121  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] IQONIA - new transparent bitcoin cloud mining on: January 17, 2015, 08:00:45 PM
Hi,

Would be good to have a transparent company!

how much TH/s do you have?

did you buy the equipment under IQONIA name? It would be good to get bitmain to confirm you have a large amount of equipment.

What is your current mining address?

Your prices are quite expensive compared to some other cloud mining providers, Any chance of lowering? See MineThatCloud for example currently at 0.15€/GHs compared to your 0.48€/GHs.

I like the fact you let customers choose where to mine.

Thanks for answering the above questions.
122  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Proof that MineThatCloud is a Ponzi on: January 16, 2015, 04:50:24 PM
Incorrect, We have our mining address with funds in.

So unless you know that, Your argument is flawed. We are not a ponzi and will prove that to our customer base.

We dont have to prove that to random people who wont stop harrasing us. Please leave us alone

I expect more from a hero member.

You are paying your customers directly with money that your customers have sent you. The proof is in the blockchain for everyone to see.

You are paid by a customer with address 12wmRSVf1e6MTpmvGuUxreEXxbaRHkepuC and a fraction of those coins are returned to the customer with that address after only passing through 2 other addresses.

Lets start to talk about who else "MIGHT" be a ponzi without any proof.

There is no "might be a ponzi" about it. They are paying new customers with the money from old customers.

What do you suggest they do, Have a seperate pay in account? Surely once the BTC has been sent to them its theirs to pay out?

if they carry on paying out, surely its not a scam?
123  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Proof that MineThatCloud is a Ponzi on: January 16, 2015, 04:15:39 PM
The payments were made form 1844aNo5gAssVSmUmLwk6qG61uBNdQswH3 as shown in the payout history on their [website](http://www.minethatcloud.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=18)

0.0087 BTC was sent from 12wmRSVf1e6MTpmvGuUxreEXxbaRHkepuC to 1JgxteZWCuZLu4FnPUWv3Jxgj89QkFXLvX which sent 0.0087 BTC to 1844aNo5gAssVSmUmLwk6qG61uBNdQswH3 which sent 0.0001402 BTC to 12wmRSVf1e6MTpmvGuUxreEXxbaRHkepuC.

In other words, payouts are funded from new customers buying contracts.

hmm. Lets be fair here.

MineThatCloud are still paying out and i'm sure with your stance on their operation that you have not invested? So the fact they are proving their payments and have not scammed you.... I dont see need for this thread? It is pure speculation.

Lets start to talk about who else "MIGHT" be a ponzi without any proof. What you have posted is not proof when you read MineThatCloud's statement. They are not obliged to show any information to you, especially if they feel you are "harrasing" them.

I can see because you are not on terms with this service you have also left bad trust.

Another case of trust abuse in a rediculous system. Dont let your high post count get to your head.

125  Other / Meta / the trust system is rediculous and needs to be replaced on: January 16, 2015, 03:28:53 AM
Hi All,

As you see I am a fairly new user at bitcointalk, Althought I have been mining bitcoin since 2010.

I think the bitcointalk trust system is rediculous and allows high post users to abuse the system. Even if that "high post" user is wrong or doesnt have any evidence.

I am currently watching a thread, the operator seems nice and genuine, The service has yet to do anything wrong at all but still the user has minus trust because 3 high post users have left the operator bad trust without evidence. What happened with "innocent until proven guilty"? the bitcointalk trust system is a system that uses morals from the 1800's.

Just because a user is able to post 600+ posts does not mean they are not a raving idiot. As I have seen many times. especially the users who left bad trust to the operator, I seen them posting PONZI and SCAM in size 40 font red letter and then they wonder why their post gets deleted and then complain and leave bad trust.....

I agree we need to let newbies know if someone is "suspicious" but ruining the trust rating of someone that could be genuine is going to effect their business. Is that the way the Bitcoin community want to be seen?

To be honest I am a very good PHP dev. But as much as I want to help the community and write some good software.. I know as soon as I post it (open source) I will be called a scammer, its just a joke a complete f...ing joke.

The trust system needs to be replaced before genuine people like me stop developing software and stop opening services because they are too afraid of what might happen to their reputation.

Not everyone is a scammer, maybe we should give the benefit of the doubt to most people and deal with the scammers seperately.

There must be a better system than this.

Another good incentive here..
With the free trial things have started brightly

Has anyone made anything from the affiliate scheme yet??

I really think bitcoin value is gonna go real high again so I hope you do stick to it.

I like this Tongue I think people are right to be wary and think things through but I hate the people thinking they are always right, every single new idea and service on here you see the same people posting the same things...

Agreed, Good incentive, Its a very nice incentive.

Dang, here I was opening this wouldn't be a scam.

The "Good" in status is static - it doesn't check if it's actually good or not...
...
And when they delete my account it'll prove me right!

Your payout info kind of proves that. The average daily payout for 1 Gh at this difficulty is 1144 Satoshis yet these guys are paying out 1402 Satoshis while paying 0.26 $/kWh for electricity. Go and plug that electricity cost into a mining calculator and see what it says.

This information is incorrect. It uses PHP to check that we are using above 85% hash (due to fluxuation) Obviously PHP is a server side script so viewing the code in your browser will only show you the result PHP grabbed. This page is dynamic. If we use below 85% PHP will grab <font color="Red">Problem</font>. And why would it provde you right if we deleted your account? Please get your facts right before posting slander.

Please read this so you can improve your understanding before posting rubbish - http://stackoverflow.com/questions/11144641/php-wont-work-in-my-browser

This is Correct, You wont see PHP code in a Client Side Browser as PHP is Server Side Code.

Wont turning of miners just drop the price even further though?
129  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My BTC on: January 14, 2015, 01:07:46 AM
I would hold.

Saying that I recently purchased some Cloud Mining Hash at http://www.minethatcloud.com/, That turned out to be a good investment.

I can assure you that we are the most professional and sturdy and will be here is 15 years time!

Ok then answer these simple basic questions:

1. Show the bitcoin address that you are mining to so we can verify you have actual mining hardware running.
2. Show your business registration.
3. Where are your Terms of Service and Contract details?

Good Point, This seems like a scam.

I must say though, I'm sure to run a service they don't have to register a business, even if they were legit or not..
131  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Advice for Fast-track to Crypto-Dev on: January 09, 2015, 11:29:20 PM
Once you finished your C course you should stick with C until you have grasped the language and have some good experience. There is a difference between learning the basics and being experienced. I wouldnt suggest jumping languages either. C is a great language and is the fundemental to most other languages/scripting languages.

Have a look at some code, especially bitcoin/altcoin code, Its C++ but you will recognise alot of statments, conditionals and loops from C.

Look at the cbitcoin library that was recently released.

Experience is the key.

133  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: BitGoogle.net on: January 02, 2015, 01:54:26 AM
You're using Google registered trademark in domain , logo and using their custom search

Right, I've actually had advice from some lawyers on some websites regarding this matter.

1) Google the name can be used by anyone in the eyes of the law as long as I am not implying that I have a relationship with this company, which clearly I don't.
2) Right, I am not allowed to use their logo... which unless you don't know what the Google logo looks like, I am not.
3) Yes I am using their custom search, They allow people to do so, so as a person I can.

I claim on the website to have no relationship with them.
134  Economy / Service Announcements / BitGoogle.net on: January 01, 2015, 06:56:01 PM
Hi,

I have noticed the amount of absolute nonsense that is displayed when you search for specific Bitcoin related searches in google due to the way the search engine works.

Therefore I have create http://www.BitGoogle.net

Why BitGoogle.net?

Google allows me to create a custom search engine specifying "safe" domains, Like bitcointalk.org for example. You will find no Scam/Ponzi sites added to BitGoogle.net only legitimate sites deemed legitimate by YOU, Everytime I add a domain to the list I will share it in this thread first to see what people think, If it safe, it will be added, if its a possible Ponzi it will go in the sinbin!

BitGoogle.net plans to be a safe Bitcoin related search engine for everyone to use and get the results that are most relevant to you.

Hope you enjoy it.

http://www.BitGoogle.net

P.S. I have checked into laws regarding the use of the Google Name, due to me being an individual and not a company the use of the Google name is not infringing any copyright unless I deem to make money from the site, Which I do not.

I have asked this question on many forums and the same answer has came up many times.

Thats really helpful. I will look into tx signing. Thanks for the ideas.

Most welcome - the ideas are the easy part (it is only in the coding that the blood, sweat and tears will appear). Smiley

If anyone has any bright ideas which could help this venture It would be really helpful.

If the private key(s) are encrypted client-side then also tx signing can be done client-side meaning that the server would never be able to actually spend any BTC from any client (the main issue is whether the clients can trust the .js they are running).

Thanks CIYAM,

Thats really helpful. I will look into tx signing. Thanks for the ideas.
138  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Hosted bitcoind services on: January 01, 2015, 01:29:12 PM
I'm sure blockchain.info are able to access my "online wallet" for instance, they do own the hardware.

Although they have had some rather bad recent screw ups, the wallet design itself (assuming no flaw), means that the private keys are encrypted "client-side" via .js (so they cannot steal your funds from having access to the server alone).

You should keep this in mind if you are thinking of providing any sort of "wallet service".

Really, That's actually a good idea.

You see, I imagine most people will use it for Gambling Sites/Pools (I need to think about implementing stratum and what effect it will have on the server), Which of course both will hold funds.

I was wondering if there was any Linux feature that I could run that would stop me being able to "su" to peoples accounts without asking for their password, instead of dumping me straight into that user.

If anyone has any bright ideas which could help this venture It would be really helpful.
139  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Hosted bitcoind services on: January 01, 2015, 01:14:56 PM
I had a similar idea of doing this as well, there were several projects I was working on and getting a copy of a blockchain up and running quickly was a pain.

I'd actually recommend dedicated systems rather than 1 dedicated system. That might be more expense than you were willing to try it for. You might want to consider offshore dedicated hosting which is inexpensive, but you'll have to pass that cost onto your customer if they are willing to pay for it. If you run too many daemons on your box, your disk I/O will slow down to a crawl, the blockchains are horrible at I/O efficiency.  Consider using a storage system that uses data dedupe as well as SSD caching, like a NetApp. An alternative would just be to use all SSD storage.

1 - Customers will have to trust you at certain points, you ultimately own the hardware. Turning over the root pw is about a good as you can get for them. Anything less and people will squawk because you've still got ownership.

2 - Tell your customer to turn on logging, you personally want no responsibility whatsoever, the minute you take on responsibility for something, you own it. Put the onus on the client, if they want logging, then help them do it, otherwise forget it. If someone reports something to you in terms of abuse, then cut your customer off.  Just get a really good terms of service built for yourself. Log everything else, switches, firewalls, ups's etc to a syslog server.

3 - If you get a report of abuse, suspend their access and cut them off if necessary.  Same as if they fail to pay you at some point.

4 - No, but you should be ready for shenanigans and ddos.

5 - You should have a top notch firewall and put yourself behind some DDOS protection. Get your systems scanned by qualys and adopt a security standard, like PCI compliance. Setup monitoring, alerting, and out of band access for yourself too.

Thanks Cloverme, Really thorough answer, exactly what I was looking for. Due to working with firewalls on a daily basis for work I actually have a cluster I can use and 2 x Dedicated servers, Maybe I will have to purchase some form of NAS.iSCSI for the IO work, I have DDoS protection and OOB Access (pushkablue).

Good idea about the logging, You are right, It should not be my job to "look after" others peoples bitcoins, in case they set weak password etc, They need to have a level of responsibility themselves. As with any wallet/service you have. I'm sure blockchain.info are able to access my "online wallet" for instance, they do own the hardware.

Thanks again, You have given me a lot to think about.

140  Bitcoin / Project Development / Hosted bitcoind services on: January 01, 2015, 02:14:31 AM
Hi,

I was looking for some information and some solutions to hurdles I might face for my idea.

What I would like to offer

I would like to offer a hosted bitcoin daemon

Why

I see lots of people wanting to run scripts that require bitcoind on shared hosting but are unable to run the daemon themselves. I have a 4tb Dedicated Server I could host this on.

So, My Idea

User logs on to my website, sets up a daemon, with customised RPC username/pass, SSH Account with custom username/pass and customised RPC/P2P Ports they also have full access to edit their own bitcoin.conf and view their own "datadir". This will obviously cost a small fee (on a monthly basis), once confirmed I can get the scripts to setup the daemon, ssh user and send the information to the user via email.

However, I have already thought of some hurdles I will face.

1) As root, I would be able to "su" onto all these accounts, I don't want to be able to do this, I want to run a legitimate service, Is there any way I can stop this? I don't want people accusing me of stealing their bitcoins etc

2) Logging, I want to keep a log of what every SSH user does, a full audit log if you will to check if their are any accusations of stolen coins etc.

3) If the above is possible and I catch someone, How would I enforce it.

4) Is this just too much of a headache to even contemplate?

5) anything else I may face?

At the end of the day, I want users to trust my service and trust that I have all security measures taken care off

Thanks for any help you may provide.
