@worth

I wouldn't call providing liquidity price manipulation cuz if nobody would it would be pretty bad. If you're not driving price up or down unnaturally it should be ok and is even neccessary because people don't buy illiquid coins.

About SC:
All good, man. I'm just still really burned out from the 20MB Bitcoin discussion and the last BW screw-fork and i really don't want to have more of this shit right now. I can read the market and it tells me we don't need SC or even a discussion about it. We are very good positioned the way Uno is right now and i think SC shouldn't be discussed below 2mln$ cap and decent testing outside Uno. That's all. Just the burn out.

lol
@IMZ
leaving wallet open helps the network (being a node). And currently 26% of wallets on the network are 0.9.5 which is too much. People need to update to wallet 0.1. Until they do keeping your 0.1 wallet open will help the network.  Smiley

Good comment, knife. Maybe i was a bit fast forward.
Right now i know if we can get some peace and enjoy the last update we'll be able to raise the cap quite a bit in the months to come. Another discussion about a Weiner-fork won't help us now. It's just disturbing the heck out of everyone. Let's put the sidechains discussion on the bucket list for later when cap is in the millions. Right now a controversial discussion about untested tech isn't what we need imo.
Investors confidence is far more important than sidechains.
124  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [UNO] Unobtanium Info & Discussion - Update to 0.10 Wallet - Merge Mine w/BTC! on: June 10, 2015, 12:00:04 AM

It's been planned for the coin for months. Merged mining implementation was a first step towards securing it and making it ready for sidechains. The potential effect on the price would not be a bad thing, to say the least, based on the statements of the Blockstream devs during their AMA and elsewhere.

Who planned that? Bryce won't do it. He can't even complete the most basic tasks. So who is the one implementing it? It's not Bryce. Last update isn't even 100% by now. I don't see this discussion as helpful at all right now.

Let's leave it at 'maybe later'. And if it's coming later after proof of concept on another coin in the wild it should be done by Maxwell. But right now we're still busy with ironing out the last update and i feel the community desires a good coin that's not a constant building site, at least for a while.
In 'under construction' conditions the cap won't grow.

I tell you: there will be no longterm demand from it beyond a pump and dump. It's really not that interesting and even too risky for that possible reward.
There is a whole lot of stuff to get right before we can even talk about another hardfork. Right now it's uncalled for. Maybe later.

I think the cap will grow a whole lot more if we can make the last update 100% and say "we're good for a little while" so the community can recover a little from the last very stressfull fork which in the end of the day caused selling instead of buying because it was delivered badly. I don't think we're interested in more screwjobs right now.

I think we should not even discuss it before an example is made on another coin for people to see what's it about and also for safety reasons. Going from testnet to Uno is BS.

Uno is a store of value coin (actually the only one) with one of the most solid communities. We're not that hype pump and dump shitcoin. And we don't need more bells and whistles than we already have. Uno is about the monetary properties and not really about features. You can build on top of it without forks! There is also nowhere near enough traffic on the chain to even justify a need for a sidechain!

Are you even holding a considerable amount of it yourself?

Bottom line: it's not urgent also generally rules of complex systems apply (don't fix what isn't broken)

edit: it will also only help the price if it is desired and welcomed by the ones holding the coins. You're speculating on maybe increased demand while i speculate on maybe increased supply from it. I'm sure the ones releasing SC are good in hyping it up, no doubt about that. But if the current holders of Uno respond to that hype in a positive way is another story.
People who don't provide liquidity shouldn't even talk about changes to the coin in the first place btw. We should make it a rule for the coin that only those showing a buywall at the market should be allowed to suggest any changes imo. Which one is your buyorder? Can you flash it? Or got some latest tradehistory to share?

And leave your wallets open guys. The old wallet is growing network share again for some reason.

People need to update to the latest wallet!
Leave your updated wallets open when possible until the older clients are all updated. Thanks.

Would be great if we could leave Uno as it is currently because it's pretty perfect now and will rise now very easy if you just leave it alone with this uncalled for shit. Jeezuz  Roll Eyes

There is enough details to improve still on the last update before we can move to more advanced stuff imo.
Could be 0.02 next week, but probably not if you start discussing unnecessary weiner-hardforks now for unmatured tech.

Time to rise, not time to fork - we just did that.
127  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [UNO] Unobtanium Info & Discussion - Update to 0.10 Wallet - Merge Mine w/BTC! on: June 09, 2015, 08:24:51 PM

"Announcing Sidechain Elements: Open source code and developer sidechains for advancing Bitcoin"

hmmm .... is UNO SC friendly?

 Wink

Not now and not by Bryce. Seriously. Even the discussion turns me off big time cuz we'd be ready to move up a decent notch if we were undisturbed by the neophiliacs with their half baked experiments. We haven't even got a good looking wallet right now. Sidechains aren't an option before it hasn't been shown on another coin. And Mr. "Bryce-i-pay-no-attention-to-details-and-generally-am-not-available-or-have-communication-with-the-community-and busy-on-scamcoins-Weiner" won't be doing it.
Total veto as long as there isn't a more reliable dev team and a proof of concept on another coin can be shown.
Again: even the discussion of it is uncalled for atm (proof on other coin first not just some testnet)

Let's let some of the 7 bazillion shitcoins figure it out first.

Any foray Uno takes in such territory need not be the first, it needs to be the most elegant attempt at resolving a genuine need.  Not just tech for tech's sake.  Let's watch and think first.

+100

Some numbers for ya:

VTC emission: 28800 new coins every day. Current price: 24 cents
= approx 6900$ costs for inflation every day at this price

Uno emission: 7.5 Coins every day. Price today: 2.80$
= 21 $ costs for inflation to the holders of the coin evey day at this price

UNO compared to VTC is 60 times more efficient meaning: costs for running the coin to the VTC community at a marketcap for VTC of 3.5 mln $ is equal to the costs of running the coin to the UNO community at 210 mln $ cap.

in short: VTC causes its holders longterm costs 60 times as high as UNO does

#justsayin'  Wink

Uno is dirt cheap at this price given its monetary properties.
129  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [XCE] Cerium [NINJA] on: June 07, 2015, 05:52:15 AM
Oh noese! They are coming for my Unobtanium holdings! lol

No, seriously guys ... why not pump Californium at least before releasing the next fast decaying element? Or build up Unat again? lol

For the rest of you: if you want the real deal original just buy UNO instead of some shortlived derivate copycat of lower quality Wink (link in sig)

*chrrrscht*over and out*chrrrscht*

OMG. Fud in an hour. This will get big. Roll Eyes

Lol. No need to fud. If i would think it would be worth it i'd buy it which i won't. Got better things to do than fud ... For me it's 'buy or no buy'. Fudding is for kids.

The FUD isn't even correct. Cerium's most common isotope is not even radioactive. The other three most common isotopes are radioactive. But the most radioactive one has a half life of 70 trillion years, more than 50 times the age of the universe.

This is interesting.
Californium was also very educational for me. I learn physics and chemistry in crypto, who would have thought?
Unobtanium still the best because it is fictional (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unobtainium) and the embodiment of rareness and costlyness.
It carries the number 120 which is the element Unbinillium which is an element that wasn't proven to exist yet. It is theorized to be part of the 'isle of stability' in physics and will likely decay much slower than its neighbours. As such it's an anomaly.
Really good stuff to trip on, i can tell you that.  Wink

We're now entering 12th month of bullmarket with it which no other coin was able to do. It's possibly remaining bullish for years cuz maths. Bitcoin on steroids basically. But enough now. Good luck with the ninjalaunch poscoin.  Roll Eyes

Daniel having trouble translating word "unobtanium".

Don't translate "Unobtanium". They can read latin letters too, can't they?

...wait ... found this: http://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/難得素

so the correct translation is: 難得素

 Cool

The chinese are going to love it.  Smiley

Oh look, we also have an entry in the english wikipedia article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unobtainium#In_real_life

Network sufficiently decentralised after merge mining implementation. It looks pretty good to me so far. Network is secure. One can sink money into that imo.

Comkort is closing down. Time to withdraw the coins!

Show 8bitcoder your appreciation for both 32 and 64 bit wallets by sending a tip to his Uno address, uZSab1bmd3Rbr3zYGHjP1GQ2sbqqjFvtNG

Let me know if you experience any problems.

Thanks a bunch 8bitcoder, I sent you 5 UNO as a small token of appreciation!

Common guys, one or two more people send the 8bitcoder some love. Remember if it wasn't for him we would still sit here waiting for the wallets. Show some appreciation with a little tip so he'll be available next time again  Wink Thanks.

Remember: there is no premine. Uno needs to run on donations and voluntary work only. Tipping for developement is the price you pay for a fair coin, so send some love to the ones that  keep your investement healthy Wink

Look at the dates of the txs in the wallet. Those first 25 have been received not recently. So it was so far only 20 coins. That's a little small imo for that important job.
Who didn't donate so far: please send a little out for that wallet you are using right now. Thanks.

I am prepared for all contingencies. I built the competing codebase here: http://thebitcoin.foundation/index.html and it is beautiful, clean code for what it is. This new "BitcoinXT" not so much.

This is the puritan MP foundation, right?
Are you associated with MP?

slightly off top - more shite from the OKCoin debacle.

http://np.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/37u6ca/okcoins_response_to_czs_lies_and_desperate/

it just gets worse & worse (and everyone else is to brame)

apologies for brief derailment!
There's an easy solution, just buy Unobtanium...

i dont see that as a solution.

especially if we're actively chasing the chinese 'market'

the same practices they have maintained wrt bitcoin (and i sincerely doubt OKCoin are alone) could be fatal to UNO/lesser alts and may well seriously harm us all - not that theyll give a shit.

have you been keeping up with whats been going on?

@Edgar
Please give us a summary about what's going on with the asia markets as i have not been able to keep up with everything that's happening right now.

I'm on the Bitcoin fork thing and it does not look good for Bitcoin. Basically it falls apart and Gavin starts his own altcoin and tries to take down Bitcoin with his actions. The situation looks really grim right now for the Bitcoin community. This could crash hard. In case Bitcoin forks into two chains both chains will likely loose most if not all of their value. The dev team falls apart. There is a lot stuff going on right now. It is quite possible Bitcoin could see double digits this year thanks to Gavin.
138  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: To fill Gavincoin blocks up to the max of 20MB is relatively cheap on: May 31, 2015, 04:51:35 AM
Well, today a spamming attack makes bitcoin temporary unusable or slow while with 20MB blocks it additionally bloats the chain. That's the thing.

Bandwidth is another concern of course.
It's pretty clear that filled up 20MB blocks would basically prevent 80%+ of current users to access their funds.
139  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gavin Threatens to Quit Bitcoin Development and Join Hearn's Fork on: May 30, 2015, 10:32:03 PM
just increase the block size and make it scalable.  it is silly that people want to keep it small.  Bitcoin needs to scale to grow.

I don't see any reason to panic .. what is the worst that can happen with the fork?  It's more of a technical issue for the nerds .. not affecting consumers

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1075532.0

40 Million is the price to spam the blockchain to 1 Terrabyte HD use.
#justsayin'
Do you want to download 2,88 GB every day just to use Gavincoin? Because that'll be the reality when someone who doesn't like Gavincoin with a little money decides he wants to spam it. And you'll be waiting just as long for your txs as you would on 1MB blocks ...
140  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: To fill Gavincoin blocks up to the max of 20MB is relatively cheap on: May 30, 2015, 10:28:35 PM
Im not a technical person, but if the 20MB blocksize proposal by Gavin is not a solution and would indeed bring more problems... then what is the solution? What we know for a fact is things cant go on the way they are now indefinitely.

The solution is merge mined altchains aswell as possibly sidechains and i have seen at least one more proposal from someone else which didn't get enough attention. There should be quite a few alternatives to bloating the blockchain like this.
