11841  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: PP Chargeback on: March 25, 2015, 07:26:41 PM
I dont understand how sending it as a gift wont stop a chargeback,

I sent PP as a gift and got screwed over (10 bucks big deal), when I went to do chargeback it wouldnt even let me.

Big red letters, cannot chargeback since payments was not for goods or services.

People keep saying if you do gift chargebacks can still happen easily.

I understand maybe if they pay with credit card but what if it is paypal fund or ACH payment?

That is not a charge-back!
What you are referring to is a dispute!

When you make a gift payment, it is true that you cannot file a dispute at PayPal's Resolution Center.
However, if your payment was made via a credit card, you CAN file a charge-back with your bank.
This will immediately reverse the transaction and send the money back to the credit card holders account.

When you do a charge back on a paypal item.  Yes you get money on most cards instantly but paypal still talks to your credit card company.  In a way I would make a argument it's just a different kind of dispute.

I know I unfortunately used charge back on some cooling gear.  Paypal was still involved with my credit card company.   Eventually over a month later I finally got replacement for broken products and charge back went to seller.
11842  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What is the fastest place to buy bitcoin with a debit card online? on: March 25, 2015, 07:19:55 PM
I agree with the others that said coinbase.  I'm not sure on the credit/debit thing, but a debit card can be used as a credit card anyway in my experience.

Coinbase is a great solution.  Set up a checking account just for it, and it's pretty secure.   If you get to top tier level you can get coins instant (lower levels price is locked in but you wait a few days)
11843  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Using Same Bitcoin Address? on: March 25, 2015, 07:15:43 PM
It isn't hard to create a new address for each transaction is it? better to be safe than sorry! Smiley

I don't see how this provides much extra security.  If you access wallet each time and it has all these addresses, I don't think it matters if compromised.

I think security is more about your wallet then amount of address's you use.
11844  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Does anyone have any recommendations on mining hardware and a pool? on: March 25, 2015, 06:37:53 PM
Thanks a lot for your help! I have been looking at the Antminer S3 and it seems like a good option. Do you have any recommendations on a pool to join?

Can I ask your location?  That is a very nice electricity price.

I like antpool personally a lot, have used others aswell.  I suggest using 3 different pools so it has 2 backups in your S3 if you go with that.  If you search bitcoin pool comparison you can find a lot out including percent of market each make up.
11845  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Tutorial: How to keep your Bitcoin 100% secure! on: March 25, 2015, 06:22:31 PM
Very nice tutorial!  Good instructions, and pictures I give it a thumbs up.
11846  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Does anyone have any recommendations on mining hardware and a pool? on: March 25, 2015, 06:20:27 PM
Thanks for the reply! My electricity is currently at $0.06/KWh (Price in USD)

Assuming that is with taxes that is quite good.  Can I ask location? (not anything like address just like state or country if out of US)

With that you are lucky as you can go into previous gen's.  I would say anything S3 and up.  (I suggest getting the S3+ if you go that route as it normally is not much higher for a better unit).  You can get these off ebay.

If you don't have PSU's keep in mind you need to buy a psu.  Also summer is coming so I suggest starting slow and building up if you want more.  Work on exhaust and find a good way before throwing a lot of cash in.

If you want pretty much most efficient chips then look at S5, SP20, Avalon 4.1.

You can do exact calculations here: https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/calculator
11847  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: BITMAIN announces Antpool on: March 25, 2015, 06:13:14 PM
You can try it now!  But Please always set a backup pool

I really am wanting to go back to this pool.  Any information on if still being affected by DDOS?  Or is it safe to change to main pool again?

Thank you I will give it a go!  I have backup set up and will give report how it goes.

*Initial results look good.  Not losing hash to attacks, and miners all seem to be connecting good.
11848  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Who Are The Manufactures Currently Selling Chips ? on: March 25, 2015, 06:09:52 PM
Probably if you got the cash to make them deal with you.

ASICMiner, Avalon, Bitfury, Bitmain, Spondoolies, and if your daring KNC

I'm not sure on ASICMiner if they are if you keep up reading stuff about them in last month.
11849  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Does anyone have any recommendations on mining hardware and a pool? on: March 25, 2015, 05:49:34 PM
My first question for someone getting gear is almost always the same.  What price is your electricity?  This decides if you go with older gear, or new more efficient gear.
11850  Other / Meta / Re: trust on: March 25, 2015, 05:44:30 PM
For the beginners reading this.  My biggest suggestion is don't go straight to the loan forum.  I have seen a lot of bad feedback for new people who go asking for a loan.

Also don't get in forum battles with people.  It is a waste of your time, and ultimately chances are a negative feedback.
11851  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: i want create company . on: March 25, 2015, 05:28:46 PM
The hard part about your mining company part is getting backers.  Unless you front a lot of costs yourself I don't see a lot of investors. There are already a lot of companies doing it (with HUGE backing on some).

No if you had a BTC idea never done, it's a better chance of getting backing.

11853  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [ANN] HashCoins - Cryptocurrency Mining Hardware Manufacturer on: March 25, 2015, 05:22:22 PM
The claim that it is a rebadged Scrypt miner is easily supported.  I'm sure it's been mentioned several times in this thread already, but just googling around:

Just to be clear, there are chip markings on the Ares chips, but I had to blank them due to an NDA.

Hmmm interesting bit of information.  Anyone have a Ares they can open up?  I just wonder if they have another brand on chips.  They did all split the chips.

Just a guess no proof in my theory at all.
11854  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: As of the latest diff change.... WHERE DID ALL THE HASHRATE COME FROM?!?!?! on: March 25, 2015, 05:19:25 PM
The only hardware we know is a batch of S5's.  But they shipped now.

So whoever it is I don't believe has made a announcement.  There is lot's of speculation but no real info yet.
11855  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Using Same Bitcoin Address? on: March 25, 2015, 04:51:41 PM
The reasons why some people suggest/use different address for new transaction is to stay anonymous and they feel it's safe to move to an unused Key/address that has never seen the lights of the internet(cold-storage). As long as you can keep your Private Key safe and if you're not worried about others knowing your Bitcoin balance, you can keep using the same address as many times as you want.

For ex. If I were you, I would only keep a very small amount of Btc (less than 1) in the Electrum that stays on-line for my day to day needs and move the rest of my funds to a safer cold storage wallet.

It all depends on if your compromised.  Even if you store in different addresss'es if stored all the same if one is compromised chances are all will be.

As as being anonymous since you are putting coins in them without a way to try to hide where they come from chances are it's not anonymous.

I suggest using a cold storage for majority you have held.  And a little bit in a hot wallet easy to get to for purchases.   I think hot and cold wallet is more important then using different address's
11856  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Has mining (vs. simply buying) ever been profitable? on: March 25, 2015, 04:39:08 PM
Most apartment have limited number of outlets one can use. Unless its a large 3-4 bedroom apartment which is rare to find. Some 1 bedroom apartment only have 2 breakers.

Apartments normally are not the best for mining.  With owning your house you can modify it to exhust without making landlord mad.

Also as a house I have 2 electrical lines coming into my house. Allows for much more power.
11857  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to Show balances of Several Accounts? on: March 25, 2015, 03:17:10 PM
Look at cryptoglance i you don't mind running a program on PC.   You can also have it add multiple BTC accounts together to show sum of what's in them.
11858  Other / Meta / Re: trust on: March 25, 2015, 03:15:40 PM
If they are inactive it is a bad deal since you will be stuck with it.  It's really meant for you to get with other person and find a resolution.

But if they randomly gave you one not much you can do.  The only thing I see is it looks like two of them are because you left them negative trust.  Sadly right or wrong if you leave a negative there is a decent chance other person will do same to you.

But since not in default trust you don't show up bad is the good thing.
11859  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Has mining (vs. simply buying) ever been profitable? on: March 25, 2015, 03:10:26 PM
There is absolute no free energy, that some let other pay for them does not mean its free.
I know alot of students who rented a room which inlcuded energy prices, some of these now have to pay for energy because a previous renter took advantage over the back of others.
A person who i know which leases appartements changed all his contracts for the rentals because some where mining massively in these appartments.
One person even fled from the country because he has a outstanding debt he probably never can pay, because this owner won in court (mining is not considered as normal usage of energy in a rented house).
You can/could only make a fair profit ( so above ROI ) if you have/had a large amount of miners and have cutting edge machines and very low power prices.
If you have time to trade and buy coins you probably can make a bit more profit, unless bitcoin jumps again at a extreme high value.
But i do not expect that to happen anytime soon, it might happen in a few years or not at all.
There is a bubble going on in the stock markets its probably even making it harder for bitcoin to gain some serious value.
Its visible in the Gold market as well, stocks go up precious metals goes down.

Were these apartment complex's or something rented from individuals?

I could be out of it but the big apartments I went to pretty much could have cared less on electricity.  I didn't mine as my roommates would have had to pay a "peek" fee of 25 dollars per month.   But I never once heard of the big apartment complex's being mad over electricity, normally they had bigger things to worry about.

Are you using a laptop?

If not what computer are you using?  I have never had one overheat from the just downloading the BTC chain.
