11901  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: WAVES. Ultimate crypto-tokens blockchain platform. on: July 09, 2016, 10:02:07 AM
Bid side 262.733 BTC, Sell side 633814.653 BTC. That does not look even to me. It's also funny why Waves is not listed in Poloniex. What is Poloniex criteria for a coin to get listed? Are they more strict than Bittrex?

Yeah it's funny, poloniex is really serious (maybe more than bittrex) and from a few months it doesn't really add all the scamcoin/altcoin. Maybe Polo. isn't interested to waves, because the project isn't really clear.

What do you mean by "because the project isn't really clear"? Care to explain more?
11902  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NXT] Nxt - Official Thread on: July 09, 2016, 09:32:55 AM
The Nxt Foundation has become an affiliate member of the Linux Foundation.

Nxt has always been an advocate of Open Source software, as the licensing under the GPL v2 also shows.

We want to be in contact with people who are like minded and therefore have formed this partnership.

The Linux Foundation just formally announced our membership.   Smiley

http://www.linuxfoundation.org/news-media/announcements/2016/07/linux-foundation-welcomes-open-source-experts-security-cloud-and

Wow congratulations. What would this partnership entail? Will the NXT devs have access to the skills of the people who are developing the Hyper Ledger and vice versa? That would be nice to see. And very beneficial for both.
11903  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ARDR][NO ICO] Ardor, or Nxt 2.0, a Scalable Child Chain Platform on: July 09, 2016, 09:28:19 AM
What is the reason why NXT decided to create a child chain? Isn't NXT enough already or is there a technical reason why? Could this be a sort of "reboot" for marketing purposes.

In a glance this looks like a move driven by marketing reasons since NXT really went anywhere in that regard.

Running a blockchain is costly and many entities don't have the expertise.
They would like to use a blockchain to solve various problems and not worry about security, blockchain maintenance, volatile coin rates. In Nxt 2.0 they will get specialized blockchains with custom features, for instance they can peg their custom blockchain token to one USD or cowry shell, or their custom blockchain will be feature tailored to their specialized usage. It's a blockchain as a service thing. They will pay block fees to the global network of ARDOR token holders when they must make a hashes record of their custom child chain operations into the main chain. It's a 'focus on your job without all the worries that come with running a blockchain' customer-oriented solution. Transactional throughput will grow manyfold.

So how is Ardor different to the other blockchain platforms like Ethereum, Lisk and Waves? And why do you think a company should choose to use Ardor over the 3 mentioned?

Nxt and Ardor very specifically did not go for scriptable Smart Contracts. There are several reasons for not doing so:

1. You have no way of controlling the quality of the code. This can lead to unfortunate results and create huge problems.
2. A large portion of the market has need for out of the box solutions, not custom ones. Nxt and Ardor offer hardcoded and modular Smart contracts (or smart transactions) which are tested and secure. For most SME's these cover a lot of use cases and are more cost effective.

3. Lisk is still in development: Nxt already works, and has been operational for 2,5 years. Ardor will use the same tech. If a company wants to use software that's tested and tried, it should go to Nxt or Ardor (depending on the use case).
4. Waves is also still in development. Same argument as before. The idea might be sound, there is no way to predict now whether it will pull off its promise.

The child chain architecture is unique to Ardor. Lisk and Waves do not have it, neither does Ethereum. Bloat is a problem that all of them have and Ardor is the system that is concentrating on it.

Thanks for the reply. I shall be following your approach and model of a smart contracts platform. Follow up question, with your model, how do you think would it scale better vs the likes of the 3 platforms mentioned? I believe scalability is a big issue in all decentralized platforms.
11904  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: WAVES. Ultimate crypto-tokens blockchain platform. on: July 09, 2016, 09:19:47 AM
Does this really look like buy support?

You must be blind or have no clue about trading if you really think this is weak hands dumping:

Look at the sizes on the Ask vs the Bid... There is no buy support.  Just you guys in this thread.  There are no new buyers for Waves.  Waves is a scam.  Sasha just pumps it through is partner news site, which is run by the Waves team themselves.  Total pump and dump.  Get out now or cry later.

Oh, and Poloniex will NEVER list Waves.  Any time someone as much as mentions Waves on the Trollbox, there's a very condescending attitude from moderators... trust me it's very much like Poloniex is saying "Don't bring that Waves shit in our house"

They don't react like that toward any other coins as far as I've seen.
I do have to say it seems to be a little manipulated. I've seen bids trying to out bid each other raising the price. Just two bids.

100% right. This one had it pump and now is going to no mans land down.

Poloniex not going to touch this coin, never

LEAVE and don't come back LOSER!!

Coinbiz - you are a rare breed of supreme confidence and trash advice. The thing is, just like your bogus story about pulled sell walls that Brewins debunked, and your botched 'investigation' into v0.3.0 -> v0.4.0, its possible to fact check what you claim.

For anyone scared by Coinbix chart - just check out the actual source

https://bittrex.com/Market/Index?MarketName=BTC-WAVES

Looks pretty even to me.

11905  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ethereum: Welcome to the Beginning on: July 09, 2016, 09:06:50 AM
I think Ethereum will have a hard time in dealng with its tarnished reputation. Something spectacular must be created and built using the platform. But the DAO was supposed to be that "something spectacular". If they attempt to start again, will the people believe and invest in it?
11906  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LSK] Lisk | Blockchain Application Platform for JavaScript Developers on: July 09, 2016, 08:50:21 AM
I am waiting for LSK booming with 10X-100X in the future, so my RISE will be benefited from LSK pump.   Cheesy Wink

RISE is much cheaper than LSK, and it will implement more language, now supports C# SDK, just stay tuned. Maybe your LSK younger brother RISE will go to da moon earlier than LSK older brother.   Grin Cheesy

Pardon me for my ignorance, but why do you call Rise as Lisk's younger brother? Is Rise built inside the Lisk platform?
11907  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Sia - Decentralized Storage - Working Beta - Currency has been released on: July 09, 2016, 08:43:54 AM
I just read that SIA is going after enterprises to use its platform. My question is have the SIA people started talking to them? If yes, which enterprises are looking forward to use and experiment with the platform? If not, what kind of enterprises are your ideal users?
11908  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Sia - Decentralized Storage - Working Beta - Currency has been released on: July 09, 2016, 07:15:16 AM
I have read about Storj and came across SIA. How is SIA different than Storj and what does SIA have that makes it better in your opinion?

In all honesty, I became more interested when I saw the price shoot up really quick and thought there might be something in the platform that I missed.

they got a big discussion there, enjoy.

Thanks for providing the link. I will start reading it now so that we could discuss further.
11909  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LSK] Lisk | Blockchain Application Platform for JavaScript Developers on: July 09, 2016, 03:18:01 AM
How could Lisk take advantage of the Ethereum conundrum now that they have decided to go with the hard fork? I think Lisk's priority now is to get the researchers and developers to experiment and build apps in the platform. What is the Lisk team doing to attract them to create the necessary infrastructure?
11910  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LSK] Lisk | Blockchain Application Platform for JavaScript Developers on: July 08, 2016, 02:25:15 PM
I wonder what the Lisk community thinks of Ethereum's plan on doing a hard fork to save the DAO funds. Should they do it or not? And if Lisk was in the same situation, what would be the best direction to take?
11911  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Successful Bitcoin Business List. on: July 08, 2016, 12:55:55 PM
ASIC manufacturers.
they have a product. and sell it for bitcoin.

by this i mean antminer. not the fake cloud miners

just like the old wild west.
gold miners only broke even and eventually their bones and muscles. the only profit was in the guys selling the dynamite or selling the workers food and drink

So that means the big Chinese miners are hardly making any profit at all? I thought the west was stupid for staying away from it, but now I see why.
11912  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DAO Fail!! Sell or hodl? on: July 08, 2016, 12:46:41 PM
The Ethereum price is surprising high at the moment. I think there is a chance that these 3.6 million eth will not be dumped to the market.

Yes, it is surprisingly high. Denial? Or is the ETH community an odd bunch (relative to us) who see a hardfork as a strength?

I don't think people have a major problem with it considering it's early stages and experimental technology. People want their money back simple as that.

Also think about incentive for Ethereum and Dao holders.

Yes but who will take them seriously if Ethereum is mired with a roll back in its transactions? I have heard that banks and big companies hire crypto devs as consultants. What would their opinion of Ethereum be if it went thru a hard fork? I'm guessing it's not good.

If the law enforcer can catch the thief who stole the 3.6 million Ethereum, there is no need to hard fork.

That's "if". But we know that's not happening. And in the first place the DAO should have been hack proof the very moment it was set up. It is holding a lot of money and security should be of the utmost importance. They failed in that regard and that's very sad to see.

11914  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin Newbie Here on: July 08, 2016, 12:32:17 PM
Hi all,

I just wanted to start off by introducing myself and saying hello.  I am relatively new to the Bitcoin scene and the whole concept of it is fascinating to me.  The idea that it is not a fiat currency that is controlled and abused by the central banks via the fractional reserve ratio, etc. is very refreshing.

Like most people, I'm not a fan of the current 9-5 rat race and am always on the look out for a way to make six figures or more online.  I understand that there are tons of scams out there in the form of Ponzis, MLM, HYIPS (Ponzis again lol), Binary Options trading software, fake forex trading software, and other programs that intend to use and abuse poor people just looking to get ahead in life. In fact, it's because that there are so many scams out there that I'd like to learn how to make big money to replace a white collar job.  If I can accomplish that, I can in turn help others to make money online.  That is one of my dreams in life:  to enrich others, not to drain all of their financial resources.

If anyone has any suggestions as to how I can make 6 figures or more (U.S. dollars or Bitcoin) with little to no start up capital, I would highly appreciate it.  Otherwise, you are welcome to introduce yourself and just chat as I am always on the look out for friends too.  Good luck on your quest for your own personal Holy Grail   Smiley

I'm sorry but that is impossible. In today's world, what can you get when you "start with little to no start up capital"? You have to be extremely lucky to achieve something like 6 figures. But maybe you can by working hard. And still your chance is still very tiny.
11915  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: First Litecoin iOS Wallet is on the App Store (LoafWallet) on: July 08, 2016, 12:19:22 PM
This looks good but who will use the wallet? There are not much merchants that accept litecoin. And the ones that do also accept bitcoins, and people prefer to use the latter because it presumably is more valuable going to the future. While ltc is in the cross roads.

Functioning wallets for mobile should be considered basic infrastructure, litecoin should of had this years ago so I've no idea what planet you're from if you think this isn't a step in the right direction.

Having just one CryptoCurrency is such a lousy idea .... I dislike Bitcoin core so I've moved most of my Bitcoin into litecoin good or bad that's a choice I can make. I would say choice is good as its the only voice users have there's no voting with mining power for most average users only the power to vote with ones feet.

I am not saying that this is not a step in the right direction, it is. My question is based on reality and what I see. There is almost no merchants that accept litecoin, and the ones that do also accept bitcoin. And since that is the case, people would tend to use paying with bitcoins.

I agree that having more than one cryptocurrency is better. But the reality is almost everyone uses BTC when buying goods and they also prefer to store BTC as savings in their wallet.
11916  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: WAVES. Ultimate crypto-tokens blockchain platform. on: July 08, 2016, 12:06:55 PM
How is Waves different compared to Nxt? And what does it do better?

I'm sorry, but at first glance, I couldn't see how it is really that different from Nxt or maybe the upcoming Ardor? Please discuss.

Hi peeps. I have yet to get a reply from the more knowledgeable people of Waves. As the quote says above, I would please like to know what Waves can do better and how can it actually do better than Nxt in terms of adoption and in different business use cases. Anyone?

Waves vs. NXT 2.0

*The use case itself is different. Waves is rather for crowdfunding and cheap fiat transfers whereas Nxt's childchain aims at companies which have a use for blockchain technology itself, e.g. saving data on it.
* Waves is a crowdfunding platform directly connected to the fiat world. Nxt won't offer that.
*Also, asset-to-asset trading looks to be simpler with Waves which is nice
*There will be unique scalability solution implemented and many more nice things
*Don't forget about voting system, reputation system and more 'smaller' features

Waves Roadmap: https://i.imgur.com/rzfIOi2.jpg

So meaning you could organize your own ICO in the platform and be able to make your token available for trading in its own exchange? Is that the whole idea of Waves?
11917  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ethereum: Welcome to the Beginning on: July 08, 2016, 11:58:23 AM
What's the latest news on the hard fork? Everything has been quite lately with no news. Maybe finally Vitalik has found a solution without going thru a hard fork? And what is the news on the attacker? Have they caught him yet?
11918  Economy / Gambling discussion / What's the easiest sport to win bets at? on: July 08, 2016, 11:54:55 AM
I have tried betting on basketball, the NFL, soccer and baseball with mixed results. I am curious which sport has made you a consistent winner in sports bets. And why do you think you're a winner in that sport? Are some sports easier to handicap than others?
11919  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What coins are best for noobs? on: July 08, 2016, 11:46:34 AM
I am new to bitcoin and my friend who uses bitcoins told me that it is better for new people to mine other coins what coins are best for new people and what coins are easiest to mine

Just stick to bitcoin for now. You cannot learn anything just by asking questions in a forum like bitcointalk. The first thing you should learn is that most of the people here are shills or fudders. And most of the coins are only good for trading once or twice and then move on to the other new coin. If longterm investing is what you're looking for, you cannot find one here.
11920  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XLM] Stellar - Decentralized trading platform on: July 08, 2016, 10:52:14 AM
Wouldn't giving away XLM make the price go further down? Unless they believe that the people will keep holding XLM, I think what they're trying to do will discourage the current investors from holding making it go down even more.

Knowing this will happen, does the Stellar Foundation care about the price of XLM?  Or is that not their priority right now? If it's not, what is their current priority?
