121  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] dstm's ZCash Nvidia Miner v0.5 (Linux) on: October 04, 2017, 07:37:55 PM
The GPUs are OC'd to where Claymore and EWBF will run for days.  I restarted the zm miner and it's still mining after 4 hours so I'll let it run and see what it does.

Also displaying time on each line would be helpful so I can see what time it failed--or maybe just on the total line ===.  I should be logging as that probably has the time...

Fired up zm on Ubuminer doing Zen on Suprnova when after about 20 minutes I had the miner fail with:

gpu_id 1 1 0x1072dcb0200 the launch timed out and was terminated
cudaMemcpy 1 failed

I'm testing zm on Suprnova right now.  Suprnova will sometimes show my Efficiency is less than 100%, but I don't see the miner showing rejected shares like Claymore or EWBF.

Right now zm appears to be just as fast, if not faster than EWBF's miner.

so I ran the First Boot Script and changed the hostname to TEST.  Still get SUDO errors so I did a quick Google search and the issue is TEST needs to be in the /etc/hosts file which it isn't.

I only had these entries:
127.0.0.1 localhost
127.0.1.1 Ubu

So I added:  127.0.1.1 TEST and all the SUDO errors are gone.  Even fired up the miner and it applied all the undervolt/OC/fan settings with no SUDO errors.  My guess is the First Boot script either isn't pushing the hostname into the /etc/hosts file or it doesn't have permissions to do so?

From the video you can see I figured out how to change coins and choose the miner by editing Coinoptions, but I saw the mine.sh script and wondered if you set up a more programmatic way?  I just edit the Coinoptions then type in mine and it fires right up.

Nice having an Ubuntu mining OS with coin files, easy enough I can use it for any mining!  Thanks again hatch789.

v0.73 is up now guys and it has fan control built in on a per card per coin basis. I am going to add more functionality around the fan control in the next version but for now I wanted to get this out for people like GaryH to at least have something they can use.

Gary for the record I don't know that I have any of my running COOLER than 65 C ...most are in the 70 - 80 range. 65 is crazy cool. You must live in a crypt! LOL

I run Nvidia's and from what I've read once they reach a certain temp they will throttle themselves back so I keep them fairly cool.  The hottest card the MSI 1070 runs @ 53C whereas the Asus 1070 Strix's are @ 46C.  Right now my rig is running in the basement, but once the winter temps hit it will be upstairs warming the living room/kitchen.

Since I don't believe I can upload pictures yet, I made a video using a Gopro but didn't realize the lighting was as bad as it was.  It shows the 640x480 resolution and also the same sudo error.  Should of edited more of the dead space out but wanted to get the video posted tonight.

manual fan speeds would be great.  I imagine I have a weird character or two in my rigname since when I was setting it, I typed one character then it went to the next line (640x480mode) and I probably messed up.  Once you have v0.73 up I'll try again with the fan speeds.

So without a manual fan speed setting and no temp watchdogs, are you saying that Ubuntu can't control the GPU fan speeds automatically?

Fired up zm and each GPU connected to suprnova with no issues.

Started mining but didn't hear the GPU fans making their normal speedup sounds.  Kept waiting and I hit 63C on my MSI 1070 before I pulled the plug--card has never went above 53C.  I looked at my photo where sudo can't set the hostname and I don't see any fan control commands.  In nvOC you can either set manual fan speeds or auto, but I don't see anything as far as fan control in Ubuminer.
128  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [OS] UbuMiner -Free Nvidia Linux Mining Build v0.72 : Simple / Clean / 14GB on: October 01, 2017, 10:34:35 PM
Put v.72 on the HDD and booted up with no issues.  Ran the first script that installed Nvidia drivers with no issues, also the second script ran fine.  Didn't configure crontab since it I wanted to check out the zm miner.

I set a hostname of "Rig"  (without the quotes) and each time I used the mine command I saw this error:
sudo: unable to resolve host Rig

attached to the screen of the miner and since I was using zen.suprnova.cc I see that GPU0 connected to suprnova, and GPU0 server set difficulty, but I got an error:  protocol version 0000020 not supported.

Went over to dstm's link and found he has a newer .5 version so I downloaded it and put it in the .3.2 directory on Ubuminer.  Then I tried mining again and it looks like every GPU  (0-4) connected to Suprnova and of course I received an error:  authorization failed.

So .72 works great, I just need to figure out this zm version.

Edit:  looked at dstm's thread, looks like zm connects each GPU to the pool..  interesting...
Edit2:  figured out the authorization failed--suprnova is a bit different--required edit in ZEN.coin file

129  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Different GPU's in 1 rig --> problems? on: October 01, 2017, 05:26:11 PM

Hey,

I currently have 2xGTX1070's (Gigabyte) and 2x1080TI's(Gigabyte) in my rig. According to multiple sources, all the 10 series gpu's should have the same driver , or at least the drivers from the 1080s (which were installed first) should be compatible downwards for the 10 series..

Yet after hours of installing problems and driver screwups and even a windows clean install, nicehash keeps crashing ...

I have no more ideas were to look for the problem.. both nicehash 2 and legacy dont work properly...

Any ideas?

Thanks!

I've had Nicehash give me problems also and I run 5 * 1070s.  So figure out what coin you want to mine and get a miner for that coin and see how it does.  I have issues with CCminer, but Claymore and EWBF work fine for me.  Once you try another miner you can see if it's just Nicehash or hardware.
130  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Power settings Asus Strix 8gb Models. on: October 01, 2017, 03:11:07 PM
If they are the Asus 1070 Strix I have 4 of them.  In MSI Afterburner I set TDP to 75%, Core to +125, Mem to +500 Mhz.  Anything over that and either the hash rate slows down or EWBF will crash.  Of course I've got different batches of cards so the older act a bit different than the newer.

with EBWF mining Zencash I get @ 450 Sol/S from each GPU.

As far as my website being down, it appears to be fine but maybe there was a problem a few hours ago? -Not sure. Please let me know if you can not reach the site once you read this message.

Website works fine now.  One of the issues I've noticed both with Ubuminer and nvOC is my USB speeds are terrible.  Last night I finally put the image on an old 5400 rpm 80 gb HDD and boom I had fast boot up.  Hopefully tonight I have some more time to throw a new 0.72 image back on the HDD and see how it goes--USB sticks are out of the question unless I find a USB setting in the BIOS that's slowing the system down.

I do like the option of setting clocks by coin and look forward to trying out dstm's miner.  Thanks for your time and commitment!
132  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Awesome Miner on: October 01, 2017, 12:22:19 PM
I've used it with EWBF miner and it does great when the miner fails or goes to 0 Sol/s.. Awesome Miner will restart the miner so you don't wake up and find your miner has been down all night.

Initial setup can take some time, but it comes down to a Managed Miner or a Profit Managed Miner.  I was able to use it with any pool I threw at it.

Sorry I have been crazy busy lately guys. Has anyone tried v0.72 on their rigs? I am hoping some people will have favorable results without needing to use Recovery Mode to get past their first boot. I will be doing some more testing this weekend and making adjustments as necessary.

Got home late last night and downloaded v0.72 and put it on my Lexar USB stick.  Had about 30 mins this morning to unplug the SSD and fire up using Ubuminer.  Desktop came up first time and resolution was probably 640 x 480.  Desktop was very slow and finally the mouse showed up and rolling over the left menu buttons could take 30 seconds for them to come up.  Didn't have much time to do anything else so I'll look at it again tonight.  My rig has a ASUS PRIME Z270-A mobo with 5 x 1070 GPUs.

Also is Ubuminer able to use the onboard video display or do I need to plug it into my GPU?  I had the monitor plugged into the GPU since I've tried nvOC before--figured it was the same config.
135  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: nvlddmkm stopped responding, Windows 10 on: September 27, 2017, 12:57:12 AM
If you have all the latest Windows updates then I believe you will have to half-split the problem which is either the OS or the hardware.  Easiest way I can think of is to download the free nvOC software and give it a go.  See if things improve or not.  I just don't know a good way to figure out if you are dealing with software or hardware.

The nvOC the last time I checked, you hook your monitor to the GPU that's in the first x16 slot--apparently it doesn't like onboard video being used.

Perhaps you can remove the GPUs and start with one and isolate some sort of pattern to the crashing.  Like perhaps it works fine with 3, or maybe it crashes with one particular card in the mix?
136  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: anyone can help with this error ?Rig gtx 1070 on: September 26, 2017, 11:32:42 PM
I run my 5 1070s at 75% TDP using MSI afterburner.  For my particular Asus 1070 strixs that means they are running about 120 watts to 130 watts per GPU.  Did you undervolt or are you at the stock TDP?
137  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: nvlddmkm stopped responding, Windows 10 on: September 26, 2017, 11:23:16 PM
It runs great, but then crashes after 2 hours... have mined up to 6 hours one time without crashing but that was once, it's usually only a couple hours and then it crashes. I'm thinking about going back to Windows 7

are you saying that Windows crashes or EWBF crashes and stops running?

Device manager shows my driver version at:  22.21.13.8494

Driver version filename is:  385.41-desktop-win10-64bit-international-whql.exe
138  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Rig Not hashing error in ethos with P106 cards on: September 26, 2017, 11:10:39 PM
Hello.

Greetings.

I have been mining with 6xP106 on Ethos.

OC at +750 mem and power at 80 watts.
Have not filled the CC yet.

The cards whenever they crash the rigs shows in the panel 'possible pool connection problem, rig is not hashing' with a Red Triangle mark. (You will know the sign if you are familiar with ethos).

http://imgur.com/a/6W8c3

The miner shows 0 Hash rate during the error. Then I have to reboot the rigs and they work properly afterwards.

The pools, failover and wallet are obviously correct. It has to be noted that it does not happens to all P106 rigs together, if pool connection was the problem it should happen to all rigs.

This I thought was happening due to ethminer but then I shifted to Claymore and its happening with it too.

the rigs were very stable with Windows though and no such error ever came.
No Clue why only on Ethos.

Any help or input from the community would be appreciated

Thanks

Why not go back to Windows?
139  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: anyone can help with this error ?Rig gtx 1070 on: September 26, 2017, 11:05:03 PM
you didn't list your motherboard, but I've heard that enabling the 4G in the BIOS is required once you get past a certain number of GPUs.  What mobo you using?

What wattage is your power supply?  I run a 5 GPU 1070 rig and use two 750W power supplies.  I've got a bit of a power cushion but planning on getting another GPU if the prices will ever come back down...

140  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: nvlddmkm stopped responding, Windows 10 on: September 26, 2017, 11:01:19 PM
I'm using Win 10 also and occasionally I see the nvlddmkm error, but I've found either Claymore or EWBF miners seem the run the best for my rig.  EWBF I have a watchdog script for that will autorestart EWBF, and Claymore seems to behave.  CCMiner will eventually crash so I stay away from that.

What algos are you trying to mine?  I also found Awesome Miner to be a very nice program (free for 2 computers) as you can set whatever algo and it will restart the miner if it drops to 0 or crashes.  BSODs I don't think anything can help though.

Also what motherboard you have and did you configure the BIOS to use the correct PCI Gen, etc?
