Has anyone seen cheaplin. Such a shame he's not about any more. He has great skills. Would be great to see him again.. ![Huh](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/huh.gif) Or at least hear from him that we know he is doing all right. I emailed his personal email a few months ago asking if he was OK and didn't get a reply This sounds definitely NOT good ![Sad](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/sad.gif)

i would love to see a chart masternode-count / date.
Not a chart, but this gives you an idea: ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=http%3A%2F%2F178.254.18.153%2F%7Epub%2Fmasternode_count.png&t=664&c=1GihH-H-UjYeZg)

Ok, wondering what the 'official' method for reporting software errors? Do we post them on Github? I have found 3 errors, 2 client and 1 masternode.
http://jira.darkcoin.qa/secure/Dashboard.jspa is the official place. Create an issue there and the right people will find it.

But if you do yourself the math with the formula 2222222/(((Difficulty+2600)/9)^2) given by DRK staff, you find that the block reward is near 5 or over, with the same difficulty.
BTW (because almost everyone seems to forget that): Reward = MIN(MAX(2222222/(((Difficulty+2600)/9)^2), 5), 25)

we are at 0.29 DRK/day
any idea when the next pay rise is coming ?! tx
impossible. For this kind of reward we should have almost 3000 MNs right it dropped super fast today !? not sure what that means check drk.mn !! Looks like drk.mn have some automated scripts that sometimes are wrong. Wait for refresh. 24^2 blocks per day / 1643 mns * 1.5 drk per block = 0.53 drk/day UPD wait wait wait The official explorer and drk.mn either stucks on block that was 12 hours ago, that's the key. Temporary backup for this information: http://178.254.18.153/~pub/Darkcoin/masternode_payments_stats.html

How many supporters would you say this community has? I guess there is no way to count wallets but roughly numbers?
This (and other rather useless) information can be found here: http://178.254.18.153/~pub/Darkcoin/Darkcoin-Lesser_Known_Facts.htmlBut the numbers get more inaccurate by the day, because the mixing process creates tons of new addresses.

Total Masternodes: 1302 = 1302 actives + 0 inactives (Last refresh: Wed Dec 03 2014 13:42:05) Strong! ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) Does anyone know what is the maximum count of masternodes so far? Well I think we are at the ATH so : 1302 is the highest so far ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif) 1331, reached somewhere between 2014-12-03-19:00:01 and 2014-12-03-20:00:01 GMT

I love Darksend but you have to realize it will be replaced once someone starts a zero knowledge proof coin.
While I've been working on DarkSend I've been thinking about this alot. You know what the problem is with a zero knowledge proof? There's a secret key that will be attacked by governments and it will eventually be cracked. That will make every transaction that ever happened in that blockchain cleartext and allow every future transaction to also be viewed as cleartext. I'm going to venture to say the government is working on quantum computers and such crypto can be solved with shor's algorithm. When they do, they're not going to tell anyone. So it's a giant honeypot. DarkSend is immune to such attacks, all involved crypto functions could be cracked and the mixing is still done off blockchain by the masternodes. Off blockchain means that the information is lost and that's the only way to secure it, you can't do it with cryptography. Long time no see. Does anybody know if Evan feels the same now? This "secret key" problem as he describes? Evan? I don't know much about Evan's feelings ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif) , but since his statement is based on facts and mathematics his statement will be the same. Maybe today he'll go as far as I do and changes the statement to "anything with a secret master key is fucked-up by design, but no one will tell you because the people in charge (governments et al) like it that way". (okay, he will use the word "broken" instead of "fucked-up".)

Considering DRK is open source and I am not going to be the one to attack it there is nothing nefarious going on.
I can promise you this though, I will find an exploit.
This coin is way too sophisticated and smooth to NOT have an exploit.
~BCX~
Every coin has exploits, that's the nature of new software. And I'm perfectly fine when you help finding those. Did you sign some kind of NDA to not publish the exploit after he has paid you, or will you help Darkcoin to improve after he did whatever seems to make him happy?

Why is DRK a scam and why do the Monero crew want to take it down? ~BCX~
It's not a scam and it's Monero's closest competitor functionality wise. I'll never understand why people like to bring/take down other currencies. There's enough space for all of them. I think they feel that DRK is why they are steadily falling week over week. ~BCX~ I think they are wrong because almost every crypto-currency has this problem... They have however offered a proposition for DRK but I wanted to find out about it first.
Best places to get information: https://darkcointalk.org/ and https://www.darkcoin.io/Welcome to the world of Darkcoin ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

OMG !!
Please someone explain me this... there is mathematical logic, just not common sense!!
Ghash.io just solved 20 something blocks in a few seconds!! WTF ?!?!
It usually means that someone is happily mining the wrong blockchain and will soon get a lot of orphans ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif)

I tried it right after your build was complete ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif) , and while the 16.9 Masternodes see each other they get inactive for the 16.8/16.6 Masternodes. I reverted back to 16.8 but can't get them running anymore, seems they are banned for a while for spamming everyone else... Can you give me the 1000DRK address that went offline ( evan@darkcoin.io)? I should be able to see what happened now. Masternode messages won't get you banned, unless you're broadcasting bad signatures. Sent! BTW, I reverted all back to 16.8 and after about 30 minutes they are now running again. Edit: Can't test next version until tomorrow, gotta catch some sleep now...

Yes with 1000's of miners behind it.. it's not ME mining all those blocks myself, you seem to forget that with your closed vision. But you _could_ start an attack (unlikely, I mine at suchpool since day one and have a lot of trust in you), or someone hacking your pool could (more likely). And, what most people don't realize and the name implies otherwise, you don't need 51% for an 51% attack...it's just that with 51% your chance to succeed is 100%. I deliver straight to the darkcoin community. In the case of waffle, its just rape n dump as the miners don't care about anything else than bitcoin. That's what should be avoided.
100% agreement!

I simply can't get my head around why Evan worded the "Darksend - Security Bulletin " the way he did. Why why why??
Because it's honest?
|
|
|
why can't we have multiple Master Nodes, say 3-5, running off 1 IP Address?
An internet- (more precise: socket-) connection is (more or less) defined by the IP and the port-number to connect to. The Masternodes right now use a fixed port for communication (9999 for mainnet, 19999 for testnet), so the only remaining variable to connect different Masternodes is the IP.

I think so, yes. Might be why Evan warned that you can't InstantX over and over and have to wait some time - because the coins have to go back the "normal" route before being vouched for again.
Or maybe it's just that you won't be allowed to InstantX again before your first instantX transaction is confirmed by the block chain the "normal" way, to ensure there will be no double spend.
I'm not sure about that part, I'd like some confirmation from Evan if possible, what scenario is possible, and what scenario isn't:
1) I receive an InstantX transaction and try to immediately send them through InstantX before reaching the amount of confirmation blocks required.
2)I send an InstantX transaction and try to send another one before the first one is completely confirmed.
According to the whitepaper the transaction lock is between an input (or more) and an output (or more). You'll still be able to spend other inputs.
|
|
|
I don't understand where those 6 confirmations came from. Your commentary suggest that you explicitly expected not less or more but exactly 6, even though there were no 6 new blocks mines, nor 6 active masternodes to sign this tx, so this number seems to pop out of thin air. The transaction is (almost) instantly confirmed by the Masternodes, and the Masternodes block the transaction (so that the payer can't double spend the coins because the Masternodes will not accept his already used inputs) until the transaction is really confirmed.

Ok, so as i'm trying my first actual attempt at mixing... 30 minutes in, I would say either there's a problem or the interface leaves a LOT to be desired for...
0% done.. the message just keeps switching between Submitted to masternode, waiting in queue to Darksend is idle... I have no idea (i haven't really been paying attention the last couple months) if this is normal or not or if this isn't working... from a novice standpoint, it feels like it's not working?
Mixing needs partners to mix with, and because very few are doing this (remember it is a VERY new feature of Darkcoin) Darksend is mostly waiting for partners. Either be patient and wait (I usually let it run during the night) or go over to darkcointalk.org and ask there for people to mix with you. The 'Darksend Liquidity Providers' threads under https://darkcointalk.org/forums/official-announcements.54/ are a good starting point to ask other users.
