121  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: RX 5700 EOL | testing RX 5600XT mining performance on: August 10, 2020, 01:43:35 PM
Hello All,

Agree with jgonzi  for the cards ranking, Sapphire is the best brand (easy replacable fan, very high quality build and impressive cooling, with NITRO+>Pulse>Pulse BE

If someone can give us information about flashing the bios I would be interrested. I saw a couple of video about rx 5700 biosmod but until now noone of rx 5600 biosmod

Regards
Jean

Bios RX 5600 is the same… copy STRAPS...

Yeah he is right it does not work, straps bricks the cards. Think this is because tools not supported with RX 5600

Did you have a chance of using RTX 2080? If yes, then what would you say is better AMD RX 5700 or GeForce RTX 2080? Lately am in the market for an upgrade and I looking for something that doesn't overheat easy.

I have not myself. Had couple pre-ordered for tests when they launched, and then there was issue with lot of cards burning, so i canceled.
But Nvidia has always been very expensive for mining , as their cost is lot higher usually then AMD. Nvidia usually does much better on core hard algorithms, but there is very little coins that would have large networks.
AMD has always been better on memory hard algorithms, and there is few coins in top 50 Mcap which has these algos.

Any of these with great cooling should be ok. Sapphire nitros, pulse for AMD usually have great cooling

You dont need to copy all straps. It wont work with 2000 Mhz and more anyway.
it seems the ones with straps coppied are faster by 3mhs at least ar least on the msi ones that the 1550 straps were copied on.  all the 5700 tuning guides say straps and powerplay
Yeah straps on 5700 needs to be edited to reach higher performance. Powerplay if you use hiveos can be edited directly in OC now.
You are right about 1550 straps are slower slightly, depends on memory type.

i like your chart that shows what model gpu is mining what, you should also talk about the older asics that might fall off too when dag passes 4.5 gig.

do you own and asics?

I have one E3 sitting in corner. Its off dont know if it is working, need to try turn on one day. Turned off cause the hashrate was drooping cause if the dag.

Yeah heared about update, but didnt try it myself. I hate the ASICs Cheesy

i also picked up an asrock 5700 really cheap $325 any ideas how to flash this one, seems to crash when i copy both straps from 1500 to end.

What is your OC, might be your cards cannt handle OC? Or its bricked and doesnt start mining at all?

Sad news for RX 5700 as they have been absolute best mining cards lately for ROI. Most of the brands like MSI and Sapphire , they are now EOL. The XT version is still produced. Still a very good option but slightly more expensive then the non XT version for the same performance.

Just wanted to test out little brother RX 5600XT. After tests seems like a decent mining farm.

Efficiency rating is slightly better for power usage for hash then RX 5700 . But the RX 5700 is bout 0.7 usd cheaper for 1 mh/s. If the electric rate you pay is high then in long-term the days of ROI could be about the same.

Current time of ROI for 12xgpu mining rig is roughly 300 days at current ETH price and mining difficulty.

Performance :

42mh/s
@100w from the wall
OC (910 mem , Core 1100, PL 100)

I have created also google spreadsheet to compare few of the cards efficiency . - https://bit.ly/3jLAzjK

129  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Hidden mining profits nobody is talking about. on: July 24, 2020, 08:22:35 AM
Actually the fee is 2%, 1% miner and 1% pool, aside from that, there are lots of issues that can reduce the profit a lot more. So in truth make it 2% lost in fees + 3% lost in the mess + 95% gross net. So, If whattomine says 100, make it 95. So I would call hidden losses, not hidden profit. I guess people got used to mine it at loss for a long long time and now is getting very little bit back, in truth for those people to get that time mining at loss, they need at least 12 months earning 3 usd per card net or 2 years 2 usd per card net.
hiveon pool has 0% fee. Have tested exact miner on different pools and best result always got on hiveon
3usd a day per card you are looking for some kind of rich get quick scheme Smiley)
130  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Hidden mining profits nobody is talking about. on: July 22, 2020, 07:58:47 AM
Blockchain transaction fees have always gone to the miners for any coin.
It's not hidden, it's included in the block reward, and the amounts are insignificant to profitability.
The point is some calculators doesnt show these fees.
Check the screenshoots how is that insignificant on mining ETH current daily Block rewards 13 500 ETH and transactions fees 5000 ETH . Is this really insignificant?
131  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Hidden mining profits nobody is talking about. on: July 21, 2020, 03:15:46 PM
And why we must talk about  Huh
Your calculators are wrong, at one calculator you set fee 1% and on the other you are set fee to 0?

Different Calculators give different results that is nothing we must talk about.

It might mislead some people who is looking to do calculations Wink
132  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Hidden mining profits nobody is talking about. on: July 21, 2020, 02:50:04 PM

Ethereum mining recently has been very interesting. And there is hidden mining profits that nobody have been talking about. What i mean by nobody is that some of the mining calculators will show you different/incorrect current Ethereum mining profitability.

First off all you need to understand how Blockchains work , so for example Ethereum you have the block rewards which is currently 2 ETH paid out to mining pool who finds the block averaging 15sec a block (13500 ETH/24h)

Then there is transaction fees, to process transaction on Ethereum you have to pay GAS fee which is calculated in Ether . All these transaction fees are paid out to mining pool who has found the block and recorded all these transactions on this block. These transaction fees currently is over 5000ETH/24h .

The fees are at the highest they have been, since May up-till now they are higher then total bitcoin fees.

So this is where the hidden ETH mining profits are coming from. To test this out i have tested 11xRX5700 gpu Ethereum mining rig for 24h mining on hiveos ethereum mining pool.

Conclusion is that check multiple mining calculators to get the most accurate result . Like cryptocompare mining calculator does not have latest data from transaction fees,  whattomine showing accurate results for me.  Or the best solution test yourself, pools sometimes also could affect your payot amount, depending on size of the pool and payment structure.

134  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 26+ mh/s Raven-coin mining RX5700 | best graphic card for mining in 2020. on: June 18, 2020, 12:37:21 PM
That's great news for those who use 5700 GPU for mining, I don't, I find electricity bills to be very high in my country so I can only use 1660 GPUs, very power efficiency, I will consider 5700 if I go green power soon, hopefully.
I think 1660 series GPUs are about the same watt per hash you get Then RX5700. But they are more expensive price per hashrate you get, so this extends your ROI i guess.
135  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 26+ mh/s Raven-coin mining RX5700 | best graphic card for mining in 2020. on: June 18, 2020, 10:09:50 AM
It's a great improvement of TeamRed Miner
I have a 5700XT Gigabyte, and with my tweaks I achieved 24Mhs but with 130w, and slightly more heat on GPU, and with ETH I do 54mhs with 110w stable
I'll stick with ETH for now, I'm paying a high electricity price and every watt counts, but if I buy another 5700 I'll put to mine RVN only

I have a 1660 and do 12.5mhs with 70w power, as you said on video, 5700xt is now a great option to RVN too

Yeah there is some software support out now, you can turn down the watts on Rx5700 GPUs. And that way use less power, but the hahsrate also slightly will reduce. Just calculate whats the profit at the same wattage as mining ETH. I think it should be about the same.
136  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 26+ mh/s Raven-coin mining RX5700 | best graphic card for mining in 2020. on: June 17, 2020, 09:16:24 AM
Nice TRM has done really good job, i tunned down my power limit and using the same as mining ETH at 20.5 mh/s
Think best is to use TMR + hiveOS , they have released a lot of tools now for RX5700 to reduce power on these GPUs.
137  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: BIOS modified RX5700 | how to edit timings | 10% speed increase. on: June 16, 2020, 10:13:01 AM
Thank you very much for this article.

I will try 5600xt to run 52m-eth
did you mod RX5600XT and it is hashing 52mh/s?
138  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: BIOS modified RX5700 | how to edit timings | 10% speed increase. on: June 16, 2020, 10:12:34 AM
Hi,
I extracet the 1MB bios of my 5700, mod it with hex editor coping 1550 straps to uppper.

After flashing and reboot I have code 43 Error (unsigned driver?)

Tried atikmdag-patcher.exe, doesn't fix it
Drivers used AMD 15/11/2019 26.20.13031.18002

Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.
I asume you have bricked card with incorrect bios, just reflash back to original.

Team red miner has released miner update. Which has increases performance for mining Ravencoin very significantly. Have you used it yet?

This makes RX5700 my top pick for mining GPUs in 2020.

140  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: RX5700 GPU mining rig vs ASIC miner A10 for Ethereum mining !? on: June 05, 2020, 09:02:18 AM
I have about 20 RX 5700s, they are great cards also good at C31 and KAWPOW.  RVN is now more profitable then eth on the 5700s with Team Red miner.  24.81 MH/s on a RX 5700 XT.  That's RTX 2080 speed for almost half price.

I wouldn't touch the ASIC with the threat of ProgPOW.
Wow last time i tested i got only 17mh, did hear about TeamRed miner, tried it on my old RX570 and got 15mh/s
Ill test them today, what is the power usage you getting on RVN from wall?
