11701  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Exodus Wallet for Iphone on: July 22, 2019, 04:51:46 PM
Can you tell us your intentions with this mobile wallet in the first place? Is it to store all your coins? If so, and if your coins has significant value, then don't. Grabbing a hardware wallet might be the best move. If you're just going to use this as a hot wallet, then go with it. Just don't use it to hold significant amounts.
11702  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Affected by bitcoin Copy paste address on: July 22, 2019, 04:35:17 PM
and when copying and pasting any wallet address i will type first or last letter myself so if i have any malware it cannot change it

I don't suggest typing manually because you could potentially make typographical errors and could end you up losing your bitcoin anyway. Just make sure to doublecheck everything, just like how you did recently. Keep it up.

Also, as always, grab a hardware wallet if you hold big amounts of bitcoin.
11703  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: First Cryptocurrency? on: July 22, 2019, 04:33:22 PM
Not Bitcoin?

Nope. Bitcoin is just the first one that actually became decently successful and actually gained recognition everywhere. Most people just haven't heard of the past attempts for a global currency just because they weren't successful.

11704  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Affected by bitcoin Copy paste address on: July 22, 2019, 11:41:34 AM
Just format your computer. I'm personally not comfortable using a device that has been infected even in the past. Format it instead to be sure, as we're talking about hard earned money that could potentially be stolen here. Good thing you double checked before sending. Some people with infected devices are unfortunate and didn't notice the address change.
11705  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think about the price of Bitcoin if Donald Trump can ban Bitcoin ? on: July 21, 2019, 05:00:49 PM
I don't think the price will drop if Trump bans the bitcoin. Most of the platforms and users are not in the US, most of them are in Europe so I think it'll affect it a little bit. If OP is just referring about the bitcoin then Ethereum and other platforms will lively go pump in the market.

Based from some articles[1] from crypto news sites, from Binance alone, the percentage of traffic from U.S. customers is approximately 15-20%. I'm pretty sure that's a significant number if you ask me.

Also, by the way, Coinbase, Kraken, and Gemini are US-based companies.

11706  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think about the price of Bitcoin if Donald Trump can ban Bitcoin ? on: July 21, 2019, 04:19:35 PM
I think the prices will most definitely drop if Trump would ban bitcoin, simply due to the fear of people owning it. I have no doubts that majority of the Americans will sell, while the others will just hide their coins on their wallets and not use them for now.

P.S. Governments can't ban Bitcoin per se, just as they can't ban torrents, but they can definitely make the ownership of bitcoin illegal. Probably by giving penalties like jail time and such.
11707  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Could somebody please send me a Celsius Network apk file that work? on: July 21, 2019, 04:03:11 PM
You can probably try the app linked by TryNinja, but personally if I were in your situation, I would probably request an APK from Celsius itself, juuuust to be sure. You're probably going to deposit decent amounts of money to them, so I definitely wouldn't go lazy on stuff like this.

Try contacting them perhaps?

11708  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Need a List of Not So Known Exchanges on: July 21, 2019, 03:38:48 PM
Take a look at the list of exchanges on Coinmarketcap, on the Markets[1] tab. Just scroll down to the exchanges with lower liquidity if you really want those that are not so well known.

Be cautious though, there are surely some scams and shady ones out there.

11709  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why I love the speculators in Bitcoin. on: July 21, 2019, 11:39:36 AM
Some questions if you don't mind:
  • What country are you in? You're lucky that you're in a place that merchants actually accepts bitcoin payments. <--- I completely understand if you don't want to answer this due to privacy reasons.
  • Do they require tx confirmations? Assuming these merchants use BitPay or something similar.

Ultimately though, speculators create buy and sell offers on exchanges, which increases the market liquidity. Probably might not be that much liquidity they're adding when talking about individual speculators, but in the end, everything counts.

If his ban really was the result of English not being his first language, then there are several members here who will help him to improve his command of English. His first requirement is a will to improve his English, and the second is a willingness to spend the time required.

I don't think this is the reason at all. I've seen a lot of posts with pretty much very broken english but are still ever so slightly understandable(and with some that are even so bad that they're barely understandable) that aren't being deleted at all.
11711  Other / Meta / Re: My on topic posts are getting deleted on: July 21, 2019, 08:13:49 AM
It's definitely not the most constructive/informative post ever, but I personally wouldn't call it spam to be honest.
Your post was deleted because your quoted post was deleted. Did you see my post (you quoted) was anyhow off topic? You suggested something and I was trying to point that was not possible.

I don't think that was the case. I think both our replies got deleted. I don't think my post would automatically get deleted if the post I quoted got deleted. Also, I don't think it's off-topic at all? But whatever I guess. I'm fine with it.
11712  Other / Meta / Re: My on topic posts are getting deleted on: July 21, 2019, 07:36:14 AM
Only one of my recent posts got deleted. Not sure why, as I really didn't find it useless or non-constructive at all. But whatever, it's just one post. The dude who was previously mass reporting plagiarizers probably got bored and has now moved on to reporting low-quality posts lol. 🤷 I ain't complaining though.

This was my post that got deleted for anyone wondering:

They can't because bitcoin isn't legal here. Any kind of transactions with any cryptocurrency is banned here. So, you are asking him to accept bitcoin and go jail  Cheesy He would definitely accept cryptocurrency if it was legal here.
I obviously wasn't referring to just accepting Bitcoin. There are other ways to affiliate your business to Bitcoin without actually accepting it.

1. Playing bitcoin-related content on a screen
2. A bitcoin price chart on a screen
3. Hosting bitcoin-related debates/speeches
4. etc

They just need to get a bit creative.
It's definitely not the most constructive/informative post ever, but I personally wouldn't call it spam to be honest.
11713  Other / Meta / Re: Low quality posts ( 7 days ) on: July 21, 2019, 07:31:39 AM
And what does the low quality of messages mean? How is the quality of messages determined? briefly already write your thoughts prohibited on this forum?))

I'm not sure what your "friends" posts are, but low quality posts are pretty much posts that doesn't contribute to the conversation in any way at all.

Some things like:
  • "wow thanks!"
  • "Nice post!"
  • "To the moon!"

or something along those lines. It doesn't have anything much to do with the character length though. It's more with the sort of depth.
11714  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin vs Gold? Which one you would choose to invest for long term? Why ? on: July 21, 2019, 07:20:50 AM
Not sure if I would call gold an "investment", it's more of a hedge.

Anyway, why not both? It's not one or the other. I'm bullish with bitcoin, but we should remember that it's not guaranteed to completely succeed. Putting literally everything on Bitcoin is taking a huge unnecessary risk. I'd personally put a significant amount on bitcoin, but majority would still be with gold as it's simply just a safer asset to park money in.

11715  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: This just has been spoken in a US Congress hearing: "There is bitcoin, and shit on: July 20, 2019, 06:16:01 PM

I partly agree. Even though most are definitely crap, saying that everything besides bitcoin is complete shit is purely wrong. I mean, I think you only have the right to call everything but bitcoin shit if you literally studied every single cryptocurrency project in existence.

With that said, I think the congress hearing went that way just because the time is so limited. The time is short enough to talk about bitcoin only, what more if they talked about other legitimate projects? It would require A LOT more time. I think Meltem Demirors' goal here is to just not confuse them right off the bat.
11716  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: This just has been spoken in a US Congress hearing: "There is bitcoin, and shit on: July 20, 2019, 05:00:40 PM
You might want to see the discussion posts on Reddit r/cryptocurrency and r/ethtrader concerning this video clip LOL. The altcoin holders are definitely in full force and are definitely not very happy with both the rep. and with Meltem Demirors(the woman).
11717  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Need some creative ideas! on: July 20, 2019, 04:57:31 PM
BitcoinTX: I would say that a website to watch the mempool, estimate the fees and also accelerate transactions would be a great idea.
CryptoGear: A website to sell merch related to crypto.
BitcoinOptimist: Sounds suitable for running a blog.
BitcoinExplode: Maybe for charts, sending alerts depending on the price changes or something similar.

Just going to add to these with my "ideas":

CryptoInforms.com: Cryptocurrency related guides, similar to https://coindesk.com/information
CryptoCanteen.com: Sort of like Uber Eats but people would pay with crypto instead? or a site that you can order groceries
YoBtc.net: I personally don't like this. It sounds like a YoBit ripoff
BtcDiva.com: A bitcoin porn site or a "live cams" site
11718  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Libra has competitive advantages over Bitcoin. We let this happen. on: July 20, 2019, 09:21:55 AM
We don't want bitcoin to be stable, the rise and fall in value of bitcoin is what makes it reasonable to invest in by many investors, there is no reason to invest in stable coin

Bitcoin wasn't solely made as an investment. Bitcoin was made to be used as a store-of-value and or a currency. Bitcoin is just an investment right now due to it's volatility and it's potential to go a lot higher in the future, but the end goal is still for bitcoin to have a stable price. I mean, I don't know about you, but I'd definitely prefer my fiat hedge and day-to-day currency to be stable in price.
11719  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A logo for Satoshis, the smallest unit of a bitcoin. on: July 20, 2019, 07:55:28 AM
I think the reason for a Satoshis symbol gaining more adoption first is because of the amount of shitcoins that are worth just a couple Satoshis. When talking about those, it is rather annoying to type of Satoshis every time.
Do you really talk about shitcoins that much that you actually need a satoshi symbol to make it ever so slightly easier? Tongue

Well, actually, I might be wrong since I'm sure many of the time they just say "sats". Though, it would just be neat to have I guess.
We're going to have it once we need it I guess. Currently, a sat is merely worth around $0.0001. We're far away from needing a symbol for it.
11720  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Libra has competitive advantages over Bitcoin. We let this happen. on: July 20, 2019, 07:47:20 AM
I watched all the recent hearings about Libra. It's impossible to put into words how much the US government despises Facebook and detests the concept of Libra.

I would put the odds of Libra being permitted to exist in the form they're proposing at - 0%

It absolutely will not happen unless it's watered down into something even more pisspoor than Paypal.

I think they were hating on Facebook a little bit too much LOL. But I really couldn't blame them, as Facebook has done some crap concerning privacy multiple times in the past already. Such a shame for a decent platform that went to crap.

One thing I found frustrating to hear though, is that even though Marcus said multiple times that multiple companies(not solely Facebook) will have control over Libra, some of the people(?)/officials in the hearing is still pushing as if Facebook has 100% control over Libra.
