And now for some internet porn, BTC style!

30 Block Erupters in Anker Hubs

40 more Erupters in Anker Hubs

6x Blades (side view)

Same Blades (front view)

I also have 2 Bitfury boards but the setup isn't photogenic yet.  Spotswood is building a case for the rig and I have 5 more boards coming in October.  I think I'll do red fans for that setup.  I also won 4 Red Fury USB miners on eBay today.  I should have those in hand early next week.  Smiley

Personally I think non-hobbyists are just as irrelevant to change as wall street traders. Supporting the idea of bitcoin at a loss is where the glory is, bitcoin is not an investment, it's an idea. Buying bitcoin for FIAT is smart, but not interesting. Buying hardware is what makes bitcoin successful, at a loss or not.

I bought a BE for 2.6 BTC, chew on that non-ROI you the man with a tie and corporate approach to mining, just because I wanted one.
Now I'm trying to buy a BF1 for 1.4 BTC = not so smart either.

I don't see my early adopter advantage as something that makes me rich, I see those BTC as play around money. Every time someone makes an effort to change something (BFL, BE, BF1 or in non-bitcoin world: Intel with Atom, Sigma with DP1, hell I even bought the N-Gage!!!) I sponsor it with a loss.

And every time it brings me lots of rewards, the atom gave me a completely silent computer, the N-Gage got me into the games industry... we'll see what bitcoin brings.

BTW, the N-Gage was the first phone that had a stereo plug, talking on the phone in stereo since then, best invention since the mobile phone. The N-Gage also used Symbian, a stepping stone for all "smart" phones. The N-Gage was so full of inventions, and all people talked about was how retarded you looked when you put it too your head. Just like all you talk about now is ROI, who cares about ROI?!

Best part of your link is I got to see the oil cooled rig again!

My oily erupters have gone 20 days since their last breath of air. They are still doing well in their new environment, which looks a bit different to the first iteration.

Very well stated!  And yet 50% who read this will think your sniffing glue, lol.  I like to think people like that wear socks with sandals and use a condom even when their partner is on the pill.

And how many hobbies return ANYTHING on your investment?  Bitcoin mining just isn't for the risk-averse investor or the "socks w/sandals" crowd.  Period.

Oh come on , you can't compare train toy and this Cheesy this is the real deal Cheesy I would not mind spending that too Cheesy

If I had option of buying a toy train or feed the poor , I would select poor.
If I had option of buying usb miner that will never break even or feed the poor , I would select the poor.
If I had option of getting a boat or feeding the poor , WHERE IS MY BOAT ALREADY Cheesy

Know the difference , not everything is a useless hobby , but some stuff are obviously useless. The guy who spend 4500 for going around the beach looking for gold was a bad hobby (I dont care if you enjoy it , you are not a smart cookie if you do that ) , the guy who bought a boat is awesome. You should be able to see the difference between these two.

So i guess a boat is out of the picture as a hobby.  Undecided  Huh Even though they cost Thousands of dollars.

I've had boats, but their cost (especially yachts - even small) are a damn pain in the ass in maintenance. Now it's quad/hex/octocopter building and flying for me. Even used one for a certain pentesting contract haha.

Trillium - those oil cooled BEs - are those overclocked ones by any chance?

Ya boat is definitely out of the picture as a hobby, demonmaestro. Cheesy

Here's my daily driver, not my hobby, just some basic transportation that I use on my way to help out at the soup kitchen (as is my ATV in the background).

I definitely should not include my high performance snowmobiles, camper, my boat, 2013 F150 4x4 and other hobby items  Grin

oops, thread drift, my apologies, back on topic, here are some pics of a few of my rigs:

Damn dude!  Quit judging people who have different priorities than you.  It's a terrible trait and people will dislike you.  Worry about yourself and the people you love.

And how heartless can you be, really?  If that old guy at the beach didn't have that metal detector to keep him busy he'd probably just rather die.  He probably lost his wife, his kids don't visit anymore since mom died and most of his war buddies are in nursing homes now.  And the beach and his detector are all he has to pass the time.

Yeah, I made up a little story there.  But it's to illustrate a point.  You do NOT know what motivates people to do what they do.  You know only you.  So stop judging people!

And just one more time because you obviously have a problem with reading comprehension... it's not always a choice of "either, or".  Most people can do more than one thing with their money.  The guy who buys a $10,000 1922 Lionel Train locomotive might also give $200,000 a year to AIDS Research.  And you would still want to call him an idiot because he didn't donate $210,000.  Pffft! Who are you to tell people what is useless?
What charities do you contribute to?
How many of your days off have you spent at the shelter this month?
How many Xbox games do you have?
How many block erupters do you have?
Im so tired of little shitheads telling people they are stupid because they dont agree on how other people spend there money. Why the hell are you in this thread if you dont have something to contribute? And for the record I would rather wipe my ass with my money than give it to the drug addicted strung out meth heads in my town who spend all there money on crank. But I do donate my time to the SPCA  and other charities like The Unbroken Chain Foundation, Scaring the Children, The Bill Graham Foundation and SEVA.  I have also spent a small foundation on live music and vacations what kinda ROI will I get there besides life experience happiness and great times?
Keep sitting behind you screen telling people that they are stupid it seems to be making you happy and I suppose that could be a hobby.

Hi , I am Professor James Moriarty , says it right there on my user name
I have contributed the elderly charity here where I live (charities are not called same stuff in every country but its the same object)
We don't have homeless shelters here , but I usually go to nursing houses as much as I can (usually 5-6 times a month)
 None , I don't have a xbox
None , I dont have any block erupters

 Their money*

I respect the fact that you contribute to charities , the thread shifted because I addressed to people who spend money on erupters and lose money while their intention when they first ordered was making money , after that I find out there are people who spend 4500 on sh**ty toy trains rather than giving it to charity . I would rather die and give all my money , my body , my organs to people rather than spend 4500 on a toy.

However I did showed my respect and awesomess of owning a boat and A DODGE VIPER if I did not see wrong , those are not hobby those are essantially assets to me . So what I am trying to say is that , you can have a hobby , I am not dissing 'having a hobby' , I am dissing stupid hobbies comparing to others. If people are blind enough to say 'I can have a toy train , you cant judge me for having a toy train rather than helping poors or getting an awesome bike, its my choice'

Well honey pie you are wrong , I can judge you for buying a toy train rather than an awesome bike or helping poor or getting a boat or whatever you can buy comparing to toy train , I am on the internet , I have all the possible ways to judge , I can judge you for the way your hair stays , I can judge you for how you are taking a c-*p every morning , I can judge you for the style you are sitting on your chair right now , this is internet , I can do whatever I want Cheesy

This will be my last post here about these , sorry for inconvience everyone looking for a picture of mining rigs.

 Also ;

ROI means return of investment , if you even lose money , you still have a ROI but your ROI is negative .

What you guys are trying to say is 'breaking even' , which means covering the cost of initial investment. Please dont talk without knowing what you are saying.
