Anyone know what the gender distribution of Kanopool? Please restrict you answer to the only two universally recognized genders: M/F

I'm just curious, I often will say things like "ok guys" ok "yeah, man!" but dont want to mislabel someone, out of respect.

lol

I have 2 male S9s, 1 female S9

Hope this helps!
My S9's are to be referred to as Antpoo's.

WOW, I was just trying to be encouraging, this crowd is tough. Come on 50/50 coin tossing flip flopping oil stained greasy dirty luck. Unreal.

You can't overcome the math except by eating chicken and calling upon the anime gods/goddesses.  That seems to influence luck a little Cheesy
Ok, to be totally correct and in compliance with everyone ... Ok here we go....(deep breath taken) ..... Come On 50/50 Chicken Eating Coin Tossing Anime Goddess Worshipping Flip Flopping Oil Stained Greasy Dirty Luck!! Whew. MINE ON WITH KANO-SAN.

Agreed, just looking at the possible solutions. MINE ON!! We are over 50%, every hour increases our chances of finding that next block. Come on Luck!!

WRONG!!

There is nothing relating to prior hashing that impacts the likelihood of the next second, minute, hour, day, week, and so on, finding a block.  (aside from difficulty changes.).

It's like flipping a coin 1,000,000 times and getting a heads every time.  The odds of getting a heads next flip is still 50%, just like the 999,999th time.

M

Not true.  After 1 million coin flips, the dirt and oils from your hand will affect the aerodynamics of the coin, thus affecting the 50/50 of the possible result.

Except the dirt and oils from your hand contaminates both sides of the coin equally over a million flips so it's still a 50/50 proposition. Cheesy

Indeed, NO ONE who's a bitcoin miner should want to see segshit actually implemented, or you want someone else to take some of the txn fees while YOU mine.
Not me, nor The Man who runs this pool!!  Wink

"Part of SegWit increased the cost of transactions with addresses that start with a '1'
Now one of the reason why transactions are still slow under segwit is that you have to transfer ALL your bitcoin to P2SH addresses ('3' addresses) to get the pre-segwit cost of transactions.
All addresses that start with '1' now cost 4 times as much to process with corecoin bitcoind."

Kano - So maybe Roger Ver was right when he said that BCash was the only way to fix the problem. But that was predominantly driven by the Antpoo BiteMe group. Hmmm.

Will Lightning Network solve the high transaction fee problems. Once the Block gets confirmed and in the chain, couldn't you use Lightning to send out the rewards and avoid the high fees? It would require "trust" but is that the future for Pool Operators who are conscious of costs?

Anyway... Interesting and good perspective. Thanks for the ground truth, lots of crap out there, that was the best explanation I have heard yet.

MINE ON WITH KANO-SAN, oh thats you. So MINE ON!! Thanks for a great pool and unquestionable SME knowledge.

Last 24 hrs?
No blocks = no rewards.

Last payout:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=789369.msg26690636#msg26690636

jiizzz ! They don't give me enough infos before renting, damn !

OK, would you give me a good strategy about mining duration? How much time have I to mine for interesting payout?

Last renting 24h solution burn me 30$US for 7.8TH/s, the goal may be to test wich device is most efficient before to buy it.

Any opinion, please?
Honestly, renting Hash rate is not a solution, especially on this pool, since $30 times 30 days is 900 dollars. Approximately 17 days to get full share for shares provided to the pool at 7.8TH. It truly is a gamble since we may hit 20 blocks or 5 in those 30 days and subsequent Ramp Down within the Payout period for the Shares you provided. You would be much better off just buying a Used miner like a S7 or Avalon 741 if you can get one and mine consistently over time. That way, while there is variance in when the pool hits a block, once you have your 5 times difficulty into the pool at your Hash Rate, you are going to get the maximum possible payout per block. That is all I got for you. Good Luck. If you want to compute possible Return on Investment, go here. http://tradebtc.net/bitcalc.php  I can tell you already that it doesn't look good for 7.8 TH/s. You would need a lot of luck.

Why is the Mem Pool slammed. Is it because only 5% of the BTC Network is signaling for SEGWIT?

Announcement from Caanan concerning the A8

Quote
821Annoucement

Yesterday in  Hangzhou we announced our Avalon 821, and laid out the roadmap for the 841, 861, 921 and Avalon 10 series.

Avalon 741 is end of life: the last batch is being produced and is promised to customers/distributors who will receiving their final shipments shortly.

Avalon 761, our solution with integrated PSU  is likewise End of Life. The last batch is being built and will ship out in early Jan.

821:  The Avalon 821 will ship at 11 TH (terahash) and 1200 Watts for a power efficiency of 109Watts per TH, a great improvement over the 741 which was rated at 150 Watts/TH.

841: the Avalon 841 will ship at 13TH and 1200 Watts for a power efficiency of  92 Watts/TH. I expect this to be a Q2 Product.

It's too early to talk about the 861 (integrated PSU), the 921 and 10 series, but 2018 promises to be a great year.

821 Prices:   We have not yet settled on price for 821, but it will be driven by market forces and the price of Bitcoin. Demand for product is more than 10X of the supply and the pricing in the spot market clearly reflects this. As well, the price of BTC has drawn in many new customers. As soon as I have pricing I will communicate it to you. Please do not ask for it, we will tell everyone at the same time.

Ship dates: After we finish the last 741 and 761,  the 821 will go into production in January. I wish I had exact dates, but as of today I only have estimates. We should be able to ship to a small number of customers in late January. We will contact the customers who have been selected for January shipment, so please be patient.

In February and March volumes will increase, but be advised that February has Chinese New Year and we will shut down between the 14th and the 23rd.

Distributors:  We are no longer accepting applications for resellers. Given the constraints in supply, we will only add a small number of new distributors. Hopefully in Q2 we will be able to open up the opportunity. If you have signed up, we will be going over our list and making our selections.

New Forecast:  When I have pricing I will be asking everyone to do a new forecast based on the pricing. A forecast is your estimate of how many machines you will order. Do not simply put down a large number to get my attention. We select customers both large and small and if you do not order what you forecast your entire order will be cancelled.

So capabilities outlined but no prices yet.
Looks to be an interesting 2018.

That is great news. Batter up, looks like they are going to hit a few Homeruns. The only question is, Do I keep the S9's or "SELL" them on Ebay for a Profit at 5K each as I replace them with 8 Series miners from Canaan. I am digging it. MINE ON WITH KANO-SAN!!

I was thinking the same thing......  Funny. I have 4 more s9's coming in January, and I think they can sell at a real good premium being new.  Depending on availability of the 841, might be a smart move, ie FREE miners! with pocket change

I am not going to sell the S9's until I have a UPS Tracking Number on the A8's. If I had 4 more coming, I would mine with them until then. Too much opportunity out there mining and accumulating BTC to be near sighted. The Fundamentals of BTC have not changed. There will only ever be 21,000,000. 4 million have been lost forever into the ethers. 16 million total population of BTC ever to be created and a 7 billion human market. It doesn't get any more Inelastic than that. If I were you, I would Fire them puppies up. MINE ON WITH KANO-SAN!! The best little Bitcoin mining pool on earth.

They fixed it.

On a side note when does the A8 go on presale? Keep hearing tomorrow but not finding the data. Would like to add some hashing power to Kano.
I will definitely pre-order and max out my power. Calling my Electrician Friend in the AM to max out my Power Panel with the remaining slots I have for 220/240. It is time to utilize all that free money and turn it into Canaan A8 Miners!! MINE ON WITH KANO-SAN.

FYI to the Members: Coinbase enabled support for BCH today which caused people to freak out and panic sell, nothing good comes from losing ones head when "change" occurs. It is like watching unstable people scream in to the air because they lose an election. Irrational.

Anyway, if you have some reserve, which I did, I took the opportunity to Buy the Dip. BTC dipped below 16K on Coinbase so I bought a little more. So just in case you were wondering why the recent price drop on BTC, that is the reason.

Last time I looked, BCH was trading over 8K, which is very nice since it added another very nice percentage to my overall portfolio. I can now afford to triple up on Hashpower. Diggin it!!

Looks like Canaan has some more specs on the A8 up: https://canaan.io/product/avalonminer-821/

Hope to pick a few of these up and get my TH/s up there towards the top of the stats.

With the PSU's included, wonder if they will be sold for $2500?
Yeah the picture isn't correct - that's the 741 picture.
The prototype A8 I saw in September included a PSU as part of the miner Smiley
Thanks for the note, Kano.

For the person questioning why go Avalon v. an S9...ask any of us whom have done extended (as in months) mining with both. I would venture to guess you would hear (1) reliability (the Avalons, in my experience, are significantly better designed & built), and (2) there are some of us whom have been around a long time who prefer to not support the Bitmain onslaught in any case.

 Kiss

I agree, they just need to increase their availability. I keep checking on their US Distributor Website and the 741's are always sold out. Also a question for anybody on the Forum. Who has done business with Minerwarez and how would you rate their sales and support? Thanks in advance. MINE ON WITH KANO-SAN!!

Looking at purchasing 5 of these, it will max out my power availability but naerly double my TH/s contribution to the Pool. My BCH converted to BTC will easily cover the cost. MINE ON WITH KANO-SAN.

Thank you, Koelby, for the block! Nice work!  Grin
So after all that agonizing by some of the new miners, that block was under 300% difficulty, our luck for Dec is still almost 93%, and our PAPPS is over 110%  Grin

Moral of the story: Patience my new fellow miners, this is still and we always be the best and most profitable place to mine.  mine on!

Patience, Maturity, Understanding, Self Control, Common Sense and above all else, THE DATA tells the story. Why would I want to pay higher fees on less BTC, yet have the same fixed cost. Yes Congrats to Koelby for finding the Block. MINE ON with KANO-SAN!!!

I can't afford that. Sad
I hope we do go much longer without any.
So my site has been grabbing 5 minute detailed info for a few pools in my upcoming minergain site but dont have the info live yet.   Eventually this data can use your real miner data to do "what if scenarios - even though luck is luck".  So all this got me wondering so I thought I would share some real comparison info...  So if you were with slush for December, here would be your btc per Th that your miners submitted....  After the date is the number of blocks found and the next column is the BTC / TH for that day.  It fully takes into account the hash rate for every block and the 2% that they take.

Total: 0.003702629 per Th/s.

So if you have an S9 like me with 13.5Th/s, that is .0499854915 BTC for the month (assuming fully "vested" in the PPNLS).  As I have mentioned before, the 5 blocks found on Kano (even with the current 8 day delay) is .04509834.  If we got another block today, it would be roughly .054 BTC for the month.  And if we picked off another one tomorrow, it would be roughly .063 BTC.  So yes, there is a little more gambling here, but the potential upside is way more than the sites that give lots of blocks per day...  And isn't that really why we are all in this "business" - gambling?  That is exactly why I moved to Kano from Slush after just one month with them...  I can afford a little electricity if needed, but with that said, my full power bill was paid by the 3rd of this month...  I also purchase coins on the exchanges, and this is a much smaller investment per BTC - just slower.  Anyway, just to give a little perspective for the newbies (me included).

The data doesn't lie..... and luck is like the weather, just wait a little while, it will change. KANO-SAN MINE ON!!!
