1181  Other / Off-topic / Re: What do you think of Windows 11? on: August 27, 2021, 01:12:01 PM
I like the new edition of Windows 11 because it has the Mac feel to it and I like how there is integrated apps for android and Xbox.
Which just means more bloatware crap that businesses have to remove or barring that disable. Odds are even the Enterprise versions will have Edge, Cortana, gaming and shopping crap loaded in it.
1182  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you Smoke? on: August 27, 2021, 01:00:47 PM
Yes I do and have for over 50 years with no desire or need to quit.
Still healthy as a horse with zero issues other than it costing $80 per week for a carton of cigarettes.
1183  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Has crypto cloud mining got market? on: August 27, 2021, 12:41:14 PM
Cloud mining does not belong here in the Bitcoin mining section. No crap coins and only dealing with directly mining Bitcoin. PERIOD. Read the Rules pinned to the top of the section... Mainly point-6
Quote
6. All virtual mining - such as cloud mining, purchasing hashrate etc. is a service and NOT bitcoin mining. Discussion regarding cloud mining, contracts, hosting services, renting hashrate etc. belong in the economic services subforum and not the mining subsection.

edit: moved by mods to where it belongs  Wink
1184  Other / Off-topic / Re: What do you think of Windows 11? on: August 26, 2021, 01:42:26 PM
Very legit and has been available for several years. Comes with 2 device emulator files for Galaxy S8 Plus and Galaxy S20+. Downloads are available for several other Android devices as well. Best yet is that is absolutely free.

While it runs decently on a PC with only 4GB ram, it is perfect with 8GB memory or more. Ya can even choose between Intel/AMD graphics or external GPU's on laptops to keep a decent battery life when not plugged in.
1185  Other / Politics & Society / Re: How to best set up land property rights post-21st century government? on: August 26, 2021, 01:31:11 PM
There is a lot of opposition among the people regarding land property no one will be able to enjoy if they are registered. The Government may if it so desires or deems it necessary to attach any sub registrar's office under the registrar to any registrar's office and to exercise all the powers and responsibilities of the registrar in addition to its own powers and duties. Can delegate the power to do giving such power shall not give any sub registrar the right to hear any application brought against any of his own orders.
What in the hell does that mishmash of a word salad even mean?  Huh
Hopefully it started out as a coherent statement in a different language and got very badly munged by a translator....

But my friend uses bitcoin and bitcoin is illegal in our country.
That, in a nutshell is the crux of his problem. Despite the fact that you and him know that is illegal in your country you still chose to use BTC and are now bemoaning the predictable results of your illegal activity?  Roll Eyes

While I will agree that it is a shame that your government has declared crypto illegal, nonetheless you were knowingly breaking the law so no pity from here folks.
1187  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: bfgminer wont start, plz help on: August 26, 2021, 01:29:05 AM
All Antminers are self-contained and are already running a ASIC chip-specific fork of cgminer done by the maker. Same for all Avalons from Canaan. Nothing for you to change there.
So usb miners you mentioned are the only choice for me, if I stick to open source cgminer?
If you are intent on running copy of cgminer on a PC to play with it, yes. That said - up to Canaan's A10xx series all the Avalons are running cgminer on RasPi's along with using OpenWrT so you can play there as well.

That said, the Avalons are eminently tweakable by using the Other Commands option box for their GUI display of cgminer.

Also windows 11 is capable of running android apps which is the biggest thing in my opinion.
Just use Blustacks on top of W10. It emulates a Samsung phone and flawlessly runs all Android apps - esp games. Raid look gorgeous on a large screen  Smiley
1190  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Be aware of fake firmware floating around. on: August 25, 2021, 10:54:21 PM
So when you take the pool fee they are not mining for you? Clearly your pool is not 0% fee... Not like it matters anymore with that hashrate...
As you know full well, running a pool is a service and guess what? Running that service costs money so yes there is a charge. Show me a pool that does not charge a fee of some sort. As you also know it is the lowest fees charged by ANY pool.

edit: let us also not forget that Kano runs 7 nodes around the planet to ensure minimum time between miners and their interaction with the BTC network, each node of course has a backup for it. Again that costs money and unlike a certain solo pool operator, Kano has never hinted at nor gotten any donations to run the pool despite currently running at a loss from our small size. Like -ck he made a fair bit of BTC in the early years so Kano paying out-of-pocket is not a real problem. Just sayin'

The 0.9% fee for main and 0.5% fee for solo when a block is found is a helluva less impact on miner income vs a continuous albeit small few % periodic diversion of hashrate from each piece of hardware running dev-fee firmware be it open or closed source.
1191  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Best graphic card to mine BTC and Altcoins on: August 25, 2021, 10:46:02 PM
For mining BTC - NONE. Difficulty for mining Bitcoin killed killed any chances of using GPU's since around 2013. Only ASIC-based mining works anymore.

For mining alts see the ALTCOIN areas like here This area is for Bitcoin only.

OMG!I just realized that you are THE GUY that developed cgminer!!The original GOD of all miners!
Im just starting here, a lot to learn.
I see now I should buy a ASIC miner first, I can run cgminer on it right?(dont know how yet)
Can u recommend a specific ASIC miner compatible with cgminer with a price within 300 USD. It feels like where I should start.
As Kano will tell you, one of the Primary developers and arguably 2nd largest contributor of code in cgminer (largest in ckpool) is more accurate as they are the work of several people.
Link to his git https://github.com/kanoi/cgminer

Um, just look in the Hardware section of the forum for the small USB-based miners...
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1764803.0 is Sidehacks original small USB sticks
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5053833.0 is his newer USB sticks and his Terminus pod miner
Those are all in production and available through several resellers including several on Amazon and eBay
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5355470.0 is his latest one now in final testing

Also there is https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5340015.0 which is jstefanop's Apollo combined BTC Node & miner

So by this logic, you are OK with it if some shop owner decides not to take any vaxxed guy/gal in.
Yes. Just as it may be someones right to not be vaccinated, it is certainly a business owners right to refuse service to those who are not same as 'no shirt, no shoes, no service' rules.

In the same vein of this discussion, one often comes across the mention of microchips being in <your pick of delivery methods> to control people. Um, just *how* are these mythical control chips supposed to work? eg, how are they powered? What is the control mechanism? How do they communicate with Those Who Control? etc. If it wasn't for so many utterly clueless folks believing in them the idea would be beyond laughable.

You *do* know that there is a physical limit to the minimum size a functional chip (for anything) can be made right? Guess what - it's far too large to be introduced into a body without it causing serious blockages in the circulatory systems. Implantable chips, yes. Injectable ones - NO. Then there is the little fact of the needle size used for vaccinations - the smallest functional chips produces so far are over 100x the I.D. of vax needles. ref https://newatlas.com/neural-dust-wellbeing-inside/44738/?itm_source=newatlas&itm_medium=article-body

Dude - copy/pasting snippets from articles without links to the source is PLAGERISM. That will quickly lead to being banned.
Even worse - that is very old information mentioning GPU which are useless for mining Bitcoin.
1195  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Farm on fire on: August 25, 2021, 12:37:39 AM
It will be cheaper if you do it by yourself, it’s really easy and if you have some electrical questions, just ask.
Bullshit. You are not talking about adding a few low power outlets to a room or opening up and working on a moderately low power (compared to commercial/industrial capacity) household breaker panel.

The knowledge required to properly and above all - SAFELY - do the wiring for 10's to several 100's of kW of power is vastly different. Even more to the point usually mining farms are a business that should carry insurance - that is not going to happen if it has not been wired by licensed professionals.
1196  Other / Politics & Society / Re: How to best set up land property rights post-21st century government? on: August 24, 2021, 08:50:46 PM
But what happens after Caesar's govt collapses?
Then all bets on the idea of enforceable property rights are off. For that matter - any sort of rights. As in the past it simply becomes a matter of who is better armed and is the better shot. Ya know, "Might makes Right".

Who pays how much for electricity?
Just google 'cost of electricity' including what country/state/county/province/etc you care about. You'll get far better information vs comments from random people who could be living anywhere on the planet.
1199  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If bitcoin go high the poor will not participate on: August 24, 2021, 08:18:28 PM
Where is it said anywhere that Bitcoin was created with 'The Poor' in mind? Ans.: Nowhere. No currency, or investment vehicle is designed with them in mind.

That said, as many have already pointed out if a poor person does desire to invest in BTC they can for just a few dollars. Only problem is that most of 'The Poor' never invest in anything but rather have to spend and live for-the-moment with very little (if any) saving for a rainy day. That's just how Life is.
1200  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: About block size limit and transactions fees on: August 24, 2021, 04:49:27 PM
According to https://ycharts.com/indicators/bitcoin_average_cost_per_transaction, for bitcoin, the avg cost per transaction was 231.90 USD yesterday (inflation + commissions), which is a lot higher than the avg cost for a CC transaction.
$231.90?  Cheesy One little problem with stats like that - zero information as to what their average value of the transaction is. It sure as hell is not just a few dollars like the average cc Tx nor even just a few thousand. When I cashed out over $40k in BTC last December to pay off my mortgage the fee was around $30 as I recall. Fees like that require average Tx values in the 100's of k$.

In short - when the basis of data used is not given it is a useless statistic.
