Talk about a bad day to bring this topic up on.  Yesterday maybe but today, oh no  Grin
122  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Press Release about Halving Day on: November 28, 2012, 12:39:22 PM
Bitcoins soon require more work for less reward. Let's all go ahead and advertise this as.... progress?
From a personal standpoint I agree but from a community standpoint this is a good thing and press is not a bad idea only to show that the process is working as described.  If it did not then the whole effort would be in question.
123  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Mt. Gox deposit addresses always change? on: November 27, 2012, 05:10:40 PM
Yup my deposit to the old address went in succesfully

I wish they showed pending transfers like BTC-e does

I still have a deposit address that works almost going a year back, so no need to worry about them forgetting it lol
Ya I have wondered about this too and realized all the address work, new and old but I wounder why they do it?  I would think that the database housing this is just getting bigger and bigger.  I am sure the size is minimal but I am thinking what if something happens to the table due to some unforeseen glitch.

Just saying,
124  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Big Buyer on BitFloor on: November 27, 2012, 05:07:02 PM
Right now I see a $12.16 bid for 409 BTC at BitFloor.com. Earlier he was bidding for over 2,000 BTC. It's good to see a larger order coming back to BitFloor. I like that exchange and would like to see more activity there.
+1

Mtgox is good but so is bitfloor and competition is good for us all.  Having all your eggs in one basket usually ends up with a mess so right on to this buyer of bitcoins.
125  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Mobile car-based mining operation entirely possible on: November 27, 2012, 12:55:17 PM
Guys, I never proposed this to save money - I was thinking about the flexibility and the "cool-factor".
Not sure if you earn points with the "cool-factor" by mobile mining.  Interesting yes, cool no.  Now cool factor would be mobile mining that results in greater number of coins produce then can be done standing still.  Everyone here would be all over you and saying cool even though it is not realistic, or is it Mr. flux capacitor.
126  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Google Takes Aim at Cable Companies on: November 26, 2012, 02:07:48 PM
Google already works with the NSA.
Right that is my point, see all of us are enjoying the free low hanging fruit provided by Google because that helps them get NSA and other kinds of contracts that pay very large sums of money.  Google is no different then any other company and what is worse is that a majority of people are just following along thinking what a great group of open minded folks.  Just wait this dog will turn and bit you, it is not a mater of if but when.
127  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Google Takes Aim at Cable Companies on: November 25, 2012, 04:50:50 PM
Google wants to monopolize ALL your data.

For $120 per month you get...

- a phone, a pad, a laptop, a DVR, a router, all wifi'ed
- 100x faster internet
- 200 HD channels, + Netflix
- DVR records 8 shows at once
- 2 terabytes of storage on DVR
- no waiting all afternoon for a service call

http://fiber.google.com/about/

In the future it will become increasingly expensive to keep your behavior out of the NSA's http://www.narus.com databases.  That's a good thing.  When people start being called into court for "safety" hearings based on behavioral computer models, perhaps they will finally tell the Government to piss off.

So tell us something we don't know, if it is not Google then it is Dell or Apple followed by the weak Microsoft trying to control all content.  See the fiber they are putting in in Kansas kind of has me scared because they will develop something that is direct competitor to the current, open and basically free internet.  We will still have our old fashion internet but now we will have Google's internet which will be very fast and really provide for significantly different content that they will control the rules to.  Could you imagine no HTML 5 just some Google script that is only allowed to work on their system and nothing else.  Or some crazy board that checks your code before access to their web which will have a fee on top of the access fee.  They are not going to lay down all this fiber along with the money and not charge.

For once I am really glad that the feds are working on something that down the road we will be able to use and not allow Google a Monopoly the next type of internet.   Granted it will take some time before we get access and Google's solution will be better but I am sure it will be free just like the first version.

http://energy.gov/articles/three-doe-labs-now-connected-ultra-high-speed-network-10-times-faster-commercial-internet

Oh and on an NSA note, who do you think is hosting email and other Cloud solutions for a large number of government agencies and has contracts in place with various branches of governmental, Google!  Since AT&T rolled over like a trained dog during the 9/11 search what makes you think Google would not do the same and basically build the next NSA system?   Look up Google’s government efforts to date, they are trying to be the next Microsoft and do even more then what Microsoft dreamed of.  Google is trying to make the US IT world over in their vision and they keep giving away the stuff they don’t care about to get the really big contracts to control everything.  Google is basically using the best practices of Apple and Microsoft against all the IT world.
Basically I am saying Google is the devil, Wink.  Happy holidays!

128  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: North Vancouver Restaurant Accepted my Bitcoin Today! on: November 24, 2012, 06:05:13 PM
Had lunch at the Divan Kitchen in North Vancouver BC today, and they accepted their first bitcoin payment via blockchainexplorer on an iPhone. Now all they need is some decals for the window. If anyone is in the area I would definitely recommend paying them a visit.

Ah but how was the food?  Also someone should pass this along to Bitcoin Magazine so they can do an article or something.
129  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Raspberry Pi alternatives that can run multiple BFL singles, ASICs ? on: November 23, 2012, 08:42:12 PM
Is anyone on here using a Dreamplug?  If so PM me, got some questions.
130  Other / Off-topic / Re: when all bitcoins are mined, will fees be enough to keep mining? on: November 22, 2012, 02:58:20 PM
This is an interesting post from the perspective that I would say difficulty would stay at the highest level acchived when the last coin is mined.  As for mining for fees I don't understand that statement so if a little more can be offered up maybe that might give everyone some more feedback.  I would thinkd that mining would not be of value for bitcoin once the last coin is mined.
131  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Mine on this motherboard? on: November 21, 2012, 01:28:45 PM
If you wanted to try it and do it as a test for the price what the heck but if you want to go all out then put a little more in.  This thing looks like an HP reject from back in the day.
132  Economy / Securities / Re: GOOD NEWS! GLBSE is sending out shareholders data on: November 20, 2012, 02:55:54 PM
This should be a very interesting turn of events.  Now when that data gets out lets see the fireworks start.  I am sure allot of folks figured this was a dead issue.
133  Economy / Economics / Re: Fiscal cliff, what good could come from it? on: November 19, 2012, 11:08:44 PM
So there is whole bunch of negative issues with the cliff and there are some positive items but from a Bitcoin angle what good do you all think will come of it?

From my point of view, this will cause a flight to safety for individuals and organizations and they may find this offering as a low cost and unique way to grow their revenue or business.  Your thoughts?
Fiscal Cliff?

That's where the U.S. Government increases taxes AND reduces spending causing a reduction in the $1.2 trillion deficit of about $560 billion in 2013, right?

So the 2013 budget deficit ends up adding an additional $641 billion to the $16.3 trillion national debt in 2013 instead of adding another $1.2 trillion.

I'm not sure I understand your point of view. Why would a $641 billion deficit cause more of a "flight to safety" than a $1.2 trillion deficit?
What I was asking is that international currency is based on global fiscal maters and what you think about the clif it is still somthing that effects economies arround the world.  The flight to safety is folks who are liquid looking for somthing to convert their funds into somthing like gold, bitcoin or somthing.  So what I was asking is with the clif we are talking about it now how will it effect the value of bitcoins do you see going forward.  That is what I was trying to pull from this discussion.
134  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Using a gaming rig as Bitcoin miner? on: November 18, 2012, 06:25:23 PM
You can always mine other coins with the rig after the ASIC.  I would say just maintain you want a gaming rig first and a mine second and not the other way arround.
135  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Why people think Bitcoin is a ponzi scheme? on: November 18, 2012, 04:23:49 AM
Kind of a chicken and an egg thing here, without mining you don't have bitcoin but without bitcoin you can't have mining.  Ponzi is a bit harsh if you ask me and so trying to compare this to that is not a very easy thing to do.

What would you pay for 6990 with an artic cool fan setup?  Also if only one of the chips are acting up is there any way to fix it that you know of?

Neat idea, I would like to see something similar to this but using dry ice.
139  Economy / Economics / Re: What if gold is produced in lab? on: November 13, 2012, 12:40:06 PM
If this was done on a scale that could be manufactured I would bet you would have a second classification similar to man made diamonds.  A lot of men would be happy to buy man made gold for their ladies.
140  Economy / Economics / Re: What if USD collapses and they issue new currency. on: November 12, 2012, 03:02:35 PM
US won't go back to gold.  Not enough and it has many other issues that would limit the US from expanding it economy.  Digital currency could replace current forms and we should remember history, in the early 1900 gold was illegal to own and you were to trade it in for paper currency notes.  What would stop the US from developing their own digital currency that they make with their equipment and then pass a law calling all other digital currency illegal to own and or trade in?
