121  Economy / Goods / Re: Some Silver coins for sale on: November 23, 2012, 09:09:22 PM
This is what amazes people most when I introduce them to Bitcoin, that one can use it to buy gold and silver.  I used this fact to astound several relatives after lunch yesterday.

There are lots of variants from the Hostess version, so the Canadian one won't be anything special, but they might get more sales here than they would have before.

12 blocks and counting.  I think we're back!  Woot!

Edit: Oops, just noticed that two were orphans.  Sorry Doc.  Sad

whitephantom you are hashing 50 plus to my 6 or so.

 the numbers add up a lot quicker for you then me,
The numbers do add up quickly at 50GH with an unlucky streak (or a lucky one).  The last 4 days has been at least $100 worth of bitcoins less per day than normal.  I won't sweat it at all when everything's paid off, but I'm not there yet.

Hang in there, guys. Today 12 blocks and counting. Smiley
Yup, I'm liking today.  Smiley  Feeling more normal again.
125  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [2000 GH/s] BitMinter.com [Zero Fee, Hopper Safe,Merged Mining,Tx Fees Paid Out] on: November 21, 2012, 05:48:47 PM
luck has been terrible.
17th = 9
18th = 7
19th = 6
20th = 7

 that is 29 for 4 days. 44-48 would be normal. oh also 2 stales and 2 orphans for those same 4 days.
Thanks for the factual post.

I knew I felt like our luck was going badly, but seeing the actual numbers like that makes me feel sick.  Cry

I hope things average out over the next week before the block reward halves.

the force is not with us at the moment....

come on... some more blocks... reward drop comes soon
Yeah, our luck has been pretty bad lately. Sad

Wow...I was like WTF?  Hadn't heard that Hostess was shutting down!  Truly unbelievable.  Good thing I never cared much for twinkies!
128  Economy / Invites & Accounts / Re: [WTS] Torrent Private Trackers ( Invites / Account ) Huge List ! on: November 19, 2012, 03:51:03 PM
Aren't you worried about somebody buying an invite from you just to find out who you are on a particular torrent site to get you banned?  Many of the sites you have listed explicitly prohibit the selling of invites and will ban you and your entire invite tree (up and down) for this sort of thing.
129  Economy / Goods / Re: Ebay Copper BTC on: November 19, 2012, 03:45:15 PM
I guess it's more like a medallion than a coin since there's no BTC value to it.  Still cool, though.
130  Economy / Digital goods / Re: *****Eve online ISK for Bitcoins***** on: November 19, 2012, 03:42:35 PM
Back when I played EVE, I had a great time.  In the end, though, I decided that it was only for people who didn't have enough stress in real life.  It is much more involved than other MMOs I've played.
131  Economy / Economics / Re: Permanent Loss of Bitcoins Over Time on: November 18, 2012, 06:14:49 PM
I got a friend into bitcoin mining with about 4GH/s of BFL Singles, but I didn't get around to explaining how the wallet worked.  Shortly after he started mining, he decided to reload Windows on the laptop that contained his Bitcoin client.  He assumed that his wallet was somehow web based and lost 3 BTC.  When I explained how everything works, he didn't show too much concern over the $30-ish and just started over.

I, however, was more upset, mostly with myself.  I spent several hours recovering his lost wallet and trying to get at the coins, but it was corrupt and I finally had to give up.  It wasn't the loss of the current value that bothered me, but what 3 BTC might be worth someday and how annoyed I'll be at the situation if that happens.

tl;dr: Losing bitcoins sucks because they might be worth a LOT more someday, amplifying one's regret over having lost them.
132  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS] 100% ORGANIC PURE VERMONT MAPLE SYRUP on: November 17, 2012, 07:10:46 PM
Wonder whatever happened to this.
Agreed.  Axilla, are you still selling maple syrup?  If so, I'm considering ordering some.
133  Economy / Digital goods / Re: *****Eve online ISK for Bitcoins***** on: November 16, 2012, 03:42:45 PM
I was very much into EVE Online about 7 years ago, so I'm curious. Tech level II was the best thing you could get.  Is Tech II obsolete now?  What's a PLEX?
134  Economy / Goods / Re: 10 oz Silver 2012 bullion, half pound o' silver giant ass coin 4 BTC on: November 15, 2012, 03:43:31 PM
I thought it was 4 bitcoins.  XD
That's what the title of the thread indicated to me. Say "for" to remove the ambiguity.
135  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS] 1 watt laser and safety glasses on: November 14, 2012, 11:09:36 PM
Thanks for the link.  I ordered one from the website. Sorry, but I prefer new since Chinese stuff may not last long, anyway.
Ok, this is new BTW.  Just picked it up.  Also, I might be willing to give a small discount to encourage to buy from me.
Ah...Sorry for jumping the gun on the website.  It's not letting me cancel the order, though.

A model number would be very helpful, or a link to the Chinese wholesale site.  1 watt is massive output for a laser.
138  Economy / Services / Re: I will hurt myself for bitcoins! on: November 14, 2012, 12:40:18 AM
If I sent you a non-lethal poison and a syringe, would you inject it?

It won't be fatal but I won't tell you the poison until once I watch you inject.

Willing to pay $2,000 in btc.
Some pharmaceutical company is probably paying you $5,000 to find a "volunteer" to let you do experimental research for them. Smiley
139  Economy / Services / Re: International Butterfly Labs Customers, Device Hosting Service in Oregon! on: November 14, 2012, 12:31:34 AM
I'm going to have BFL host my mini-rig SCs in their datacenter.  I haven't asked what they plan to charge, but I believe they're basing the service on Inaba's offering to host the original mini-rigs for $300/month per unit.  1140W for an FPGA mini-rig vs. 1500W for a mini-rig SC leads me to assume the pricing will be comparable.
140  Economy / Goods / Re: [CHEAP] 12 Months NETFLIX Gift Codes on: November 13, 2012, 06:38:14 PM
Do you know whether multiple codes can be stacked on the same account?
