YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS, its working, thanks a TON

It was the dns line that did it, soon as I added that, the picks and shovels were moving!! Input from several others also very helpful. The DNS line was last puzzle piece.

Np on the caps, I did catch that

I just noticed I capitalized Sudo and that wont work, make sure its just lower case sudo. I edited the commands to make them correct.

Ugg I wrote that too early, sometimes I swear I need to re-read my notes.

I changed the code to make it correct my fault sorry about that. It should be correct now to bring an interface up.

Thanks Doff will try all those suggestions.

Finally decided to grab the image file from the OP. All looked fine until I booted up, seems it doesnt like my network although all my rigs using usb miners run error free

also noticed that the new image removes the 'configure ip' and 'shutdown' from the web gui interface for bitfury, is this to be expected?

thoughts?

How do I find out what the settings in the interfaces file should be?
125  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: **US** BitFury Setup Guide on: November 23, 2013, 12:08:33 PM
think Im getting close. Looks like its my network settings. When I look at the output of one of the screens I see this

'no route to host'

126  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: **US** BitFury Setup Guide on: November 22, 2013, 12:06:22 PM
And bitfury's accounts/RMA team has gone radio silent.  RMA was supposed to be processed days ago and now I can't even get a response.  Is this normal for them?

Dave has sent me several emails over the last 2 days in an effort to get my cards working. Quite happy with the level of customer service from them so far.
127  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: **US** BitFury Setup Guide on: November 21, 2013, 12:19:50 PM
Here is my pool setup and output of sudo screens

I also see this when I boot pi, but not every time

That 'bad: 32' does that mean both boards arrived doa? Huh

Need some help people  Smiley

Read every single post carefully and tried lots of things, still cannot get my bitfury hashing. Its latest from them using their image. I am trying btcguild, worker name, stratum (no http) etc all correct. I have other rigs mining fine with gpu and USB erupters so I know my network can talk to the world fine. mboard 3 hcards 2.2

Pretty sure I can rule out all the possible mistakes that are mentioned in this thread. I can ping pi from other pcs on my network. Pi can ping stratum.btcguild.com, I can ssh in to pi, using kb and mouse I can surf web using gui on pi.

Have tried just one hcard and tried 2 hcards, bus 1 and 2 positions. Have never had noncerate show anything but it does constantly flash 0  Sad

I was messing with some files and may have ended up confusing myself. Below is current setting, if there are errors lemme know please

Been messing with this all day and have to go to work now. Will be back tomorrow morning NY time to try any suggestions anyone might have

Ahhh many thanks to swimmer and tronger. I just had a closer look at mine and it says V3.0 and has the pcie connectors. It also has the terminal screws so I was confused. Looks like I can just hook up directly to the pcie and I am good to go, will post screen shot when I get it working.

can someone post a pic of how they connected their psu to the mainboard. Looked all over and can't figure this out. I have the paperclip jumper on psu working so it will provide power but I don't know how to connect psu to the main bitfury board.

Just looked on your page (nice page by the way). How does that plug into rpi? do you need an adapter for the rpi hdmi connection?

Since this thread is about buying useless things for mining, I figured I'd mention the little gadget I bought to use monitor my Raspberry Pi mining setup. Yes, I have a Pi, AND a tiny LCD display to show my miner status...

I already had a Pi mining, saw this little display, bought one, and wrote some software for it. Actually, it's FAR from useless, and I don't think it was a waste of money at all Smiley

Too bad you can't get one with an Amazon gift card...  LOL

what are you trying to heat? IF you are touching them you could heat say a coffee.

After about 6 inches they don't give of much heat unless you are trying to heat up your seed tray for your pot seed starter box.  Cheesy

I'm a believer, I sent them $1800 today for starter kit and one extra board

This is great troll bait, which I think was the original intention.

My first response was going to be 'how do you type with all that drool on your keyboard?'

However, I've decided to feed the troll with 'I have more money than I know what to do with so I amuse myself with watching shares accepted all day', its like watching the old windows defrag program, hypnotic.

Fess up, how many people just used to sit and watch that defrag moving stuff around?

136  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Which one to buy right now ASICMiner Blade or CoinTerra? on: September 25, 2013, 12:34:31 PM
Dragon kid! I hope you understand the risks before you invest your money! Bitcoin hardware are investments!

Investments are priced based on risk preference, expected payout, and discounted by time, and liquidity. Are you familiar with expected values and discounting? If not please learn about them! If yes then read on:

ASICMiner is overpriced! Because probability to deliver is almost 100%. It's a sure thing, very little risk. The expected BTC payout is depending on what you think difficulty increase will be. Because lots and lots of people are paying ~3.5-4 BTC that means most people believe difficulty increase won't be that much as 70%, and value low risk.

Cointerra is so cheap! Because probability to deliver is very low. It is also far into the future. The more risky and more time, the less valuable. If you put your money into Cointerra pre-order, there is a high chance delivery will be delayed. Then every day you wait is lost money. So risky! But if you get lucky it's so good!

Bitcoin hardware is not the most efficient market, but it is still good enough to help you decide what you want. If you are OK to take very risky investment with good reward, do Cointerra/fast hash/whatever preorder. If you don't want to take any risks with your money, do ASICMiner. If you want to do something in the middle, I suggest BitFury.

Good luck.

I have done a LOT of reading about this exact topic and this is good advice in my opinion.
137  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Is it worth buying & selling? on: September 22, 2013, 10:40:20 AM
I bought 10 at $46 each and thought that was a smokin deal.

When I used them for a week and saw how good they were I decided I wanted more.

A few minutes after this I got an email saying I qualified for a 'coupon' purchase from my original vendor and the price was now 0.13 BTC (about $17 at the time) so I bought 100 Grin

I call this a Wayseer thing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OPR3GlpQQJA, its like the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle, Chaos Theory, things that will be well understood in 500 years.

ROI? bah, very doubtful, its a hobby and I'm enjoying it. People need hobbies.

Is it worth buying and selling to make a profit, nah. You can make a bit for sure if you hussle but there are far easier ways to make money.
138  Other / Archival / Re: Pictures of your mining rigs! on: September 22, 2013, 10:15:08 AM
So i guess a boat is out of the picture as a hobby.  Undecided  Huh Even though they cost Thousands of dollars.

Ya boat is definitely out of the picture as a hobby, demonmaestro. Cheesy

Here's my daily driver, not my hobby, just some basic transportation that I use on my way to help out at the soup kitchen (as is my ATV in the background).

I definitely should not include my high performance snowmobiles, camper, my boat, 2013 F150 4x4 and other hobby items  Grin

oops, thread drift, my apologies, back on topic, here are some pics of a few of my rigs:

Newegg had those for $9.99 about 3 weeks ago. I got 12 of them and they are great, virtually silent.

In fact, there is a special price right now for a 4 pack of cooler master fans on amazon right now.
