I have 1 weird 1080ti blower that does 10mh at 70 watts with fans at 20% no matter what rig i use it on.

I've already made up my mind and ordered 2 of this ricks. of course it's my decision and my risk, but that's why a forum like this is there to exchange ideas and ask for advice. Smiley

will invest about 50-100k $ in ethereum mining and build a small farm of 10,000 mhs. I'll post pictures soon and keep you updated.

step by step Smiley

thank you anyway

Right now profits area abnormally high, I wouldn't make any projections using today's mining profits.  Why not gpu's, if things become unprofitable you have hardware to sell.  The ASICs becomes a door stopper.  If profits remain this high for long a lot of hash will be added to the network reducing profits.  I've mined from 2016 to now and around the high in 2017 I was making $400 a day in 2017 I was making $30 a day in 2019.  My gtx 1070 gpus i bought in 2017 for $340 are selling on ebay for $250 and the ASICs I bought in 2017-2018 are worth nothing.

he is getting amd 5700 cards

Well I am 63 so balls of steel start to turn into balls with some rust. Grin

If I were 35 I would be pushing as much as I can.

I have 2 locations with good power.  And I could run 100 gpu rigs  that pull 1000 watts each.

I am coordinating this as best I can.

I would like a ton of this card.

https://www.evga.com/products/product.aspx?pn=08G-P5-3665-KR

using this psu

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/seasonic-focus-gx-850-850w-80-gold-psu-full-modular-fan-control-in-fanless-silent-cooling-mode-10-yr-warranty-black/6414265.p?

with this mobo

https://www.newegg.com/p/1JW-00FB-00001?item=9SIAMY5BGE1624

and this ram

the psu I can get for  140
the mobo I can get for 70
the ram  I can get for  13

223-225 mount on a wooden board with screws +  spacers. about 230 total no cards

the  rig will do  175-180 mh run cool.

but I need the get the cards. I have nine mobos that will be ready for card end of the month. Still trying to source the cards.

the nice thing is my cost is 9 x 230 = 2070 or 2100 With cards.  room for 27 cards with zero space issues.

So don't think you are wrong to go for it.  as you will be mining faster then I will.

I have 4 weaker cards coming.  I can squeeze them on one of the nice rigs I have ready.

 So say jan25
1x 150 mh rig
will be added.

Cool someone else can do it this year.

Good I have been so freaking stressed from my wife being ill for an entire year with covid-19 and the damage it did to her running 1 less thread will be a nice break for me.

First off.  I am a third tier guy.

1st tier guys have been loaded from btc for a long time.
2 nd tier guys made their money in 2017

3rd tier guys are going to have a very good year in 2021.

At least I hope I will.

Well we see this big jump 8-11% due in 4 days or so.  What matters are the next two jumps.

2 big jumps of 10% after this jump of 10%  would mean a lot of chips are in hand.

Smaller jumps would mean mikeywith will be correct.  and we just won't get the big diff runup.

As for price.  every day over 30k is good and last I looked we are over 34 k.

I really thought we would correct in the 26-30k range.  we have not really done so. Now I am not sure when we drop back.

Or what we go up to. 70-80k with a diff of 20.0 would make us equal to 2017 mining profits.

blocks were 2x and gear was 2x more power hungry so a factor of 4x  and 80/20 = 4x   so 16x

diff is 15 times higher  so 15x

Since mining got that hot once before. it could do it again.  so to think we end up at 70-80k with a diff around 20-22 is possible.

I ordered a second asus strix card on the bay from newegg.  They are low power I can squeeze them in on rigs I have.

5500xt
These are the most easy to find GPUs, and near MSRP prices here

How much can you squeeze of this GPU?
I only see people talking about wattage of miners, but I like your posts because you always post the power on the wall, it's very helpful and precise
The price of the 8Gb models of Powercolor are 270 USD

smos will say 60watt and 27mh. more  like 85 watts real.

i'm kind of torn between two worlds. On one hand i like the mining profits, but on the other hand, my defi investments are "stuck". While i don't need to access them at this moment, i can't add to it.

Is anyone else worried about eip-1559 coming soonish? I have a feeling the recent spike in gas fees is going to be the straw that finally breaks the camels back, and eip-1559 is going to be fast tracked

Well these profits on eth mining are really really really good. 162% block payment on viabtc.

They can not be sustained for 2 years or even 1 year.

But I think they can stick around for the winter.

Say March or April.

I ordered a second asus strix card on the bay from newegg.  They are low power I can squeeze them in on rigs I have.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/ASUS-ROG-STRIX-AMD-Radeon-RX-5500-XT-Overclocked-8G-GDDR6-HDMI-DisplayPort-Gamin/303464263268?

these are older gen

both of these  cards will sell out.

I got second card with 2 100 dollar ebay gift cards cost 190 so a 10 buck discount.  I have six months to pay on these. two cards.

they will do 55th or 4.11 a day they cost 600 with zero discounts .  I paid  531 with my discounts.  I have six months to pay zero interest.

So 531/4.11 = 129 days for pay off.
11711  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: It is 2020 time for a new diff thread. on: January 05, 2021, 01:32:28 PM
Well the important thing about mining is to remember lots of gear clocks

a stock s17pro
low power 42th
normal.     53th
turbo.       57th

42 to 57 = 35% jump

I have to think people are cranking gear up and wasting some power  .

I spent a day at my mine cleaning my s17pros because I want them all doing turbo

I have 1 section with 10 s17pros all running at turbo and they do 586 th last wee they were normal + turbo mix doing 540 th so I jumped 8.5%.
11712  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Number 9! Ninth altcoin thread. Back to the moon Baby! on: January 05, 2021, 01:11:02 PM
Well with eth over 1000 and paying over 162% due to fees. It is like it is at an all-time high price for miners

is near or at an all time high of 306 th

But think about this. we are getting 7.48 cents a mh. all 6gb cards make money

So cards are not coming down in price.

I have a thread on the idea of nVida and or amd custom mobos

this idea below could be practical

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5305242.0

I am thinking we are not going to see cards for a longtime

and that asics are being built  big time to mine eth

I do think we will be solid on earning for 60-90 days  then asics will start to affect earnings.

innosilicon and bitmain must be mining eth like mad as I type.

At the moment I can find some rx 570  cards from Best Buy

I just found this on ebay

https://www.ebay.com/itm/ASUS-ROG-STRIX-AMD-Radeon-RX-5500-XT-Overclocked-8G-GDDR6-HDMI-DisplayPort-Gamin/303464263268?

I had 47 in ebucks

so it was just tolerable.

I purchased a 100 ebay gift card for 95 on six months interest free.
I paid remainder with PayPal Credit six months interest free

So this nets to about 230-235 with six months to pay.

Limit is six cards. so it will sell out
11713  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Maximalism Has Won Nothing. Never will or can win over altcoins. on: January 05, 2021, 05:04:56 AM
Institutions don't care about altcoins. They firstly care about Bitcoin, and secondly as a bit more risky play they care about Ethereum. Everything else are altcoins anyone of them could easily be replaced, even the ones that are serving useful purposes and have momentum and user growth behind them.

Sure there's a small portion of institutions that will put a bit of money in altcoins as a totally speculative play that maybe it'll survive and thrive in the long term, but mostly it's BTC and to a lesser extent ETH. I think once they get used to having a position in BTC more of them will take positions in ETH as well.

Bitcoin is the safe investment for them, because Bitcoin's future has become obvious as a future multi-trillion dollar global reserve source of value. Ethereum is a bit riskier just because blockchain smart contracts haven't yet fully achieved a point at which they will very obviously be a global economic force in the future. But if they do achieve that then Ethereum is almost certain to be the primary platform, and DeFi does seem to be the "killer app" or at least the first lasting big killer app for smart contract ecosystems. Altcoins, on the other hand, are speculative investments in which you hope some of them skyrocket enough to offset your bad bets, so that isn't something most institutions that are looking to grow and preserve value without a lot of risk will be interested in.

Good.  Shitcoins are for gpu mining ⛏ in order to convert to btc.

I have earned more btc with mining ⛏ Doge,Ltc ,and eth then I have ever earned mining btc.

Investors can stay the fuck away from shit coins. It allows the little guy to get a piece of coin with his gaming rig.

If you have a 2200 usd alien 👽 gaming rig with a 3080 nividia card. it earns 30 cents for each hour it mines. it burns 4 to 8 cents an hour.

So 22 to 26 cents an hour profit. Mine 10 hours a day and make 2.50 so in three years your rig is paid off.

And you can get a new rig. so you get a free alien 👽 gaming pc every three years and sell the old one for 500 usd worth of btc.

Any one that is against that will be on the wrong side of history.

This fact above will always attract the gaming guy/girl to mining a bit with their rig.

Basically being only btc is the exact same as saying gamers cant mine.

reality is gamers can and do mine when they are not using the gaming rig to game.

All btc max should read my signature and believe that over only btc.

11715  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 700 mhs ethereum miner - How much profit? on: January 05, 2021, 03:20:21 AM
Is it worth investing 6300 euros for the miner?
Wanted to order 3 pieces

And what you mean with  > 700 x 7 = 49 usd worth of eth a day.

For what is the 7?

Thanks!

viabtc pays about 7 us cent a mh  today up from as low as 3 cents back in october.

so 7 x 700 = 49 usd.

note always understand I use fuzzy estimates

I tend to underestimate profit.

So 6300 euros = 7733 usd.

so 7733/748 = 10.3 months to owning it free and clear. if my low estimate is good.

maybe 4-5 months if my  high estimate is good.

The cards will always have value. so 12 x 100 = 1200 at worst.

I would say a lot depends on the seller of the gear how fast you get the gear.

How much can you afford to lose. if a big crash happens ?
The worst case with a monster super crash is the machine earns under 200 a month .

Say 1 good month of earnings 1000 then 500 then 200 = 1700 no where close to what you paid.

But it could keep making the 200 and in 2-3 years you did okay.

Can you afford to lose tie up 19,000 euros and wait 2-3 years for a small return.

This is a guess for all of us.  does the hot streak go for 6 months from today?

does it got for 1 month from today?

do we whale and 3x what we are doing today?

and try to push hot air from cards exhaust part with high rpm fan (noisy but good at pushing air)---this is better than pointing fans to gpus, with wrong setup these high speed fan can have conflict of 'air dynamics' with gpu fans.

thanks, you make a very good point there.

that way you will be able to max out the room's temperature threshold, but when you maxed it out, you can't cool the cards further, it is the room that you need to vent.

and careful with your hands, those screamers can wound you.

11718  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 700 mhs ethereum miner - How much profit? on: January 04, 2021, 11:51:04 PM
hey
how much would you earn a month with a 700 mhs miner at the current course price?

I have a kwh price of $ 0.06

Specifications of the Ethereum Miner 700 MH/s

Closed case/chassis
Celeron G3930 Processor
Motherboard – Onda B250 D12P-D3
DDR3 4GB Memory
SSD – 60gb MSATA
2400w Power supply 170-240V AC/50-60Hz/12A
HiveOS/SMOS operating system
24x 6+2pin cables for gpu
4x120mm 4000rpm cooling fans
12x AMD RX 5700 (700mh/s at 1800w)

Well assume the following

700 x 7 = 49 usd worth of eth a day.

1800 watts is just about 45kwatts a day at 6 cents = 2.70

I am upping power to 3 usd a day

so 49-3 =46 usd a day.

I will give there guesses

25 x 30 = 750 usd-2usd = 748 if things drop

46 x 30 = 1380-2 = 1378 if it stays level

60 x 30 = 1800-2 = 1798 if we move up

yes it could go lower than 748 or higher than 1798 but my guess is 748-1798

You have to understand current number of 1378 is too good. but it can go up before it drops.

748 is closer to what it kind of should do but it could be worse.
11719  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining season is here again on: January 04, 2021, 06:04:16 PM
Yes its profitable but no where near the profitability that we had back in late 2017 early 2018. I remember each of my RX 470 GPUs were pulling in an average of $5/day/gpu and some 1080Ti which were able to dual mine were pulling in $10+ per day per GPU.

Now the RX 470 8GB makes an average of $2.50-$3 or so. Most of it is due to the huge transactions fees for ETH transactions. There were times in the last 24 hours when the average transaction was 500 Gwei, while the average is normally 50 Gwei or so.

So when the hype ends in a day or so the fees will be back down and revenue will be maybe $1.50/gpu/day. While in 2018 if I recall most of the profits were in the miner reward of 5 ETH per block and not much was based on ETH transaction fees.

Either way, profits are as good as they were since middle of 2018 so can't complain.

Make coin while you can.

I have some cards mine since 2016.  But In july I decided to expand my cards.

I did well last year.

Hey WO gang!

Thanks so much for your replies, I've read and appreciate every single one of them!

On the PC now, at last. WO is a pain to browse from the screen of a phone, let alone posting, quoting, etc. Should get a good tablet. iPad Air maybe? Why not, we're rich now, aren't we?

Still alive, confined at home monitoring myself. This has got to be the weirdest illness I've ever experienced in my entire life. Alternating wildly between feeling "OK" and having a fever and headache. No coughing, no shortness of breath. Not yet anyway. Hopefully never.

Got an oximeter as suggested. Readings look good (alternating between 97% and 98%). I read that 94% is the warning threshold, so all good. I'm quite fit, exercising regularly, not taking any medication, etc. This should help me win this fight.

On topic. I see we had a correction for ants, which is already bouncing back up and has entered the typical decaying oscillatory response. Based on what I've seen so far, I'd say it will either go sideways for a little while and then shoot up, or it will shoot up straight away. We'll see. I'm happy either way. Shouldn't be too greedy. Once upon a time I was aiming for 10k € and we're now at 25k+ €...

I read the post with the news about Bitcoin "losing steam" by dipping 10%. Really? Don't they know nuttin'? Are they embittered nocoiners? Paid shills? Rhetoric questions... Funny thing is that, as already noted, the news item hasn't aged so well, and very soon I see some nice memes being posted based on this.

Not selling a sat until I need to. No targets. Will sell when I need to. And as much as I need to. Will not fill the bank with fiat. Already have some there and they are now worth less than when they were put there.

Onwards & upwards.

HoDL.

#humbled #love #nohomo

yeah it is weird . I was sick with it dec 31 2019 to jan 25 2020. fever on and off. my body felt black and blue and beaten on.

I was 63 when I caught it.
I have asthma
I have diabetes

And I did better with it then my wife. 91-93 on the o2 meter.  fever spiked hard one time 103 for 3 hours. with uncontrollable shakes. My skin felt hot and sweaty and my insides felt cold. Wrapped myself in 3 blankets and sweated that mofo out.

Once that one really hot shaking stopped fever was never over 99 and I was done with it.

For me this was not as bad as the h1n1 flu I had in 2009.

My wife on the other hand really has suffered long term lung damage which is just getting better after 1 year and 1 week since first getting it.

Good luck fighting this mofo bro.
