I do applaud the effort that several folks put forth to organize and get on a path that would lead to resolution.
I do want to present a viewpoint/perspective that several of us have that prevents us from jumping in too deep.
In filing a complaint, you have to also give up much of your personal information.  You have to show/prove your investment to "the authorities" and that is an official record that can be used against you.  I just cannot go on record as an investor and the amount - not without a guarantee of results.
I do have many shares - I just wish I would have sold instead of riding it down. - I was really convinced that he was going to figure things out, re-organize and keep the mining and divs going using his own system.
(I could have bought a few italian sports cars with the profits if I had sold - I have more than a handful of shares)

Maybe I am too optimistic, but I want to give him an appropriate amount of time to get his thoughts together and reconcile before more creative measures are explored.

HELP !!!

I have not ran my multibit.exe for a couple months.
When I did... I noticed my last payment from Friedcat was March 30.  Why have I not received any payments beyond March 30?
My shares were with BTC-TC.  when they went down, they transferred my shares to direct with Friedcat.  All has been well up to the March 30 payment.
Anyone else have this issue?
Is there a direct link or website address to the shares that Friedcat has?  Does he have an email?

Is it me or is Martin enjoying that situation?

lol, maybe. I think he has a perma-smile except when Lisa noted the exact moment his heart broke during Valentine's Day. Martin's always been a little odd.

No, that was Ralf that had his heart broken by Lisa.
125  Economy / Speculation / Re: Winklevoss ETF question on: February 22, 2014, 09:13:28 PM
With all the talk of the upcoming Winklevoss ETF, I'm curious to know how come the bitcoin price is anticipated to surge when it goes into effect???
Can anybody explain the reasoning of this expectation?

It is all the Roth and 401K money "tied up" in corporate retirement accounts - like mine.   I cannot allocate my retirement funds to anything that is not on the SEC approved exchanges.
Once the ETF is in place, a great deal of money (billions?) is then available to be put into it.

I know of many others in the same boat... ready to put a % of the retirement $ into the Winkleviss ETF.
Many of us are NOT confident in the US dollar and have already put much of our retirement into precious metals, energy, etc.
It will be HUGE and will move the btc price.

128  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 21, 2014, 05:47:38 PM
In NYC bitcoin was on the front page of the Times last week, front page of the Metro today.

I STILL have not met a single cab driver who knew what bitcoin was.

So growth.  Much runway.  Wow.

I agree, the runway is being paved (a very nice wide/smooth runway)

not sure if someone already mentioned it but Bitcoin was mentioned in two huge TV shows last week or so.

129  Economy / Speculation / Re: The fiat experiment: Stopping time on: January 14, 2014, 07:52:28 PM
No sign of hyperinflation in any advanced economy today.  Maybe come back in 10 years and check again.

Yes, but isn't it true that when hyperinflation has happened in the past, it has been very quick and without warning?
Based on the articles I have read and the folks who are supposed to have done a good job in investigating such events, true hyperinflation will come almost overnight and almost no one will see it until it is too late.

I have not idea, just asking...

Tonight I dreamt that bitcoin crashed from $1000 down to single digits, but jumped up again before I had the chance to buy more. That shit was scary.

The only dreams I'm listening to are those of Hyena.  His were right on.

133  Economy / Speculation / Re: CampBX: Bid low! on: November 21, 2013, 06:25:43 PM
CampBX is selling around $540/btc.

Mtgox is $635/btc

Everyone should come on over to camp bx, buy a fuck ton of bitcoins, and let the price go up  Grin

I just bought some at Camp.

Hey for everyone's information - they accept Dwolla and since I cannot use Dwolla any longer at Gox, I have been using it at CampBX.  Very easy and cheap once you have Dwolla set up and running.

I'm still experimenting, but the Dwolla/Camp combo is good for me so far.

correction !!!!!
since my last money xfers, they stopped using Dwolla.   OOOOOOUUUUUUCCCCCHHHHHH   !!!!!!!!
don't know what to think at the moment...

 Deposit money through:
ACH from Bank ($2)
Money Orders (Free)
Personal Check (Free)

Withdraw money through:

Yeah they discontinued Dwolla integration, so how are you still using it?

Whoa.  When did this happen?  I was about to use it for pulling fiat out.  I knew about the Gox/dwolla thing, but somehow missed it with Camp.   Maybe I missed the memo.   I may have to retract my earlier comments. sorry.

137  Economy / Speculation / Re: When will Bitcoin hit $500? on: November 07, 2013, 04:50:21 PM
Cheesy

As you can see the latest run up is probably only going to run for another fortnight before it corrects just before the end of november, slightly over the $500 mark.

And the best part of this whole thing is the use of "fortnight"  !!!!

I love it.   Plus, I believe the 2 week swag ... err I mean analytic conclusion.  Great work.
138  Economy / Speculation / Re: Winklevoss Bitcoin Trust on Bloomberg on: November 01, 2013, 06:37:52 PM

This will be so BIG that we (the bitcoin community) need an official weekly update from an insider? or someone who knows the progress of the approval process.
My biggest concern is getting busy and distracted on life issues and missing the announcement of the ETF launch.
I am serious... this will be huge.  Immediately, most of the working class, semi-retired and full retired folk that are searching for a place to put their large stash of 401k and roth money, will be buyers.

Just in my little circle of professionals, there is a very large amount of saved money just sitting in bonds and cash (guaranteed income funds) that is just looking for somewhere to go.  My peers are too conservative to get into bitcoin in its current "wild-west" environment, but are quite excited to hear that they may soon be able to invest in bitcoin with the security of the SEC/wall street.  Were talking about hundreds of thousands of US$ in just my little middle class circle of acquaintances.  I can imagine that if this is the case in just a small percentage of the US, especially once the media does its thing with it, we will have to prepare for a large step function in the price of BTC.

If anyone learns of a method to track and keep updated with the progress of this ETF, please share.  Maybe even a special email or distribution network may be in order.  Just a thought.

P.S. I am not real confident that the Winklevoss website will do the task of keeping the public updated and informed.  I am too suspicious that the information will be kept between "insiders" until it is too late.
139  Economy / Speculation / don't know if this will Pos or Neg affect BTC perception - Crypto Locker Virus on: October 27, 2013, 01:13:34 AM

New virus out there.
Encrypts your hard-drive.  You must pay ransom in bitcoins to unlock your machine.

I have not been able to confirm or debunk this article yet.

http://www.myfoxtwincities.com/story/23783270/crypto-locker-virus-infects-computers-across-us

Definitely gets more public attention placed on bitcoin.
140  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: October 24, 2013, 03:04:10 PM
My 401K will be a part of the inflow of 401K money into the Winklevoss BCT.  I doubt the trust will drive prices lower.  Money that can already buy that wants to buy BTC will have done so.  Money that currently can not buy BTC that wants to buy it may.  If that money overflows the trust holdings, the trust may buy and so may drive the price higher.

People that want BTC to USE IT won't be buying trust shares, it is for stagnant money, like 401Ks and pension trusts and such.

+1
I would suggest all 401k to hold gold/metals and hopefully this new ETF.  getting out of anything tied to US$ might be a good idea.  The FED reserve is out of control and not accountable to anyone.  scary stuff.
