129  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: CPU Mining have any sense at all? on: September 12, 2012, 09:30:56 PM
I mean, if you have random rigs laying around. Why not put a farm somewhere where you don't pay power (dorm room perhaps)

Or like, leave a netbook running at work, or your work PC on.

I mean hey, if I was still an undergrad working in my college's PC lab, I would have miners set up on every single machine.

Say word. I told my bro to do this but he's a lazy bitch that would rather work 9-5s. My head hurts everytime I think about all the coins he could be spitting me with Smiley

134  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: MtGox to Bitcoin Wallt on: September 12, 2012, 07:54:02 PM
This is my first and I'm very new to Bitcoins. So, I need help. I tried to put 8 bitcoins into my wallet via MtGox and on MtGox it says the withdrawal was successful, yet it has been almost two hours since the transaction and there is still no sign of the bitcoins in my wallet. Is this normal?

Side Note: My Bitcoin wallet is still "synchronizing with the network" and has 9,293 blocks remaining. I'm not sure if that has any relevance.

Doesn't get anymore relevant than that.. Wait for it to sync up then you'll get your coins
135  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Day 3 on here and things I learnt so far... on: September 12, 2012, 07:51:25 PM
1. The crowd here are really friendly and there doesn't seem to be too many eejits like on other non-bitcoin forums.
2. People here are really helpful to newbies or is that just because we is in the newbies section. Average IQ seems high.
3. People are excited about something  Wink
4. These forums seem to be the focal point for this entire (nascent) industry.

Damn right I'm excited! I have a job now lol

138  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin by flattr an vice versa on: September 12, 2012, 07:25:54 PM
Does anybody offer a exchange possibilty between flattr and bitcoin?
Since its possible to "donate" to flattr accounts maybe this could be used to convert money to bitcoins (and back)?

-pminers

If there api allows it, I don't see why not Smiley
139  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Place to buy amazon? on: September 12, 2012, 07:19:50 PM
Here's a feedback post. Complete rip off. Currently your selling a 25 dollar gift certificate for 2.8 bitcoins. It should be a 30 dollar giftcard plus small commission on the 2.80. Not 5 damn dollars. Just redonculous man. Fuck was ya'll thinkin?

I'm sorry for ripping into you so bad. You seem nice. But that needs to be fixed with a fair comission like btcbuy for example. Especially when your laying down 25 dollars worth of bitcoins. No one is holding a gun to my head and forcing me to buy from you but a 5 dollar fee is waaaaay too much.

</rant>

Ayeee lol...

I'll sell you amazon bro its not that serious.
140  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to earn BTC on: September 12, 2012, 07:15:10 PM
Except for mining (which is getting more and more specialized and risky) and investing on GLBSE are there other ways of earning btc? And I'm not talking about trading on silk road, only online stuff Smiley

You can do in-person trading.

You set the price.  Have the person meet you.

This is because even going to 7-11 and picking up the red phone is too much work / too complicated / too risky / etc.  and meeting up with the seller and doing a trade face-to-face is worth it to some newbies, and they are willing to pay a little extra.

+1
Helps if your in a heavy populated city. The closer people are to you the better.
