1181  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: Bitcoin Pyramid [alpha-stage, 0.01 btc for first newcomers!] on: July 18, 2011, 10:31:52 PM
You should put more money in, so that:
  • You're more likely to be randomly picked for future payouts.
  • You put more money in the scheme, making it more attractive for future members.

With (best-guess) 70,000+ active bitcoin users out there(60000+ MtGox accounts, 70000 unique IPs for the client in the last month or so), getting your money in _now_ is a good bet, even if only 1% of current, and zero future users join up.

Thank you for the exact wording, I appreciate that.  I am not sure about the second point: does it motivate anybody to put more money? Also, I wouldn't promise that it is a good bet (though I really believe it is). I would just explain how it works to facilitate informed decisions.
1182  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: Bitcoin Pyramid [alpha-stage, 0.01 btc for first newcomers!] on: July 18, 2011, 09:53:45 PM
Probably, we should explain it more simply... The answer for the question "why should I send my money to it" must be in one sentence, without any formulas...

Thanks, I agree with you, but the answer is present on the registration page:

"Any time you can deposit any amount to your permanent deposit address to increase your chances of winning random payments."

Isn't it clear enough?

PS: nice banner Wink

Was hoping to get some advertising links like the randomiser.

Thank you for your comment. The problem is how to reliably manage links without email & password. After MtGox and Bitcoin Randomizer were hacked, I don't want to store any private data in the database. Maybe I could organize some kind of authorization via deposits.

also that captcha was a pain, I had to try about 10 times, not sure what I was doing wrong.  Sorry #50 I'm under #73 after 5 captcha attempts I removed the referral info, had some page load problems.

I am sorry to hear about that. Tronlet also had problems with captcha. I have no idea what's happening and how to reproduce the situation Sad
1184  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: Bitcoin Pyramid [alpha-stage, 0.01 btc for first newcomers!] on: July 17, 2011, 04:18:11 PM
How about something to encourage deposits? Maybe a limit on random payments where the user gets to keep the amount equal to his deposit plus 50%, and the remainder is paid to the sponsor.

When somebody deposits any amount, the following algorithm works:
1) 50% goes to sponsor
2) random member is being chosen (each member's chances to be chosen depend on his/her deposits)
3) min(remainder, sum deposited by random member) goes to the selected random member
4) if remainder > 0, goto 2.

I think 2) and 3) should be encouraging enough. Maybe need to document it better. What do you think?
1185  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: Bitcoin Pyramid [alpha-stage, 0.01 btc for first newcomers!] on: July 17, 2011, 03:07:09 PM
Thanks for everybody who joined the pyramid and spread the word about it!

There are 50 members in the pyramid now. Everything goes fine and I extend the "grace period" to 100 members.

Please PM me if you don't receive 0.01 btc within 24 hours after you send me your member Id.
1186  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: Bitcoin Pyramid [alpha-stage, 0.01 btc for first newcomers!] on: July 17, 2011, 12:56:32 AM
I have the lucky number 33. 0.7 BTC deposed. I'll be happy to receive my 0.01 BTC bonus  Cheesy... 0.7 BTC is just to stimulate others, but I don't really see any reason to deposit anything in there (so, if I'll deposit more it doesn't reflect my future profit)... Everybody is just waiting for something.

Member №31 http://bitcoinpyramid.com/member/31 has a very strange balance 6.0E-5 btc

There is a reason to deposit more: more money you deposit - more chances you have to be selected for random payments and random referrals (see rules for details). Thus it influences your future profit.

Regarding strange balance: member #31 deposited 0.00006 btc and for some reason this sum was formatted as 6.0E-5. I fixed it on that page (now all the values are shown with 8 digits after the point), and I plan to fix it on all other pages too.

PS: 0.01 btc has been sent to you, thank you very much for your support & feedback!

seems like everything is ok: 7 blocks during last 2 hours
1188  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: Bitcoin Pyramid [alpha-stage, 0.01 btc for first newcomers!] on: July 16, 2011, 05:20:18 PM
I agree that a higher threshold for withdrawals is a good idea. Too many small transactions can make it expensive to get the bitcoins out of the wallet again.

You could keep the internal threshold lower, though, so that people can enjoy watching the decimals add up until it reaches the withdrawal threshold. Smiley

It would be nice to have 2 thresholds (internal and external). Maybe I'll implement it later.

I've increased the threshold to 0.021 (thus minimum withdrawal is 0.01 btc now).
1189  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: Bitcoin Pyramid [alpha-stage, 0.01 btc for first newcomers!] on: July 16, 2011, 04:06:16 PM
Your threshold seems to need some fixing. Just got a 0.0045 payment to sent to me.

When member's balance hits the threshold all the following happen: 0.001 btc goes to pyramid, 50% goes to sponsor and 50% to member's wallet. You can see the details in the "history" page (the history is shown in reverse chronological order).  Do you think it's worth of increasing the threshold to 0.021 btc?
1190  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: Bitcoin Pyramid [alpha-stage, 0.01 btc for first newcomers!] on: July 16, 2011, 02:04:50 PM
Will you add more levels in a future, better-than-alpha version? Getting paid from the downline when referrals refer even more people is usually the best part of a good pyramid scheme.

The number of levels is not limited: each sponsor gets 50% of his/her children's income when it hits 0.01 btc (and pays 50% of that to his/her sponsor).

I'm sorry if I didn't make it clear (I tried, honestly, but english is not my native language Smiley)

PS: Thank you very much for your feedback! I've sent 0.01 btc to your withdrawal address.
1191  Economy / Investor-based games / Bitcoin Pyramid [Beta] - the oldest working pyramid? [OLD THREAD] on: July 16, 2011, 12:28:29 PM
This is an old thread. Bitcoin Pyramid was sold to user bitcoinpyramid. Please see the new official thread here

Hi!

I just developed Bitcoin Pyramid (inspired by Bitcoin Randomizer).

Here are some features:
- no password or email address needed
- no limitations on hierarchy depth
- no limitations on the size of membership fee (you can start with 0 btc!)
- about a half of deposited money goes to random members
- new members that do not follow referral links become referrals of random members
- automatic payouts when income hits the threshold (0.01 0.021 btc currently)
- all the pyramid info is published on the site, daily backups of the whole mysql database are available at http://bitcoinpyramid.com/backups
- due to previous 2 features, there is almost nothing to hack!

It is in alpha beta-stage yet, I will be grateful for any questions, comments and bug reports.

One time offer for unique forum members: if you get registered in Bitcoin Pyramid with Member Id <= 50 100 >= 422, then please send me your Member Id before I strike out this sentence and I will send 0.01 btc to your withdrawal address.

You can now earn 15% of your bitcoin deposit to bitcoinpyramid back at ABitBack.com. Just make sure you clear your cookies before clicking through to bitcoinpyramid via abitback.com.
1192  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie restrictions on: July 14, 2011, 04:39:53 PM
Then you're simply making it a pay-to-use website, which is probably not the best for the community. 4 hours and 5 posts is not a huge amount, it really shouldn't take you that long if you actually plan to be active in the future.

I don't think it would make it pay-to-use website since:
1) deposited money could be returned back after the person actually spends 4 hours and submits 5 meaningful posts (if he/she is not a troll).
2) it could be just an option for those who don't want to spend 4 hours for posting 5 meaningless posts Smiley
1193  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie restrictions on: July 12, 2011, 11:39:05 PM
I've got an idea:

There should be a faster alternative way of becoming a member (for those who do not want to spend 4 hours and write 5 posts).

For example, a newbie could donate 0.01 btc and automatically become a member.

Or he/she could make a deposit of 0.1 btc (which would automatically returned to her/him after she/he publishes N useful posts and spends M hours online).

I don't think trolls are ready to pay/risk their money.
1194  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What would you buy with bitcoins? on: July 12, 2011, 11:27:13 PM
Oh, I just realized... I would buy this forum membership for 0.01 btc Smiley
1195  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What would you buy with bitcoins? on: July 12, 2011, 11:19:25 PM
I have very few bitcoins, and it becomes more difficult to mine them.

I wouldn't buy anything unless I start receiving income in bitcoins or they become expensive enough to buy something decent like a car or a house Smiley

If I start receiving salary or other significant income in bitcoins, then I would buy everything needed for life just like I do with fiat money. Though if I receive both fiat money and bitcoins, then I would spend fiat money first Smiley
1196  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin Price Predictions on: July 12, 2011, 10:18:56 PM
I think everything depends on us. We need to develop and advertise bitcoin services. World economy size is estimated as 7*10^13 US dollars (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_economy). If all people use bitcoins instead of fiat money, then all this value will be expressed in 2*10^7 bitcoins, that is $3 500 000 per bitcoin Smiley I think it will never happen, but I would be happy if we could get 0.01% of that by 2012 ($350/btc) Smiley

I am sorry to hear about the attack too. I hope Bitcoin Randomizer will survive!
