121  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Shed Setup for Miners (240v) on: December 15, 2017, 05:58:46 PM
Just to be clear I was talking about running a 30 amp breaker to a dual 6-15r  Or 6-20r outlet.  Depending on voltages you could get away with running 4 s9s on one 30 amp breaker. At 1400w and above 233v rms you are below 6 amps. This depends on batch, ambient temps and PSU efficiency.

Go compare prices. Keep in mind the price of the outlets. Great northern data doesn't use PDUs and they have to use all csa/ulc listed hardware. I figure there's a reason they didn't go with PDUs.

Most cost effective is 6-15r or 6-20r non locking  (no l). These are 240v. From there run a y splitter cable. 30 amp 10 AWG.
123  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: 3-phase 150kVA Transformer 600V to 240V - How many S9 miners can it supply? on: December 15, 2017, 06:08:39 AM
Is the power distribution panel 3 phase as well? If so here's the math

Watts / volts x 1.732

that's how you get amperage draw if you place a single miner across each phase

1400w / 240 x 1.732 = 10.1 amps

400 / 10.1 = 39.6

39 (round down) x 3 = 117 miners

At 100% power factor 150 kva  = 150 kw

150 kw / 1.4 kw = 107 miners with no safety margin.

I do not know if you can run up to the nameplate capacity of a transformer.

125  Other / Off-topic / Re: How to protect my computer against external mining? on: December 13, 2017, 08:46:35 PM
Being hacked from an unprotected or worse yet a duplicate SSID Wi-Fi network is easy to avoid by running a VPN kill switch setup. Being hacked for bitcoin mining is the least of your worries. Anyone using a novel exploit will NOT be picked up by antivirus or blocked by a firewall.

A VPN is the only answer!

Run a VPN with a kill switch

Do you have an rms meter? Need volts rms to get an accurate wattage.
128  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: DragonMint 16TH/S halongmining.com on: December 11, 2017, 04:57:57 AM
30% less heat than a 2000w miner not an s9. Conservation of energy.
129  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: How do you distribute power to hundreds of miners? on: December 11, 2017, 01:10:36 AM
Just treat each phase individually. Most cost effective way is 6-20r dual receptacles with 6-20p to c13 y splitter cables. Cost will be about $70 to power 4. Just keep all 3 phases balanced.

Well, looks like they're finally sold out (Jan 21-31 batch). I wonder how many they sold and what's their next move...

Damn I'm going to order 6 on the 15th
131  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: December 03, 2017, 09:39:33 PM
To anyone complaining about import taxes:

I'm paying 338$ per S9 in customs duties, FYI!

Please stop complaining ^^

Canada? If so what's your total cost in Canadian?

Canada Tariffs are $99.00 for the set of 1 S9 with 1 PSU from Bitmain.

Not including gst/pst? Thanks fornthe info just trying to plan ahead.

133  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: KVA transformer needed for 50 S9 220V on: December 02, 2017, 08:06:48 PM
Also whats the plan to deal with the approximately 250,000 btus of heat?
134  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: KVA transformer needed for 50 S9 220V on: December 02, 2017, 06:55:33 PM
Amps you want to consider a balanced load. The math works out like this:

1 across phase a-b
1 across phase b-c
1 across phase a-c

Each drawing 6.13 amps per phase. The total amps is 6.13 x 1.732 = 10.62 amps for every 3 miners on a balanced load.

For 51 miners that would be 17 triplets x 10.62 amps = 180.54 amps

So 180 amps flowing on each line and through the main breaker
135  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: KVA transformer needed for 50 S9 220V on: December 02, 2017, 03:53:04 PM
Power factor should be between 0.95 and 1

You would need a minimum 70kva transformer.

What is the voltage?
137  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Three Phase Power (amp) Requirement for Antminer S9 on: November 29, 2017, 07:12:52 PM
Bi al are you saying that you can triple up on say a 60 AMP three phase ?

What I am asking is how many rigs can you run on 60 amps?

With every 11 amps on 3 phase at 220 you can run 3 (one on each phase)

At 55 amps that would be 15. You could run 14 or 13 as well but not likely 16.
138  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Three Phase Power (amp) Requirement for Antminer S9 on: November 28, 2017, 07:01:36 PM
Thanks.
Excellent reading material!

No problem if you have any questons regarding the math shoot. I am not an engineer though.

If you have 3 s9s each drawing 6.36 amps one attached to each phase :

- Phase a-b, a-c and b-c are each drawing 6.36 amps
- each line has two s9s attached
- each line is drawing 11.01552 amps ( 6 36 x 1.732)
- watts and kwhr are still exactly the same as a single phase system

1 KW * 3412 = BTUs

1 KW = 1000 joules per second
