What happened?
 { "blocks" : 63415, "currentblocksize" : 90506, "currentblocktx" : 1, "errors" : "", "generate" : true, "genproclimit" : 4, "primespersec" : 957, "pooledtx" : 1, "testnet" : false }
PPS dropped by 500% and blocksize went up from 1000 to 90506?
Spam transactions.

Protein folding would be interesting.
Why don't you just tell us what PoW you have in mind? Being secretive is dumb.

I guess you failed to notice that CUMP only supports addition, subtraction and multiplication. You need division and other special functions for Primecoin mining. Division is just subtraction with a counter.
That's beautiful. :')

Can anyone explain to me, with verifiable numbers, why there are these constant suggestions that there are GPU and botnet miners in action?
Everybody was getting blocks at the start, then nobody was getting anything. But the block time is still well under target, so /somebody/ is getting those blocks.

The daily average is falling for XPM every day now. The daily average for today is on track to hit 65k. It will continue to fall since the target block rate is 1 per minute and we are still not close to that.. 1 month from now the daily average will be 20k or less, I predict. I'm betting on a difficulty of 10 or more before we reach 1 minute blocks.

Open up your makefile, and add -O3 -march=native -s and recompile it from source.
Also, do that with libgmp for even more performance.

it does remove unspent outputs as they get spent it doesn't remove the block data - because then it would not be able to serve blocks to clients that are fresh and need to download the chain.
But if transactions have already been embedded in the blockchain, new nodes don't need the data anyways.
|
|
|
Can't the client just download and parse the entire blockchain removing the unspent outputs as they get spent?
I don't understand why it hasn't already been implemented, I imagine it would be immensely useful for miners who don't want to foot the entire 10GB blockchain, and just want the probably .5GB block header + unspent output that would be the result of the parsing.

How can you make something both ASIC proof?

Would this miner be compatible with a getwork scheme?

Apparently I'm pulling 1.5k pps on a single thread with my i3 Nice.

Hmm, how well will this work with my i3?

There are probably an infinite number of primes. Really, how scientifically useful is this endeavor?
There are definitely an infinite number of primes. Given a set of primes, you can easily show that there must be one more prime, and so on. This project is not about finding new primes, because new ones are too big to verify in any sensible time for a block interval. What does "scientifically useful" mean, anyway? Is something useful only because it makes money (ahem) or is the expansion of collective knowledge enough? BTW, if you use encryption such as https, you are using the results of prime number math. And Bitcoin's private key system is based around primes.

More than computing SHA256(SHA256(x)) :s

I'm hoping I can run bfgminer on my vps systems...I tweaked mine and am pulling 400 per instance and 1000 in others. Total is 6400pps atm, and looking to increase it to 9900pps soon.
Where are the pools!? :p
Soon yay I hope reward halves soon, so we can see price rise...cpu only pool would be fun. xD I don't think we will get to diff 10 any time soon.

There is no timestamp in transaction
So what is the thing that makes an identical tx different each time you sign it (I have tested this so I know it to be a fact)? To prevent your private key from being discovered it uses a different number to sign the transaction, there's a whole technical explanation, but basically the private key is multiplied by a different number for each sign.

Can a math whiz give us a formal estimation of the amount of pps required to reach each difficulty?
