11881  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 17,800,000 BTC already mined on: August 02, 2019, 01:16:03 PM
We all look back and think that we should have bought more back in the days, but in the next 5-10 years we will say the same about today's prices. We'll be like; 'do you remember the price around $10,000? I feel so stupid for not having bought more'. Adding to your position today will help you look back happily instead of feeling like you have missed out big time.

In the end, not many people will be able to say that they own 1BTC, which you can. Bitcoin surpassed 1 ounce of Gold in terms of dollar value, and the next target is to surpass the 1KG dollar value of Gold (currently $46,450).

Most of people who invest in any cryptocurrency can hardly imagine waiting for something for 5-10 years from now, let's face it, life is so accelerated that people only look how to get instant rich. But even if you give them opportunity for that, what most of them do is to mess up - 2015 price of 1 BTC was even below $200, two years later $20 000 and how many of us get rich after that?

10 years of Bitcoin is not enough to convince people that this is something unique, and that Bitcoin is preeminent over gold, silver, fiat, stocks... So act now or be sorry in future.

For OP, you should wait 18 million Bitcoins to be mined - but there is not too much differences in what's left  - 3,2 or 3 million for next 10 years is compared to 18 millions mined in first 10 years exactly 6 times less coins.

11882  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Setting up ledger with electrum on: August 02, 2019, 10:56:04 AM
That Ledger article is not explains precisely how to add accounts, and what is the difference between Script type and Derivation path, and because of that OP is have problem. He use native segwit selected by default, and he is obviously using Legacy / p2sh-segwit accounts.

If you have Legacy / p2sh-segwit accounts on Ledger, when pairing it with Electrum just follow standard procedure, but give your wallet name, so it will be easy to access them later.

When switching from wallets, first exit Bitcoin app on Ledger -> then open Bitcoin app again -> Select other wallet.

11883  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: when sending payment electrumbay msg comes on: August 02, 2019, 10:38:54 AM
najeeb76, please edit your post with link to fake Electrum site (delete link or put it in the code), so some other user is not click on it and download fake wallet.

I hope that we will see more examples like this, more coins safe in user wallets, less in hackers pockets.

HCP, all I see in Electrum is notification that new version is available, but not in any pop-up window, it is just message in main window. Is this option to automatically check for software updates only gives information about new version, or it is possible to update to new version via Electrum wallet directly?
11884  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Warning! Beware of messages from Twitter, Telegram, Facebook, Discord on: August 02, 2019, 10:15:25 AM
It seems that the purchase of bitcointalk accounts is encouraged and this is suitable for scammers who want to give us confidence.

In a way, you're right, buying / selling accounts on this forum is not officially prohibited, but any member who gets caught up in such activity is marked with negative trust from DT members as a warning to others. But even if forum administration say that is not legal to buy / sell accounts, people will still continue to do that, and some sellers even advertise account selling in a way to say : "You can earn $xxx per week / month with this Hero / Legendary account"  - something like offer in this link :

11885  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Warning! Beware of messages from Twitter, Telegram, Facebook, Discord on: August 01, 2019, 01:26:57 PM
loan.ruiu1, you forgot about personal messages on this forum which is have huge number of users, and some of them only have evil intentions focused on naive victims. Such users often use old accounts (Hero&Legendary), mostly purchased for purpose of joining to signature campaigns - but when they get busted and marked with negative trust, they use accounts to scam others via PM.

Do not trust any offer on social media, they are cheapest way of scam - but also do not trust any offer you get here on PM or your e-mail / phone. Crypto is
an ideal platform for fraud, and in most cases it is very easy money for scammers, therefore we need to be more than careful.
11886  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: When will they fix Ledger Nano S firmware? on: August 01, 2019, 12:53:38 PM
Pipdips, Ledger is only promise to reduce in size ETH app, and they do that - but all of you who are complaining on number of apps installed in same time should know that Ledger Nano S is limited in hardware / storage size, and that new firmware is take some extra space. You also see that some users have up to 10 apps in same time, so it is possible to have more then two, but that number depends of app combinations.

It takes 10-15 sec to remove app and install new, and this is not delete your coins from device - but maybe we should wait new firmware and see will there be some positive changes.

For me is normal that companies improve their products over the years, they all do that. You can not buy phone, tv, pc or any other electronic device and use it whole life, most of devices will break over a period of 5 years.
11887  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy or sell? on: August 01, 2019, 12:33:13 PM
In my opinion, Bitcoin's price will rise. So, for now - I've decided to keep my coins. To be honest, I even bought a few coins on the net, because I found a website with quite attractive fees. But, this is not good time to sell - that's for sure Smiley Be patient

Are you joking or just promoting that site? How fees on that site can be attractive when you need to pay $10700 for one Bitcoin? Maybe you should check some other crypto exchanges and save a lot when buying Bitcoin -- > https://www.cryptofeesaver.com/exchanges/fees/coins/bitcoin
11888  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy or sell? on: August 01, 2019, 11:04:36 AM
furenaire123, Bitcoin is after long crypto winter started showing signs of recovery just some 4 months ago, and my opinion is that this is not good time for selling if you are interested for long-term holding. Short-term price can go down and up, but in next 1-3 years from now we should see new big bull run which can push price above last ATH.

There is just a big selling pressure when price was close to $14 000, and it is normal thing considering that most people take profits if they have the opportunity to do that. Now is not bad time for buying, but you can risk and wait lower price - but Bitcoin is mostly show best results in terms of price in the last quarter.
11889  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Live Problem on Windows on: August 01, 2019, 10:39:59 AM
This is first time I see such problem with Ledger Live, and by what you write it seems that something is preventing new version of Ledger Live to run on your OS. I guess you have this problem on W10, and not on W7?

I agree with BitCryptex that you should check all security software on your PC, try to install fresh copy of Ledger Live, but this time turn off your AV and all programs that can come into conflict with installation. You can also try to pair your Ledger with Electrum, just for the sake of checking that everything is good with device.

For more help post your problem on Ledger GitHub : https://github.com/LedgerHQ/ledger-live-desktop/issues

11891  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Warren Buffett's obsession with physical things, gets in his way to see the gem on: August 01, 2019, 09:58:24 AM
The answer is very easy. Warren Buffett is one of the richest people in the world and he is admired and followed by millions of people around the world. His opinion on Bitcoin is important, because it will help with global adoption and it will also motivate 1000s of retailers to accept Bitcoin as a payment option.

A record breaking 16200 people attended the yearly Berkshire Hathaway's (BRKB) shareholders meeting in 2019. A lot of these people are influential business people like, Bill Gates. <You only qualify to attend this meeting, if you own shares in Berkshire Hathaway>

Warren Buffett has a cult following and people admire him as a cult leader.  Roll Eyes

You should know that Buffett, Gates, Slim, Bezos or any other on that list are actually publicly known rich people, and that they are only one generation creators of wealth. They have billions, but most richest people or better to say families have trillions which have been accumulated over a period of more than a thousand years. Buffett is nothing, he will live maybe few more years and he will die with his beliefs, and I do not see how he can help to global adoption of Bitcoin?

Strength of Bitcoin is not in one man, or in that 16200 that are as you say "influential business people", they are only interested in profit and you can see results of their insatiable greed in today world. If you think Buffett is necessary for success of Bitcoin, then you are turn to wrong road, far away from Satoshi idea.
11892  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-07-31] Beating Bakkt, LedgerX Is First to Launch ‘Physical’ Bitcoin Future on: August 01, 2019, 09:32:27 AM
Around 10% of Americans own Bitcoin. I believe this percentage is much higher than anywhere in the world.

I do not trust too much in such data, particularly because of very strict rules of the game when it comes to cryptocurrency in US - and the fact is that Americans are prone to exaggeration, something like "we are best in the world in everything".

Regarding that impact of $200 - $300 on price, I doubt LedgerX has something to do with it.

oddly, it's available for singapore residents too. i'm not sure they are necessarily restricted to those markets either. either way, if there's high volume and deep liquidity, it will affect spot markets.

Very strange, how they manage to allow this service to Singapure residents - is that mean that this service may also become available in other countries?

11893  Bitcoin / Press / [2019-07-31] Beating Bakkt, LedgerX Is First to Launch ‘Physical’ Bitcoin Future on: July 31, 2019, 01:24:02 PM
Beating Bakkt, LedgerX Is First to Launch ‘Physical’ Bitcoin Futures in US

  • Bitcoin derivatives provider LedgerX announced it has launched the first physically-settled bitcoin futures contracts in the U.S. Wednesday.
  • The contracts, which pay traders out in bitcoin, rather than U.S. dollars, will be available to both institutional and retail investors.
  • Customers can deposit bitcoin, rather than dollars, when buying a contract.
  • LedgerX has beaten the Intercontinental Exchange’s Bakkt and TD Ameritrade-backed ErisX to the punch with its new offering.
  • Any U.S. resident with a government-issued I.D. can now trade futures contracts for real bitcoin.

https://www.coindesk.com/beating-bakkt-ledgerx-is-first-to-launch-physical-bitcoin-futures-in-us

I would say this is very good news for US residents who want to operate only with Bitcoins, and they can do that 24/7/365 which is something that completely knocks the banks out of the game. What I am interesting more, is this option with physically-settled bitcoin futures can have some significant impact on crypto market since it is only available to US residents?
11894  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Warren Buffett's obsession with physical things, gets in his way to see the gem on: July 31, 2019, 01:06:12 PM
It's really hard for me to understand that some people are incredibly fascinated with Buffett, and in same time they are on cryptocurrency forum which should be about Bitcoin and not about why some dinosaurs persistently refuse to use new technologies.

Would we as crypto-community should try to change his mind, convince him to get into Bitcoin? Do you want Buffett invest few billion in Bitcoin, pump price and then dump all, and send us at the crypto beginning?

I do not see any reason that this person is even mentioned in the forum, he is all about making money, he is 100% against cryptocurrency and he call us with not very pleasant names.
11895  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: SEARCHING an Mentor to make my life great again on: July 31, 2019, 10:03:50 AM
FreedomHustler, I see you have some gambling problems and that you lost some good amount of money over the years :

I've been an active member of xxxxxx for a long time and must say that this site is not recommended. They have a very bad customer support and it takes weeks until something is processed with them although I'm here since 2016 and have already lost several 100K there !!!

We do not know is this true or lie, and since you did not provide any evidence you got red trust from one DT member. I think it is very unrealistic to expect that someone can be mentor to you and show you how to "make your life great again", but take my advice and for start stop gambling, try to invest in education and finding a better paying job.

You are still young, and you have time for changes in life - there is no magic word or thing, it is all up to you.
11896  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: I just had all my bitcoins stolen and I don't understand how it happened on: July 31, 2019, 09:44:09 AM
slinkybob, it's a shame you didn't register in the forum before or that you read just like guest, then you would see warnings about this attack which is start at the end of last year. We have dedicated board for Electrum, and there you can see many identical cases posted by victims.

I'm sorry for your loss, hope that hackers will pay one day for their crimes.
11897  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Croatian post office now offer crypto exchange on: July 31, 2019, 09:34:36 AM
As I say before some other countries also have similar service which includes national post offices, and they not provide such service because they love crypto, but because of profit for them and for state. Every time you sell crypto in post office with your ID be sure that you will pay not only fee for that service, but also tax to the state - and I bet this is not simple procedure for domestic and for foreigners who will use this service.

I think providers of such services should warn their users on the obligation to pay taxes on cryptocurrency trading. It would be ideal if the tax is automatically calculated and charged in post office, but then it would not be tempting to sell crypto for some 20%+ in total fee.
11898  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Just Downloaded Electrum 3.3.6 and all my Bitcoin is stuck in my Electrum Wallet on: July 31, 2019, 08:44:24 AM
I picked Electrum due to the idea it was the most user friendly. Now I don't know what to but shove my thumb up my butt.

Problem is not is Electrum, it is very simple&user friendly wallet, but you are doing something wrong. If you have coins in your wallet, private key/s which control that coins, and internet connection - sending that coins to another address is something that requires less than one minute of time.

Click on Send -> copy / paste address from other wallet -> enter amount you want to send -> adjust fee -> Click Send.

I write you how to get private key from Electrum, and you can import that private key in any wallet that support importing of private keys - so if problem is in Electrum, just use any other wallet to get access to that stucked coins.
11899  Economy / Speculation / Re: Ascent of Bitcoin Price on: July 30, 2019, 01:57:39 PM
~snip~

By Coinmarketcap ATH was at $20,089 at December 17 2017, and 2 weeks later price is drop at lowest $12,755. It just show that it was a pump based only on speculation, on which some smart people make big profits. I would not say that 2019 is in any way similar to 2017, and that we should not expect to see anything like 900% or similar increase this year.

Bitcoin is unpredictable, but I would be very surprised to see anything more then $20 000 at the end of this year - except in the case of some big positive thing, but something like that at the moment is not in sight.
