i think all the smaller chunk ask blocking walls are the same guy who was throwing up the two 1000 BTC walls earlier in the day.

Interesting, 2000 BTC seems like a big deal now. 2 months back they would've been snipped away like it's nothing.
122  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 29, 2014, 01:52:48 AM
Bitfinex will literally explode if we should break through 530$, their askside is paperthin, there are only about 1500BTC between 530$ and 580$ right now.

Exactly.  Creating the walls took too many coins out of higher asks.
Break the wall and we cruise to upper 500's.
I took a small bite at 510, but no one followed.  At this point (505), if someone buys 250 coins to get the ball rolling, I am sure the wall will either will run or get eaten.  505 feels very cheap.

It does. It's just that noone seems to be interested in buying anymore, which makes me nervous.

Dear lord. I think the Fed and the ECB will call Ripple labs for tips soon!

now i feel bad for ripple pumper dude that comes on here every once in a while.

He was absent for quite a while after the big crash (which happened when one ex-developer announced he was going to dump a lot)

he came by the wall thread every once in a while, to remind us how cool ripple is, he will be dearly missed.

anyone remember his name?

mah87 I think: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=67181

yes that is the ripple pumper dude, i'm 99% sure.

he must be HODLING, ripple isn't crashing.

When ripple just came out, I posted a message in the ripple forum to get some free XRP. Totally forgot about it until that dude started messaging me asking to exchange my XRP for a ridiculously high price. That's when I knew to get out immediately and did.. I feel kinda sorry for him.

Looking pretty good short term. I think Bitfinex is dragging the others up as people re-leverage.

Finally some volatility again!
Yeah, turns out that Bitfinex actually can lead the market nowadays. Even the Chinese are following.

I think the market is really trading different from how it used to be. Maybe a certain class of traders packed their bags and left after the MtGox fraud? It just seems that there's no more real weight (as in volume and velocity) behind bounces after a sell-off. I'd love to see some of that come back..
I think what you're looking for may be Willy.

Didn't Willy just buy at a constant rate? All I'm asking for is to get more of the panic-dumping-and-then-reversing back, lol. But yeah, since the MtGox closure it all seems really bearish.

Bitcoin rallies died when Willy went out of service.

We had a rally in the 2nd half of May

sentiment feels pretty washed out.

It's been weeks and weeks of selling. When will it finally end?

Short CMG here and sweatin'

question is, when did you put it on?

It's a short vol option position. I'll get assigned above 675.

Big news. How much longer can the price continue to ignore these developments?

We saw good news for months now but price barely changed. I think it become positive news tolerant and won't move much.

IMO there's a chance for an explosion in volatility again. Traders attract more traders like a virus.

You cannot short what you cannot borrow.

What would you charge to loan out your bitcoin, in USD terms?  I would very much worry about getting it all back.

There is a hefty premium to pay for the right to get stuck short in a squeeze.

I've heard of the greater fool theory, but this would require the mother of all fools.  MoAF.

I can do it w options with defined risk.

Premium is going to be a bitch.

You can sell calls when IV is high.     Or buy put verticals.   Or sell call verticals.

Its only foolish if you don't know how to do it.   I take bearish positions all the time.   The only hard part is the timing.   But usually price crash harder than it goes up.   Escalator up elevator down type thing

There are some traders who mostly short or take bearish positions.   I think they're licking their chops to short bitcoin.  Its got all the ingredients

There's always somebody on the other side of your trade

Yup thats true.  I think what will happen is that it'll get pumped for 1-3 months while hedge funds build their short positions.  Then they use media to scare off retail and dump the price causing a crash.  It happens all time when there is a cult stock w irrational exuberance

Good luck with that. Let me remind you of NFLX lately, which has been a major headache for some shorters. Don't think you know something..

Here's the trade, for future reference:

so almost 133 BTC sold for $9798.99 each??

how is this not bigger news....

some eccentric whale testing the waters?  a drunk day trader?  time travelers from 2015? Wink

Bitcoinwisdom consolidates buys and shows the highest buy price. So even if out of the entire order only 0.0001 btc gets bought for $1 it would look like 133 btc got bought at $10k.

Do we know when the first ETF will launch? I think that could be the thing to propel us to alltime highs.

GoPro went public last Thursday and increased >30% in a matter of 2 days. The stock market is still in full bulltard mode; I hope bitcoin can IPO while it lasts..

Is this a serious statement or are you just being funny?

I'm serious, obviously I'm referring to the fund, not bitcoin itself..

The fund (ETF) isn't going to "IPO."

Whatever dude
