1182  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How can i reverse a Bitcoin transaction? on: April 29, 2023, 06:54:05 AM
For example, suppose I transfer a BTC worth 0.00023 to another address and the transaction is completed, but I later realize that it was sent to the wrong address or that I sent in excess to the next address owing to human shortcomings, after which I can't reach out to the recipient directly.

Does this imply that I have lost my BTC and will never be able to reverse or recover it?

Is there no way or platform to reverse erroneous transactions, especially when the reasons are genuine?

Thanks in anticipation!

If the transaction is already completed there's no way you could reverse the transaction because the funds are already on the address when you sent it. I mean it's decentralized so if you copy the wrong address your Bitcoin is already lost. So what you can do is be careful and make good practice of checking the address where you going to send your Bitcoin.

Dont, make it a habit to just copy the address or just check the first 4 or last 4 characters since there are also cases about it.. Make sure to always copy the address on your wallet before sending it.

Bitcoin transactions are irreversible but to have safer guarantee for your transactions, you must pay attention on its confirmations.

How many Bitcoin confirmations is enough?.

You have to consider the number of confirmations with the value of transaction you are doing.
Quote

  • 1 confirmation: sufficient for small payments less than $1,000.
  • 3 confirmations: for payments $1,000 - $10,000. Most exchanges require 3 confirmations for deposits.
  • 6 confirmations: good for large payments between $10,000 - $1,000,000. Six is standard for most transactions to be considered secure.
  • 10 confirmations: suggested for large payments greater than $1,000,000.

Tools

There are times that the transition might fail so the funds will just go back to your wallet, I guess if you use very small fees. And you cant really contact the owner of the address because where are anonymous here. I mean you could ask on some forums like here if they are the owner and ask them to send it back but the chances are very low.

1183  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: After HongKong, it is time for Taiwan on: April 29, 2023, 06:13:04 AM
This was supposed to happen but the timing is perfect. A few hours back Taiwan announced that it will allow traditional Banks to offer Bitcoin & Crypto trading services. A month back they had announced that Bitcoin and cryptocurrency regulation are on the way. But why so fast?

I mean, what was the hurry? Is it because HK announced a few days back that their largest bank plans to extend its service to crypto? Or it is a competition between China & Taiwan as to who gets a major chunk of the crypto business.

Whatever is the reason? I feel that this news should bring a lot of cheer to the market. Why? As another country joins the list that accepts Bitcoin & cryptocurrency as an entity and wants it to thrive.

What do you guys think? Smiley

This is surely great news since it is a part of Bitcoin adaptation all over the world, I mean even the article could easily increase the market price of Bitcoin easily at this time. This is surely going to be a long process especially when it comes to cryptocurrency adoption it would be a big discussion. It's great to see other countries getting interested in how they can use bitcoin.

In my country cryptocurrency is now supported by some banks and they now offer cryptocurrency trading which is a good thing and could easily encourage a lot of people that don't have an idea or don't know what Bitcoin is to actually buy or just gain interest about it.
1184  Other / Meta / Re: TalkImg.com - Image hosting for BitcoinTalk on: April 29, 2023, 05:06:15 AM
You have a great Project Congratulations!!

It actually loads images faster, and uploading images was really easy.

I've been using Imgur ever since when uploading images, and it might be a great alternative but I'm just concerned about this website's database.

The images might also be deleted when the images host is down, So far you did a really great job Good luck!

They introduce a bitcoin investment scheme na nagoofer ng high returns.

1186  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Where do I keep crypto after buying it? on: April 28, 2023, 04:05:13 PM
If I want to buy crypto, then I believe I have to go to a broker or an exchange (assuming I don't know someone who wants to sell me some). So I've got to pay them. Are they regulated enough that I can be confident that they won't just run off with my money once I've paid them? Can I pay be credit card? Then, once I have bought from the broker or exchange, do they transfer the crypto to a wallet that I control? Or do they keep the crypto in their own wallet as a custodian? If so, again, how can I trust them?

Also, is there an advantage to buying from a broker over buying on an exchange?

Thanks

Just buy on Binance you could easily buy using a Card or fiat money with the exchange and it's probably the biggest exchange so you somehow have confidence that your funds are on safety. Surely centralized exchanges like Binance have its risk but they are still legitimate businesses, so you could exchange on the platform easily. There wasn't really any difference but buying on exchange is a lot more convenient.

But your gonna need a separate decentralized wallet where you could put your funds or Bitcoin as your main wallet since the centralized exchange is very risky if your gonna put your money there for the long term or make it your main wallet.

I can easily recommend Standard Electrum wallet, [GUIDE] How to Safely Download and Verify Electrum [Guide] .

1187  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I may sound really stupid right now, but it's what I noticed on: April 28, 2023, 03:26:30 PM
I am present in crypto space years ago and I have witnessed two bear market, and I couldn't take advantage of one because of the condition that I was into at the time, but I heard about every good and bad things about crypto.

But I am curious about something and I will like to ask you old Bitcoin OG on here .

Why is it that bad news always comes in a bear market and when we are in a bull market, all bad news about Bitcoin vanished? Are they doing this on purpose? It's always the bear market, after halving everything will disappear and some bans will be lifted, and so on...

Are we been played? Are these people toying with us, knowing that crypto will work but let's scare the hell out of them and take advantage of the fear? I can't come up with anything that makes more sense than this.

I mean on the Bull Run we also have some bad news I think and that cost a big correction or drop in the market price of Bitcoin. Yes for sure if the market price of Bitcoin was pumping for example it pump up to 50,000$ for sure we are going to see a lot of articles that are positive saying that Bitcoin will skyrocket etc. because that would just make sense you would really see that article if the market price was around 3000$ because no one would believed it at that point. Also, speculations from investors or famous people come out when the market price continues to increase.

When the market price skyrockets we could actually expect a lot of manipulation on the market so for sure we see positive articles, but for sure we will also see negative news because that could easily create opportunity when the market price drop, it could easily create panic and investors might sell their holding.

Rejoice, its time for yet another brief monthly overview of the local boards activity.  Grin  As always charts and table are made using data from @DdmrDdmr Merit Dashboard and @TryNinja Ninjastic.space. Thanks guys for your awesome tools!

Communities marked with * (Pakistan, Bangladesh) don't have their own local boards. Not yet at least.

Post activity per local board during March 2023

During above mentioned period 1452 posts were written across 18 local boards, which is a ~20% increased compared to February 2023 and 13576 posts. I must say that I didn't expect this increase considering the overall situation and trend, but it was a certainly a good surprise and hopefully we can continue like that in the coming months.

As always, Russian board was far ahead of others, followed by Turkish and German boards. Generally, majority of boards had increased activity while among the more active boards only Nigerian had significant decrease (several less active boards had decrease too but those boards usually have big amplitudes).

Local Board post race

Courtesy of bitmover, animated chart of the local board post race

Active member per local board during March 2023

Since amount of posts went up by 20%, no surprise that the same thing happened with amount of active members. During March 1369 members wrote at least 1 post which is a solid ~10% increase compared to February numbers (1232). Russian board is once again far ahead, and German & Turkish behind them. After strong growth in the last few months, Nigerian didn't break the 100 active members barrier and even had a slight decrease which is not surprising considering that their amount of posts went down as well.

When it comes to amount of members (percentage wise, relative to the total amount of members) who wrote only 1 post during March, this time Bangladesh and Turkish local boards were ahead of the others with 70%, followed by Greek (62%) and Indian (60%) local boards. On the other hand, Pilipinas and Nigerian boards had the least mount of such members (22%) followed by Bangladesh and Turkish with 25%.

In the 2-9 posts group, Bangladesh was ahead of the others with 48% and  German % Nigerian close behind at the 2nd with 47% each. On the other side are Roamian (10%), Polish (20%) and French (22%).

In the 10+ posts group, Pakistan board is ahead with 44% of such members, followed by Croatian (41%) and French (38%) local boards. Least amount of those members have Indian (7%), Greek (13%) and Romanian (20%) local boards

Merit shared per local board during March 2023

Since amount of posts increased by ~20%, I naturally expected for same thing to happen with merits shared and I wasn't disappointed; during March 8479 merits was shared acorss 19 local boards which is a huge ~60% increase compared to February and 5214 merits shared.

As always, majority of such a big increase we can thank to historically most merited boards: Russian (859-1739), German (444-1143) and Turkish (615-1149), but this time Indonesian board joined too with ~160% increase (376-966) and the biggest amount of merits shared in the last three years (since I make these overviews).

Merit senders and receivers per local board during March 2023

Several local boards stick out on this chart (Nigerian, Pilipinas) meaning they have a lrage amount of merit senders/receivers compared to the total amount of merits shared that might suggest they could use more merit sources. Since no one expressed their opinion on how this chart should be sorted I will keep it as it is, meaning it will be sorted by the amount of merits shared.

Merit/Post ratio per local board for March 2023

Last but not the least in this series of chart, merit/post raio. Since amount of posts increased by 20% and merits by 60%, its no surprise that blue colour dominates the chart, with only Italian, Spanish and Nigerian boards having lower March than 12 month ratio. Romanian and Arabic and at their usual 1st and 2nd place this and buig surprise this month is Indonesian with 1.19 merits per postthat is a huge increase compared to their usual numbers, as seen on the chart.

1190  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Ano nga ba ang Layer 1 at Layer 2 Blockchain? on: April 27, 2023, 10:33:41 AM

1191  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum 4.4 Relased on: April 27, 2023, 10:05:29 AM
Do we actually need to download the application on the website every time there was an update? Is it safe to reinstall the application every time?
You can check for updates directly from wallet, or update from official github page.
If I remember correctly there was once issue with malicious updates, so it's recommended to verify new download each time before installing.
I personally wouldn't hurry updating Electrum wallet unless there was some critical bug fix, it's better to check comments and feedback from other people first and update few days/weeks later.

Yes, I might consider updating my wallet most of the time, I guess because I'm just the kind of guy that is going to stop what I'm doing just to update applications, games, OS, etc.

But a newer version doesn't really mean your getting the best and bug-free application especially if the new version was just released some bugs might come out. So probably feedback from others or maybe delay the update for some time to avoid encountering problems.
1192  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin overshadowed by economic lie on: April 27, 2023, 08:49:56 AM
Bitcoin exist for over a decade yet there’s only few percentage of the human population is involved on Bitcoin investment. Not because that the majority of people is not aware nor exposed but because they are the victim of economic lie such disinformation towards Bitcoin through negative propaganda of Banks.

We are all being feed of wrong information of economic norms by the billionaires that benefiting the current system. Bitcoin is the best asset to invest in terms of price growth on long term period yet people are still scared to touch due the wrong information given by the main stream media.

In the country that I live, Bitcoin has a stigma of being a scam because our own government warn the public to not engage on Bitcoin investment due to a lot of scam involves it and the volatility is high. Most of the people here including the old professional don’t dare to touch it despite Bitcoin already has good price history.

I mean everyone was using fiat money and banks, comparing it to Bitcoin, Bitcoin didn't really have enough investors and users. We wouldn't really trust something that easily especially when we heard a lot of bad things about it like for example scams, illegal activities, etc. So it would make sense that even though a lot of know that Bitcoin was a great investment it would not matter to some people because they don't know what is Bitcoin and if it is actually better than fiat or as an investment.

For now, I think the Bitcoin adaptation growth increased a lot compared to the past years, there are so many platforms in my country that are starting to adopt Bitcoin even online banks were starting to add buying and selling cryptocurrencies to their platforms. So there are also a lot of people that have a bad perception of bitcoin and could easily change their mind because even legitimate banks here already support cryptocurrency. For me its already a big improvement and would convince a lot of people and investors to invest and pick Bitcoin.

1194  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Btc get to $12k or $10k on: April 26, 2023, 05:41:10 PM
All the callers, saying Bitcoin will get to $12k $10k or below, we haven't see $14k so far, is $15.4k the last bottom for btc or we are still going to see more dump??

this should be a mini pump
because Btc is resting at a critical supply zone. If it breaks and close above it, we may not see 12k. If not 12k here we come

Surely having 12,000$ or 10,000$ was a very low chance at the status of the market today, We can see the movement of the bitcoin and accumulating to skyrocket at any moment. There was resistance at the 30,000$ but the Bitcoin price continue to reach it and surpass it. At any moment it is possible to break 30,000$, but at the same time, we could expect a lot of correction at this point.

I think nothing is impossible in bitcoin price movement, today the price reached more than $ 28500 but if there is a crash it can be easy to return to $ 10k, this is common, for example like in 2021 it reached over $ 69k many people said it was impossible the price will drop below $30k but it only took 5 months for the price to drop below $30k.

By looking at current market movements, we are more inclined to say that Bitcoin is unlikely to return to the price of $ 10k, and we assume that Bitcoin will continue to be above $ 25k and above in the near future. I believe this indicates a move is imminent for more upside, now in a $29k green graphic correction after dropping from its $30k initial price.
Some investors lose confidence or sometimes get worried at the Bitcoin price correction. But Bitcoin real holders are not concerned about this. Because they are able to accept both Bitcoin pump and dump. The market looking slightly bearish since last week, many are concerned that Bitcoin may be bearish again. It may drop below $15k again. Most of those who try to invest in Bitcoin with such assumptions may face losses in Bitcoin. Bitcoin price has increased by 8.8 percent in the last 24 hours. Bitcoin is now trading at $29792 from $27357. Those who were in confusion now began to dream again. But only those who are committed to a goal will be able to achieve success with Bitcoin.

I mean its a risky investment but I would still accumulate Bitcoin even though the market price was at the top, the market price increases a lot in just a small amount of time which could easily be a bubble at any moment, market could easily crash at some point.

2023-04-14 14:00,
Bitcoin touched its all-time high of $31K which is the 2023 market high. When the market reached $31K we had an idea that the Bitcoin market would soon reach $100K.
Thinking like this, suddenly the market was running down gradually. At other times, the market usually goes down very slowly, but during this period, the market started to go down very quickly and gradually, on 23-04-24 at 22:00, the price of Bitcoin reached $26,942.

After reaching $26,942, the Bitcoin market started to turn positive again. And by today very quickly the Bitcoin market reached $30,036.

Basically I do not understand the reason for so much volatility in the market. Is this volatility a good sign of the market or a bad sign of the market?

It's a good sign in my opinion of constant movement in the market meaning there are a lot of investors buying and selling Bitcoin. At this early, we can already see the market price increasing up to 30k$ even without the Bitcoin halving event. Surely there will be a huge spike months before halving and that huge spike could easily trigger a lot of investors in the market, which can cause a huge movement. Still, if there is a lot of movement in the market, it could easily create panic in the market that could easily cost up and down in the market.

No one really knows what could happen in the market price for sure so the investment was obviously for long-term investment, but it's a positive investment even though is a risky investment.

Maybe regarding Volatility we can't say whether it's big or small, but the signs we got seem to provide an opportunity for those who want to enter the market. To be precise, we don't know the significant level that will occur in the market. the highest price Bitcoin has experienced so far this year may just be $31k and rising to $100k quickly seems like a big target.

Surely does attract a lot of investors but investors invest more if the market price of, 100k$ was going to be difficult but it seems doable.
1196  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Will you sell because of situations? on: April 26, 2023, 02:57:13 PM
This story is pathetic, the man who introduce me to bitcoin, his kid sis was knapped 2 weeks now and the kidnappers are asking for a huge ransom of  N10 Million Nigeria currency but the whole thing looks like a plan work from some people close to him because many people know him to be crypto dealer. Now this money is never available anywhere, the man's only option is to sell his bitcoin and even if he does is not up to the amount. Do you advise he sells and bail his kid sister?  Everybody is confuse.

Many things happens this days, putting you on a test! At what situations did you think you can sell your bitcoin and forget about bitcoin like it has never exist in your life. Knowing well the situation you're into many must have passed it and scale through without selling. What then will make you to sell even if the price is against you?

The answer was pretty obvious to sell your Bitcoin, in the end of the day it was just money, no money can buy your child.

In certain situations I would sell my Bitcoin at a fair price, if you need money for something that is really important you could sell your Bitcoin it is just a matter of what is important more. Even though a lot of us HODL Bitcoin for life, I should say that there are still limitations to it, I mean we all buy Bitcoin for profits I think most of us will agree with that, at some point, we need to sell our bitcoin because buying bitcoin would not really matter if you're not going to sell it on the end. There's gonna be no point in investing in your future if you're not going to use it, probably yes if you already have a lot of money or you are some rich guy, you could probably just give it to your kids. All of the money you save will not really matter if you don't spend it in the end.

1198  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What will you do with bitcoin? on: April 25, 2023, 10:06:43 AM
Hello guys!
Today I was thinking about Bitcoin and where it will finally go up. And I came to the conclusion that I don't really understand what is the right thing to do with Bitcoin after it will "go to the moon".

So I wanted to ask you all, what are you planing to do with bitcoin when it will go to 70k, 80k etc. Are you planing to sell it or you will keep holding it?
If you will sell it, at what price are you planning to do it?

For now, holding is the best thing that we can do because it's still not a good time for us to sell our Bitcoin, Of course, think of the reason why you buy Bitcoin in the first place, but probably most of us buy Bitcoin is because its an investment, so the goal is to sell bitcoin and take a profit. Everybody would sell in the end depending on how long they can HODL their Bitcoin.

I mean it's your Bitcoin anyway and you can do whatever you want with it, some might just want to hold Bitcoin, but for me, Bitcoin is an investment so At a certain price or fair price in the market I would sell my Bitcoin, No one knows the limitation of bitcoin if it's going to reach 100,000$ or even up to a million. Because what matters is you sell on a profit not on a loss.
1199  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Ano nga ba ang Layer 1 at Layer 2 Blockchain? on: April 25, 2023, 08:18:15 AM

1200  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The two ways to invest in bitcoins. on: April 25, 2023, 06:16:44 AM
There are only two ways to invest in bitcoins from some topics I have read in this forum, to buy a big amount of bitcoins once and to buy small amounts regularly according to a plan.

Buying big - Although this is generally not advised, I think buying big can be good if you can afford to buy big and then follow up with adding small amounts to what you have. Buying big will help you get a good amount of bitcoins quickly.

Buying small occasionally, otherwise known by the name of dollar cost averaging - This is method that is advised for people who are not rich, and who do not have enough money to buy big. I think if you have enough money to buy big and follow up with buying small amounts, but you just decide to buy small amounts regularly, you are not doing the best for yourself.

Dollar-cost average works well for me, For someone who doesn't have a lot of funds to invest, DCA helps you to accumulate Bitcoin easily, it was just similar to saving but most of the time I lower the amount of Bitcoin that I buy especially if the market price is up to a certain percentage, I think it's a better strategy than buying same amount every time, then I increase my buying power when the market price is down.

Anyway, the important thing is you buy and accumulate Bitcoin in the long term, it's always gonna end up a profit as long as your going to buy low and sell high. Investing 1$ every day in bitcoin over the last five years
