You will generally not get banned for one or two posts (unless you are spreading malware) but rather for your overall (short term) posting history. From what I can tell, you are somewhat less technologically advanced then most others here, and have seen you ask a lot of questions that I would think that most people who have been around as long as you have would know the answers to - some people will sometimes open a thread just so they can reply to a lot of responses and asking newbie like questions is a way that will greatly increase your post count however there is no real point to such questions if you already know the answers too them.
11982  Economy / Invites & Accounts / Re: Selling bitcointalk.org accounts Update March 310 on: March 13, 2015, 11:49:59 AM
I have sent a PM to you regarding purchase of accounts.

Thanks!
I replied to your PM
11983  Other / Meta / Re: Account Banned. WTF.. WHY OH WHY? do i deserve it? have i misbehaved? on: March 13, 2015, 04:32:42 AM
So.. Who banned me?
Probably BadBear, however I would have done the same if I had such authority.

If what you say is true then you can lurk for 14 days, and read posts, but just don't contribute/post, and once your 14 days is up you can resume doing your own thing as long as you don't break the rules.

I would say that it is true that the expected post quality is higher for people that do not engage in paid signature advertising as there is not the obvious financial incentive to post when they do not have a paid signature.

edit:
you sir btw.  are the opposite.. you post non stop, non stop, non stop, only joined a few months ago and are rewarded for it.  i commend your contribution to problem mediation and you seem to know a shitload about the users but hey.. we all got issues :-)
To by honest, this is none of your business
11984  Other / Meta / Re: Account Banned. WTF.. WHY OH WHY? do i deserve it? have i misbehaved? on: March 13, 2015, 03:01:23 AM
Looking at the last two pages of your post history I see that you posted mostly one liners, and other very short posts.

You explained yourself as to why you were banned. "Insubstantial posts+sig ad (14 days)" - you were making pointless (insubstantial) posts while getting paid for making each post.

Ironically the signature campaign that you joined on your last post before you were banned would likely have not paid you because of your spammy posts.

Out of curiously did you delete your signature yourself or was that already done for you?
11985  Other / Meta / Re: Remove action=who ? on: March 13, 2015, 01:57:46 AM
If you disable the setting to allow others to see that you are online (under profile ---> Account related settings) then your 'actions' will not be publicly displayed.

I do agree that it is somewhat concerning that this is enabled by default.....maybe that should be changed

I thought that would fix it, however I'm thinking that any party could profile a user to see what that user is reading. Not sure if everyone is aware of it.
Like I said, it is concerning that this feature is enabled by default so by default anyone can see what you are reading unless you actively make a change to your profile.

IMO, the default should be that others cannot see that you are online
11986  Other / Meta / Re: Why was I banned? on: March 13, 2015, 01:56:46 AM
I am fairly confident that it was because you were wearing a paid signature and were making insubstantial posts. Looking at the last 3 pages of your post history I see that you have made pretty much nothing more then one liners and slightly longer, but still insubstantial posts.

You can try to appeal your ban to get it to expire early, however you will need to give a good reason why this should happen. I personally have not seen anyone ever post/give a good reason why their ban should expire early.

11988  Economy / Auctions / Re: Sr Member Account for auction! on: March 13, 2015, 01:36:02 AM
At 23:53:07 WhalingWhales bids .16 BTC. At 0:52:47 Monetizer asks if he can bid .18 BTC, I would assume this would be a bid of .18 BTC.

At 0:53:15 the OP offers a buy it now offer for .2 BTC, and at 0:54:29 Monetizer accepts the buy it now offer. I would say that Monetizer should be the winner as he was the first to accept the buy it now offer

Did you miss my 0.18 at 12:51.57?
I did not, however you quoted the message shortly thereafter with a changed amount of .16 btc and I would personally interpret that as you saying that you bid the higher amount by mistake. If I were the OP I would have clarified much earlier then when the bid would have expired

It's clear his bid for 0.18 was a mistake and is not valid.
If Monetizer hadn't bid it's impossible WhalingWhales would have paid 0.18 instead of 0.16.

At 23:57 the OP confirmed the high bid being at .16 BTC and there being an hour left in the auction however no correction or clarification was ever made

11991  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcoin Talk account hacked any way to recover? on: March 13, 2015, 12:20:29 AM
Look I'll say it again,  theymos and shorena have the proof.

Is it necessary to post everything public in here, when the key players already have what they need? I don't expect them to drop everything thing they have on their plate to rush or put me ahead of others issues. ill patiently wait my turn, because in the end, I own(ed) that account, and hopefully it will be restored to its rightful owner as it should. Me.  Wink
If you want the community to believe you then you need to let the community judge the proof for themselves. You are being secretive about your 'proof' which in itself is very suspicious. Scammers have tried to hide portions of proof when they themselves were scammed in order to hide their identity

11994  Other / Meta / Re: What did theymos do with 200K? on: March 12, 2015, 10:01:04 PM
What about something like automatic btc price updating. Theres a tag like [btcprice]20USD[/btcprice] and you can have the btc amount updated automatically so that the value in fiat stays the same. Also automatic btc link formatting, address formatting, sign message verifier, lots of cool btc features could be used here.

People use different exchanges to price Bitcoin so although it would give a ballpark estimate, it wouldn't be the same for everyone. How much this would effect the usage of it I wouldn't be able to say.
The forum could use one major exchange to display the price, or an index of various major exchanges. I would say that I do like this idea.
Having phone notifications and 2 factor authentication would be nice. With phone notifications you could link a smartphone to your account and receive notifications on the posts or topics you choose. For instance you could create a thread and you would have an option that you could tick that would notify you by phone of a post. You could do the same with personal messages or anything you wanted to be notified on. I'm unsure how efficient this would be if there isn't a mobile version of the site.
The 2FA really should be via with either a PGP signed message, a bitcoin signed message or with google authenticator. There are simply too many places in the world that the forum would need to send text's to for it to make sense to have 2FA with text messages.

We already have the ability to get notifications on your smartphone. All you need to do is have your email address on your forum profile set to an email that your smartphone has access to. Then anytime you get a notification it will be on your smart phone. You could even use a dedicated email for this function.
11995  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: New scam for steam gift cards on: March 12, 2015, 09:54:40 PM
I'm waiting for the followup reply stating that it was just a misunderstanding and you got your code(s) and that the site is totally legit...

Sneaky marketing technique Tongue

This would be quite a desperate marketing technique if it were one.

All it does is display they have poor customer service and that their customers aren't happy. I personally wouldn't purchase anything from them unless it was a last resort. They should of made a thread claiming they wanted to purchase a steam code and then have the other account come in and offer help and direct them to the site, lol.
I think it would actually be a smart marketing technique. There are a lot of people on here that are naive enough to believe the story that TC was expecting the OP to make. Most companies have unhappy customers, that is just a part of doing business. I would say that pretty much every company is going to have at least one unhappy customer and if they don't then they are likely either not doing any business or are being scammed by a lot of people.

I have seen an increase of shill accounts vouching and recommending (or sometimes as little as suggesting) certain scam websites. I posted this just today in the how to spot a scammer thread in lending.

If they were to respond in the correct way I'm sure it might have a positive effect. Depending on the popularity and the discussion of my site I wouldn't want the only reviews coming up when my company is searched to be scam accusations though. I would rather have a lot of reviews of positive experiences around the forum rather than people being displeased with my services. Anything can be a good marketing technique though if it's put into the right context. As the saying goes "Any publicity is good publicity" (If you are smart about it)

I've been noticing shill accounts being created for quite some time but I haven't been able to find evidence of it. It has mostly been in the market section where people create new accounts to promote their business by giving themselves fake vouches and positive feedback and continuing to bump their thread up with vouches. I've never really put much thought into the new accounts being created to promote scam sites as it's hard to believe people would keep falling for that, but given the recent Ponzi Schemes and how people are continuing to fall for the "double your Bitcoin" type of methods I'm beginning to change my mind. Back when I sold and traded MMORPG currencies it was common knowledge never to trade your money to someone that's claiming they can double it. In some ways the younger generations are a lot smarter and wiser in dealing with online scam attempts than the older generations. It would be interesting to see the general age consensus of Bitcointalk.
Well my theory is that the companies are hoping that people are going to only search the scam accusations section to see if a site is legit or not, they will see a accusation against them that was quickly resolved, and then potential customers will assume that the site is in fact legit.

What TC is implying is that the site in question is 100% a scam and will simply take money from anyone that gives it to them.

The shill accounts that I have primarily seen are ones saying that they just used some exchange (or they will instead use an exchange instead of dealing on the forum) that already has a scam accusation against them and is pretty clear that they are scams. This is not a customer service issue, this is making various sites appear to be legit when they are in fact scams issue

11997  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: New Diff thread Mar 8 to Mar 22. on: March 12, 2015, 07:31:19 PM
according to news reports a number of mining pools have been under DDOS attack in recent days. I received an email from bitmain yesterday saying that they received a ransome notice and if they did not pay their services would be out under DDOS attack.

According to news reports BW.com stated in their blog that they have been subject to similar ransom demands.

This may be partially why difficulty has been so slow to increase in recent times.
11998  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: [H] $300-$700 PP [W] BTC on: March 12, 2015, 06:51:09 PM
lmfao... we can do escrow PP if anyone wants.. i'm just trying to get BTC to gamble with lol
You are not understanding what I am saying. In order for this to be safe for the seller you would have to not have access to the bitcoin for six months.

You would be much better off withdrawing your PayPal to your bank account and then buying with cash.
11999  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: [H] $300-$700 PP [W] BTC on: March 12, 2015, 06:40:10 PM
Well, then their loss. But seriously, if i go first and send as family/friends everything is good.
even if you send as family and friends PayPal can still be reversed and is not safe for the person receiving the PayPal.

The only way this could possibly be safe is if the Bitcoin you are to receive would be held in escrow for 6 months.
12000  Economy / Auctions / Re: [AUCTION] KaChingCoin.us Domain For Sale on: March 12, 2015, 06:21:37 PM
If you do end up selling the domain just make sure that you change the email in your bitcointalk profile before you push the ownership of your domain.
