never gamble what you can't afford to lose.

there are no "sure bets" in this world, and especially in crypto. we all think that octo is great and will go2moon etc. but it's all a speculation game. it could go nowhere. everyone treats that as a reality. so i wouldn't gamble your life savings.

at the end of the day if you make a profit, it you're "up" then you're golden. think about how long it takes to make %5 on an investment in the real world. so you can't beat your self up for not going "all-in" on somethign which then turns a profit. because you could have just as easily lost it all.

my 2 cents...

With this community, the way the price has gone up with each reward block drop and the dev's being overly active I would hang on to them.  It's only a matter of time before this coin is added to Mintpal and usually that only helps the price of a coin.

You are either a believer or you aren't.  If you believed in the coin enough to accumulated 250K, I take it he isn't in for a quick 5%.  But that's just my two cents Smiley
122  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [YC] YellowCoin ★★Pure POS★★ Let's color the MOON !!!1.0.0.3 Updated on: June 24, 2014, 03:42:58 PM
I have to say the most confusing thing about Yellowcoin is how anybody thought it was a good investment. It had a 20% premine, never even had a working Mac wallet, and 10% daily POS for 10 days? Pretty sweet deal if you are the one guy with the premine I guess! This doesn't even fit the economic definition of "currency" due to all of the deck-stacking. Who the hell was buying this? I'm truly baffled.

I create a coin with a 0% premine, an awesome/hilarious theme, cutting-edge source code, and we are raising money for charity and hardly anybody is interested. This guy cranks out a piece of crap with a 20% premine and a handful of obvious lies and people start buying it like it's going out of style while he dumps his premine on you. I guess it's true: nice guys finish last. This guy made a lot of cash off this thing.
Lol, yellowcoin had a good name, murraycoin is retarded.

No offense,  but how is a random color named coin a "good name"?

i hope that zero gravity doesn't mean KGW at launch

Did you just copy and paste message #2 from over 3 months ago?  Lol why?

This is a technical mistake of the forum i think. A bit strange.  Cheesy
This happens sometimes. Not the first time i'm seeing this.  Smiley

Haha, I knew I had seen that message before, so I went hunting.  Strange it was from a different poster. Oh well Smiley

The real question is do we see 1000 today? And if we do.....will this be  the last time for triple digits??

Impressive dedication, and a refreshing lack of drama in a crypto-world seemingly filled with children and megalomaniacs

Murraycoin for the most part has been very drama free outside of a couple of trolls.  Good community with great dedicated dev team, welcome aboard!

LOL that whole ePawncoin thread is a cluster.  People want answers, dev shys away and doesn't answer question, I would stay far away from that one.

no brainer, way to many crap coins around people are getting fed up of pumps and dumps. only coins with a day to day use will survive we are hoping this is one off them, time will tell

On the surface it looks like just a way to pump the original Pawncoin.  16M pawncoins are said to be needed to fulfill IPO.  Total supply of pawncoins are less than 8M.  All I have to say is...hmm sketchy.

0.9.2 Source and Mac OS X wallet will be released this weekend. At that point, I will further explain this significant update, the rapidly approaching fork at block 130,000, and the PoW algorithm change that will happen on July 4th. Just to clear up any lingering rumors/etc... Murraycoin will not be incorporating PoS features at this time.

Some other general updates will be included in the post once everything is (finally) ready for release. Also, the paper wallet generator is complete and will be added to murraycoin.org this weekend along with the remainder of the updates. We still intend to create and sell aluminum "paper" wallets at murraycoin.org but the aforementioned paper wallet generator will be for use by the general public. We have merchandise ready to start rolling out once all of the technical aspects have been covered and we're smooth-sailing on the new fork.

It has been 5 months since launch and, despite things not happening as quickly as we'd all hoped, they're finally coming together. Appreciate the continued support and community effort. brianbbad has gone above and beyond the call of duty and deserves an individual shout-out - he really kept things interesting during this slow period. I can already feel the momentum building around Murraycoin and we're just getting started.

Don't call it a comeback, we been here for years months  Wink

Aluminum "paper" wallets sound badass!  Let's just keeping on rockin' with the Murraycoin.  So many other threads out there are 4-5 times longer than this one and if you look through them more than half of the posts are either a) posts about simple things like the wallet not working, b) people pointing out obvious scam tactics in either the pre-mine, instamine, pos formula, etc or c) people simply complaining about the price or the absent dev.  Bholzer has done a great job, tested everything, solved problems and given us hope.  In a crypto world where there is a new fad and each new coin promises the moon to get people to buy in.....Murraycoin keeps pushing forward.  How can a coin be introduced, put on an exchange and be "the next big thing" within days and weeks of it's launch?  The world just doesn't work that way.  No company opens up and is immediately a leader in it's industry.  It takes time, trust and a good product to gain momentum to step up to that level.  I feel that we have that here.

We have had our naysayers along the way.  The people looking to cash in huge and upset when they didn't.  What I say to them?  I'm glad you hopped off the train.  In an age where most all other long standing coins are losing value, MRY has held tight now for weeks.  We waited out the Cryptsy voting, we sat idle watching scam coin after scam pay their way on exchanges.  Murraycoin has stood tough.  With a new paper wallet, an aluminum wallet and a project that includes Octocoin in the works (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=504265.msg7155954#msg7155954) I am excited about the Murray future.

I am looking forward to the day when the Murraycoin price starts to rise on the exchanges and the naysayers and get-rich quick traders look over and see a long standing, tight knit community without the drama, without the gigantic pre-mine, without a scammy IPO, without 25% of the coins going to "bounties" and I hope they think....wow I should have gotten in on that when it was cheap.  I know I am not the most vocal here on the boards, but I'm feeling patriotic...or should I say...Murraytriotic this morning.  Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there.  Eat, Drink and be Murray everyone!

hey what exchanges are you guys currently on? I did the google search but couldn't find anything.

this was probably the 4th or 5th crypto I ever heard of and I wanted to buy some for a couple months now.

Is there a paper wallet out for MRY?  It could be cool if you could get some donations and load up a bunch of wallets with 50 MRY apiece on them to give out to people with explanation how to access their coins.
131  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][WOLF] Project WOLF on: June 06, 2014, 08:58:09 AM
Sadly the first game was exploited by short term holders and had to be stopped

...

That is a little insulting.  Wasn't the whole point of this game to decide on a strategy, whether short term or long, and see who could make the most profit?  (1000% myself before dropping out due to predicting the price fall)

Personally I think the main problem was changing the schedule and game rules halfway through the game.  People became discouraged and pulled out, like me.

I saw the price on Polo and came to see what has happened to WOLF.  I was around for the beginning, watched how the first Sunday went and bought in for the 2nd and 3rd Sunday's.  I loved the game.  How greedy could you get away with being?  Everyone knew for every winner there was at least 1 loser.  I staggered my coins to see what I could get away with and ended up both weeks I played.  After week 3 I dumped what WOLF I had left for a very small profit and got out.  After the game changed to be all day trading, it just wasn't the same game.

There was too much WOLF on the market while the buy back orders were the same every week.  People were interested in less and less profit and if you didn't have time to be around all day, or for my sake even awake at the trading time it just wasn't worth it to try and make a small percentage.  It took a calculated risk and it did test greediness of people, I wish there would have been limits on weekly buy orders and Insanity Sunday would have stayed the same throughout.  I think the price would have been more steady and would have been interesting to see once you actually got through the Insanity Sunday periods.  I do think there were too many changes along the way and reading up on the thread, the Dev can't disappear for large chunks of time in a project like this.

Anyways, for people still invested I hope this coin ends up doing something and you can recoup some of your losses.

And all the premine moved to bittrex for security purposes?? What does that say about the security of your online wallets, for this coin and all the others you've made them for??

This is smelling more and more like bullshit all the time..

I'm out.  I'll keep 20k in case you guys figure out how to build a wallet.

the premine is now moved to bittrex? why not kept in cold storage?

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=614921.msg7146948#msg7146948

I don't see why it has to be an exchange and why it's more secure than a cold storage wallet with an encrypted password.

134  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][NYC] New York Coin LAUNCH on: June 05, 2014, 08:24:00 PM
I second that!!.  so what is the real amount that people think that this coin will reach, that could be/will be, do people think it might make it to the mighty, $1  just asking.  or is all this talk just that talk.. and it wont get anywhere.

Profit has been saying that this coin will be worth $1 for a long time now. Apparently he has some insider info that no one else has and will give it up at the cost of 1% of your total earning with nyc through private message. At least something or other. That's what I gathered from his last post. Idk though. I do think 1 cent is do able, especially as bitcoin rises in price and people try to catch the alt coin wave once bitcoin gets out of most people's price range.

I hate to burst your bubble but this coin will never come close to sniffing $1.  I would be surprised if it ever reached 10 sat.

Any news bholzer? It's been 11 days since your last post. What's currently in the pipeline? How's the QT wallet update coming?

I know you're busy and not going anywhere, and it seems like you disappear for a bit and come with very large posts, but just a harmless suggestion, maybe if you can come in more frequently with rather smaller posts. Silence has been a horrible sign in the cryptoworld, not saying that it is in this case, just saying it would raise the spirits around here a little.

Keep on chugging as we all are!
Best

I think after almost 4 months we can trust him to put out news when he has news.  As a large Murray holder I don't think I feel the need for him to come on just to say "I'm still here guys!"  But that's just me!

Stoked for the new wallet, hope it comes out soon!
138  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: VOOT IS BIG SCAM!!! on: June 04, 2014, 03:22:36 PM
the main reason ppl are getting scam out of their btc here is the exchanges, hot listing coins like that, well in this case bittrex

I honestly think that is the problem.  Exchanges essentially take bribes to add coins that are less than a few days old to get it added.  IMO a coin shouldn't even be allowed to be publicly traded until 30 days after it has been released.
139  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] DISTROCOIN X11 / iPHONE APP SOON / DEBIT CARDS SIGNUP / WHITEPAPER on: June 04, 2014, 02:32:01 PM
every time distro goes over 1k same FUD ppl come and starts whining about something and the price goes down to 600-700, PPL PLEASE STOP FEEDING THEM THEY MAKE BIG MONEY ON YOU BEACUSE U DONT HAVE BALLS AND HOLD.

i can guarantee you its same asshole all the time he has like 10 accounts and makes big bucks on buying at 700 and selling at 1k all the time.

the premine is 2% of 100 000 000= 2 000 000 in cold storage if you dont like it MOVE ON, GET LOST, GO FUCK YOURSELF!

find other coin to create fud about this is the next big thing so mutch develope in such short time. try finding another coin with so mutch progress or wait i save u some time THERE IS NONE!

Nice calculation bullish monkey.

If we take 2 % of TOTAL COIN 100M. It's 2 M.

But right after POW:

2M of 12.5 M POW coins, will be 16 % PREMINE

This 16 % will also be staking!!
First of all stop this fucking FUD to get cheap coins and to save some bitcoins

Second the premine is 1.3after the devs PAID BOUNTIES and the premine is on COLD STORAGE so it CAN'T be STAKING

it's no FUD just facts, wow bounties lol, must be some shitload on bounties then.

Great cold storage! have to take your word for it I guess

Cold storage on bittrex I pressume ? lol

6.5% of all POW coins given away on bounties. LOL, give me a break.  Unless you show me the block explorer with 800K+ coins coming out of that dev's pre-mine account, I won't believe that one bit.
140  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] DISTROCOIN X11 / iPHONE APP SOON / DEBIT CARDS SIGNUP / WHITEPAPER on: June 03, 2014, 08:40:02 PM
There is a clear link between nexus, raxe.io and William Giles. It is public record and not FUD. I have been mining since almost day one so I relay want the coin to succeed. I just don't see a lot of money being invested into it given the current circumstances.
The link is obvious, might be one and the same person, by reading the nexus thread it looks like same exprimation in words, same standards in projects , whitepapers etc.
I'm mining this from the start, also I supported this, but there are some aspects which are not clear.
The premine still is huge, 13%-15%, since POS phase lasts 7 years. So basically once POW phase ends, miners will hold a 85% of coins, while dev 15% (estimative).
I just wish this will be not true. Good luck.

This right there is the problem.  A pre-mine should never be for total amount of coins when POS is involved.  Most coins these days seem to be dead after a few months, but you are going to believe that the dev will hold on to a HUGE amount of coins for 7 years?  Highly unlikely.  Even if the dev did hang on to the coins, he will have more than anyone sitting in a wallet gaining more and more with POS.  Not that I don't trust the dev's intentions, I don't know him or ever talked to him, but a 15% off the bat pre-mine of POW coins is overly absurd.
