121  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Why Ripple™ is against everything Bitcoin on: May 13, 2013, 04:24:19 AM
If you want to repeat the same points I've already addressed, please don't style them as a question to me, as if I haven't already answered them several times. You already know my answers. If you're so big on honesty, honestly say that you disagree with my positions, rather than asking me to repeat them yet again as if I've never responded to these points.

I've reviewed the post history of anti-scam and have concluded that this person is either unwilling or unable to participate in any sort of rational discourse. I put them on ignore. It seems they created the account just to bad-mouth Ripple.

antiscam is probably being paid by TradeFortress and the vehemence with which both oppose ripple makes me think that one or both of them is the originator of ripplescam.org.
122  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Kraken warning on: May 12, 2013, 07:11:31 PM
There is a warning for the exchange kraken.com which is currently in beta stage.
It is also very strange that they support Ripple which has also scam warnings.
http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/1e5gt5/a_warning_about_krakencom/
Also, ripple is not a scam, despite what you may have read.
123  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Why Ripple™ is against everything Bitcoin on: May 11, 2013, 02:00:05 PM
Man, what are so afraid of, tradefortress?  Step back and breathe.  Your crusade against ripple is bordering on religious zealotry, to the point that you're offering people money to say that "ripple is a scam"?

http://www.thebitcointrader.com/2013/05/i-was-offered-550-to-say-that-ripple-is.html

Scams are started by nobodies in their garage or basement, Open coin is being run by people who have run or been involved with established businesses in their past, like E-loan and Prosper.com.  I hardly think they're going to sully their professional reputation by running some sort of cheap fly-by-night scam operation.
The vitriol spewed by the likes of you or "antiscam" (one and the same?) on the ripple forum makes me curious as to what is really at issue here.  You and your buddies at ripplescam.org are threatened, that much is clear.  Is your emotional connection to bitcoin so strong that the perceived threat that you see in ripple is causing you to stoop low and play social media games in your effort to stamp ripple out?  Or did you get turned down for a job at Opencoin?  What's the source of persistant resistance to ripple?    It can't be just out of the goodness of your heart to save the masses from your perceived "scam that is ripple."
If that's the case, then there's more worrisome altcoins to rail about than ripple.

Relax and let the cryptocurrency environment sort itself out and stop spamming the forum.
124  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Deposit to BTC-e through OKPAY on: May 10, 2013, 08:52:13 PM
After having the same question this morning when I went to make my weekly bitcoin purchase, I hit up support and they quickly emailed back that it will "return in 1 week".
125  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Is there a website I can buy groceries at? on: May 10, 2013, 02:01:53 AM
LOL,  I think he meant with BITCOIN!
126  Economy / Speculation / Re: Triangle? on: May 10, 2013, 01:35:49 AM
I know it isn't straight, but I feel we're overdue for some volatility. I have a feeling it should either be up to ~150 or down to ~100 by next week.

You're right, thanks for that.  We're about to blow one way or the other and I really hope its up!
127  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Ripple: A Distributed Exchange for Bitcoin on: May 08, 2013, 03:01:20 PM
saw this the other day on youtube; How Ripple Works - Gateways and Pathways

hope it's not redundant...

I dislike Ripple for many reasons, one being its useless and gives nothing to the Bitcoin world IMO
That's what people were saying about Bitcoin 2-3 years ago (and arguably still are).  Give it some time.
128  Other / Off-topic / Re: bitcoin target $50... sell now to avoid losses!! on: May 07, 2013, 04:26:21 AM
Smells like a troll-box bottomfeeder from BTC-e.

Sign of increasing market maturity? (lol.)

It may indicate increasing number of arbitrage operations.

Arbitrage is tricky with bitcoin though so who knows.

Good point.  I think Crypto.st (arbitrage site) is starting their private beta and it looks like it's pretty efficient.  I wonder if that's having an effect.
131  Economy / Speculation / Re: The one has sold their coins yesterday, you would better buy them back on: May 05, 2013, 05:34:16 PM
I'm not sure I buy the claim that high ranking CCP members hold large amounts of bitcoin. Anything to substantiate this claim?

It's easy to discern from looking at events. The CCP runs nothing like a normal government in a normal country. Everything is centralized in an authoritarian structure with no checks or balances. What can and can't be broadcast as news via the CCP's media network is strictly controlled. There is a Propaganda Ministry for a reason, and a member of the CCP's Politburo Standing Committee governs the Propaganda Ministry for a reason. Bitcoin is a technology that provides a certain level of anonymity and freedom on an economic level, which contradicts the CCP's overall modus. Specifically, it makes it very easy for CCP members who are embezzling money out of China to do so with relatively little opposition. It goes against the CCP's survival. So, in my opinion, if the CCP's Propaganda Ministry broadcasts a piece like this it is because it benefits the personal interests of high ranking CCP members.

Furthermore, the common Chinese citizen can in absolutely no way afford to dabble in BTC. They are impoverished and destitute. 700 Yuan for 1 BTC is outright unattainable if you aren't upper-middle class and above. Even less is it safe for them to do so when the entire country's Internet is strictly controlled by the CCP's massive surveillance network. Assuming that the common Chinese citizen can get involved with BTC is even more naive than believing the people in western slums are going to get involved with BTC.

So, who can afford to dabble in BTC? China's wealthy. Who are China's wealthy? CCP members and those closely affiliated with them: http://www.forbes.com/2011/09/14/china-rich-lists-opinions-contributors-john-lee.html

If you think that's not true, keep in mind it is very, very difficult to exist as a business or a wealthy person in China without the blessing of the local CCP bosses. Bo Xilai's various campaigns in "countering corruption" were all fronts to eliminate his enemies and competitors in business. People routinely get charged on false charges and get sent off to labour camps to endure years of torture, rape, and murder because of this type of factor.

There's just no reason for CCTV to air this article unless someone has a vested interest in a pump. Every single one of you who thinks that CCTV runs as a normal journalistic outlet does in the West, or even one as degenerate as Fox, simply does not understand the Party. It is no different from giving credit to North Korea's media when it shoots its mouth off.

This is not untrue. But it is still obfuscating the issue because it implies western governments are a lot better.

Western governments also censor media.

Western governments are also corrupt.

Because China is still a poor country the businesses you mention where you have to have connections are actually relatively big. But most big companies in the US also have a lobby in Washington.

The United States have been running wild after the second world war by going all around the world and killing innocent people as well as supporting dictators and subverting regimes that are not friendly. China has not been going around the world killing innocents in other country on a massive scale, at least not yet.

Do you really purport that western governments are not using propaganda?

Also, you don't have to be wealthy to dabble with Bitcoin. Your wealth only limits the amount of Bitcoin you can get.

You also say that the Chinese government monitor the entire country's internet...well the NSA monitors the internet, sms and phone calls of the entire world.

I agree, the Chinese gov't exercises overt control over the populace while western gov'ts use covert means.  Those of us in the west are given the illusion that we're free.
132  Economy / Speculation / Re: The bear market is on....Welcome to "Bearpocalypse Now" on: May 05, 2013, 02:31:36 AM
Down to $50, then up to $600.  No reason to sell if you believe in long term viability.
133  Economy / Speculation / Anyone noticed the parity between exchanges? on: May 05, 2013, 02:03:59 AM
For the longest time, there's always been large deviations in price between most exchanges, especially BTC-e, sometimes being up to 15% lower than Gox or Bitfloor (now defunct).  Now for the last few days, the bids and asks between the 5 major exchanges have leveled out to the point that they rarely get outside of 1% of each other.  Interesting?
134  Economy / Speculation / Re: Any ideas on what the manipulators are planning? on: May 01, 2013, 03:35:15 AM
Bitcoin is going to eventually get crushed to nothing. Its a pyramid scheme.

You obviously need some understanding of what a pyramid scheme is.  Quit mindlessly repeating something you heard on some youtube video.  Bitcoin could fail (doubt it, though), but it won't be because it was a pyramid scheme.
135  Economy / Speculation / Re: [Apr 30, 2013] Reason for the dump that started today's 10$+ drop? on: May 01, 2013, 02:28:57 AM
I blame the troll box on BCT-e.  It's full of kiddies who call CRASH! when it moves a buck or two up or down.  I think Bitcoin has brought in a lot of people who don't know shit about how markets move, whether it's silver, gold, stocks, soybeans or pork bellies, they all do the same thing: move up and down!  Granted the volitility of bitcoin is quite extreme compared to anything else, but this should just tell you that a $10 dollar move is NOTHING.
136  Economy / Speculation / Re: does price manipulation break standard methods of TA? on: April 29, 2013, 10:01:57 PM
Standard markets (upon which TA was developed) aren't as susceptible to price manipulation. Remember, paper gold crashed from $15** to $13**, not $15** to $400. And when HFT glitches happen, the market is right back to normal once the bot operators realize what happened. Bitcoin has some very concentrated positions and not much liquidity.

On top of that, it is a true 24 hour global market - this is practically unparalleled. There are few markets that can be said to come close to this. Most global markets are 9-5-ish in each area of the world and some are closed on weekends. So downward price movement does not have 16 hours every single day to cool down in each locale. I am not overestimating the impact of this, I am just stating it as a factor worthy of consideration.

Seeing as TA and its associated patterns/shapes/voodooism was built upon markets with far more liquidity, far more down-time in each locale, and relatively less concentrated positions, not to mention better infrastructure, it makes sense that one would adjust one's TA to allow for far more volatility and general "weird shit." To what extent these factors effectively "break TA"... I have no idea. I guess we'll just have to find out!

Full disclosure: I know absolutely nothing about TA and am just talking out of my ass.  Cool  Cool Cool

BitcoinAshley, you're smart.  I like the way you think.
137  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC-E Troll Box on: April 29, 2013, 09:58:10 PM
Fontas is a noob troll. He has no skills other than skills on failing.

 Cheesy
Well, at least he knows how to pump effectively. I wish I could do that.

He doesn't even need to do that now, it's enough to announce and they pump it for him Smiley

How does one get enough people to do that for you?
The majority of people participating in the trollbox are teenagers or 20-somethings, who are there mainly for 2 things:  To chat, because that's what teenagers do and to speculate in altcoins to buy BTC in order to purchase drugs on silk road.  Then, BTC goes to $266 and we suddenly have a large population of young people sitting on fairly large mountains of paper profits, causing them to think they are trading gods or something.  Talk about catching lightning in a bottle.
138  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitstamp warning on: April 27, 2013, 10:27:12 PM
I get the impression that the existing exchanges aren't re-investing. When was the last user-visible functional change to MtGox? Apart from adding and subtracting some payment methods it's hardly changed since it opened.

More RAM.

How come your ignore button is dark orange? I really enjoy your posts. Bit dickish at times, but always entertaining. [/offtopic]
It means a lot of people have her on ignore.
139  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: MTGox to OKPay: Really slow! on: April 25, 2013, 04:51:50 PM
I just had one funded that took 3 days, although I've had others take an hour.  No rhyme or reason.
