Lowered minimum bid to 40BTC and buy it now to 60BTC

Walls walls evrywhere  Undecided

Yeah, someone just decided to cashout 35k @ 0.00485777 on bitfunder. I think that will contain the price for a while if there's no other significant news.
If there were efficient arbitrage between the two exchanges, that wall would be long gone already.
The price gap between the two exchanges is ridiculously profitable.

You can forget about efficient arbitrage—you can't expect Ken to make share transfers between exchanges for this purpose. Until then, just sell high, move your coins, buy low.

Someone PLEASE post some put options!

What this means is you can get either

1) ActiveMining at a LOWER price (you are selling someone else the right to sell AM to you at a lower price than it is currently, in exchange for a "premium" now)
2) High interest while you wait for it to expire on your money

Done. BTC-TC:
PUT #1983   6 d, 23 h, 0 m   500 @ 0.00535000 STRIKE & 0.00074999 PREMIUM for a COST/EACH OF 0.00460001
PUT #1985   6 d, 23 h, 0 m   500 @ 0.00560000 STRIKE & 0.00099999 PREMIUM for a COST/EACH OF 0.00460001

I'm curious, what "molecular biology" services do you offer?

DNA construction:
You need a custom DNA sequence? You send me the sequence you want and preferably a template DNA (if the sequence is over 250bp), and I use PCR to create or edit an existing sequence, and I clone it into an expression vector of your choice (which you may have to provide if I don't have access to it). I would even consider generating viral particles carrying the DNA, but there are legal/ethical limitations as to the tropism of said virus.

The two exchange system offers a nice arbitrage opportunity. I've increased my holdings by 20% historically through just a few arbitrage trades. Be careful of WeExchange, though—they don't pay the minimum transaction fee on withdrawals and they require 6 confirmations on deposits.

How do you arbitrage btw exchanges?
You buy stock at exchange A and then sell is at exchange B?
But how to transfer the stock from A to B?

I assume he is buying low on BTCT and selling high, then transferring bitcoin to Bitfunder when its lower and buying there

Your right it's not a true arbitrage, I am just selling high, buying low, and equalizing my share holdings on the two exchanges when the buy/sell orders are close to each other—this last part is more difficult as the share price on BTC-TC rarely dips below the BitFunder price.
126  Economy / Securities / Re: ActiveMining Overview and Speculation Thread on: July 25, 2013, 11:52:06 AM
You might be able to model this by looking at share movement on BitFunder (with regards to the Assets List) over a period of 1–2 months (if you have access to those backups) and see what percentage was holding vs trading.
Backup of assets list: https://btct.co/history-bitfunder/

I think the share price will go up some when the fund closes, but not a ton. BTC-TC already got their dividend/buyout and I think that is part of why the price skyrocketed so much over there, and that also dragged the Bitfunder price up.

okay i read 40 pages of this thread and the answer seems to have slightly changed; i'll ask this question one more time: if i hold shares on BTCT, do i need to tender the shares to be included in the 10M that receive the initial dividends. from previous posts, the answer appears to have been send via internal transfer to amctender1 but now it appears that activemining security is now its own listing and that AMC-PT will automatically be converted to activiemining AND receive the initial divs? if someone could clarify this would be great. also the bid on activemining is at .32 whereas the bid for AMC-PT is at .37. just some bids for activemining that woudlnt go through since no sellers would have their asks that low? thanks.

Shares will be automatically tendered from AMC-PT to ACTIVEMINING on btct.co. The bid prices in ACTIVEMINING are just buyers taking up positions in case anyone sells their shares after the automatic tender takes place. Just wait a few days to a week and the automatic tender should take place. If the automatic tender hasn't occurred by then, I expect Ken will provide clarity on the timing.

129  Economy / Securities / Re: [BitFunder] Asset Exchange Marketplace + Rewritable Options Trading on: July 25, 2013, 05:00:43 AM
@Ukyo

Anything in the works with regards to full trading API including options writing/rewriting/execution? I would love to see options included in the future trading API.
130  Economy / Securities / Re: [Smidge.Com] - A virtual, actively managed, multi-asset digital currency fund on: July 25, 2013, 04:54:24 AM
This sounds like a bit of a copy of my managed fund Sandstorm. (link in sig.)

I'm not sure about putting serious money in the hands of someone with only 3 months experience.... I've been doing this for a fair bit longer than this guy who seems to have just popped up. Hell, if you don't trust me go invest in BTCinvest instead.

hot tip: I don't think cipher mine is the best thing to invest in right now....it seems a little overpriced and exposed to LTC which could have serious market implication for ciphermine. But that's just my opinion.

Good luck!!!

Lets get back to some old fashioned speculating!

3-4 days until the SatoshiDice passthroughs get their payouts. What does everyone think this will do to the ACTM price?

I've been thinking about this as well. I think people who were long SatoshiDice might take up some long positions in ActM, but people who were trading it might just pump-and-dump ActM as the dividends at present aren't likely to convert them to a long position. You might be able to model this by looking at share movement on BitFunder (with regards to the Assets List) over a period of 1–2 months (if you have access to those backups) and see what percentage was holding vs trading. Then, project this percentage over the total pass through share number over all exchanges and figure what volume of long BTC investment is about to be freed up. Of course, ActM is only likely to snag a percentage of those long positions, but it is one of the more attractive long security positions at the moment. Overall, I expect an upward movement in price, but there will be a correction associated with the upward movement.
132  Economy / Securities / Re: SEC Charges Bitcoin Savings and Trust (BTCST) as Ponzi Scheme on: July 25, 2013, 04:28:40 AM
nice idea, everything related to btc should be decentralize, if the stock exchange and currency exchange are running as a client on computers or cellphones, there is no way the gov has the chance to shut them down

Your idea is nice as well but there are practical/technical concerns to be addressed:
  • Who pays for the development of said decentralized securities exchange?
  • Who moderates offerings to reduce likely scams? (A proof of stake voting system might work but is subject to manipulation)
  • How are transactions secured? (Are we looking at yet another alt-coin?)
  • How do you handle rapid order creation/destruction/fulfillment?
  • How do you facilitate rapid order fulfillment when transactions consist of entities with different temporal constraints? (in other words, how do you create a p2p marketplace where users can trade BTC for securities when BTC can only be securely transferred over a period of 30—60 min depending on your risk tolerance?)

I am wholeheartedly behind the creation of said decentralized securities exchange but there are serious technical hurdles to be overcome.

Hi Ken,
I made transferred 5000 AMC on Bitfunder yesterday.
Date: 2013-07-23
Time: 20:32:11
Please transfer to my AM, thanks.

I did a transfer on Bitfunder
Date: 2013-07-14
Time: 18:24:55

I emailed as per the instructions...
Only 92 shares.. but how long is this supposed to take?

Kem's away in California for a couple days to finalize the eASIC deal. Just sit tight—hopefully he will have a chance to do some tenders by the end of the weekend or Monday.
134  Economy / Securities / Re: [ActiveMining] The Official Active Mining Discussion Thread on: July 24, 2013, 12:54:06 PM
Where do we find these trolls? Let us get back on topic.

Vbs, do you know how much time will elapse after Ken paying the NRE and eASIC posting the news on their site? Also, do we have any guarantee they would post such news? It would be great to have such a link on the VMC website. Any chance eASIC would post the simulation results in said news article? That might also help increase buyer confidence and preorder demand.
135  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [VMC] Official Virtual Mining Corporation - EXPOSED on: July 22, 2013, 05:39:55 PM
Your complaints seem to me to be based off eASIC's 45nm offering, but ActiveMining (VMC) is reportedly contracting them to design a 28nm chip. Perhaps their 28nm process is still behind-the-scenes as it isn't described on eASIC's website from what I could find, so I doubt you have any idea that their 28nm process is capable of.

The OP is not based on sound understanding of what ActiveMining (VMC) has contracted eASIC to produce.

Wrap it up, nothing to see here.
136  Economy / Securities / Re: [ActiveMining] The Official Active Mining Discussion Thread on: July 20, 2013, 02:23:41 PM
Looks like we're going to start seeing AMC everywhere

Auction ended. Final result:
Slots BTC/Slot Person
1 8.75 digitalmagus
6 8.25 kslaughter

Btw Ken have you considered a reddit advert?

I'm not too sure how great they are in terms of impressions - sales but I know there is an active Bitcoin following there too

I think the amount of slots ken bought is a bit of a waste. With just 2 or 3 slots everyone on the forum would see something about ActiveMining.

Reddit advertising is a good idea. The ads there target it to specific subreddits and I don't think it would cost that much to advertise on r/bitcoin and r/bitcoinmining. I typically block most ads, but I have found a few interesting things from the ones r/bitcoin.

I think it would be wise to watch the web traffic and sales generated before passing judgement on the advertising strategy.
137  Economy / Securities / Re: [ActiveMining] The Official Active Mining Discussion Thread on: July 20, 2013, 04:25:26 AM
I, for one, am very glad there will be more shares issued at 0.0025. One last chance to expand my stake at a low price before the price skyrockets in the months to come as the avalon chips are deployed, the eASIC NRE is paid in full, and the FAST-HASH-ONE series comes online.

Watch out Springfield, MO we will own your underground in 2014—to be renamed "The ActiveMining PetaHash Bunker"
