121  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: October 06, 2015, 05:11:03 PM
Huh, only now checked that BTC is rising (good) and XMR getting cheaper (good)!

Wait, I just woke up and check the price and it says it rose in price? Idk if the app on my phone is getting the correct prices or not, but I'm seeing $0.42?

We're talking xmr/btc, you are looking at xmr/usd. If btc/usd gains more than xmr/btc goes down, xmr/usd will be up.

Hey man, thanks for your work on this. I've checked this thread a gazillion times.

I was wondering whether the historic NAV's are plotted somewhere?

Remember kids, short sellers have to buy back in at some point Smiley

My take is that the price of Monero will be driven by the long term fundamentals rather than by traders who buy and sell, at a profit or loss, on a 10% spread.

The first indicator will be the market response to the updated official tagged binaries when they come out.

Weird if it happened the same week CK is officially released. What is the estimate on the binaries?

The timetable is here: https://forum.getmonero.org/4/academic-and-technical/303/a-formal-approach-towards-better-hard-fork-management

We'll have to wait a little longer though:

Great site, best of its kind.

One minor request, would it be possible to add the historic (pre-july '14) prices of xmr? The current ath is not displayed correctly (0.01 instead of 0.0054)
126  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 14, 2015, 09:09:27 PM
My last post was a bit more hopium than reality.

Having said that, I think that we're looking at an unprecetended opportunity for buying monero at an extremely attractive valuation, right here and right now.

Some facts:
- We are facing an ever decreasing emission rate, which should, with exposure/interest being unchanged result in higher plateaus.
- Exposure/interest is not unchanged; in fact we've added 300 + reddit subscirbers in the last couple of weeks. There's multiple topics from new users inquiring about xmr both in the subreddit as in the various bitcointalk topics.
- We've seen multiple topics in r/bitcoin and even the conference regarding fungability/privacy. The familiair r/bitcoin hostility towards alts seems to be less and less directed towards monero
- We've had numerous tweets/retweets due to active involvement of the community.
- Bid size increased from 120~ to 200+, whereas asks went from 420k+ to 300k.
- Charts have been painted red for the last month or so, clearly someone wanting the charts looking less attractive.
- indicators also point to whales accumulating. Large dumps being absorbed, potential outbreaks being smothered.
- we were added to 2 other exchanges (cryptsy and a NZ/Australian one)
- 2 developers, as well as lots of translation efforts have been succesfully (and swiftly) been funded
- MASSIVE improvements on the codebase have been done, LMDB, 0MQ etc etc(props to the devteam, esp noodledoodle but everyone who contributed)
- Since the majority of users doesn't compile, or maybe doesn't even try the beta, haven't experienced this incredible improvements yet. A tagged release is very near.
- the devteam has proved to be in this project for the long run, and not some scammy snakeoil pump n dump team.

There's probably a dozen more bullets I could add. The fact is that both the fundamentals as well as the charts (technical) have never been so bullish, especially taking in consideration the current (old) price range.

There hasn't been a better and more obvious time in the entire existence of this project to get yourself a handful of these tokens. I know I sound bullish, but I also know I'm right. Strap on your fucking seatbelts people, this is it, the time is NOW.

in 3-4 weeks time a cup (from cup n handle) pattern has emerged which will (at the end of october) result a violent lift off into the 80's as the market tries to figure out the correct value/price of a moneroj.

Quick question: is the 'under the hood'-phase nearing its short term completion (it'll obv be an ongoing process) and does this imply that the GUI is now back in development?

I think dnaelor's post makes a lot of sense, would that be something to be incorporated in the official gui?

The ask-side on poloniex is pretty impressive at the moment, 424k an counting. 162k just to reach 0.0025. I'm glad I was blessed with strong hands, cause this could make one nervous.

Guys, really, please take this discussion elsewhere.

I come here to read Masterluc's TA. This rule used to be enforced and respected. For some reason this debate above has been going on multiple pages now. There's an enormous forum out there where you could and this is discussed in great lenght. Discuss all you want, just DON'T do it in this topic.

Any more?

Ive always been a fundamentals guy so i marvel at people who use technicals to ride the wave.

Nice price move for bulls to .0055-.006 range.

DEPTH:
80K XMR / 80 btc
67K XMR / 125 btc
56K XMR / 164 btc (today)

Crazy move on depth as the balance has moved from 50/50 XMR (in thousands) at rougly .003 to 25%/75% at double that.

We'll use this ratio as a measuring stick for later price moves (EG: Looking for something like 25k XMR / 300 BTC at a price of .0001 would be continued bullish movement. If it doesn't keep up not a good sign.)

CHART:
Stayed above EMA except one dip. strong bullish trending.

HASH/DIFF:

Jump to 7.4 mm from 5.5 over past 2-3 days. Continued adoption.

We'll see what happens.

Can't find the link for Mintpal voting but currently #4.

Speculation on GUI miner and Mintpal voting seem to be current drivers. Anyone got anything else upcoming folks are interested in with Monero in a nutshell?

Oh I remember those days... Smiley

You are all early adopters:
https://twitter.com/XMRpromotions/status/628904857659834368

10 years from now we can all look back and remember the time that we were able to envision what Monero would one day become

Really like what you're doing, Bronero. Keep it up!

If you pm me / add a donation address in your sig I will transfer you some.

1W MACD turning green would be interesting, 7 more days...  Grin

Edit: this is also the deadline for btc's cup 'n handle to trigger (if).

That would be an epic moment for us Monerians

Isn't a private key way longer than an address?

This is probably wrong, but my though process:
No of bitcoin addresses = X^length

length = 32
x is no of characters. Since you have alphabet + capitals + numbers i would say X = 62.

It has to start with either a 1 or a 3 though, so 2 * 62^31, right?

Would the onero community be interested in a book on its first year history similar to this book:

http://goo.gl/2DblJ5

Hehe, the last year there has been enough drama to start a series already. Let alone the technicals.

What is the offer here? I guess you could pitch it as an idea and make a proposal on the forum at getmonero.org. Lots of succesful crowdfundings have taken place there the last weeks.
140  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: August 02, 2015, 11:10:19 AM
That 100 btc wall at 22,5 is such a juicy offer for someone wanting to establish a large position at a good price. If you're looking to buy for 100+ btc getting it sub 20 has proven to be extremely hard.

There was one time window last winter, but that ship has sailed now. All the recent moves under 20 were kind of shortlived and way too shallow to get anything meaningful.

If the newcomers, existing community and (day)traders can eat there way through the orderbook up to the wall at 22,5, I could foresee a sidelining whale taking the plunge and snap it up with a market order. We've seen this happen before.
