the US government, in the wake of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, is increasingly taking an interest in blockchain technology. as exemple it funded a blockchain startup Factom

Yes, US Department of Homeland Security has awarded Factom to advance the security of digital identify. One goal of it is to prevent would be hackers to corrupt records for a device making it hard to copy or spoof.

11862  Economy / Economics / Re: Is Paypal a scam? on: January 10, 2017, 03:32:43 PM
I used Paypal before so I don't think is it a scam. Perhaps scammers are using Paypal's name to take advantage of other people. So Paypal should educate its user on how to spot scammers posing as Paypal.
11863  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling should be considered as a Sickness!! on: January 10, 2017, 03:24:43 PM
Gambling is indeed a real sickness if you are asking me because it something that is done by a lot of people these days, they lose everything.

Plus gambling nowadays is accessible to everyone. You just need a internet connection or a phone and then you can play, easy as that.

I believed the US government or other countries for that matter should not in interfere in other countries issues. That's why lot of Muslims blamed USA and in turn become a terrorist.

What about the Islamist terror attacks in countries which had not interfered in the Middle East? Take Boko Haram in Nigeria as an example. How can the Muslims blame Nigeria, for all the terror which is happening there?

Nigeria was a under British Empire in the 1900's. Boko Haram which is usually translated as "Western education is forbidden" was founded because of the Muslims in Nigeria hatred to British rule as they believed that the British has imposed a Western and un-Islamic way of line on Muslims.
11866  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think are the biggest disadvantages of Bitcoin? on: January 09, 2017, 04:03:32 PM
- Bitcoins are not still widely accepted.

- Bitcoins are volatile

- Wallets can be lost

-Lack of bitcoin understanding

11867  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why christmas? on: January 09, 2017, 03:48:38 PM
I agree on you that we see spike on bitcoin price during end of every year but i don't think any of the reasons you have written down are the real reason for this spikes. One reason could be People/Whales manipulating market to grab quick profit with big pump and dump to spend on new year celebration  Grin

I agree with you on this. It is unclear what's driving the bitcoin market's sharp price hike. Even golds did not have a spike during that time. Or maybe people are thinking that bticoin is the new gold now  Grin
11868  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin exceed its all-time-high of almost $1300 in the near future? on: January 09, 2017, 03:35:54 PM
Bitcoin will not exceed its all time high in the near future in my opinion. It can't even exceed it's all time high now but the last price rise was good. Maybe in the far future, after the last bitcoin halving, it will have a value more than 1300$ but after that it will be unpredictable and it might be replaced by a new crypto-currency maybe not. Also I think many people must have stopped mining by that time since it is not profitable after that.

Halving is one potential factor for its value. It may or may not rise after a next halving. It you may recall during the last halving, a lot of people has predicted that the value will declined but it didn't happened.
11869  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is bitcoin is the new era of currency? on: January 09, 2017, 03:16:21 PM
Yeah and the biggest advantage is the non reversible nature of this currency. Because every day I listen from my friends that someone scammed them by sending hacked funds, reversed a transaction and a lot more, with bitcoins all these possibilities get eliminated.

It does come at a cost though

Bitcoin transactions are irreversible but this pretty much means that if you send your coins to a wrong address you can safely kiss them goodbye. And what's more regrettable, you can just as well lose your coins by sending them to a non-existing address. And when someone creates this address (which is highly unlikely but still), he will be greatly surprised to see a bonus awaiting him. Does any desktop wallet have a feature of checking for the address existence or it simply makes no sense because most addresses are used only once?

I thought bitcoin itself had a protocol for checking if the sending address is valid, and if you mistype the address the coins don't send?

A Bitcoin address can't contain certain symbols which could be mistaken for other symbols (e.g. 0 and O), and that should be checked by the wallet you are using, though I didn't try it out personally so I basically don't know what will happen. I guess if a transaction with an invalid address (not to be confused with a non-existing address) somehow hits the network (say you send it manually), it will end up rejected by the miners...

Someone more knowledgeable may want to chime in on this

I think the purpose of some of the characters inside the bitcoin address are being used for the purpose of checking errors (checksum). But I'm not familiar on which exact characters are being used for confirming the address is indeed valid and isn't just a simple address with wrong of missing character.

11870  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin make Banks disappear? on: January 09, 2017, 09:11:07 AM
I don't think bitcoin will make banks disappear. While bitcoin has generated interest of the public the and fact that government has not supported it, bitcoin has little hope of killing the banking system.

11871  Other / Politics & Society / Re: How can terrorism be stopped on: January 09, 2017, 08:38:35 AM
I don't believe it can be stopped at all.
I think the only way to lessen the problem is with education. Otherwise, I can only think that the only way to stop the attacks, sadly, is by joining them.

Perhaps the better question is how terrorism can be prevented to prevent future attacks. I believed the US government or other countries for that matter should not in interfere in other countries issues. That's why lot of Muslims blamed USA and in turn become a terrorist.
Do muslims need to blame someone in order to became terrorists? Or are they just blaming every single non-muslim man on the Earth...

There are many Muslims around the world but only a few are terrorist, but a majority of them believed that the West particularly the US and the Jews is to blame for everything that is wrong with their lives.

Although I don't like the killing of endangered animals, the East Asians need to be appreciated for their diverse diet. This helps them to assemble nutrient rich meals, even at the time of droughts and other natural catastrophes.

Eating dog meat also boost their energy specially during winter time. I read about an article before saying that their is actually a festival in China for eating dog meat(correct me if I'm wrong). Plus eating dog meat in China goes back far beyond history.

If Trump manages to resolve the disputes with Russia, then both the countries can benefit out of it. The biggest threat facing the United States right now is Islamist terror. To eradicate this issue, support from Russia is necessary.

Actually Trump is not against Russia, if you would listen  to his interview regarding Russia, he said nothing bad with Russia or its foreign policy in Ukraine and Syria. He is even opened to meeting Putin personally so there's nothing to resolve as far as Russia is concern.
11875  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is your gambling strategy on: January 08, 2017, 12:52:13 PM
i cant treat like greedy , i control my feeling , and always play with small amount , i always win
You always win? believe me it's just you're getting a good luck. But indeed, if you can control yourself in gambling, you are a good gambler because self-control and discipline is the most important thing for you to succeed in gambling and that you're not addicted. But it is great if your victory continues for a long time, it means that your strategy was running smoothly.
He's just lying. You can't always win especially when you're gamble. Even though he's used highest win chance, he'll losing in the end. Maybe he's just gamble 0.001 btc (because he said he's just played with small amount) and always stop when he doubled his btc (I'm sure he was just lucky enough, there is no any strategy will works for a long time)
yeah any strategy used in gambling would never work if you try to apply it for long term, too much factor that supporting the house edge would always in benefit. and we are as gambler have 50/50 chance in short period but then if you play regularly for long term it could changed to 10% for you and 90% for the casino.

And the longer you stay in the casino to play, the more chances of you losing what you have won. So once you hit, whether big or not, you should go home and enjoy your winnings. You can't beat the house.
11876  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Your biggest bitcoin regrets? on: January 08, 2017, 12:42:30 PM
I would say my biggest bitcoins regrets are not going into Bitcoin when I had the first chance to get it in early 2012 coz I figure it out to be worthless. I guess I should have listened to my friend who invested in it way back. I put my invested somewhere else which brought me nothing.

11878  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why is gambling so addicting? on: January 06, 2017, 01:10:33 AM
The reason of most of the gamblers think that they are lucky enough

This is nonsense, no one thėnks that he is lucky enough to win. Actually it is your curiousity to test your luck or either your greed that wants to win more and apart from that I dont really see how you could be thinking that you are lucky today and might win anything from the house, that is just nonsense things to think about

People want to win again and again and keep coming back, its all about the money and the greediness...
and for every time they go back with a lost and again they urge to win and return their money back, but over all they remain in lost and it make them addicted,

That's why you should not have to think to take back the money you had lost, it will not work, which happens to be the opposite, you will continue to lose money, little by little until they run out. Then you try to do anything to get back to gamble, and happens again, you lose your money again and again. It continues as an endless loop. And the times that one of the features people who are already addicted to gambling.

Gambling is so addicting if you won in a sports betting game with a big amount of bitcoin and for the next time you want the same luck to happen again and you always expected to win. The more you lose in the game of chance is the more you will be addicted to it because in your mind you wanted to cope up with those times you lose investments and you are hoping for another chance but chances of losing is always there rather than winning.
Gambling is indeed addicting because you think that you can win money again and again these days..

this is the great lie coming from the house allowing you to win in some instance but engaging you to become addicted, with that small earnings you will be attracted to keep on coming back trying your luck and when bad streak start to show up your bankroll will be wrecked up as well.
11879  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can gambling be considered a "high risk investment"? on: January 06, 2017, 01:08:22 AM
Gambling is indeed a high risk activity but it is not an investment. It's high risk because you can double you money or even x1000 it in just one second! The risk is really high and the return is too. But this cannot be an investment. Gambling is gambling. There is no way this can be investing as you are just relying in chance and nothing about investment.

Exactly! In investment there is some kind of... Work that can be done.
You can study multiple factors to know if the market is in good shape, if the company is reliable, if the economic situation is good, all that in a global and/or local perspective! You can do market research and market studies, you can do surveys, take the temperature of customers, compare with similar products...

All that added to a financial study of risks and profits, everything being compared to determine if an investment is a good one or not. That's a lot of works but that means you have different leverages to act on.

Whereas in gambling... Your only possible action will be to click on a button. Not much more...

This is true, I think that  its a high risks investment but can be considered as that for sure.
investment without having any particular assurance that you will able to gain something? i guess it can't be called investment as many of us just rely with our luck, investment includes analysis and knowing that they have tie frame to gain the profits so i see nothing can be consider talking about gambling.
11880  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Your new year start in gambling! on: January 06, 2017, 01:05:35 AM
