11701  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What is happening to Ethereum? on: October 16, 2018, 02:02:12 PM
Every cryptocurrency depends on bitcoin success.

However, Eth´s price is falling more than BTC.

I believe Eth has some issues, which need to be solved:

1 - Desktop wallet. All bad and too complicated to use. No, MEW is not a desktop wallet.

2 - Proof of Stake. Is it going to be released? It was postponed, when will it be  released? Which direction is Eth going?

3 - Vitalik Centralization. Is it Vitalik's blockchain? It looks like he decide everything?

4 - Plasma (Ethereum Lightning Network). Is it going to be released? LN is already going on in the mainnet, but Plasma is still in early stages.
11702  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How much does an Airdrop cost? on: October 16, 2018, 01:49:58 PM
To receive this, we have to be a member of the site and send 0.0028 eth. and finally I have to go to KYC. I am surprised know what I am.

If an Airdrop requires you to send them money and your personal data, avoid it by all means. Seriously. I don't get why people are that careless with their data.

Those "airdrops" which ask for money are all scam.

Many influent people in the crypto community, such as Vitalik Buterin (https://twitter.com/vitalikbuterin) are using their name on Twitter as "Vitalik Non-giver of Ether", so people can avoid those scams easier.

11704  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Good day for arbitraging on: October 16, 2018, 01:26:34 PM
you can sell coins at bitfinex or on USDT markets and hope the price disparity dies down, but that's about it. you can't actually withdraw USD and complete the arbitrage cycle.

This situation is scary. Mt. Gox closed withdrawls as well when they had problems. I hope bitfinex solves this situation fast.

About arbitrage, it's possible when when market volatility is high. It's also possible if you have exchanges in different countries with different currencies, such as USD and some other local currency.

If someone manage to somehow have a South Korean bank account and a USD bank, it may be possible to make nice arbitrage with some altcoins which are more valuable in south korea.
11705  Local / Brasil / Re: Bitcoin como proteção contra a ditadura on: October 15, 2018, 12:15:38 PM

11706  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is it safe enough to buy bitcoins online ? on: October 15, 2018, 11:41:12 AM
I tried to buy some bitcoins from a popular/trusted website

the payments had charged from my card , and my bank support told me : the purchase done successfully

but the website system released this message : failed to charge the card

the website support told me that they did not take any payments and their explanation

Visa is a middle man , it takes the payments and check some conditions
if the conditions as expected , it will send the payments for them
if not , it return the payments for me in a few days

2 days passed and I did not take back my money

I don't want to mention the website name , I'll do it only in case I really stolen

I suggest that you show some proof of payment to the support. If they refuse to pay , they are probably scammers...
However, you need to be sure you actually paid. Sometimes a visa authorization may look like a payment is not

If you give us the name of the service, it would probably help, as kakmark said.

There are some legit websites such as coinmama and cex.io that allow you to buy with credit card.
11707  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Goldman Sachs May Custody Cryptocurrencies on: October 14, 2018, 06:39:17 PM

Goldman's Sachs is already in cryptocurrencies. They have acquired Circle/Poloniex, so they already own a lot of cryptocurrencies.
Soon they may be sell bitcoin to their clients in the bank

More and more big company use blockchain technology to increase their product and service. Mass adoption of blockchain and crypto just began and in the futures this technology will give more benefits to the more people and will change the world to be much better in financial and others industry.
Is this anyhow related to topic?

When you see this kind of post, report to moderator. He is just a spammer.

11708  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: If you're ~15% in the red, is it crazy to sell? on: October 14, 2018, 12:29:43 PM
Nobody knows what will the Bott be.

Ethereum may never recover, and go to 10 usd or less.

I am holding , but I think its a highly risk move.

There is no shame in selling at 15% loss. Better than sell at 90% loss
11709  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The fastest and longest ICO on: October 13, 2018, 05:15:15 PM

However, fast fundraising does not guarantee success in the future. Conversely, a long-term ICO can be very profitable as well. Look at EOS – maybe the longest running ICO ever, isnt't it? The company raised $4 Billion in a year. Of course, not the most lucrative results taking into account the duration of the ICO period. For instance, Telegram raised $1.7 billion just in pre-sale. But in the end the profit is really worthwhile.

You are right. Fast fundraising do not guarantee good returns. But it shows how much people are interested and it's potential.

This eos model of ico, 1 year and 4 billion, is certainly not interesting for me. Why would they need 4 billion ? I wouldn't invest in this kind of ico.
11710  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you have any experience in playing DApps? on: October 13, 2018, 05:11:28 PM

Blockchain is in the air and they seized game field. I’ve never had a chance playing one but sometimes I’m thinking about it. However, something always stops me.

Have you ever played one? Is it interesting or at least funny? Does it worth spending time on it?

I tried cryptokitties. It was quite a boom last year. Many people made lots of money with it.
K just spend like 5 usd buying a useless cat...

It's not a cool Game, but it's interesting. It's an educative game, explaining how blockchain work in a illustrative way.
11711  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Nano Ledger S Ledger Live? on: October 13, 2018, 05:03:47 PM
But why would anyone not put a password for it?

Because my laptop has full drive encryption and is never unencrypted unless I'm actively using it. If someone can break that encryption then they can definitely break a password to some random application.

This password is basically useless , as all transactions beed to be confirmed on ledger nano itself, using the PIN.

What you need to take care of is your pin and your seed.

11713  Other / Meta / Re: What can we do to stop redundant full quotes? on: October 11, 2018, 06:06:48 PM
SMF has the option to remove nested quotes. Do you think it would be beneficial if this was implemented here?

If Smf have an easy solution, I don't see why isn't it already implemented.

Isn't it possible to make a script which blocks more than X characters between quotes?
Another problem is that many people quote big posts to spam... This would be a solu for that too.

I guess this will only be solved on the new forum software
11714  Other / Meta / Re: new board - Altcoin technical support. what do you think? on: October 11, 2018, 06:00:06 PM
We already have the following boards:

Ivory tower and serious discussion for technical support?

I think you have never visited those boards . They were not created for that
11715  Other / Meta / new board - Altcoin technical support. what do you think? on: October 11, 2018, 02:57:00 PM
I see some people asking about technical support for altcoins in this forum.

I have no doubt this forum is the best place to ask for technical support.

As altcoin board is 99% spam, and bitcoin technical support board is one of the best boards (with very few spam) , an altcoin technical support board could be a good ideia.

It could be almost spam free, and would bring good and legit users to the forum.

What do you guys think?
11716  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do Bugs that change Bitcoin address hold the private keys?? on: October 11, 2018, 02:52:26 PM
Well, hiding which cryptocurrency you are talking about doesn't really help.
other coins have different software and many of them have bad wallets or wallets infected with virus.

You need to post more information. Electracoin... Did you use their official wallet?
There is no such board as altcoin technical support, and I think that could be really helpful
11717  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do Bugs that change Bitcoin address hold the private keys?? on: October 11, 2018, 11:58:22 AM
You must give us the information we are asking, so we can help you.

What is your wallet? Do you have the seed ?(group of 12-24 words)
11718  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do Bugs that change Bitcoin address hold the private keys?? on: October 11, 2018, 11:37:43 AM
If you don't have the privatekeys, you cannot recover your funds.

But maybe you have the privatekeys...

What is your wallet?
Can you share with us the public address? You said your transaction is stuck... Wasn't it confirmed yet? If it has any confirmation, it is not stuck.

Do you have the seed for your wallet?
11719  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is scalability the biggest problem with Bitcoin, and how is it being dealt? on: October 11, 2018, 10:25:35 AM
Scalability ia not the biggest problem. It's not even a problem yet.

Let's wait for it to become a problem, then core devs will find a solution for it.

For now, transactions are fast and cheap.

Scalability problem is just a propaganda made by bcash chills.
