121  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: July 15, 2014, 03:51:40 PM
Guys, I just copied my ORDER ID from BITMAIN website to UPS -> TRACK BY REFERENCE and it worked!

S3 were shippied earlier today and will arrive to my house at Monday

Package, Freight or Mail Innovations? Did you fill in the destination country and zip code?
122  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: July 15, 2014, 03:43:57 PM
What do you need for registering in my ups my choice?  And where is the tracking number on the order ?

You need an eligible address. Turns out my address is eligible. I just checked. It allows you to see shipments en route to your address. I can see my Amazon packages but not anything from China so far.

I was one of the first ones to purchase as well.

I just downloaded the UPS Mobile app. Apparently I'll get a notification once a shipment is processed for my address.
123  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: July 15, 2014, 03:33:13 PM
Can you guys elaborate? Did you get a shipping email? Did you see at tracking number on the website?

EDIT: Just checked my UPS MyChoice. I cannot see the shipment, I can see my Amazon shipments without a problem, though. I am guessing mine isn't shipped yet despite me being one of the first ones to purchase.
124  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: July 15, 2014, 02:53:23 PM
shipping has started!!!

How do you know?
125  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: July 15, 2014, 05:32:15 AM
So "waldohoover" (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=101143) of coiningsolutions.com is refusing to give out the 7.7% refund on my order of 4 S3's, but lucky me I can have coupons, as long as I buy more from coiningsolutions.com of course.  Roll Eyes

Here's what I got back in PM when I asked for a refund as per Bitmain's instructions....a warning to anyone thinking of purchasing through coiningsolotions.com!  Angry

Hi WH,

Just checking you got my PM? Let me know if you need me to do anything else to process the 7.7% refund.

Thanks!

Kebabman

Hi Kebabman,

We have decided our batch order is going to be in the form of Coupons and not a refund. You are entitled to redeem your coupon if you decide to purchase future miners through us.

Thank you,
WH

Hi WH,

But bitmain said we could choose a coupon or a refund?  Undecided

Thanks,

Kebabman

Hey Kebabman,

Correct, but I am not Bitmain. I'm working as an independent reseller and since I cannot choose per order and only on batch orders, coupons make more sense on paper. Sorry for the inconvenience, to avoid any mixups in the future you can always order directly through Bitmain.

WH

I understand why you might be frustrated but I think they actually have a point. They do bulk orders and Bitmain doesn't allow you to pick one coupon, rest in BTC.
126  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: July 15, 2014, 12:47:09 AM
Do we know how the refund process works? Will the application for a partial refund default to the address we sent the initial BTC from?
127  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Monero (MRO) Speculation thread on: July 14, 2014, 11:42:51 PM
I'm speculating that Monero is bullshit and will go to .00000001 based on the quality of the "community" involved.

Whenever a new coin has a pack of rabid, flame-retardant fanboys foaming at the mouth over it in trollboxes and forums worldwide, it gives me pause. Most of the time these people don't even know they are brainwashed and pumping on behalf of a larger, more powerful entity who will soon hang them out to dry.

I've watched this play out least ten times in the last 2 months, and nobody learns a thing. Different coin, same mind control techniques, same pump and dump. The only thing that ever changes is the name of the coin.

This is irrelevant. What matters in the long run is if the technology efficiently covers a necessity. Privacy is a big, big necessity these days. If the MRO devs keep it solid and the hard work goes on and it turns out a solid product that addresses all of the privacy problems within monetary transactions (what BTC originally intended by failed to do so), do the math. This is how real value is created, nothing of this hyped out pumps shit. Just give it time.

Turns out the only thing Monero actually did was destroy value and it actually _was_ one of the "hyped out pumps shit(s)."

Monero won't make it. The name is too silly and the coin is too unoriginal.

Srsly?

You know someone is disturbed when they are angry at a cryptocurrency. This guy sounds like he actually has a personal vendetta with Monero.
128  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: July 14, 2014, 06:42:46 PM
Not to be OT..

But didanyone else recieve an email from "cs@bitmaintech.com" containing a .jar ?

"

"

Nope, it is likely to be phishing.
129  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Announcement: Bitmain launches AntMiner solution, 0.68 J/GH on chip on: July 14, 2014, 05:46:14 PM
If you're dead set on getting an S3 (batch 1 even), we have 6 remaining on Amazon - but they're more expensive than purchasing direct with bitcoin (whenever batch 4 opens). Based on the last couple of days, I don't expect them to last through tomorrow.

Thanks, but I already have 2 coming from Batch 1 and 2 coming from Batch 2. Just was trying to get 2 more. I can wait for the next batch.  Grin

Do you mean that batch 1 has already started to get shipped?

My understanding is that Batch 1 ships today. I sure hope it does.

It is 1:45AM July 15th in China right now. July 14th has passed for them.
130  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: July 14, 2014, 05:31:00 PM
Anyone got their S3 shipped today?

Nope, not as far as I know.

My order create time is 2014-06-30 14:32:01.0, and still unshipped.
131  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: July 14, 2014, 03:20:43 PM
Sadly it seems like the 17th and the 20th are the next two dates we will be waiting for. No communication from Bitmain to clear the confusion. I hope it all works out okay.
132  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: July 14, 2014, 02:48:57 PM
Doing the math on the compensation offer...

Assume you bought 2 S3s from Batch 1  .75 BTC x 2 = 1.5 BTC

A refund of 7.7% = .1155 BTC

A coupon for 10% off of your next purchase of 2 miners at the current purchase price of .725 BTC each = (.725 * 2)(.1)= .145 BTC

Net difference is .145 - .1155 = .0295 BTC, or about $18.29.

That's only getting a $9 per miner bonus on a future order, not knowing at this point how future batches will hash.

Perhaps the 10% off coupon will apply to an unlimited number of miners on your future order, in which case the coupon will be of greater value.  Or maybe it won't have an expiration and you could use it when it becomes of maximum value.  But to me, it seems like money in hand is the better option.

Money in hand is the smarter option, but I'm such a sucker for coupons. It was such a brilliant move on Bitmains part, though.

but wasnt it a 10% coupon of the total amount you payed for batch 1,2 or 3?

That's what dulac97 said. I don't see how it doesn't add up.
133  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: July 14, 2014, 02:31:04 PM
I was one of the first ones to order and still unshipped. Not very worried, though. I just hope they shipped already.
134  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: July 14, 2014, 06:46:19 AM
In the morning DHL delivered me three Antminer S3-s, I was in the batch 1 ordered the very first moment.
I ordered for two but in the packet there where three S3s.Maybe a bonus from BitMainTech or an accident?
Anyhow, there were no customs duty for me. I don't know why. DHL simply dropped in my place.
As they advertised, there should have a cover for the miner for air flow control, But in my three S3-s the cover was missing.
Also, one of them was little dirty and the fans came with dirt. The other two were brand new. The dirty one may be the S3 they used first for testing.
After all, the dimension of S3 is smaller than S1 and the body is build with plastic instead of metal. It weighs less than 500gms.
Its working hard on my desk, silently, there is no vibration due to the additional 4 rubber standoffs attached in the base
otherwise, due to low weight the noise of S3 vibrating on my desk may not be bearable.
Its hashing fine at 478/366. Overall a very good deal.

Todays was a pleasant morning, I was happy when I woke up, I got a good deal from BitMain, all credits to them.
Suddenly, I realised that, my pre-orders are still waiting for BitMainTech to ship. The hard think I realised, all the above was a dream.
So, much fun!

You are a terrible terrible human being. Smiley
135  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: July 14, 2014, 06:13:11 AM
Hello everyone,

When we were doing the first mass production, we found that not all of the S3’s DC/DC module could be stable enough to support the 478GH/s speed. After long time testing, all of the S3 run stably at 441GH/s, which however is 7.7% less than the 478GH/s we have announced.

So we decide the final specification of ANTMINER S3 here:

Hash Rate: 441 GH/s or more
Power Consumption: about 340 Watt at the wall when running at 441GH/s
Power Efficiency: 0.77 J/GH on wall
Power Supply: 12V DC
Size:  331 mm x 137 mm x 160 mm
Fans: Two 14038 fans mounted on both front and back ends.
Operating Temperature: 0 °C to 35 °C
Complied with: FCC / CE
Network Connection: Ethernet

Many of the customers may be lucky to find that their S3 can be overclocked to 478GH/s.

We apologize for this incident. We offer two options for customers:

1)   10.0% worth of coupon for the B1~B3 customers. This is the default option.
2)   7.7% worth of refund. We will release a function on our official website for application of this option. If you have bought from our resellers, please contact them and provide your Bitcoin address.

Shipping schedule updated:

Batch 1: The shipping will be finished in 14th and 17th.
Batch 2: It will be shipping out between 18th and 19th.
Batch 3: It will be shipping out between 19th and 22nd.

I am actually okay with this. However, I wish this news was accompanied with all of B1 being shipped on the 14th.

Would you mind clarifying what you mean by "Batch 1: The shipping will be finished in 14th and 17th"? Does it mean that you'll ship B1 in two different batches or that shipping will start today and end on the 17th?
136  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: July 13, 2014, 10:14:57 PM
I am one of the first ones to buy on Batch 1. I'll let you guys know when it ships for me.
137  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: July 11, 2014, 03:20:59 AM
And surprise surprise, they are not shipped yet!
They stated earlier it would be the 14th.  Let's not freak out yet, this is BITMAIN we're talking about.

Actually, it's my bad. I thought today was the 14th when I wrote that message. Smiley

139  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: July 09, 2014, 05:44:53 PM
Thanks windpath. I'll give them a try once my Batch1 order arrives.

I hope they'll start shipping today or tomorrow.

I thought that Bitmain commented that they will start shipping on 14th.

They said:
Quote
The bulk PCB will be arriving tonight, and we will start first batch production tomorrow. First batch usually takes a longer time than later. We may ship the S3 -B1 on or before 14th.

Which doesn't particularly sound assuring.
