122  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 15-Year-Old Makes $100,000 on Bitcoin on: June 30, 2014, 03:59:40 AM
It would of been a bit better if he actually earned the first $1000. He took a gamble with the money his grama gave him and he got lucky. Nothing really to be impressed about. You wouldn't be impressed if Dank gambled some money that he borrowed and won enough to pay back the loan and buy a mansion with 150 bathrooms. There isn't much difference. I'm not really that impressed.

The site isn't that great and paying instructors to teach people will cost a lot more than hes expecting. He is 15 years old and hasn't got a degree etc so people would be less likely to want to be taught by him. Also this type of site has been done by experts so he has a lot of competition and only a 100k investment.....very difficult.

He took the time to learn and study bitcoin. Most people will just brush it off in the early days and called it a scam.

And he has the balls to invest in something he know and he has a vision to see the potential of bitcoin. He also has an exit strategy and know what to do with his profit.

Most of the late comers on this forum. Do they have the balls, vision and exit strategy?
123  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Free BTC at MIT on: June 30, 2014, 03:53:26 AM

I would be interested to know if the bitcoin is sold/traded for something or if it is just held

I wrote a brief paragraph pointing out the history of BTC values and what they may or may not do in the future.
It sounds like you got him a lot more then $250 worth of bitcoin. From what it sounds like you gave him a vast amount of knowledge regarding bitcoin.

If enough young people get interested in using bitcoin then many more merchants will likely start to accept bitcoin as many companies look to trends of the youth as they have a lot of discretionary income (be it either from their own earnings or from their parents).

Young usually also mean gullible. And yes, if you enough gullible people join the currency revolution, it will happen.
124  Economy / Auctions / Re: Lucky Bitcoin Casino is being placed up for auction - Complete Working Casino on: June 30, 2014, 03:15:42 AM
What is the current revenue and profit for the casino?

Allow me to echo the "that word doesn't mean what you think it means" sentiment.

What Krugman said was conservative. If you're thinking "that is wrong krugman is a liberal", stop posting (and stop that thing where you remind yourself to breathe in and out)

I guess his prediction about bitcoin should be considered "conservative" too, based on his past track record then...

You are allowed to echo whatever you want  Cheesy

Just bet against him seeing his record. Chance of winning is high.

If you do not have a years supply of water, buy it now

so yoi think there is going to be a world war 3?

Obama and Russia are pushing for WWIII and ultimately their goal is to end the planet in a nuclear holocaust.  Obama has fired many military leaders, including those stationed in nuclear silos, and replaced them with his own people of choice.

Maybe you guys can start to see why it's so important that we assemble this music festival now.  If we ascend before our race is destroyed, then we can prevent that from ever occurring.

Obama and Russia want to destroy themselves in the process because?

An alien capable for space travel will most likely have the technology to wipe human out.

Praying is probably the only thing one can do and hope god/heaven exists.

132  Economy / Economics / Re: Capitalism and immorality on: June 14, 2014, 06:35:42 PM
So it's ethical to overcharge for a lamp, but unethical to overcharge for healthcare?

What is your definition of over charging?

Buyers don't buy based on price alone. You need to take trust, after sales service into account.
Let me rephrase the question. Is it ethical to overcharge for a lamp, but unethical to overcharge for healthcare?

The term "overcharging" cannot be easily defined. It is fair to allow people to make a profit off of the time and capital they invest in their business.

The only true way to "overcharge" someone for something is to charge a price that is above the market rate, but if you charged this much then you would not be able to sell your product/service.

What planet are you from that doesn't have salesmen?

Buyer also bear responsibility for buying over price cap for not doing their own homework.

Same reasoning for choosing the right doctor to trust and the right care provider.

With internet, people can find out which doctor is scum bag very fast if they do their homework.
133  Economy / Economics / Re: Quantitative Easing on: June 14, 2014, 06:30:18 PM
That is your notion of inflation, not the one you will read in most textbooks on economics.

"In economics, inflation is a sustained increase in the general price level of goods and services in an economy over a period of time.[1] When the general price level rises, each unit of currency buys fewer goods and services. Consequently, inflation reflects a reduction in the purchasing power per unit of money – a loss of real value in the medium of exchange and unit of account within the economy.[2][3] A chief measure of price inflation is the inflation rate, the annualized percentage change in a general price index (normally the consumer price index) over time.[4"

Sir, this is the worst, manipulative post i have ever seen. The above quote is from Wikipedia, BUT you have intentionally erased a line from the definition. The original looks like this:

"In economics, inflation is a sustained increase in the general price level of goods and services in an economy over a period of time.[1] It can be defined as too much money chasing too few goods.

YEP it is pretty clear that user: "Trading" is a douche Fed lapdog with no integrity.

QE IS INFLATION.

INFLATION IS BAD (no matter how try to justify it)

Banks, manufacturers, governments, currencies and everyone should be allowed to fail. In their wake better solutions will arise.

Look at Mt Gox. They sucked. They failed. Now better exchanges rule the landscape. Bitcoin and a truly free market will prevail.

Inflation in general is bad, but the opposite, deflation is much worse. With deflation people will wait until "tomorrow" when prices will fall, causing prices to fall even more, causing people to delay their purchases even longer. This results in a decreased level of economic activity.

Inflation needs to be kept at a low level but not so low that deflation is a threat.

If I am burdened by a large debt (mortgage, toxic MBS's, multiple trillions in national debt) then inflation is the manna from God. It will wipe away my debt by making it worth less.

If I am not burdened by debt (cash in bank, secure job, no mortgage) then deflation is the ants pants as prices decline and I can purchase goods when I believe the price is fair.

I know that mobile phones, TV's etc are going to be much better in the coming years but I still buy them. The model I buy will be much cheaper next year if not next month. I still buy because I want the item. The market would always find a bottom when enough people think it is fairly priced. Shit businesses loaded by debt fail and new ones replace them that figure out how to do things better. I'm not sure I believe that deflation is the devil like you're saying.

Deflation is bad because it leads to lower economic output. It often causes recessions and depressions.

Even if you are not burdened by debt (the security of your job is not relevant) then your income would likely go down or possibly go away and there is a greater chance you will be without work. Most people without debt still rely heavily on their income from working which would be hurt by deflation.

The security of my job is relevant as a secure job produces a regular paycheck. If you have a secure income in deflationary environments then your purchasing power increases as your income remains stable.

There is no way out of this QE mess without deflation. Japan has QE'd for 20 years and still cannot shake it (different scenario in some respects and some - Keiser particularly - even argue that QE begets deflation.)

But anyway, there is always room for conflicting opinions. I dont think there is a way to stop QE without deflation taking over, and it cannot continue indefinitely.

In a economy experiencing deflation, there tends to be less work available. Even if your job is "secure" today it is less likely to be secure during a time that an economy is experiencing deflation. You would also face the risk that your employer still needs you to work but cannot afford to pay you as much per hour (or per year) and were to cut your salary.

People need to be dynamic and change job to meet market demand. Not the other way around.

135  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is future of litecoin? on: June 14, 2014, 06:26:37 PM
Litecoin has no usage and no unique feature.

Depends. It depends that Litecoin staff will assume a good marketing team. If it happens, there is a good probability that Litecoin will rise Smiley

Is there any indication of this? Is there any indication that the people involved in Litecoin are doing anything at all?

It looks like their just content to sit on their hands and do nothing while the rest of the world passes them by.

I thought litecoin was alright back in 2011. I mean, hey, why not? Silver to bitcoin's gold. Alright. It's nice to have a back up with a different hashing algorithm. But now?

Time has proven litecoin developers are sitting on the ass and do nothing while the rest of the world passes them by.

138  Other / Politics & Society / Re: USA is getting adversely affected by Immigrants on: June 05, 2014, 09:41:54 AM
I blame the welfare state (wrought by selfishness and political pandering) and erosion of a free market, otherwise immigrants would add value. America is destroying herself. Sorry if I don't go more in-depth on substantiating this opinion.

Can you elaborate on what you mean though by 'erosion of culture'? Culture is a dynamic idea.

This.

Immigrant in the early days (18th to early 20th century) add value to the country. And they don't breed like rabbits.

Personal responsibility and saving were encouraged.

Not so any longer. Seen people abuse the marriage system, family relation to get their entire family into US. They take more than they give because of subsidy and freebie. And they abuse the credit system and commit tax fraud with no consequence.
139  Economy / Economics / Re: Worst bitcoin decision you've ever made? on: June 05, 2014, 09:33:46 AM
Biggest mistake is brushing it off when I notice it in 2010.

Thought bitcoin is ponzi.

Now that I finally understand free market and peer to peer technology, I know bitcoin is not a ponzi.

It is a game of musical chair.
