121  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [9 TH] Bitparking Pool, DGM 0%,vardiff,stratum,Merge Mining on: February 04, 2014, 12:51:37 PM
This block is starting to get to the point of insanity. I live being able to merge mine here but not like this. This ends up costing me money.

Nah it adds up

It does, but it requires you to overcome a lot of learned fallacies like those about statistics and luck. I can multiply my accumulated shares for this round by BTCGuild PPS and see more than three times the earnings as the DGM estimate says I will get for this round. I would have those earnings now instead of still waiting for a payout. On the surface that's pretty damning, but the only way I'll actually not receive those earnings-over-time is to leave now and miss the shorter rounds that will eventually follow this one.

Eligius had an unlucky block with 16,569,351,184 shares last week. Here's to hoping our glass is at least half full.
123  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: {BFL} TigerDirect is making a BIG MISTAKE partnering up with Butterfly Labs! on: January 31, 2014, 10:10:58 PM
TigerDirect will sell these at retail for at least few weeks to catch suckers. Then they will put them on clearance to rid themselves of the rest of the inventory. It's a lot easier for BFL use TigerDirect to liquidate its remaining 65nm inventory than for BFL to do so. TigerDirect sells older/refurb hardware all the time, so they are used to discouraging returns from happening, etc etc. I'm sure this deal is negotiated significantly in TigerDirect's favor. No one should feel bad for them.

Thanks for being so professional guys. The effort keeping everyone updated is appreciated.

Agree, please keep it up. We're all in a bad spot together.

smooth has a very valid point from my small point of view, however I believe that everyone understands and appreciates the predicament you are in. So long as you continue to look out for the interests of people who want out in addition to the people who will stay in I think we can hold this together. Let's not have a run on the bank situation here as it will end badly for everyone except BA, who has both our money and the means to produce our hardware eventually, and who, as far as I can tell, are the only ones who did not act in full faith.

One thing that always bothered me about the BFL debacle was that they would not easily let people with pre-orders out of their purchases. It's obvious that there was still tremendous demand for their products by the hugely inflated eBay prices once they did start shipping. Letting people have refunds moves later orders up in the queue, provides direct retail (often cheaper) access for people who missed out on pre-ordering, and creates less of an aftermarket environment in which scams flourish. With that in mind I would hope that you can negotiate with BA a partial refund to accommodate members like smooth who may want a refund instead of waiting. Good luck on your trip!

Could be worse.  Your 24 hour earnings is just low.  Mine is negative.

You should mine at multiple pools to reduce your variance Wink

Funniest thing I've read all day on here, and I just got finished reading that hilarious comment in the Eligius thread calling you a troll!
127  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Black Arrow 28nm 100Ghash Bitcoin ASIC from $1.99/GH/s, miners from $2.97/GH/s on: January 30, 2014, 09:52:15 PM
You know... we could all make the same BTC we are now if we all agreed to not participate in the arms race. I guess the smart folks will just skip all the upgrade cycles and pick back up in a couple of years.

If you managed to get every single miner in a room together they would probably all agree to this. Then on their way out they would furiously be trying to order and pre-order everything they could on their smartphone. HA! An opportunity to finally increase my position!

People are just too naturally greedy for that to work. But I do like it. You go first. Smiley

HODL MNIE

All right, bitpop, you broke it loose last time with this comment. How about another? Smiley
129  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [4300 TH] BTC Guild - Pays TxFees+Orphan+NMC, Stratum, Private Servers on: January 30, 2014, 04:18:45 PM
I used two antminer getting ave 390mh/s..getting 0.1 to 0.09 BTC per day..

When?

My 23Ghs was getting .005 and is now down to about .0033 BTC.  So are you talking about recently or several Difficulty changes ago?

Pretty sure he meant GHs not MHs.

The WPC members are bit saddened by this news we were really looking forward to some Minion chips to play with and really push our board design in Feb/Mar. I do think 25% is not nearly enough of an incentive to loyal first batch buyers. That really has to looked at again by Black Arrow.

Yes, if they don't have enough hardware to do cloud mining, then a refund of a percentage of BTC spent for the items would be preferable. Another possibility I'd like to see: Take all their existing bitfury equipment off the shelf and put it into a pool for us, proportionately to our investment, starting hashing right now. This in addition to any compensation they already have agreed to or are considering.

Stop pre-ordering!  Break your addiction cycle.

Will never happen. People, collectively, will "waste" computing resources regardless. For example: http://www.distributed.net/RC5. Yes, I spent countless CPU years on that as did thousands of other people. All crypto currency is is just an extension of that which makes it possible, although not always probable, to break even on the cost of the hardware. See also SETI@home, Prime95, Folding@home, and dozens of other similar projects. You can't ignore the addiction factor, and no amount of convincing people of negative ROI will help.

If we are delayed, it will make me happier knowing that DZ was not officially made aware of this delay prior to the announcement. I suspect they are probably a little upset as well considering the preparations they were making with getting the hosting facility ready for these.
133  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Black Arrow LTD: Order #XXX Prospero X-1 and Prospero X-3 delivery delays on: January 30, 2014, 03:15:43 PM
It was pretty obvious they weren't gonna make February without a tape-out.

$3/GH is what other manufacturers pegged for April/May also.

I agree. What I really wonder is if the resellers were also aware of this. I, for one, wouldn't have wanted to be a part of that mess knowing that information. Of course I still bought in, obviously, and also with a reseller. I have not heard anything from the reseller yet (also Batch 1) on the delay, so I am thinking that BA did not even bother to inform its resellers. Ah well, just like my first BFL purchase it is time to consider this a sunk cost and go about my business. When they arrive I'll be pleasantly surprised and happy with any return I can get.

Mainly I'm interested in replacing a blade setup before summer comes and I have to deal with the heat.
134  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [4300 TH] BTC Guild - Pays TxFees+Orphan+NMC, Stratum, Private Servers on: January 30, 2014, 03:06:13 PM
what am I doing wrong? or is this normal?

I used two antminer getting ave 390mh/s..getting 0.1 to 0.09 BTC per day..

I added extra two, avg is 750mh/s..now it shows 0.06 24hr earning..why is smaller earning after I added 2 more rigs?

If you are looking at your 24 hour earnings you should be aware that is subject to variance/luck of the pool, assuming you are mining PPLNS. It will go up and down even with a steady hash rate and an unchanged difficulty. The best thing to do is to use a mining calculator to figure out what you should be making. If you compare that with your daily earnings over enough time it will all make sense.
135  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [4300 TH] BTC Guild - Pays TxFees+Orphan+NMC, Stratum, Private Servers on: January 30, 2014, 03:02:01 PM
Hey, erickisback, yes, from mining with identical hash rate on a 4 different pools for 6 weeks straight, BTC Guild returns significantly more BTC even considering its fee. The other 3 pools I used claim to have 0% fees. When I get some time I'll put it all together in a post. There are several ways that information could be interpreted, and luck/variance over a 6 week period is one of them, though I have my doubts about that. I have no doubt of the honesty of this pool or the quality of its payout method implementation.
136  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Black Arrow - Status of pending orders - Prospero X-1, X-3, and Minion on: January 30, 2014, 11:29:46 AM
Looks like Batch 1 is delayed till May now. :|

There goes any chance of ROI via pooled mining. What do you guys think the chance will be to solo mine and nab at least one block in May? Considering Cointerra is shipping, difficulty may be greater than previous predictions no?

Zero. You will need around 100th to get a single block per month

Well, it is better than zero to find a block solo mining with less. Otherwise pools wouldn't pay anything for your contribution. The easiest rule of thumb is: How long would it take to earn 25BTC while pool mining? That is approximately how long it would take to find a block solo at neutral luck.

Done. Come on people only 102 more to go and i can get the order in.

I'll reserve 2.
138  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Blackarrow's website is not open.. In this regard, the information is there? on: January 30, 2014, 03:54:01 AM
Considering that the difficulty will increase between March and May by over 25%, this is not something to cheer over, although it is certainly more than I expected.
139  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Black Arrow LTD: Order #XXX Prospero X-1 and Prospero X-3 delivery delays on: January 30, 2014, 03:32:57 AM
Email Follows:

We have to inform you that our schedule to manufacture and assemble the system has been disrupted and we are unable to make delivery of the Batch 1 Minion ASIC chip on the initial scheduled date (end of February). We are now expecting to dispatch all Batch 1 orders on 1st of May 2014.

Please be re-assured we are confident that we have tried our best to accomplish our initial ambitious targets. However, we came to the conclusion that it is in the best interest of our customers to delay shipping in order to ensure that the product provides the best-possible user experience.

Without this delay we would have achieved 1.5W/Ghash which would have meant that our chip would not have been competitive at all.

We have now finalized the design process using our newly improved code and will start manufacturing the chip (tape out) in the next few days.

We are happy to announce that Black Arrow Software’s products remain on target for being the best in their class for power consumption. We confirm that our latest improved design has the following technical specifications:

·0.75w/Ghash on TT corner @ 25C which is expected to run at 120Ghash/sec.

·SS corner will be 0.6w/ghash and will run at 100Ghash.

·A further underclocking and underpower should be possible and should yield 80Ghash @ 0.5W/ghash. However, please note that this is not guaranteed to work stable.

Please note, that a further push for improvement in the optimization process would have guaranteed further delays for at least 1-2 months.

It is no secret to us that the Bitcoin mining process is proving to be more and more difficult every day. To compensate our loyal customer for the unforeseen delay of in delivering our miners for batch 1, we are happy to offer free extra hashing power which consists of 25% of your purchased hashing power from our Rent-Some-Minions cloud program for 4 months.

The account for the tape-out has been settled in full and we are confident that the delivery will be completed shortly.

We are taking all the necessary measures and positive actions to expedite delivery to you as soon possible and we are confident that we have the resources to be successful.

Please note:

·We estimate that the delivery for the Batch1 will coincide with the delivery of the Batch2

·The delivery of Batch2 remains unchanged

·The one-off offer presented above is open to the customers who placed orders for Batch1

Sincerely,

The Black Arrow Software Team
