121  Economy / Economics / Re: South Africa's Super market started accepting bitcoin on: September 22, 2017, 07:50:24 AM
South Africa's second-largest supermarket chain tested bitcoin payments earlier this year – but it doesn't plan to roll out the option to its stores anytime soon, according to its CEO.

Pick n Pay, which operates in a number of African countries as well as South Africa, piloted a payment system in partnership with startups Electrum and Luno. That initiative was limited to a staff cafeteria, CEO Richard van Rensburg told BusinessDay in an interview, and is no longer active.

As for when the supermarket chain might expand the option to an actual storefront, van Rensburg demurred, pointing to a difficult regulatory environment as the root cause for hesitation.

Soon it will become in regular usage SA cities. Even you can expect bitcoin will be adopted in Wall mart, AL-Ghurair and many more soon.

Pass your suggestions about the super markets need to accept the bitcoin according to your view.

Can you post the link of this news? I'm not familiar with Pick N Pay since I don't live in South Africa but this is a good news for us as they are now trying bitcoin payments for their business. Once it will be now implemented in the whole South Africa region then this will have a big impact in bitcoin. I guess they are also testing the blockchain technology as it's a very promising network for their business.

Me too. But anyways its good to hear that they are slowly adopting bitcoin as for payment, and since it has already started hopefully it will continue more further, hope there is no interruptions in that progress. Considering South Africa accepting bitcoin as payment is really  a huge update.
122  Economy / Economics / Re: Is bitcoin a good way to invest your money ? on: September 22, 2017, 03:45:41 AM
The title and the content is quiet misleading, for some readers maybe they would be confused for some reason, but to answer your question yes i bitcoin is a good way to invest, specially long term investment, i a such way that it is a virtual currency with so many and very high potential. Gold and other investments you were talking are also alike but you need to have a proper storage while some of those investments need a lot of attention and maintenance, correct me if i'm wrong guys

Wait till the weekend, we haven't seen the floor yet.

Next time its just better to hold this far down from the peak.

I saw the price already started rising.

I managed to get speed similar to v9.0 with speed stability better than in v9.2. I will release new version in 2-3 days including this and some other improvements.

@Claymore the release will be today?

It might be tomorrow.

I've tried to get hands on a z97 gaming 5 mobo but that one stock had weird issues. So I'm returning it now. I'm going to try my chances with z87 deluxe quad now. My goal is to get 7 gpu first then maybe more.

The z97 gaming 5 works great with 7 gpu for me.  Undecided

This is what I'm using as well with 2 PSUs and it runs great. Win10

Z97a Gaming 7 is even better and I don't get those weird “shell” messages on your screen, with a “startup.nsh” when you move components around.  BTW if you get this screen "startup.nsh" using MSI Gaming 5 just move the SATA connector from your hard drive to a different SATA port on your motherboard.  With one or two moves, "startup.nsh" goes away and Windows boots normally.  No need to reinstall Windows if you see this.  I have not seen this error message with the Gaming 7, which has more USB 3 ports, HDMI, power on/reset buttons right on the mother board (no need for a paperclip, no need to power on cable).

Gaming 5 is fine, but I love my Gaming 7.

Are these more expensive motherboards consuming more power than the Asrock H61 Pro BTC?

Eth nanopool dont send less 1 eth ?

I have 0.990039067 Eth mining yesterday , but today no send .

Nanpool ETH minimum payout is .2 ETH.  They payout every 6 hours (usually) although sometimes they have issues and a payout is delayed.

If you're mining to Poloniex, the balance will only show in your account once you have more than 1 ETC being deposited.

That is different for the ZEC. It will show up less than 0.01 ZEC.

Damn,
Right about now I wish I had a few 100 GPU's extra to mine with. Jeez!

I believe that you wish to mine the ZCash. It is a good coin to mine and it has good community support.

The 2GB cards should work till January 2017 or so....

Unfortunately, in many cases OpenCL application cannot allocate entire GPU memory, for example, drivers can reserve some memory for desktop (200-300MB usually). Also, if miner generates DAG on GPU, it must allocate additional buffer for it (about 30MB).

Anyway to check which epoch will stop the 2GB cards for sure?

There is a thread by Genoil about the TLB thrashing. He provided a program to test the hash drop due to teh increase of DAG.

sub 0.01 incoming after fork? KEK

Some people want the price to be lower than 0.01 so that they can buy more. It could be the motive of the trolls.

The Ethereum price is still over the 0.018 range. It seems most of the people think the hard fork is a success.

The price of Ethereum is still around 0.02 at the moment, that is after the revival of the Ethereum Classic.

That is quite interesting. Even today, the Ethereum price is still over 0.019. Not many people are dumping.

The Ethereum price dropped to 0.013 and rose to 0.018 again. It seems there are still supporters for it.

The bitcoin price is still over 0.019 at present. So it is quite resilient. The Ethereum trolls might be disappointed.

That is right. The combined value of the ETH and ETC is almost the same as two weeks ago. The Ethereum is doing very well.
How you sure that ethereum is doing well . i think its because of value right now the price right now is really high and its not a good to invest right now in bitcoin unless if the price will getting low again and buy when the price crash again.. ethereum is alive again according to other traders many whales here are saying that ethereum is scam or hack or dont invest so that they can buy low price of ethereum after the price is increase again traders will be attract to invest again so that the price will increasing whales will sell again and repeat the procedure.

If the price of Ethereum does not drop below $5, I think it is doing well. As most people predict it would be $1 now.

I do not see the Etheruem price will drop too low. It is still being developed activeluy by the Ethereum Foundation.

Time will tell, because to me it seem Ethereum is losing their initial charm, the integration of Segregated withness on Bitcoin is going to really affect the platform unless you want to put cost ahead of security

There is still active development of the Etheruem. So there is no worry.

Code Coverage for Solidity
Ensuring the security of deployed Ethereum contracts is one of the most important challenges facing Ethereum developers today. After the unfortunate problems with the DAO, the resulting hard fork and associated community fallout, hopefully no-one reading this article would disagree. Indeed, there was a whole session devoted to the topic at the recent DevCon2, with talks spanning formal verification, coding best practices and more. However, the Ethereum community seems to have been silent regarding one of the first tools invented to help avoid unintended behaviour from code — code coverage.
Code coverage, first devised in the 1960s, encapsulates the idea that tests should ‘touch’ all of the code under test. If the tests execute all of your code, and the results from the tests are as expected, it is less likely your code contains unforeseen bugs. Untested code could do anything!
I will freely admit this is not a silver bullet. Writing tests achieving even 100% code coverage would not have caught the reentrancy bug that was the fatal flaw in the DAO unless someone had written a particularly inspired test. Indeed, blindly writing tests to achieve 100% coverage is probably not the best use of a developer’s time. Code coverage should only be treated as another arrow in our collective quiver.

This mod is not working for me with the latest driver (16.8.2) and 7 RX 480's on Windows 7. Any ideas? I did run the application as an administrator. The app seems to work fine with  6 GPU's, though.

Same issue!

Driver 16.8.2 RC4
Board: H81 BTC
6x RX 470
OS: Windows 7 x64

After installing the driver only 4 (!!!) gpus are working.
The other 2 gpus show Error 43.

Your tool works to get 5 gpus running but still 1 gpu showing Error 43.
Running your tool once again didn't change anything.
So the total is 4 with driver only and 5 with your mod applied (even multiple times).

I would love to stay with windows 7 (!!!) allthough win 10 seems to be plug and play.

Quite strange, I updated an old rig to driver 16.8.2 RC4 with the same setup as above but INSTEAD 6x R9 280x.
Once again with the driver only, just 4x 280x were working, 2 were showing Error 43.
But in this case your mod worked to get all 6x 280x running.
So the only difference is the gpu model itself.

Thanks in advance if you can fix it.

In the PC system BIOS, you might be able to change the PCIE generation from 3 to 1. This might help.

Maybe it is better to wait for a few weeks before investing in the Etheruem and also the Classic. Something might happen.

The Ethereum DEV2 will happen in about 20 days.

I don't think the founder selling his ETH is a lack of confidence on his part.  It's the smart thing to do, and I would do it as well.  Crypto is super volatile and risky, and he kept enough to keep him rolling in dough for the rest of his life if it goes to the moon.

That would be a very bad move, not smart thing. When you're the developer of that coin and you sell all of your coins. The price eventually drops when you dump that much of a coins you had.

When you've dumped everything, you wouldn't be having anymore interest on your coin to do things to make it rise again. That's when it will be turned into a dead coin and people show no interest when the dev isn't doing anything.

It's gonna drop and drop and those who bought at high price trusting the dev, will be in loss.

He still keeps 75% of the original stake. So he still has 75% of his confidence. He also needs to money to buy food.

Vitalik Vertron will be happy he sold 25% of his Etheruem coins. The price dropped a lot since the DAO hack.

The price also rose 40% since the latest bottom. The price is so volatile. It is good for some traders to make money.

Before the implementation of the soft fork, the price could flucutate around the 0.017 to 0.019 for some time.

The ETH fall from grace, in progress, has been swift and merciless. Meanwhile, BTC and LTC are going batshit like the oldtimers that they are.

The Ethereum rose to $15 twice and failed to break it. It dropped to $7 in the last bottom. It has not dropped below it this time.

The price of Etheruem is around $12.6 at the moment. So there is good support from the traders.
140  Economy / Speculation / Re: Predict the price for January 1, 2017 on: May 22, 2016, 01:41:00 PM
The price in January 1, 2017 will be $850. That is the double of the Jan 2016 price. I think the price will double every year.
