11941  Economy / Speculation / Re: Top 20 days for Bitcoin on: December 23, 2020, 03:09:07 PM
LOL

A couple of days ago it was CAD that spoiled another jackpot.

Today CAD leads the pack.

Go figure.
____

Slowly pushing 2017 down. Top 6 JPY all 2020.

We have enough time 9 days left in the year.

We can clear all four digit numbers.
We can go all top ten  as 2020.

This sideways slot action is wonderful for me as a miner.

So, why would anyone need or want a Ledger if almost anything it does can be done on any computer? Perceived security because it's a "hardware wallet" that's small and convenient? Small 10 inch or 13 inch laptops can do the same thing and more. (it's the "more" part that opens up a larger attack surface.)
Any old phone can do the same thing, take it offline (no sim, no wifi) and its a hardware wallet. Connect to PC with USB or turn on wifi to have hot wallet.

Harder to back up.

I find these pc's to be really good

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Dell-OptiPlex-790-USFF-PC-Computer-i5-2500s-2-7GHz-4GB-No-HDD-No-OS/133609240209?

add 2 sticks of Samsung ram and a 2tb ssd.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/16GB-2x8GB-PC3L-12800s-DDR3-1600MHz-2Rx8-Non-ECC-Samsung-M471B1G73QH0-YK0/274616178500?
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Samsung-860-EVO-1TB-SSD-Internal-2-5-inch-MZ-76E1T0B-AM-Solid-State-Drive/184577795518?

clone 2 backup hdds.
and have an extra pc

keep off line locate
the backup clones off site.

cost

2x69 = 138 for 2 pc's
3x98 = 296 for 3 ssd's
1x50 =  50 for 16gb ram

484 full price for secure setup.

if you have 24000 stored.    484 is pretty much a 1 time cost.

have a trezor for <1000
have an exchange for <2000

or 2 exchanges each under <1000

when you download the blockchain you are capped by your download speeds on your internet.

the units above will download the chain at about 90gb an hour so 4-5 hours one time download.

Anyone here using EVGA XC3 Black? (that model without backplate)
https://br.evga.com/products/product.aspx?pn=08G-P5-3751-KR

I found one at good price, and I'm thinking to buy, just want to know if this card is good and can reach 100Mhs?
I don't want to buy and be on sub 90mhs

I have this one. 3 of them

Anyone have an EVGA 3060 Ti XC Gaming card? I have an opportunity to purchase a few of these at close to MSRP. I’m curious what kind of experience people have had mining ETH (or other coins) with this card.

Buy them. If you do not want them I will take at least one of them maybe 2 of them.

I would pay a small  markup and shipping .

All assuming you are usa based.

11948  Economy / Speculation / Re: 2021 Bitcoin Cycle(Bullrun) vs 2017 Bitcoin Cycle(Bullrun) on: December 23, 2020, 02:32:19 AM
Long term price is so predictable that is sort of comical. Sometimes it looks to me like it is programmed in advance and it just rolls out when is right time. Right now price is a tiny bit to high. I guess eventual ATH will be earlier than end of the year.  But we might still get a correction below 20k to set timings more correct again.

We are very close to correct price. 19.5 to 20.5 would match the numbers of 2019 that were around 10k.

I come up with 26k-30k as tipping point.

bur the longer we go siderways in the 21-24k track that range of 26k-30k loses its importance.

I have tv on listening to my favorite lesbian Rachael Maddow as I am typing this I just heard a graystone commerical saying “fuck gold” go digital get some graystone.

They sank big money into btc.
Norway gave every citizen some btc.

Just keep adding this stuff and maybe stupid numbers happen. Soon.

But I see the first case happening fast jump to 26k-30k and tank. rather by wrong.

This does not belong here.

It belongs in the scam section.

I will take your story at face value and leave it that.

ps I asked the mods to move it to the scam section.

also, what I'm seeing here is that the mobo itself only draws about 20 watts, is that correct?  I was wondering how much the motherboards would add to the equation, seems to be that it's very small in comparison.

the cpu if it is a t variant is lowest power of the cpus.

intel g3900t

https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/90738/intel-celeron-processor-g3900t-2m-cache-2-60-ghz.html
tdp is 35watts

intel g3900
https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/processors/celeron/g3900.html
has a tdp of 51 watts

intel g4400t tdp of 35 watts
https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/90614/intel-pentium-processor-g4400t-3m-cache-2-90-ghz.html

intel 4900t tdp of 35 watts
https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/129952/intel-celeron-g4900t-processor-2m-cache-2-90-ghz.html

so using a t version saves watts ,drawback is if you want to run a huge rig say 8 3060ti's

you may need a better cpu.

Also bronze, silver, gold platinum, titanium psu.,

at a 500 watt build drawing a constant 500 watts.

bronze 625 at the kwatt

titanium 525 at the kwatt

also mobo efficiency

also the card itself and I am back to topic I have a 3 fan aorus 3060ti smos says I do

60.84 mh at 119 watts the 3060ti aorus
94.29 mh at 219 watts the 3080 evga

that adds to 318 watts for gpu

it  estimates my total consumption is 378 watts

I have an FSP 1200 watt platinum
I have a intel g4400t

I use a stick of samung ram with this board

https://www.amazon.com/ONDA-B250BTC-D8P-Mining-Motherboard-LGA1151/dp/B0791Z44YX

now I run on the kwatt meter at 397-401 watts. i also know this meter has always been 5% hot. I have other kwatt meters that real less.

for fun I will run this 2 card rig with just the 3080 and see how much we drop.

So on the reboot.
I read 219 for the gpu via smos
I read 259 for the rig   via smos
I read 269 for the rig via kwatt

so I dropped 378 to 259 = 119 watts via smos reading
I dropped 398 to 269 = 129 watts via kwatt reading

since the meter on the house counts I would use 129 watts for 60.84 for my card. hoping that the hot meter is maybe 5 or 6 watts higher then my house meter.

so the house meter is charging me maybe 123 to 130 watts for the card. it is hard to know how accurate the house meter really is compared to the kwatt meter.  For me to do it correctly I need to have my wife out of the house for at least 4 days and only run 1 circuit in the whole house to test properly.  Which is not going to happen.
11953  Economy / Speculation / Re: How Degenerate is it buying and sitting on PayPal Bitcoin ? on: December 22, 2020, 03:17:16 PM
My point exactly you don't want BTC to go mainstream.

I supposed you are pissed off every Norway Citizen now has some BTC in their retirement account.

https://news.coingenius.ai/norway-grants-its-citizens-2-worth-of-bitcoins-through-the-countrys-oldest-pension-fund/

or will that be okay for you.

Is it too common or is it innovative?

You tell me.

We didn't get 4mb blocks because the idea of going back to Satoshi original size annoyed people, this on an international scale would be weird.

And $2 for every citizen who have an average gdp per capita of at least $40000, I'd call it innovation. What do they care if their $2 sinks or if it doesn't. Although pension schemes look like a way to trap peoples money for investment for 35 years so...

Would be nice to see more countries do this move.  Very likely better than PayPal, but I live in the USA so I put around 250 and 170 into PayPal accounts. As it is a mainstream move.

Would I ever consider putting in 1 btc to each account no. Even if I got lucky and solo mined 2 blocks or so. Paypal won't see much of my money/coin.

Phil, you must be loving your DogeCoin hodl right about now!  I noticed it's up to nearly half a cent now and one of top gainers last 24 hours!  I have a bit but not nearly as much as you so congrats!

maybe I will sell it today.

I sold 340000 I now have 660000

Anyone else noticing a reducing in hash rate on 6GB - 8GB cards?  My poolside hash rate has dropped from 5.4 GH/s to 5.15 GH/s over the last two dag increases?  I'm on ethermine might switch pools.

my new 3080    3 of them all solid 95mh each
my new 3060ti. 1 of them solid at 60.8 mh

the amd 5600xt 6g all dropped a bit.  say 41 to 40.5

the  amd 5500xt 8g all dropped a bit  say 28 to 27.5

yes I did

Yep sidewinder is starting its strike.

I think we see some nice long green candles the next few days.

Even as an atheist I would enjoy a nice christmas candle

I will pray for that. Grin

Now honey badger and sidewinder have a long history.
He took out a few of sidewinders distant cousins a few years ago.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qJF84oz93jw
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4r7wHMg5Yjg

You need to put him back in the cage and let sidewinder do his thing.

We release honey badger Nov 2021 when we are trying to push past 100k.

Anyone else feel that this $22.5k - $23.5k somewhat sideways movement is similar to the time spent bouncing around 19k a few weeks back?  Up a bit, down a bit but always returning to some form of equilibrium at a similar level.

The longer the sidewinder is in action the higher the top will be.

Please note: this was take directly from bing search "sidewinder"
11960  Economy / Speculation / Re: Anybody have Coinbase screw up with IRS? They think I owe $1.15 million!! on: December 22, 2020, 01:28:42 PM
Why are you guys using coinbase? That wallet is not safe because you aren't in control of your funds, why are people so obsessed with coinbase wallet? You are given nothing but your mail and password, no access to recovery seed or private keys, this is 💯 bad for any crypto users, it seems some don't understand centralized vs decentralized

its likely because they were buying btc and other crypto on coinbase. from the begining coinbase is good start to buy btc, its only the time when KYC  started that some of us move away from it.

IRS is the baddest among the government agency, they could take all you have, ruined your life if you dont property deal things.

Yep I was in collection for 1.5 years.
I left them because I felt 1 of 3 or 1 of 4 people I was asked to collect from were being unfairly punished.
I did not want to be the one doing it to them.

Back to op

My 2018 Coinbase info was nuts it was so fucked up I spent days trying to understand what they did.
The main problem was coinbase pro and coinbase would double count the money/coins when I would transfer back and forth. Also coinbase and bittrex would double count the coins when I transferred back and forth.

In 2019 I stopped Coinbase pro In 2019 I did almost zero with bittrex. This allowed for far less entries.
