121  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Why are so many people dumping GPUs all of a sudden? on: January 20, 2017, 09:01:29 AM
Actually cheaper GPUs are easier to sell since there is larger market , imagine trying to sell 50 1070GTX for gamers , you will need couple of months unless you offer lower than your 80% mark.
you will have to sell in the 250-300$ range to offload quickly .

MSI Z97 Gaming 5 with an M.2 to PCI-e adapter.

I am running 7 GPUs on the gaming 5 .
I have seen some people trying that adapter  and trying the PCI-E splitter and both failed .

Does it have some special settings ?

I agree 100% with  philipma1957  when it comes to RX470/RX480 GPUs and risers .

It is recommended to use PCI-E powered riser .

You can order some 8 PIN PCI-E Splitter  cable , from 8 pin PCI-Male to Dual 8 Pin female .

IF you have 1KW PSU with Dual CPU cable you can get a cable to convert 8 pin CPU to Dual 8 Pin PCI-E.

I run my 7 RX470 Rig on Evga 1300 G2 as follow .

Each PCI-E cable , connected to 8 pin to Dual 8 pin cable(6+2) , each of the cables will handle GPU+ Riser
Total 6 cables = Total 6 GPUs + 6 Risers.
7th GPU to be handled by 8 Pin CPU cable to Dual 8 pin PCI-E
One CPU cable = 1 GPU + Riser.

Why do not you tell people how much you reduce the clock speed graphics cards? Grin

1150/1900 obviously custom bios undervolted etc. Still pulls 890 at the wall, but the point of my post is as long as you know how to balance rails and tune everything right there is no reason you can't run a PSU at its max capacity.

Actually i will be more interested in the Motherboard used for 8 GPU and how to set it up .
125  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's ZCash AMD GPU Miner v11.0 (Windows/Linux) on: January 14, 2017, 08:25:30 PM

don't confuse people.
I've got here 6 rx400 on 1KW doing just fine (the most intensive dual eth&sc takes up to 920W from the wall, ZEC is about 750W)

EDIT: undervolted to the very bottom ('bout 850mv), lowered core, 2K mem, bios mod

Actually if the miner to lunch without your under volt software you will get 1100+W watt from the wall .
I did a test run with 6 rx 470 4Gb Nitro flashed with modded bios , Core 1130 Mhz , memory 1900 Mhz with 1500 strap .
It had 1150+W at the wall using Evga 1300 G2 Gold .
Once the Wattool kicks in and it is down to 900W

You need to make sure that voltage adjustment software kick in before miner or set Bios offset

Before Wattool

After Wattol

Some Crap PSUs will be rated at 1KW and will shutdown before reaching 1KW at the wall , others have multi rail with power distribution

126  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum's Block Reward might be reduced from 5 ETH to 1.5 ETH on: January 02, 2017, 09:27:19 AM
Assuming that they voted for reward reduction , first reduction with the current block time should be approximately 3-4 months form now  and reward will be 4 ETH , few weeks later (3-4) it will get reduced to 3 ETH then to 2 ETH .

if we get price increase proportional to reward reduction then difficultly will keep rising and mining will be the same , other wise we will move to other coin , the current trend for the past few months is that there is 3-4 coin with profitability close to each other (10% UP and down ) and that trend will continue . When zec came in Ether lost 40% difficulty , then it gained back 20%.

Some people where happy for getting more Ether , we might be making the same or less money but we get more tokens to be saved for the future .

Personally i made my calculations that ETH will be dead by March , the only conclusion from that vote is there is at least 6 months before POS.

New Version of Hynix isn't supported by Polaris bios editor , you need hex editing
128  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What are your solutions for fake monitors on rigs on: December 26, 2016, 06:29:37 AM
Those $2 converters definately don't work for the RX 470/480 cards I tried. Don't know if using resistors would help however. Dont have any on hand.

All my rigs are working with those 2$ HDMI to VGA converters without any mods/resistor , just  plugged to the main GPU and all my rigs are RX470 on windows 10.

It is limited by the Bus in Ether but in other coins it might show some gains , maybe 5%
