121  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ryan Kennedy aka Moolah scammer can be met in London tomorrow on: November 29, 2014, 03:20:38 PM
No need to kill him. Just amputate his arms and legs, rip off his tongue and gouge his eyes out. Roll Eyes

The reddit page says something about him attending court today and I doubt he will show up anyway. Is there anyone here attending the court hearing today?
122  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Hmm access Ripple wallet on: November 29, 2014, 03:08:54 PM
Is this the url where we can access our old client wallets after 15 December?

https://payroutes.com/#/login
123  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Hmm access Ripple wallet on: November 29, 2014, 11:22:45 AM
Ripple labs is phasing out support for the old client. You can still use it through this url until 15 December.

https://ripple.com/client/#/login

After that the old client will not work and you have to migrate your old client to the new client through this link.

https://rippletrade.com/#/migrate

I used my old client last night and it was still working OK.
124  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Did you invest in Ripple? on: November 29, 2014, 02:30:33 AM
Simply took advantage of the free promotional giveaway when it came out. 35000 XRP free gratis and for nothing. So, technically, I'm not "invested" but I like what I see so far, and the more I read about XRP's utility, the more I like it. It is not in competition with BTC. Please don't feel threatened guys.

Can you post a link to the 35000 XRP giveaway? It was before my time and I would like a look at the thread.
125  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Vertcoin Future on: November 28, 2014, 08:30:54 PM
Hey,

What are your views on vertcoins? do you think it will surpass litecoins? Is it a good investment?

isn't vertcoins already dead? i think vertcoins need to change and adopting to new algo to survive. n-script consumed to much heat and low hash, why not "fresh" algo. or something similar?

vertcoin is dead since the time it was born.

No, it was briefly worth 0.0067 bitcoins.

126  Economy / Speculation / Re: Breakout by Week of 12-28 on: November 28, 2014, 07:29:22 PM
No, no... the price will only go down because the people who use this s--- are delusional f---tards who are ignorant, rude assholes to anybody new. Toss in the fact that it is monopoly money and a pump and dump penny stock and you all are seriously fucked.

Have you never used bitcoin?
127  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Did you invest in Ripple? on: November 28, 2014, 07:15:23 PM
Do you mean invest in ripple labs or buy XRP? I guess a lot more people brought XRP than invested in ripple labs.
128  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ryan Kennedy aka Moolah scammer can be met in London tomorrow on: November 28, 2014, 05:55:15 PM
It's a shame that he isn't also sued for what he did with Mintpal.

How he managed to "lose" so many BTC in the one week during which he had control of the exchange is beyond me.
at that point it is up to those who lost their btc to do something
Does the class action exists in the UK ?

Wikipedia says yes (sort of), but it's only been used twice in the last ten years.

The Civil Procedure Rules of the courts of England and Wales came into force in 1999 and have provided for representative actions in limited circumstances (under Part 19.6 [54]). These have not been much used, with only two reported cases at the court of first instance in the first ten years after the Civil Procedure Rules took effect.

I think you can already do that here.

Bitfinex might also offer litecoin leverage.

130  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why is Hobonickel Coin (HBN) crashing? on: November 27, 2014, 10:15:50 PM
Perhaps the website going down was the last straw for other holders. The dev says someone else ran it and he is taking over. He really should have arranged a smooth change over because it creates a bad impression when it goes offline.

It seems the Hobonickels.info site is down:

This Domain Name Has Expired - Renewal Instructions.

I'd be happy to contribute if that's what it takes to get it back up again. Among other things I particularly like too examine the charts now and then

Thanks. I am actually in the process of taking it over. PressTab had run it in the past, but I will be going forward. It maybe down for a bit while everything gets changed over.
131  Economy / Speculation / Re: offering swaps on Chinese exchanges? on: November 27, 2014, 10:10:19 PM
yeah that's a strange scheme. Why are they doing this though? Just encouraging people keeping BTC on their site?

I suppose so, I found out about it because I kept getting little pop ups telling me cryptsy has sent me a tiny fraction of a bitcoin.
132  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: OMG Dogecoin up 88286715% ! on: November 27, 2014, 09:16:15 PM
I have seen this trick pulled a number of times. All you have to do is buy 0.01 doge coin at a stupendously high rate like one doge = 1 bitcoin. Coinmarketcap goes on the last trade, so doge appears at the top of its list until someone makes another trade for a reasonable price.
133  Economy / Speculation / Re: offering swaps on Chinese exchanges? on: November 27, 2014, 08:54:14 PM

I tried offering BTC swaps at Bitfinex, and I have no complaints apart from that
the interest rate has become too low.
Right now it is 0.0055% daily, which, in my opinion, is completely useless.

That's really low, even Cryptsy pays you a tiny amount for any of your bitcoins on the exchange. There's some complicated way of working out how much that's explained in the post below. From the example given it sounds like Cryptsy's rebate rate is about half of Bitfinex's interest rate.

Code:
What Are Balance Rebates?

Balance rebates are basically a cut of our collected transaction fees for users who hold balances in certain currencies on our exchange. Currently the currencies we collect fees on are BTC, LTC, and USD. Users who have a balance in these currencies will be included in the pool of users who get a daily rebate in the same currency.
How Much Will I Earn in Balance Rebates?

We pay a 2% rebate. Balance calculations include available and held for order balances.  So even if all your funds are held for open orders, they are included in the calculation.

So for example: We collect 10 BTC in trade fees in a day. This leaves 0.2 BTC available for rebates (2%). If you had 100 BTC on account and between all users the sum of all balances was 10,000 BTC, then you would receive 1% of the total rebate for that day. In this case that would be a 0.002 BTC daily rebate. Balances and rebates are calculated and distributed separately for each of the BTC, LTC, and USD currencies.
When Do I Get Paid My Cryptsy Points and Balance Rebates?

The program which calculates payouts and makes disbursements runs after midnight EST every day. Usually around 2am EST.

134  Economy / Speculation / Re: I am very disturbed when prices are always up and down on: November 27, 2014, 06:41:57 PM
well.. btc moving really slowly now cos what happens today and probably tomorrow will decide whether we go below 350 or not. Personally I think we are going sub 300..

a drop in price might be a good thing for miners. difficulty charts are showing a kind of unsureness in miners commitments, it's neither up nor down if you study it closely. we could be looking at a nice drop in difficulty if the price does drop to $300. I don't mind either way to be honest, but it's interesting times you must admit.

Not if you factor in your electricity charges, you might suddenly end up paying more bills then what you get..

That is.. if the only reason to mine is to sell the BTC as you mine it.
I shouldn't go into the discussion on electric costs as I am more fortunate than most, but factoring in electric costs is indeed part of the prospecting of the currency.

look at it this way: BTC is 25 coins per block (phase 2)... before too long, that block reward is going to halve. Currently, it's the age of the corporate miner and because of this, prices are going to be suppressed until mining returns back to the enthusiast. I do this because i'm an enthusiast and a hobbyist, I don't do it to make a monthly income. I'd urge that others think similarly - if you are mining with the most efficient h/w then you should still have some BTC left over after the electric costs are covered. Now is not a time to cash-in on every satoshi you mine, now is a time to hoard whatever you can.

I know this is a very subjective question and that thee have been numerous debates here about it. However, in your opinion what price does bitcoin have to drop to before the average hobbyist miner with the most efficient h/w is mining at a loss?
135  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Black Friday sales predictions? on: November 27, 2014, 06:04:25 PM
What day is the auction on next week? I think that might have a greater effect on the price than bitcoin black Friday.

last auction the price shot up, im expecting the same, the coins should go nicely above market value since the price has dropped since tim draper bought the first lot.

I heard Tim Draper says he will be bidding, but he might not be keen to pay above market value this time because he lost millions on the last auction. What if his previous auction experience puts off the other bidders from putting in high bids? There is a possibility the coins might go significantly below market.

I know everyone was worried about low bids winning last time and it didn't work out like that. It still doesn't stop me worrying about low bids winning this time.

137  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Stellar on: November 26, 2014, 08:32:41 PM
I've seen this thread:

Future of StellarTalk  I think the stellarTalk forum will be closed.

The StellarTalk owner also owns XRPtalk, and he's closing that in the new year too if he cannot find a buyer.
138  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Paying Doge or $ for my own altcoin. on: November 26, 2014, 08:03:03 PM
Hey guys, i love the ideas of crpyto, i have tried to make myself a coin that resembles dogecoin, i already have a logo that i made in photoshop. I will pay anybody either 5$ or however much 5$ is worth in doge at the time. (around 20k as of right now). All i want is it to be called RedCoin (RDC)and use the exact parameters of dogecoin. (I know, i know,  reddcoin already exists, i aren't going to be using this coin for public use and its only going to be a joke coin for my livestream, i got the coin name from an inside joke.) PM me for my skype or something. I dont know if this is allowed in this area, but if it isnt, a mod or someone could delete it.

There is already a coin called RedCoin, and yet another called reddcoin.

Here is RedCoin's announcement thread.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=246693.0

And here is the Cryptsy RedCoin market.

https://www.cryptsy.com/markets/view/87

RedCoin's dev will probably be pissed off about you using his coins name.
139  Economy / Speculation / Re: Losing faith on: November 26, 2014, 07:18:12 PM

Why would we ever see $500 again Huh

If that's what you think have you sold all your stash?

I'm a degenerate gambler and it was a legitimate question

I try to keep an open mind about the price. Perhaps falllling was right and the price will keep going down to nothing. Or the price might rise to $5000 because of all the other degenerate gamblers gambling money on it.
140  Economy / Speculation / Re: Am I just seeing what I want to see ... on: November 26, 2014, 06:46:25 PM

Everything on the charts could indicate a huge bullish breakout and all you need is one whale to drop in and sell 10,000 coins and knock the price back down.

There was a trader who had some massive leveraged trade on worth millions recently. The price shot up against all the odds when he started the trade. Unfortunately it went wrong and crashed the price afterwards even though TA experts expected it to go up. The trader lost millions of dollars. All it took was one whale to change everything.
