The usual band of idiots have no idea what they are talking about... what a surprise.  For those wondering, everything PG, PL, et al is completely false and as usual they are just making things up without that pesky reality thing getting in the way.

Then provide the valid information. BFL, as a joke, stopped being funny months ago. We're all sitting here waiting for the punchline.

Joke Structure: Setup, Punchline, Tag (optional)

Obviously, BFL is still at the setup stage.

We have never once claimed we are going to be ready to use these machines with the first shipping batch. Not once. They are not now nor have ever have they been intended to be used with our first batch of shipping product (and probably not the second). They are a long term solution.

It would be utterly silly to bring anyone in here now, while we are moving so they can help us move... heck, actually, if they want to come and help us move, by all means!

If the chips arrived today, we'd be shipping by next week you can be sure of that.

I know people want hard dates, but we don't have them to give a lot of times and then people get frustrated because I don't post an update... but when I do post an update and give a fuzzy date, people get upset because I'm not giving a hard date. So do people want me to post an update with fuzzy dates, or wait until I have a hard date to post an update? I'm fine with either method.

Which begs the question why you're using valuable resources to maintain a capable team to run machinery that's not needed?

we've purchased an entire SMT assembly suite and hired a capable team to run it.

VC: That's some operation you have here! What's the punchline?
BFL: That's the best part! Wait for it.. To feed the Trolls.
VC: I'm a lovin' it! Here's another blank check. Keep up the good work.
BFL: Thanks, VC.
VC: Next time get a bigger place. Those capable guys pretending to run those machines need more room to work. (exercising optional tag)
BFL & VC: Hehehehehehe!!!

Curious as to which parts of my assessment are false. Would you be so kind as to point them out, Josh?

Thanks, bud.

We just moved the oven to the new facility... hopefully we can get it and the pick and place machine installed and picture worthy in the next couple weeks.

Our laser is awesome! I will post some pictures and video of it in action. I have an almost uncontrollable urge to go Duke Nukem in the back room, rip the laser off it's mount and start zapping people.

Is 10770 El Monte the new facility you mentioned above? (As Elmer Fudd would say, "Be very, very, careful when answering that.")
11823  Bitcoin / Hardware / [Archive] BFL trolling museum on: December 24, 2012, 01:51:46 AM
In other words, they were never ready to build a sizable assembly line?

IF what PG is pointing out is true, there was zero chance of there being an earlier shipment prior to now (or whenever they end up actually shipping).

They drew out the delays a piece at a time?

Coupled with I really don't see how they're even going to be able to manufacture subsequent batches at this facility. This is a shipping facility at best where their offices will be located. Not an assembly plant.

Finally our new space is nearing completion and we are moving to Kansas. It's only about 15 miles but it will give us more room to build several lines at once. If you have anything to ship to us our new address is: 10770 El Monte Street, Suite 101, Leawood, KS 66211. We share the building with a building contractor. We may be a little slow on Thursday answering emails, but we'll be back online as soon as we can.

Ergo, nothing of BFL's was at the new facility prior to Thursday.

Quote
...it will give us more room to build several lines at once.

Unless office space was eliminated, we're still talking about ONLY 1200 SF of warehouse/assembly space to build several lines at once. This is the flex space.

Cassidy Turley does a pretty good job of keeping their lease space availability sheet updated:

As of Thursday, November 1, 2012: http://www.cassidyturley.com/Portals/0/Kansas%20City/KC%20Industrial%20Listings%20Report%2011.1.12.pdf
As of Monday, December 3, 2012: http://www.cassidyturley.com/Portals/0/Kansas%20City/KC%20Industrial%20Listings%20Report%2012.1.12.pdf

So there was no way that eBay oven was at the new facility prior to Nov. 1.

In House assembly:

One of the key bottlenecks in electronics production is PCB assembly. Outsourcing SMT to shared time equipment is the traditional solution. Outsourcing is much cheaper but it also comes at the high cost of limited flexibility. You often find yourself at the mercy of competing interests for tightly scheduled machine time. National holidays bring everything to a halt... sometimes for up to a month depending on the country.

The bottom line is that if you really want to control production speed, you have to bring PCB assembly in house. Then, if needed, weekends and 24 hour shifts can keep the production line moving to satisfy quick delivery of customer orders.

To this end we've purchased an entire SMT assembly suite and hired a capable team to run it. These units are currently being installed in our new facility.

Installed at a new facility that wasn't leased yet?

I'm also having a problem envisioning a facility assembling computer parts sharing a building with a construction company. Wouldn't there be a dust issue?

Like i I said, when you accuse somebody of something, it is okay, but when somebody accuses you of the same things you accuse somebody else of, its it's, "how do you know.? Yyou never met me." This asinine kind of reasoning is just too silly to even go into. No doubt many people can see it, except CHharlie cContent himself. . But However, you know this double standard he shows asserts my earlier statement: He would have done the EXACT same thing, if he'd  been in that position. . The guy is SUpPErR Hypocritical. .. And, no doubt, very immature and amateuristic. ARren't'ja cCharley XD

And now, he tries to win the argument by throwing it over my english mishaps.. lol.

You're both dumb.

Pawned by the Grammar Furry! (sorry, Rassah, but I couldn't resist)  Grin

I'm probably one of the few people here who has never used any encryption software.

That's nothing to be proud of.

Gulp! I retract what I was going to pen. ---> I haven't even explored any encryption option.

Yeah right, now im a troll... But you are another victim of Roger's marketing/advertising attempt.

Nethead, it's possible that you have people leaning toward your way of thinking, but as you continue the current route you're taking, those same people will start abandoning their new found position.

Case in point, I stand fully behind Roger, albeit possibly not as close as prior to this episode thanks to you. This is not meant as a diss toward you or Roger, but by choosing your words more carefully, you'll be able retain those in your camp. Likewise, by becoming silent, possibly retains the same amount of people. But continue the diatribe, you'll have a massive campfire, but not many around to enjoy it.

To be clear, I'm not trying to silence you. I'm merely saying to state your facts in a softer tone. Remember the adage: You get more with honey than with vinegar.

I also want to add a notation.

Keep in mind that a BFL rep recently stated that they don't want their competition to know how large their operation is.

Question: Did the VC (Venture Capital) come from a source that expects to be paid in Hardware OR Hardware + Cash?

The reason I ask is, currently most are assuming that the BFL VC (who currently remain anonymous) will be paid back in $$$. What if that isn't the case?

What if they have "other orders" they need to fulfill that does not come from the orders placed on these forum communities? Again, this is hinted/implied in emails as well as public statements.

I think the actual number of units may be much more than what is currently estimated. BFL may have a private obligation to build hardware for an anonymous company. So the hashrate estimates different folks are using may be off by quite a margin.

There may be public orders AND sizable private orders. If there are (or were) 1000 BFL customers, there is no way to tell how many private (off the books?) customers there are.

They might not even use the website to checkout their orders.

Assuming what you state is true, done correctly there would be no way to know for sure how many of the ASIC mining rigs hashing coins is done by those who purchased units or by those paid in kind if the x + y is strictly followed (x = actual buyers). But as soon as the equation becomes x + yz, the cat is out of the bag.

Rather than trying to explain it, why not go for brand awareness and have something simple like:

Bitcoin is money

Your idea is in the slogan/motto range, while we're trying to explain what is Bitcoin to the masses in as few words as possible.

Remember, it was a couple months ago we were shown the eBay oven being unloaded at their new warehouse, a different facility than this one which, according to Jody, they started moving into yesterday.

I'm not sure why you keep bringing this up. What are you implying? They took delivery at their old building, then had to move it to the new one. Is there some sinister undertone to that that I'm missing?

EDIT 1: Oh, I get it now. Nevermind. Although your assumption that real estate listings are updated in a timely manner is shaky at best.

EDIT 2: "As of Nov. 14th, space was still available" - is that because of this from the third link: "Last Verified 11/14/2012"? Because you skimmed over the part in that flyer where it says "Industrial Property - Off-Market"

EDIT 3: There's also a link to click for some kind of history on the property, which without paying to see the full details, shows several activities for the property in October, coinciding with the dates BFL said. So I don't see the problem, they had the big stuff delivered to the new place before they moved their office stuff over there.

Nothing to see here. Move along.

Your post has merit.

I do want to state that I didn't purposely omit the Off-market aspect if it was on the page I viewed showing the 11/14 date. I did see such a notice on another site, thus verifying that somebody has leased it, safely assuming now it was by BFL.

I have implied that this is the third iteration of a warehouse/assembly location, with Christ Vleisides photo studio being the first (though not confirmed) and the second being the place having all the parts in storage readied for assembly, coupled with the eBay oven aspect.

Perhaps this is the only other warehouse, and the 11/14 still available date tossed me (now us) a loop.

Switching gears here, that 10770 El Monte building is neat with all the green tech built in and all. Plus the location near the interstate is a plus. It would be awesome if somehow a large Bitcoin logo/flag can be put up for all the passerbys to see.

Peace, bro.

How about something simple like "Nip'n'Bust Cleaning Service?" Or are you looking for 2* entandres?

You should probably keep it clean, subtle and witty. That way customers don't have to be embarrassed when a van with a big "Topless Cleaners Inc." sticker on the side shows up.

Exactly what I was thinking when I offered up Dustnam Style oppose to Bustnam Style, but upon now seeing it penned, it doesn't look or seem that bad. That said, a little alteration may be all it needs--Bosam' Style. (variant of bosom, plus variant of em') If you feel Bosom Style would work, fine. The key is that Gangnam Style is all the rage and you should monopolize on that.

Consider using a sexing looking feather duster, one like you've seen a French maid using, as a graphic element oppose to breast.

If a van is going to be the transportation of choice, make sure it's has massive appeal. Any suggestions as to what type or kind of vehicle would be best for this endeavor?

Quote
In 2010, Heifer International President Jo Luck was named a co-laureate of the prestigious World Food Prize.

Heifer International received the 2006 Social Capitalist award from Fast Company magazine.

Heifer International also received the 2004 Conrad N. Hilton Humanitarian Prize for its efforts to eliminate hunger and help communities become self-sustaining. It was the first US-based organization to win the $1 million award since 1997.[3]

In 2003, Heifer International was named one of Forbes magazine's top 10 charities.[4]

In 2007, the Heifer International Headquarters building was named one of the American Institute of Architects Committee on the Environment Top Ten Green Projects.[5]

In 2008, the Heifer International Headquarters building was named a National AIA (American Institute of Architects) Institute Honor Award Winner.[6]

Seriously, I'm sure we could run EVERY single charitable organization into the ground, including Bitcoin 100.

I believe the key point in starting this thread was to show how one entity has teamed up with another bringing awareness to Bitcoin, but some dickhead--ME--had to present some interesting facts.

When I first starting reading about the 'Give a Goat' programs, I was excited (and still am to some degree) and starting thinking in the 'what if' mode as to how such a program can be intertwined with Bitcoin in a more efficient manner upon seeing the various price points for the same goat.

The bottom line is that CoinLab has their first prospect, an important step in gaining their next, just like when Bitcoin 100 got its first. Surely not ideal, but by no means a failure.

All and all, you have to admit that it's pretty funny that we're arguing over goats which, BTW, I'm wondering what the fuck he's been up to lately.

11840  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [ANNOUNCE] btctip.com- send bitcoins with a tweet on: December 22, 2012, 05:32:58 AM
(the following is not meant as humor)

I like this service, albeit I've yet to use it. I see potential here. Imagine a user named TweetaGoat. Their sole purpose is to garner enough micro donations to send to some charitable organization that has a "Give a Goat" program in place. I'm only using goat as an example because it's currently trending on BitconTalk, but any worthwhile cause would work. The main drawback is that there currently isn't enough Tweeps using Bitcoin to make it work, but givin' time some notable is going to come along and bring this service awareness via some viral event.

Surely people would have no problem learning the easy system, for many of them already know how to text a five digit code to send to non-profits via SMS. Virtually the same principal here, but with a twist--it's done with all to see. A lot of people our hooked on themselves and would love the fact that they can share with the world what they did, oppose to via SMS where the transfer is private for all practical concerns.

I just realized that I'm penning this from a charitable standpoint oppose from a tipping service standpoint, but the process applies nonetheless.

It sure would be nice if all the transactions were continuously tallied. Imagine the impact once a million US dollars were sent via Twitter, all with virtually no fees. That would be awesome!
