121  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: In 12 Hours already 1% of Iceland's population claimed their Auroracoins on: March 25, 2014, 02:09:34 PM
I'm happy to see that Balduro stands by his words and deliver the coins.
The Media is going crazy over it

So far we didn't see any crazy dump of coins - I personally think that if you get a present you don't sell it away Smiley (But I do forecast a rollercoaster in the price due to speculators)

Icelandic business have the right attitude to accepting it and merchants tools already functioning... I wonder how the government will react, it can be a big Milestone in the life of Bitcoin

Where are you getting this news?

Yes, i'm also curious...

Can you maybe link us few articles or scan some newspaper media coverage?

Ofcourse, I answered above
also merchant tools : Moolah.io

The facebook page https://www.facebook.com/auroracoin.org has a lot of information from the Media but its in Icelandic

This is forbes talking about Auroracoin few hours ago : http://www.forbes.com/sites/ericmack/2014/03/24/national-bitcoin-alternative-auroracoin-launches-to-save-icelands-economy/

Well then,
i guess congratulations are in order.

Good job.

Just keep those volcanoes from erupting. That last one 3 years ago screwed my trip!

There is a lot more to be done..
The government doesn't like this at all Smiley http://www.coindesk.com/icelandic-parliament-committee-holds-closed-session-discuss-auroracoin/

and there is still not a lot to do with your Auroracoin... so there is need to focus on merchants acceptance

Where are you getting this news?

1% of Iceland population -> http://auroracoin.org/ (there is a counter)
no coins were dumped when AUR was 100usd -> https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=446062.0 (all addresses are posted)[/li][/list]
Icelanders are talking about AUR -> https://www.facebook.com/auroracoin.org
124  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: AURORA "airdrop" - before and after March 25 on: March 25, 2014, 12:13:50 PM
How do they check if the people come from iceland?

They combine each person ID number + name (Iceland have public data base of the people) with that person's Facebook account (almost everyone in Iceland have Facebook account)

How do you know they do that? Are the processes documented somewhere ?

Im not Icelandian so I cant know exactly how they do it, but its on the web and forums...
there is a counter at auroracoin.org and the wallets of the premined coins are disclosed

My question is more like how does the public know they distribute to Icelander not to themself in the name of Icelander?

Im not sure I understand
If you ask how do we know that he is not distributing it to himself, I guess we can see the addresses; but its going to end up with trust as we cant expect the people to identify in public for claiming the coins. No one will claim at this situation

So you trust an anonymous person to give away millions of $ to also a bunch of anonymous people but not himself and friends.

To me the latter is more like what is happening unless it is proven otherwise.

Auroracoin does have a lot of weight on the hands of one guy.
I find him as a man of his word; so far he didnt everything he said he will, but I wont put there my life savings

edit : Also remember that the coin was 100usd$ for a single AUR and Balduro didnt dump it and went to the Caribbean and you can see at https://www.facebook.com/auroracoin.org     a lot of Icelandic traffic

Although the price has not plunged down, it has fallen a bit. I admit I expected an immediate crazy dump of coins.

I want to say its due to High supply but I doubt that new to the bitcoin world know how to convert the money and dump it
They do have website who do it for them : http://auroracoin.com/
you deposit Auroras and get Bitcoins back Smiley

Its probably still pure speculation

131  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: From BTC 2 LTC 2 AUR on: March 20, 2014, 05:30:10 PM
There is a lot of action coming from Auroracoin in the next days

the airdrop is really near ,block 5400 is also getting closer and the Icelandic government and media are starting to talk about it.

I think im going to sit on my stack until the winds will calm. maybe, one day, even buy a house Reykjavik  Wink

if you learned anything from btc, it is 'sitting on a cryptocurrency' is not wise, far too many things can happen to it

what's that "airdrop" thing you are talking about?

Sitting on cryptocurrency is exactly how I was able to start my business now without taking loans from the banks and ect..
Its all about Paitance

The idea of Auroracoin is to give for free for every Icelandic citizen some AUR coins so they will start to use it instead of the highly inflated Krona they use now. in four days each one of them will be able to claim their birthright coins

133  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ekrona! on: March 18, 2014, 08:34:38 PM
and who own these 40mm ekrona? Scandinavian people?
I doubt it...

Just another copycat that you guys are trying to brand

So its better to support Aurora, a 50% pre-mined that is going to be air-dropped lol?

Yes...
out of 10,650,000 coins 10,500,000 are going to be in the hands of Icelanders
If Baldur wanted to get rich he would have dumped the coins a long time ago and went to the Caribbeans, but he is driven by ideology not greed.

So lets get this straight, if Baldur wanted to dump he could, that's fine.  He hasn't as yet, but whats to say he won't?  What is stopping him?  Also how can you distribute a coin when the users its intended to go to may not even know about it or don't know about it?  Can you ensure receipt of the coins?  Lots of issues arise when you think about it when a person holds that many coins.

Whats stopping him to do so? his hate for the goverment's currency limitation...
not everyone is being led by money and I find Baldur as one of them (I wont lie, I invested in AUR to see some profit... But I did follow Iceland financial situation before)
about the technical things, you are welcomed to tour the website and the blueprint. not everyone is disclosed yet but all you need to do is to wait 6 days to know if you are right or wrong

Canaanite, just who is it copying?  Aurora, Spain, Maza all these cultural / country coins came AFTER Ekrona so before you state something get your facts straight.

Also this coin isn't relying on a Dev / or group to push it, its the community that's keeping it up because they endorse it and arent putting they're hopes on the promise of someone relinquishing coins to a vast amount of people.

what is the relation of Ekrona and Scandinavia? what makes this coin Scandinavian beside the name and maybe a developer or two?
I remember when I bought Auroras in January I saw Ekrona and I had this debate if to invest in Ekrona as well. I saw that it offers nothing new or innovative... So I just put it all in Auroracoin. I would have done the same thing now
135  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are country coins the next wave? on: March 18, 2014, 08:27:38 PM

Is anyone surprised that Auroracoin is going up again?

Nope, because people understand the premined coins are actually going to Icelandic people and not to a massive dump
(and it seems speculators love this coin)

Block 5400 is coming.

~BCX~

when finding a single block takes 5 hours... it might take a while  Cool

Although everyone here agree that BCX is an asshole, these kind of vulnerabilities are needed to be fixed and avoided
at least he gave a fair warning
140  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WTF happened to Aurora today?!? on: March 18, 2014, 03:56:21 PM
Auroracoin is far from being dead... It is just being manipulated by few whales who do what ever they want with it, therefore you cant know what is the real price of auroracoin.

currently there are changes that are happening in the coin (so it will be more stable) Plus the community is working very hard so the airdrop will be successful (happening in just a week).

Personally I use this chance to buy some coins as I think the price is a bit low (but its just speculating)

The only reason this scam coin is rising is due to ponzi pumping.

The actual liquid amount of Auroracoin is so small that the price can be manipulated fairly easy.

Small buys spike and small sells drop it.

Nothing impressive here.

~BCX~

We will see if its a ponzi scam pre mined coin...
I did put my money on it because I believe in it
but I want a public apology from you to Balduro if you are wrong
