121  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What are some ways you can think bitcoin won't succeed? on: March 09, 2015, 03:57:31 PM
Biggest threat to bitcoin is rules and regulations that the gov will put into place. They probably wont do it on purpose but they will stifle adoption. I think merchants not accepting it is another problem and we could see some shady lobbying from credit card companies.

snip trolling.

Let me get this straight. Are you seriously accusing all/most users of bitcoin of pedophilia? I hope not. That's a serious charge, and wildly without basis. Criminals use all forms of currency, and it makes no more sense to blame the currency than to blame hammers because someone once used one to commit murder. It's just money (or a store of value, or whatever you want to call it); there's no justification in making wild, sweeping charges.

Maybe you've been hurt directly or indirectly by someone; if so I am sorry for you, and hope you can find forgiveness and healing. But posts like this are really out there and will not help you (unless you are trying to get on a record number of Ignore lists.)

He's a troll. Ignore him like pretty much everyone else does around here. Surprised he hasn't been banned et.
122  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: In 2015, faucets are bad for bitcoin on: March 09, 2015, 03:54:24 PM
I see a lot of people claiming that faucets are good for people who are new to bitcoin. Can anyone explain how it is so , because currently ,faucets pay out a very small amount, and you cann't really have a good introduction to bitcoin by just making one or 2 transactions of the TX fees with it.

I think it is a good intro lesson to Bitcoins and how they work.  What I mean by this is it helps people see how you have an address, how to collect from an address, how the transactions work, the value of what Bitcoin is actually worth and it isn't very stressful.  Try teaching Bitcoin to someone who knows very little about computers, it isn't the most easy thing to tell them what an address is, how to look up transactions on Blockchain, and how to see the balance of your wallet without them actually doing it, it is simply a learning tool

I think it's also a good lesson for them to realize that you don't get much for free in this world, especially not without working for it. I agree faucets can have their place and are useful to get to grips with bitcoin but they'd be better of using that time doing something else. You could probably earn more on this forum from signature campaigns but you could also do small tasks or jobs in the real world and buy bitcoin directly for the cash you make.
123  Other / Off-topic / Re: Are you spending your Bitcoin? on: February 23, 2015, 02:18:55 PM
so much . i believe it pricewill be backat 500 this year
so impatient and gentleman

Actually, the current price is no reason not to spend bitcoins.
You can always spend and then immediately buy back from an exchange.

Some people don't have the luxury to do that. I think it's a good idea to spend btc and buy back when you do but it's a tedious process and most would just rather spend fiat and hold their btc in the hope it will rise.
124  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Andreas Antonopoulos said Give Bitcoin Two Years on: February 10, 2015, 07:25:29 PM
Personally I'd say give bitcoin give more years, but I don't think a lot of people will want to hear that or even wait that long. I think the price will have risen considerably within 2 years and the block halving should make coins scarcer but it's still going to take a while for big merchants and the general public to get involved.

Coins being scarcer means nothing without demand.
Let's just hope in 2 years there is a breakthrough in adoption.

Hopefully there will be much more demand in a couple of years time. I think there will be.

I'll give it 5-10 years or even more. Bitcoin has built a new paradigm for trading and even for living.
So many things in science fictions have come into being. God knows what role bitcoin will play in future human life.

I think bitcoin will see a several fold gain within 2 years, within five it will have gone to a few thousand and hopefully within ten it will be very mainstream and the price will be ridiculous. Of course this is all wishful thinking, however.
125  Other / Off-topic / Re: Will Ulbricht Get A Life Sentence? on: February 10, 2015, 07:16:26 PM
After Ross Ulbricht was criminally charged, will he get the life sentence?

Ross Ulbricht, will he get the life sentence?

What will be his next move? Will he appeal his case?

I think they will take into account who he is and the number of people protesting against the case.  I dont think he will get as much as 30 years.

Who is he? I don't think being the creator and operator of one of the largest drug markets in the world is going to do him any favours. Even things like being his first offense likely wont count for much. These are all very serious crimes he is accused of. He'll be very lucky if he ever sees freedom again or not at least until he's an OAP.
126  Economy / Services / Re: Bitstarz.com January Signature Campaign – up to 0.1 BTC and more per month on: January 21, 2015, 07:58:31 PM
Any spots open? My last campaign just ended today, and am looking for another.

No they're all taken for this month. Bitmixer is open and with weekly automated  payouts as well or you can check the signature overview thread in service discussion for others but bitmixer looks to be the best option currently.

Maybe I got the reason for the delay!
Right now there are too many signature campaigns to choose with and if stunna jumps in then the competition between campaigns will get tougher and will lead to rise in pay per post rate(like it happened in updown.bt's time). Stunna doesn't want to pay a FM@0.001BTC/post(yeah competition will make stunna to raise prices to this level at this time) and so stunna is delaying.

I very much doubt it has anything to do with that and there's not that many at the moment. Most are closed apart from bitmixer I think. I also don't think there's much competition that could match PD right now either, but I'm sure their rates will be the best. Looking forward to it if it ever comes regardless.

Oh, no, trust me, there is competition that could easily match and surpass PD's right now.

I wouldn't be so sure of that but the competition would be nice. I don't think many people would be able to compete with the 50btc budget if that is indeed what is still happening or if they could how long would they last? PD seems to be the only campaign that has stuck around in some capacity. They seem to cum and go every other month with a few ever surpassing that.

Or find someone dumb enough to sell you them on here Grin.

130  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-01-20] MB - Former FBI Agent: Case Against Ulbritch 'as Strong As It Gets' on: January 21, 2015, 04:22:31 PM
From the case update I heard on Free Talk Live tonight, who has activists embedded in the court room as it is, the judge isn't allowing any testimony about Karpeles being DPR in the court so, again, part of Ross' defense is being sabotaged yet once more in plain sight. No doubt this case has gotten 'stronger' since he was arrested. The goal posts have kept moving and the referees/judge isn't on his side. And, certainly the discovery process as written by the judge isn't on his side either.

I'm not sure it's being sabotaged. It just sounds like a bullshit excuse from Ross. If he had anything concrete on Karpales they would've presented or released it. He's just desperately clutching at straws and regardless of your opinion of him it's his own fault he's in this position. Like the article mentions the caught him in the act redhanded.
131  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Feathercoin 0.8.7.0 Released - The NeoScrypt Update - Hardfork block 432,000 on: January 21, 2015, 03:58:48 PM
FTC will be removed form btc-e by 1 February.

https://btc-e.com/news/207

Didn't they announce that last time then renege? I've still actually got some ftc on btce so I guess I'll have to log on and get it off (not that it's worth much now anyway). What exchanges actually still deal in ftc?
132  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do you think Ponzi affect the price of bitcoin ? on: January 21, 2015, 03:56:00 PM
No. The only thing ponzis effect are the bitcoin balances of the idiots who gamble on them. Bitcoin ponzis barely make a blip in the grand scheme of things.
133  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2015-01-20 CA- Government Should Not Be Involved When It Comes To Creating Money on: January 21, 2015, 03:53:49 PM
Not sure how I feel about this. I guess I'm on the fence about whether or not they should be involved in some form, but I don't think the current way the monetary system works (if you can call it that) is fair or ran the right way, but I fear some sort of involvement would always be inevitable. It's not like they're ever going to willingly give up their power any way.
134  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Free service movie request/collector on: January 21, 2015, 03:40:20 PM
So you want to set up a service to watch movies legally or illegally? There are plenty of sites that do both of these things already. Also, what does this have to do with bitcoin? Will bitcoin be involved?
135  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Need an Update Price for My Sales on: January 21, 2015, 03:34:14 PM
You want to sell them on here? Just state the price in fiat value and you dont have to worry about price fluctuations then.
136  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can't understand the next block halving and it's impact on the price. on: January 21, 2015, 03:33:18 PM
Hello,

Can someone easily tell me what is the next block halving that will occur in 2016/2017 and it's impact on the price.

- What is the speculation about the price after the next halving occur ?

Thank you.

Nobody can say. It depends on many factors. I think basic supply and demand should follow and the price should go up but to what is relative and depends on factors at the time. Bitcoins could be worth much more or much less than what they are worth now and at the time of the halving demand for them could be up or down. One thing I do know is its going to be an exciting time to see what does actually happen.
137  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Am I Missing Something, Why Make Receiving Bitcoins Difficult? on: January 21, 2015, 03:30:24 PM
Contrary to popular belief bitcoin is very simple to use. In fact, I find it to be as simple as using paypal and even easier than setting up online banking. I think bitcoin seems confusing and scary to the general public but this will change over time.
138  Other / Politics & Society / Re: U.S. kills 50 prisoners of ISIS in air strike on: January 21, 2015, 03:26:46 PM
I saw someone say the bigger terrorist is always the one with the bigger weapon. How very true but sadly many people don't see it. I don't know how these cowards piloting these planes and drones can sleep at night. Do they just shrug their shoulders when this stuff happens?

I wonder if that one can be called a battle won or a battle lost
The only condolence for those prisoners is that it was collateral damage
At the same time ...

How is that a condolence?
139  Economy / Speculation / Re: Apple paid $3.2billion for Beats on: January 21, 2015, 03:23:23 PM
Maybe Dr Dre can invest some of that money into bitcoin or bitcoin infrastructure? How much did Dre actually get out of these billions? If he the first hip-hop billionaire yet?
140  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Publishing cartoon of Mohammed was an act of provocation, says MI6 ex head on: January 21, 2015, 03:21:20 PM
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/charlie-hebdo-publishing-cartoon-of-prophet-mohammed-was-an-act-of-provocation-says-ex-head-of-mi6-9991132.html

"The publishing of the Charlie Hebdo cartoons of  the Muslim prophet Mohammed was an act of provocation, showing a lack of respect of other peoples’ religion in the West and the backlash which came should have been expected, the recently departed head of MI6 has stated.

I don't think we have to respect others religious beliefs do we? If someone disrespects you or says something you don't like; tough titty - learn to deal with. Protest if you have to, but don't murder people. And provoked them in what way? Into being offended? We cannot censor opinions just because of the threat of someone being provoked into murder. That's giving in to terrorism.
