122  Other / Beginners & Help / Bounty 1 BTC for a new Friend - All my friends are ReTards on: August 09, 2011, 07:46:12 AM
I know the word 'retard' is not politically correct...but you never met my friends yet.

The only thing close to a programmer I know is my cousin who thinks 'programming' is hitting the shuffle button on his ipod.

I'm going crazy with all these maroons I must deal with everyday.  The only purpose they have for a computer is to check what drama their facecrack whores are up to.

I'm sick of it and am willing to pay for a friend who's not a reTard.

The friend I want should know something about anything.  Really...if you know something about anything, you may apply.  Even if you think you know something , you may still be eligible.

I'm specifically looking for someone who knows anything about python or who has ever been bitten by one cuz that would be cool too.

Please respond with your qualifications below or send an IM.

zomg...  you're really taking this one on the chin man after your other BS.

Wish you well.

Umm, sarcasm a little thick eh? But thanks for the well wishes. Wish you well as well Wink...bye

Honestly, I do wish you well.  No sarcasm intended.

HAHA  To fund nuclear arms huh?

Quote
In a little less than two years, the police said, the organizers made $6 million.

OMG $3 million per year.  They'll have an ICBM in no time!   ROFLMAO

You can't hug someone with nuclear arms!

But you might be able to cook something up on your stovetop...

126  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Porting Bitcoind to OpenBSD on: August 07, 2011, 09:37:09 PM
IDk...  but there must be a way.  This thread says there is already a port of bitcoind for OpenBSD:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=25501.0

Maybe send a post to the OP and see where you can get it.

I also heard Tom Williams also exclusively used OpenBSD.  There's a few people looking for him.  If you find him, let us know.  Smiley
127  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How To Automate Bitcoin Payments For Website Sales?? on: August 07, 2011, 08:39:48 PM
I thought Josh was talking about the fact that the only authorization is your IP address:

Quote
All HTTP notifications are sent with the POST method from the IP 46.4.90.208.

You should check the request IP in your controller to ensure the notification actually comes from us.
...
Quote

Someone might be able to forge a 'payment sent' request to your user's website by simple spoofing your IP address since it appears there is no authentication or token or anything sent in the POST request itself to prevent a fake payment acknowledgement.

An IP address spoofing explanation is here:
http://www.shaadiya.com/ask/2007/06/15/how-to-spoof-ip-address-hackers-view-and-the-way-to-protect-sites-with-this-fake/

If I could spoof your address I could send fake payment acknowledgements to all your users.

But, I'll be honest, I only took a quick look at your docs and I don't know your system nor have I tried it yet so maybe I'm just blowing smoke out my ass.

But if I'm right, you should probably fix that.

issues worth noting.

any ideas on how to fix this issues?

maybe you could send me an encrypted password along with the other information.
on my side once i can check the password and know its not a fake

You need to sign the messages using a secret that only the sender and receiver knows.

You can do this by concatenating all the data you send into one long string then add a secrect code to the end of the string.

Then you do a SHA256 hash on the string and send the hash with the data.

The person on the other end who receives the data can do the same procedure ... concatenate all the data, add the secret, then get a hash.

If the sender's hash == the enduser's hash then the data must have come from the sender because only you and the sender should know the secret.

The secret is never sent to the receiver in the transaction.  Only the hash of data+secret is sent.

For further protection, add a timestamp to the data to ensure a unique hash will always be created.  The receiver can also check this timestamp to ensure it is a recent transaction.

For further protection against 'replay' attacks, the user can store all the hashes in a DB and reject any attempts to use the same hash twice.

129  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: wud u buy windows 7?? on: August 07, 2011, 05:55:30 AM
The quick answer would be 'no'.

Firstly, I use linux...enough said there.

And second, no offense intended, but I don't do business with people who use 'kidspeak' in their ad copy.  I only do business with people who can show that they respect their customers by communicating in a professional manner.  I would much rather do business with someone in broken English...at least they try.

And 3rd, build up some reputation in the forums, then offer your product in the marketplace section.  There are severe trust issues with any on-line marketplace, and the unique characteristics of bitcoin make this more so.

IMHO, I believe that an exchange should keeps its basic functionality simple.

If you wish to create complex order situations, then you should have access to an API and build a bot with the functionality and algorithms you desire.

I think that placing orders with money you do not yet have would skew the market depth.

I could place a buy order for 10 million btc at 7.00 each...and who could tell if that was fake or not?
131  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: It's me, Skyliner on: August 07, 2011, 02:31:56 AM
I do wish you luck in getting your funds back via a PP chargeback.

But, I fear you won't have much success.

In this circumstance, you would have to say your account was hacked to do a chargeback.

That's how the scam buyers get their chargebacks...they simply claim their PP account was hacked and the transaction was unauthorized.  In your case, you authorized the transaction.

Sorry to see this happen.  Best of luck.

Hmm...

I wanted to try the site, but apparently firefox 4 and 5 have websockets disabled because it could be a security threat.

Get Chrome

From what I've read so far, it's not the browser that's the problem...it's the protocol.  Or rather it's how 'transparent proxies' are vulnerable to cache exploits that don't handle the protocol properly.

I can edit my firefox config and enable it, but more research is needed before I will.

I have the same card.

My gpu temp went to 143 degrees!

Not recommended for mining.

'downloading' to do a 'survey'?  For bitcoins?

Keep it up and you will have more viruses than a crack whore.  Smiley

If you can't mine, and don't want to buy bitcoins, you can put a product or service for sale in the marketplace.

Even if you think you don't have any skillz, you can still advertise yourself as a beta tester or some such thing.

136  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Php script to display ASK price on a website on: August 06, 2011, 06:51:40 AM
You need PHP 5 >= 5.3.0 to use this function.

There are some workarounds here:

I'm sure the site is safe, but I don't really understand the websockets technology enough yet, so me thinks I will keep it disabled for now.

You bought bitcoins from a website that only has the word "HELLO" for  a home page?

Maybe they are just doing maintenance....

Your email was hacked:

Quote
1) This person has been regularly logging in from a different IP address (193.104.186.80). Every time I logged in, I would get sent an email to confirm my login becuase I was logging in from a different IP address. How come I didn't get these emails when HE logged in?

You were not getting them because the hacker was deleting them from your inbox every time he was active.

Quote
2) After discovering the first theft, I changed all passwords and PINs to do with LR, and I did not leave them anywhere. I never used my keyboard to type them out so a key logger could not have got it.

Fine...you changed all your LR passwords...but not your email password?
