121  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [CLOSED / GROUP BUY] HASHFAST(BATCH1) 1.55 BTC for 10GH, JOHN K. ESCROW, MAHALO! on: September 01, 2013, 05:40:25 AM
Thanks again for the offer of hosting from those outside the co-op, but we're limiting the hosting for this Group Buy to co-op members as they're part owners of the device & should have a first shot. We have serious offers of very inexpensive hosting with quite a bit of built-in security from within the co-op from firsttimeuser, BeepBeep2, and even kaz911 in the Netherlands with dual network connections if we agreed to the shipping delay to Europe to gain network redundancy.

No worries though, there's plenty of interest from outside the co-op for hosting opportunities for those with ultra cheap electricity/bandwidth. Averaging over 100 hits a day on ebay for miner hosting services.

I'm receiving a trickle of PM votes. I won't say how the voting is going on that side but voting ends on Monday night at 9PM HST.

That is awesome that firsttimeuser, BeepBeep2, and even kaz911 are willing to step forward and donate their locations to "amateur" hosting.  I feel as though the community and your group buy co-op will be more than happy to hear of cheap hosting solutions for their invested miners in whatever locations they may be in.

For those in the USA.. there is a centrally located hosting position that runs at a low rate and I plan to host at the rate everyone agrees on.  I am not a buyer of your co-op but due offer my services to anyone.

regards!

i will think about doing escrow if theres enough interest in this. Altho the way OP was just talkign on my channel ill have to have a big think about it.

It is good to see people reasonably talking and considering.  I am open for any help that I can offer to any group buy on hosting any miner at no profit.  I want technology and freedom meow.

Question everything... I really do not want to help people get scammed.. or give all of these hopes of secure almost free hosting and then whoops.. ASIC dev screwed you again.

Agreed i like to try and do what i can for the community. Main reason  started my pools. My issues are al these asic companys offering deal that are to good to be true. The personality of the Person preforming the goup buy also has a impact on the group buys. usally if there offering a deal that would mean everyons loss is the same then i guess as long as your willing to accept the loss on your part its ok but thats up to each person.

I am trying to find the most open source and secure solution to these rigs.  I love your work on the pools.. really cool to go to your site and see 0% plastered everywhere.

I have been working with bobsag3 who will be living close to me.  He has teamed up with UltiBit Cointerra Group buys... this may be a direction the OP and others should consider... I plan to host anything I can for the community.

I am also considering starting a group buy for my facilities location where truly open source prices will be the hosting % fee.  (My Father's large facility so all of the fees are up to him.. i could just say they are gaming towers hogging his dual ISPs data and kWh but he has a PHD in CS and is privy to the network and willing to see his son work).

I am sorry for not reading post pages 2-3 but I am just saying thank you for creating a pool with fair fees.

125  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Group Buy] Avalon ASIC Chips (SebastianJu) Batch 6 ordered (Closed) on: September 01, 2013, 01:16:44 AM
The way these pre-order chips got funneled down is very hard to follow.

I think that it is a good idea to have some of the 1-5 Batch refunds go through so that some of the open source devs who only care about studying how an ASIC works in practice rather than SIM theory can appreciate the chips.

Well thanks to SebastianJu I have had one of these ASICs this whole time.. however Klondike got really screwed over and he is sort of my teacher in all of this. So no PCB to play with but I'm more concerned for they way everyone got screwed.

Hey Guys,
This is all exciting news, I vote amateur. All the collocation proposals from GB members looking good, my preference still goes to philipma1957, Keep in in Jersey, woah! Smiley
I am also really happy to see Sam, voxelot, and Bobsag team up. I am interested in some shares so who do I talk to? Diff rates are going up so we better go big or go home. I am working on a pet project that might be a help to us, might not too so I am still working out the details before I open my mouth here.

So SaVoBob get in touch and we can talk.

I AM GOOD   for lots and lots of spare parts.

The wife will kill me if I host. In house I am going to stick with sticks.

In fact I just sold 3 blades at cost on ebay as the wife said no go.

i will run about 100 sticks and maybe 2 jallys as mining is very addicting.

Ahh the pesky wives are getting all you developers.. well I dev single but I'm only 27.... still no plans to change this... off topic.

I know bobsag3 is very serious about hosting.  As I am just as serious about making sure nothing happens to his location / backup locations.  He would probably need spare parts on need by need basis.  Who knows what the future holds for our miners but they are the communities babies and will be well taken care of.  I know for a fact I will take pictures and start a thread from the Missouri host location so everybody can drool over their investment.

Plus I can play a good host if anyone would like to personally visit the miners.  My location used to facilitate a hospital in the 1920's.  It is quite large with plenty of spare rooms for long distance travelers.

Sheriff is personal friends and lives across the street from my family.  I have coded open source with MisterHouse home automation for a small business in Missouri in the past as well as GV licensed API so the IP cameras will always be rolling.

I have also been talking to SebastianJu from the Avalon group buys.  That whole mess has left a lot of people weary and tired I think but he always does good work and could hold funds for people and make orders.  Of course he does not know the OP so he can not guarantee any safety on what happens after the purchase is made.

Ultibit seems to putting together a coherent group buy collective for the lowest possible rates for fastest hash.

Good news! Bitfury chips are shipping on time for small EU buyers!

I agree itod, I think these group buys are a great idea.  Thanks for the link to burnin's new project.  Grin

Combine the fact that these companies have put a face and reputation on the line with refund policies and you already have a better deal than Avalon.

Also these beasts will be hosted open source by people like myself and bobsag3 and ur0pl and the list goes on... to help keep the network hash out of one big location like professional hosting.
130  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Group buy] Avalon chips Escrow John K / BG EU 2 batch CLOSED + K16 from 40 EUR on: August 31, 2013, 01:31:54 AM
Marto, i am fear that our batch 2 will be refunded if other group choose to refund
Let's wait and see where is this going ...
For now I'm puting an order for the first batch of PCB's
Most of the components are already paid and reserved.
@the moment there is too much heat around here

Thanks for the update marto74... I am with your decision either way.
131  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Group Buy] Cointerra 2TH/s Miner on: August 31, 2013, 01:25:28 AM

2.  Bitcoin hardware consumers appear to be tired of hardware vendors who take "pre-orders" and months if not years to deliver on their promises.

This is a group buy for a pre-order so it is impossible to say that Cointerra will deliver. I know I am still waiting for avalons and do not think we will be waiting on Cointerra anyway.

Would you be interested in merging your group buy with bobsag3 group buy?

I could also organize a group buy for Cointerra ASICs if you guys are interested.  I am a bit of dev working on K16s and wouldn't mind donating some time to getting some reels of Cointerras out.  I will consider this.
132  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [OPEN] [GROUP BUY] Hashfast Babyjet 1.2 btc = 2.5% / ~12.5gh/s (overclock speed) on: August 31, 2013, 01:11:39 AM
I also note that these units appear to be in addition to the 550 already sold. That means at least 220Thash will be online before this order will be reviewed and mining. That is in baby jets alone.

Anyone know how many extra units were released for sale.

I think you are wrong about this, but I'm not sure. My understanding is that 1st batch is not already sold, site says:
https://hashfast.com/shop/babyjet/
Quote
39 left in batch

So, 511 sold, 39 left if I understand correctly. I would not be interested in group buy headed to end October/November if there is no buyer protection, so getting in 1st batch is a priority. Things should be moving fast if there are enough people serious about this.

HashFast also states:
Quote
Please note: We will soon be moving away from the MtGox Weighted Average Exchange rate for the direct bitcoin transfer payment option.
Another reason to do this over the weekend or it may be late. I'm still not sure if I'm in or not, but it seems to me there are not enough people interested.

Hashfast didn't receive wire transfers from some orders so they released the 40 or so jets that never confirmed purchase.  I would agree that merging GB is a great option.
133  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Group Buy] Avalon ASIC Chips (SebastianJu) Batch 6 ordered (Closed) on: August 30, 2013, 10:32:28 PM
I know now that marto74 is full of small open source devs that don't really want a refund but would rather keep their small amount of chips to play with.  I have a small buy in his order... probably batch 6 I think.

Moving on to more legit companies like Hashfast and Cointerra that give real names and address to their employees.  I am hosting babyjets and terrahashs for group buy in shares on them.

Buy some shares with your Yufi refund.. or hope to like me.

Regards

Edit...

I do not speak on behalf of the marto74 group buy... there is not much convo in there but I do not know their opinion.
134  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [OPEN] - GROUP BUY of BITFURY Chips + DRILLBIT SYSTEM mining assembly on: August 30, 2013, 10:01:07 PM
Hey man thanks for the nice words.  And I also appreciate your open source clarity on the programmers and code.

Good choice on the ceramic.. looks like you have all the size choices you could need for the 8 chip.

If I may present a question.  What does everyone here think about the Babyjet and the Cointerra TerraMiners 28nm that are supposed to be coming online the same time as these older gen 55nm bitfury chips are supposed to ship.

If i cared about ROI i'd be like ohh snap!

If I only cared about open source and the fact bitcoin will be worth more than your child's life in ten years i'd be like pssh..

Regards!
135  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [OPEN] HashFast Group Buy #1 1.3BTC/10GH | Cointerra 3.1BTC/50Ghash on: August 30, 2013, 09:56:04 PM
Greetings bobsag3 Group Buyers.

I can confirm that I will be living approximately two hours away from bobsag3 and have offered him my full assistance in helping to secure the miners.  I will be offering hosting in my location as well.  I won't start a group buy yet as I am waiting to see if this group buy will be successful.

All of my Identification information is stored by DyslexicZombei and SebastianJu (He is not an escrow here but I have contacted him to see if he is willing to offer his dedicated time... he is not at this moment due to Avalon... and reasonably so).  I will provide all information to John K. as well as investors of miners stored at my facility.  You have full confidence that any shares of your BTC, are explicitly yours, and can come check up on your partially bought machine in person if you'd like.  I like people.

I believe there will be a demand for these shares as people see the way new ASIC developers operate their business as opposed to how Avalon ran their's.  Having two hosting locations within two hours from each other also adds a level of security.  More than one person in the community will be keeping an eye on your investment.

I will operate my hosting location under the same rates as bobsag3 or lower if my kWh is lower than his for some reason.  We are currently conversing on the most cost effective and secure ways to run a large amount of the network hash.

I will also be promptly taking my Yufi refund and putting it into bobsag3 group buys... thank you very much.

Regards,

Vox
136  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [CLOSED / GROUP BUY] HASHFAST(BATCH1) 1.55 BTC for 10GH, JOHN K. ESCROW, MAHALO! on: August 30, 2013, 04:41:19 AM
your are correct that ups with battery would only work for about 4-6 hours for one unit.  So in a long blackout (think hurricane sandy)  we could be down a week.

I lost power in NJ on and off a total of 3 out of 17 days after sandy and I was lucky compared to many.  One thing I always had was the net. But next big storm who knows.  with amateur hosting two or  3rigs could be moved to a backup (hoster) in a big storm power outage.

And I would be hosting from an area in Missouri with about 12 kWh.  Micro-storms are very frequent there but power is rarely lost.  And if it is, never more than a few hours.  With amateur hosting i could help complete a network by being "centrally located" in the US.  We would have to see where everyone else is located to start building a network.  I'll put my nikes on to go rescue a rig without power somewhere.
Missouri?
Same here.. But i get a chunk cheaper. Would love to get some local help tho.
My current plan Is I have 2 separate places of residence with separate power, but a connected network with 2 ISP's. Then if space/demand requires I can get a place down town with more space and cooling. All else fails, I have a 3rd location in STL that I can use to host up to ~150A worth and have everything back up and running in under 4 hours. [All assuming I can drive]

That is awesome news!

Here is my situation.  I am currently in LA but I am returning to the STL suburbs to live with my Dad and work on mathematics at a University in STL.  I will be commuting in and out of the city every day to study / tutor and would love to help you.  I will be leaving LA in about a week or so.  Feel free to PM me for contact info man!

You also see this... maybe longevity is not the most important aspect of an ASIC miner.

You can pretty much disregard that PM I just sent you DyslexicZombei since this post says what I needed to hear.

I am more than willing to team up with Sam and bobsag3 to offer my math/cs background to their group buy.  If I ever get my BTC back from Yufi I would like to buy some shares too..

/facepalm but i like science and communities so meh.

All of you are more than welcome to PM me for further contact information.

Currently 35 units left for Group Buys.

My vote is to Amateur... duh.. open source community has each others backs with all of our previously failed hardware from the planned Avalon builds! I have a few K16's a K1 and a sample Avalon ASIC.. Some solder paste and stencils and small tweezers if anyone needs anything  Wink

I have not invested any BTC in these buys yet so trusting me is a problem.  I am not willing to disclose my location in public here only for the safety of the rig.  Everyone that has payed any money on the rig is more than welcome to meet me in  person if possible... skype.. phone call.. text.. email.. US mail.. courier pigeon?

I am considering offering my services as well.  I want the limit of 1/n as n approaches infinity in profit.  I am a math grad student and I would love to just be close to this technology and maintain it with utmost professionalism.... live in a low kWh area in the sates and what not.  This is a lot of work to do my part for securing the network while I study this semester, but I don't have any other plans and would be honored to serve.

Think I should start a group buy for one to host?

I would think if all the hosts talked and helped each other out we could help secure you guys in the mining race... as long as Hashfast is operating at the inverse of Avalon.
