uhhh, no, are you cabledespair's one?

At least I have some circumstantial evidence of you parroting Inaba's posts 10-15 min after he posts them on an external site (BFL's forums, 2 times in a row in fact) unlike your completely baseless claim.

Pardon me, just happen to have 6 open tabs in the browser, so an open eye for a lot more. My complete baseless claim, says the guy with the advertisement sig.

It's for a contest for free hardware. Expect to see a lot more of it.

124  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ASIC power consumption estimates on: October 02, 2012, 10:53:42 PM
Just updated the OP with new info from the ASICMINER thread. ASICMINER's estimates that they are going to be 4.2x the power usage of BFL. That would mean 4.2kW per Terahash! So, hypothetically, if you compared 1Th of asic miner to 1Th of BFL:

Code:
Terahash    Power    Monthly Usage    Avg. Cost kW    Cost per Month
ASICMINER       1Th/s    4.2kW            3,066           $0.11           $337.26
BFL             1Th/s    1.0kW              730           $0.11            $80.30

I don't know about you guys, but that BFL equipment, if delivered as expected, is going to be able to run a lot longer with increasing difficulty compared to ASICMINER.

If I read this correct they use 135nm chips, so pretty old tech. So I think it is expected to be slower,
but they are located in china and maybe can make up for that with cheaper product prices.

The electricity costs are only important long-term. ASICMINER consciously decided to go for an older, more reliable technology, because it minimizes the risk of the chip being DOA, which can happen with newer tech.

I'm going to assume the initial costs are also significantly cheaper. But we don't have word for bfl or btcfpga on what type of technology (device size) they will be using yet.

Please correct me (with evidence) if I am wrong.

It is, check the link after "Asked before, but not answered, yet."

They mention you can switch your jalapeno order to a little sc but don't mention if the expected ship date is the same as the jalapeno.. Which really is the main question.
They did.
Q: OK so does that mean the "Little Single" will be available at the same time the Jalapeno is available?
A bfl_josh:  Yes, they should all be available at the same time. We will have an order page up for the "little" single soon.

Someone posting after that mentions: Jody has said on her blog that no Little Singles will ship until all the orders are filled up to September 30th. Little clarity?

lol you ass hat that was posted 30 minutes ago.. nice try being a smart ass.
lol   anyhow, from the 1/3 shipping plan:
"Since the "Little" Single SC unit is a new product, not included in the first preorder phase, all SC orders up to and including orders placed on September 30th, 2012 will be assembled and shipped prior to shipping any NEW orders of the "Little" Single SC. UPGRADE orders will be shipping in the order received for your original order that you upgraded from, 1/2 for FIFO and 1/2 random from all orders."

I find the timing of your responses quite interesting. Are you Inaba's new puppet account?
126  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: ASIC Mining Soon to Be Unprofitable??!?! on: October 02, 2012, 10:43:12 PM
If you get in early enough there will be a decent time window to pay for your machine + hopefully make significant profits. The power/ghash rate though should guarantee that at least there is some continuous profit, how much? only time will tell.

cablepair,

Minor nitpick on the website. I've submitted 3 orders over the past several weeks and each time I still have to click a checkbox to agree to a blank Terms and Conditions page. I actually read these things so it is a little unnerving for me.

It's not actually blank, you can highlight the text. I am assuming he messed up on the color coding and isn't trying to hide the text.. but what do I know.. I didn't actually read it.

I am still calling bs on all power ratings until I see actual prototypes performing at predicted rates.

Still have not pulled the trigger yet on an SC single (I can't until the end of Oct anyways financially speaking).

Thanks for reading Smiley

keep reading and studying, if you don't have the money for 3 weeks or so... why make a decision today? Smiley
The ASIC landscape is changing quickly
3 weeks in Bitcoinworld is a very long time Smiley
Good luck whichever way you decide Smiley
Graet

I know this is a little off topic, but it makes me happy when I see a great guy like Graet supporting Tom over at btcfpga and helps validate my decision to leave the lionshare of my investment with Tom (though I still have some over at BFL).
132  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: High Efficiency FPGA & ASIC Bitcoin Mining Devices https://BTCFPGA.com on: October 02, 2012, 09:24:24 PM
Tom's using testnet because its FAIR, period.

I'm sick of this hand wringing about these manufacturers using YOUR product to compete against you.

It's pure BS as difficulty does not just "change back" it will hurt us miners until difficulty resets which in case you haven't been keeping up is NEVER.

There will be constant "testing" and we will all get screwed by an abnormally high hash rate thus reducing our profit substantially.

We all deserve a decent chance to profit from our investment and not compete with the damn companies that sell this stuff to us.

Bitcoin is a finite world so it DOES matter.

Even a week of unnaturally hire difficulty is HUGE with these units.

Cut the nonsense people, you're screwing yourselves.

I applaud Tom for being honest and ethical with his customers. BFL and all others should do the same, PERIOD.

Personally, I don't mind doing a burn-in on main-net if there was some benefit to us (ie reduced cost based on the expected profit generated for test period with basically zero competition). But I know I can trust Tom to make ethical decisions regarding this unlike some other competitors.

135  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Ron Paul on the official Write-In List for MAINE on: October 02, 2012, 03:05:29 PM
kokojie you have absolutely no idea what you are saying. Neither GOP or Democrats are anywhere close in terms of policy to what libertarians care about.

While I definitely won't write in paul or johnson this election year, I'll be damned if I support the current state of the batshit insane republican party currently being led by religious fundamentalists.

lol..this thread Cheesy

many people who support Ron Paul.. wouldn't touch Romney with a 10 foot stick... I know I wouldn't.

well.

order#853.

now we'll see when the stuff's gonna actually arrive.

Tom, is this Order #853 number just the number of ASIC orders? Or did the bASIC orders not start counting at 1?

I ask because it was almost a month ago, but you posted this here:

bASIC units will be assembled at the same plant that the ModMiner Quad's are, they will be produced in batches of 30-50 every 5-10 days and shipped out on first come first served basis

Lets give you the benefit of the doubt and say you ship Dec 1st, and ship 25 orders/week. The time to fulfill those 850 orders would be 34 weeks. Now obv that's unacceptable. Can you clarify?

My original order is in the 400's so.. not sure?

Regarding google authenticator, I think it is the same regardless of platform (apple or android) as I have an issue when rooting my android phone and will doing a full back up, but when I restored the app was there but none of the data..

So it may be more of a google authenticator security thing rather than an apple issue.
