11841  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What did you know about Bitcoin before becoming a bitcoiner? on: September 09, 2019, 02:38:58 AM
i learned about bitcoin back in 2012- early 2013 and what i heard was that there is this thing called bitcoin which you can generate on your PC and sell it for a good profit. my friend was mining bitcoin and was earning money. so i never bothered with it back then!

then again in 2014 i heard about it again but this time i heard there is this thing called bitcoin that you could use to make payments online without any restrictions or middleman,... so i was hooked. and that's when i entered bitcoin.
11842  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Massive $1 Billion Bitcoin Whale Transaction Makes Waves on: September 09, 2019, 02:28:09 AM
this is already an old news from many days ago and there are multiple topics discussing this with no purpose. and that address has a higher chance of belonging to a big service instead of a big whale, specially since whales don't keep all their coins in one address, they spread them around for this very reason (so people don't see what they do that easily!).
11843  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Malware attack on btc blockchain through Electrum Wallet ? on: September 08, 2019, 07:49:37 AM
~
Thanks a lot for taking time to analyse this . I was concerned over this . So this means electrum is safe & windows needs to be made more secure .

no problem.
and essentially yes. the malware is just using bitcoin nodes that have the ElectrumX software installed to index their database to fetch the transaction. the wallet is not even involved, in other words they are using the protocol.
you have to keep your computer safe from the malware in first place which is said to initially be spread by "get paid to install" micojobs.
11844  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Do you think this site is a scam or legit? www.digitfunds.com on: September 08, 2019, 04:47:28 AM
haha, if they had such a successful business model to give such a gigantic profit in a short time then they wouldn't have needed your investment Cheesy

Rather invest in masternodes or new ICO projects. There many that would appreciate your investment.

in other words you are telling him to escape one scam and run towards another (ICO).
as for masternodes, they are super risky because first of all you have to store a large amount of cryptocurrency in an online wallet that could be hacked. then there is the fact that you are buying a large amount of an altcoin and we know how altcoins get dumped hard. that dump can easily eat through your profit and your capital at the same time.
11845  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bakkt on: September 08, 2019, 04:28:54 AM

The market dumped ($10,950 to $10,250) right after this news came out. "Buy the rumor, sell the news" strikes again! Granted, I think the reasons were more technical.....the mode around $10,800 and this trend line. But the timing was so sweet, I had to mention it. Tongue

lol, yeah it was funny and coincidental to see price go down a little after this news instead of shooting up. but there was no connection though. it was just another indication of the panic mode being ON these days since the price didn't break into $11k range some panic began and the price took a dive but since it was panic it recovered back up to $10.5 again.
11846  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Alert! Alert] Bitcoin QR Generator” lead to scam websites. on: September 08, 2019, 04:17:33 AM
I never scanned a qr code.  I don't trust them.  Basically why scan something you cant read into your phone which can have lots of info stolen from it.

that's not how it works!
the QR code can't steal anything from your phone when you scan it. i don't know which scanning app you use but usually what they do is simply they "translate" the squares into a human readable string. that's all. they don't run anything, or read anything from your phone.
11847  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Malware attack on btc blockchain through Electrum Wallet ? on: September 08, 2019, 04:05:19 AM
there is a malware called Glupteba that has been infecting computers for a couple of years. it exploits vulnerabilities in windows,... to infect and then steals sensitive information. later on it added a Monero miner to its code to also mine this altcoin on user's computers.
there is no bitcoin involved so far.

then there is this:
Quote
A router exploiter that attacks MikroTik routers in local network with the CVE-2018-14847 vulnerability. It will schedule a task on the router for command and control (C&C) and upload the stolen administrator credentials to a remote server. A compromised router will be configured as a SOCKS proxy to relay malicious traffic, matching the original purpose of the Glupteba botnet on Windows.

whenever they want to change these C&C servers they create a new bitcoin transaction to an address hardcoded in the malware and put the server address in its new OP_RETURN output.
then the malware uses the bitcoin network to fetch that bitcoin transaction using Electrum servers, reads the OP_RETURN data and decodes it to the server address and some additional info.

there is no "attack on btc blockchain" and has nothing to do with "electrum wallet" and there is no bitcoin being transferred using this malware either.
11848  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Craig S. Wright ALIAS Faketoshi News: 'The Tulip Trust' is proven to be fake on: September 08, 2019, 03:47:26 AM
true, but how come that sv shit is going up) guess a lot using it as a tool, just like eth and bcash

the altcoin market is not something you can find reason in. it just acts wildly and the more shitty and centralized the coins are the more unpredictable they will be. for example why did this shitcoin go up 3200% in the past 24 hours? pump and dumps are the only reason such shitcoins that you named exist in first place so they are being used as a "tool", a tool to make money by fooling newbies with the pumps.
11849  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are you still excited when there is news about the real Satoshi coming up on: September 08, 2019, 03:34:40 AM
actually there is no longer that much news about "new real" Satoshi Nakamoto these days specially after CSW's fraud because official and the court considered him guilty so he should pay a huge amount of money as a result.
11850  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin 'successfully' transferred to an invalid bitcoin address on: September 07, 2019, 05:24:04 AM
invalid address bc1qcygs9dl4pqw6atc4yqudrzd76p3r9cp6xp2kny
it has non-supported characters right

why do you think this address is "invalid" or have "non-supported characters"?

P.S
The wallet prompted me to install an update before sending the transaction and I'm pretty sure it was official electrum-btc website.

you can not be sure unless you have actually verified the digital signature of the installer you downloaded and installed with this PGP public key. and unfortunately it seems like you didn't and were a victim of a phishing attack:
similar case with same address: https://github.com/spesmilo/electrum/issues/5072
11851  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is bitcoin bearish or bullish on: September 07, 2019, 04:59:43 AM
With the current trend we have, I don't see any market play by now and even whales do some price manipulation as what they did before. We are entering the BER months already and as the expected price will going up as it happens in previous years. However, I've never thought and I never put conclusions that it keeps moving high just like we experience last 2017. The bull run may possible to be with us again will have a big difference from what we've experienced before.
This time the bull run may not be the same as what happen in last 2017 bull run but i think there might be a slight changes when will be the final bull run to happen. We will just have to wait for more time to pass since the bitcoin halving is getting near, we could expect already a massive rally during that time.

Bitcoin dominance in the market but like what you said this bull run is not the same in 2017 but the good thing that I see in this current bull run its pump slowly but surely as what people expected this ber month a huge pump up but who knows what will happen to the market just stay tune and carefully whatch bitcoin price action.

you can't expect the market to skip steps!
so yeah, this is not like 2017 bull run because that would mean skipping a half a dozen steps. this bull run is like the 2015 bull run where price is slowly coming out of the lowest price that was reached after the previous bubble in 2013 at $1200. the reversal is nearly identical to today's reversal. that was from $150 to $500 and the launch from there to previous ATH ($1200) and setting the new ATH at $20k and this is reversal from $3100 to $10k and then launch to the new ATH possibly at $100k?
11852  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How can I earn $1 worth of bitcoin everyday? Please help! on: September 07, 2019, 04:38:14 AM
As I said earlier the salary of most jobs in my country is about $130 to $140 per month (engineers, technicians, etc).

$1 = 11,700 Tomans in my country. Our currency is truly worthless.
If you have time, try learning as much as possible. You have the whole internet for you and there are thousands of free materials everywhere which can teach you skills worth money. I don't know your reality, but living with $1 a day sounds awful. I'm pretty much a self-taught programmer and I spend more in food in a day than you would earn in a month of "work" with your $1 day. All of that while working online for people in countries where $1 is the price of a cup of coffee and with skills that anyone can learn with enough googling (for free). Don't just settle with that.

$1 is awful but when you compare it with yourself you should also consider the "cost of living" factor. for example with some search the cost of living in US for single person is $1100 per month and that's without rent. renting a one bedroom apartment in NY would cost $3000 per month. the rents for 1 bedroom apartment in Tehran (capital city of where OP is from) is somewhere around $300-$500.
... the problem however is not that, the problem is the super inflation!
11853  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Google Trends went crazy for the Btc search on: September 07, 2019, 03:45:55 AM
Google trending were also a manipulated marketing strategy. If bitcoin has reached a big spike all of the sudden this might be true that a large number of people are with plans to invest into bitcoin as the market outside cryptocurrency is experiencing a massive outburst. Years back when bitcoin marked its ath it was one among the top searched word on Google. With this we can expect a day same as the past.

"marketing strategy"! what are you talking about?
nobody gives a shit how many people are searching for a term apart from some bored news sites that look for articles to write. investors look at the potentials not at what others search, and so on.
not to mention that like many other things, it moves AFTER the price rise not before it. in other words in 2017 when price was rising the search increased AFTER the rises meaning first price goes up, then the media coverage comes and then people become interested and finally search for it to see what bitcoin is.
11854  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Will Replace Gold! Here's Why... on: September 07, 2019, 03:31:19 AM
you shouldn't even be comparing bitcoin and gold because they have nothing in common and not in the same category for one to replace the other. bitcoin is a currency and gold is many things but not a currency. gold will remain as it is as long as it keeps its use cases which it will. and bitcoin, as a separate and entirely different thing will grow only as long as it is offering what it is suppose to, meaning a decentralized secure payment system that is censorship resistant.
11855  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Finding the person who has received 1 billion dollar is likely possible on: September 07, 2019, 03:20:01 AM
lol. just another large transfer which "news sites caught" so everyone is going crazy about it these days. otherwise there are a lot of other transactions like this happening and lots of addresses with large amounts stored in them but people don't talk about only because the news sites never put them on their radar!
here are some examples;
Code:
34xp4vRoCGJym3xR7yCVPFHoCNxv4Twseo 164,281
35hK24tcLEWcgNA4JxpvbkNkoAcDGqQPsP 151,000

and out of this 10, only 5 of them are obvious exchange wallets!
11856  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Unsure what to do with .wallet file on: September 06, 2019, 07:48:30 AM
the only wallet software that i know of that used "*.wallet" extension name was MultiBit wallet which is now discontinued. since MultiBit was around back in 2013 it also matches the dates of those files (2013-11 and 2014-07). it also used a similar format to store the wallet files (meaning it included dates). so you might want to download MultiBit and check if it can import/read your files. here is the website: https://multibit.org/ you still can find releases at the bottom of the page.

ps. make sure to make a backup of the files before importing them in any software.
11857  Economy / Speculation / Re: Lets talk address 1JCe8z4jJVNXSjohjM4i9Hh813dLCNx2Sy on: September 06, 2019, 07:33:34 AM
Same address moving big money again, this time its one of many inputs totaling a $1 billion dollar transaction moving all to a P2SH addr  Shocked

i honestly don't understand the weird obsession with selective addresses are specially when the obsession is only over the amount since there is no information about who and why!

unlike popular belief the large amounts are being transferred using bitcoin regularly. you can see lots of them on the blockchain almost every week.
this is the list of about ~34000 transactions that have a output total of bigger than 1000BTC (from 1000 to 157457BTC or $10 million+ only in 2019
11858  Economy / Speculation / Re: I bought a bitcoin today for 9K and sold when it hit 10K should I Of left it? on: September 06, 2019, 07:08:58 AM
I’m more of a day trader so any advice would be hugely beneficial.

the first rule of being a day trader is to not ask others what to do! you should be able to speculate on your own and have a high success rate of at least 80%. if you don't then you shouldn't day trade.

my opinion, is that below $10k is getting harder each time we complete a new cycle of sideways movement and bitcoin has been bullish for months which makes it even harder to go down. at this point i only expect a drop if some bad news comes out or some whales decide to manipulate the market. otherwise i don't see drops.
11859  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Thoughts on Bitcoin's Increasing Market Dominance on: September 06, 2019, 06:10:56 AM
interesting narrative but there's no evidence for it besides the coincidental timing of the winklevoss ETF rejection.

Check the charts for March 10th 2017, the day of the rejection.

ETH kicked off not too far off the second the verdict came through. Within less than a week ETH's price had doubled to level it had never been anywhere near before.

They were holding their breath. If it had passed ETH and others would've shat themselves to pieces and BTC would've exploded for a short while at least.

Now ETF news is pure meh. At that moment there was nothing more awaited.

it was so much more complicated than you think!
for starters the bitcoin situation:
it was the first time we reached the ATH (the 2013 one) again and price (much like today) was stable at above $1k. the only thing ETF rejection did was a temporary panic sell that lasted less than a day. price was already struggling to break the previous ATH which was a strong resistance back then which is why bitcoin wasn't going up for 2 month until April.

as for ETH, it had nothing to do with bitcoin, ETF or anything like that. at that particular time (March 2017) the ethereum foundation was spending millions of dollars in advertising the shit out of their shitcoin that is why it got pumped hard during that month. the two biggest thing they did apart from ICO scam booming was creation fake news claiming big name such as Microsoft are adopting Ethereum which in reality they had just created a member-driven organization and the only involvement that comanies like Microsoft have with ethereum is a App Development Kit for Azure so that you could use their cloud computing platform!
the other thing was Vitaliks attempts at advertising his shitcoin so that he could dump his premine coins. the biggest thing he did was to meet with Putin.
the result was that market went crazy and thought ETH is a good investment so it got pumped hard.

in other words ETF rejection news was so small that the only effect it had was that half a day drop in bitcoin price!

Fake Github

if you have sufficient proof that these repositories contain a malicious software then you should instead report them to GitHub through their contact pages (probably report abuse here: https://github.com/contact/report-content) or report the user directly from their profile like the third link: https://github.com/contact/report-abuse?report=gonzo482+%28user%29 and help get it removed from the source. (it has already happened for most of the links as they are removed from GitHub but not all.)
