121  Economy / Economics / Re: how can bitcoin help the community? on: November 10, 2017, 08:44:24 AM
Bitcoin is promising currency, but somehow because of it's volatile value. How can bitcoin help the community? especially the 3rd world country.

It can help people by serving as another source of income especially if what they are earning in theor day job isn't enough for them. And take note how much people can save from taxes. Then another great feature is how you can easily transfer funds to your loved ones or other people whom you are transacting with, given that you have the same exchange wallet (not sure if applicable in other exchanges) like coins.ph here in our country. And of course it is of great help for the community because it lessen, although not eliminate it completeley, the rate of unemployment which is considered as one of the major problems in every community.
122  Economy / Economics / Re: Why the world really needs virtual currencies on: November 10, 2017, 06:54:33 AM
I came across an article this morning that, to me, really shows why the world needs a virtual currency. I'm from England, and there's a saying here that goes: "When America sneezes, the rest of the world catches a cold." The article discusses the history of the Asian Financial Crisis, and how we may be heading toward something similar.

It amazes me that we have a currency that can potentially protect us (working people) from global financial crises. This is unique and incredible time in history!  Grin

https://www.rt.com/op-edge/398890-financial-crisis-asia-curency/

So I've read the article though I must admit I skipped other parts. And I agree with you that it really is an on point article that tell all the reasons why virtual currencies are needed. It's been discussed how a group of people can manipulate and cause financial crisis on a certain country and it should end now. Cryptocurrencies might be the answer to this crisis though it can also be manipulated by whales, still it is by far the solution to financial problems. With that being said, countries who aren't still legalizing it should consider this.
123  Economy / Speculation / Re: Fork gone! BTC to $10k in 2017 guaranteed! on: November 10, 2017, 04:15:52 AM
The uncertainty and general possible mayhem of the fork was the only thing standing in the way of $10,000 BTC by end of 2017. Now with the fork removed I think we are guaranteed to hit it in December.

How high do you think it'll go before end of year? If Bitcoin keeps its average pace this year it'll hit $11,000 roughly on the last day of the year.

I think the fork isn't totally gone. Based on what I've read they just postponed it but didn't say that it will never push through anymore. There might still be some setbacks and corrections with the price but nonetheless it will still go to 10k no doubt about it. Maybe the news of fork suspension hasn't reached everyone and there might still be others out there who will pull out so I'm thinking we might fall back to at least 6500 at the lowest then will surely come back again to 7k and up.
124  Economy / Speculation / Re: $10k By March 2018 on: November 09, 2017, 06:48:48 PM
If you read how things and adoptions are going for, there is a fairly amount of demand, and a push for $10k by holders.

Do you agree?

That is a very conservative time you've given for btc to reach 10k. Imho, that's reasonable but don't you think that five months is quite longer? Because if we see how much of an increase btc can make in a span of a week then we can expect 10k within January or earlier considering all things that may happen in between.
125  Economy / Speculation / Re: Boys the time has come - the bubble shall pop on: November 09, 2017, 06:24:04 PM
Went down from 7,700 to 7,200 in one hour and is barely holding. It's time to *Crowd chimes in* "POP THAT BUBBLE"
Low key think it will drop at least 30% but could go as far as 50%, either way after this bubble pops, and we all have to agree it's gotta pop, Bitcoin will still be worth more than it's ever been. Hype.

Well, didn't see any numbers lower than 7k as of now. If that's what you call popped bubble then I can manage if we stay here for a week then continur climbing to 8K next week. But seriously why do we have to wait for that so called popping it's normal and has been part of the cycle for years. I mean, why does it seem to me that there are some who are asking for it to happen and not just sit back, relax and invest.
126  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin ATM locations on a rapid increase... wow on: November 09, 2017, 05:28:51 PM
October 6, 2017 had 92 ATM machines in my city.... today, November 8th, 2017, we have 109.
20% increase in the past month, in June there was around 64 BTC ATM machines. Crazy.

That's great to hear, man! I believe it's somewhere in one of the biggest cities in US? Well here in my country, there's not a single btc atm yet. Maybe btc isn't quite big yet here and even if the demand is high here in PH I think having btc atm isn't profitable. As harsh as it may sound but the people here would rather receive coins here for free 0and not buy it in any exchange that's why atm's aren't needed as of the moment.
127  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Google results show more people searching for Bitcoin than gold on: November 09, 2017, 03:31:51 PM

Well it doesn't really signify anything for me. First, we all know where to buy gold especially jewelries so there is no need for us to google it. Besides, what's more do we need to know about gold that needs the help of a search engine? Of course there will be high number of google search about btc because not everyone know a thing about it. They might have heard about it from their friends or relatives or colleagues thus, the need to search about it in the internet.
128  Economy / Economics / Re: Having a strong hand pays off once again on: November 08, 2017, 06:23:03 PM
I knew these sneaky weasels could try to pull this off (a short squeeze, by canceling the hardfork) and like I said a couple days ago , I would just sit back and hold it hoping for the best, and the best came, look at that long ass green candle for yourself.

With segwit2x out of the question, may we march towards greener pastures now, until the next drama ensues, but lets hope we can have a relaxed new years for once. For now let's enjoy the ATH.

I know right? No more dramas this time and we'll be seeing the brighter future for bitcoin. Will be holding as long as I can too. We're getting closer to 8k. If all else went well we arr definitely gonna reap what we sowed and every effort of hodling will be worth it. Everybody hang on tight and together "we march to the greener pastures."  Grin

130  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: would you live in a country that use bitcoin as official currency? on: November 08, 2017, 11:11:03 AM
would you live in a country that use bitcoin as official currency?
assume that you're living there and get paid also in bitcoin. do you think it's possible to live in a country when one day the currency go up or down in 20%?

If I have countless of btc in my wallet, why not? But, no I wouldn't want to live in a country that has no fiat and uses only btc as their currency. I will never feel safe using btc as a daily medium of exchange. Everything I bought will be reflected on a public ledger and that's kind of creepy. Also, people who own lots of btc can be easily targeted by criminals. I'd rather have btc used side by side with fiat.
131  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Middle East Richest Business Man, Won't Invest In Bitcoin on: November 07, 2017, 05:44:50 PM
Al Waleed, Saudi Prince, Announced in an interview with cnbc that bitcoin have no future arguing "It just doesn't make sense. This thing is not regulated, it's not under control, it's not under the supervision".

Also the Saudi government prohibited the use of bitcoin in the country!

Source: https://www.cnbc.com/2017/10/23/prince-alwaleed-says-bitcoin-will-implode-enron-in-the-making.html

My Comment:
Bitcoin exists 8 years ago, the price of bitcoin is not what real bitcoiners users search. Real bitcoiners joined bitcoin to enjoy privacy, transaction speed, secure ...

Regards,
Bitcoin Boy.

Couldn't blame him. He is in a country where the government prohibits the use of bitcoin. And more importantly, he is a royalty and is obviously part of that government. So it's just right for him to say those things about btc. You cannot create a law that you will openly oppose because that will be nonsense.
132  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should I sell right after the nearest fork? on: November 07, 2017, 06:00:58 AM
As you can see the BTC is rising fast, everybody is transfering alt coin to btc to get the new fork currency.
As we know, after fork the price will drop fast.

I realy want to discussed with you if I need to sell all my BTC right after my fork, and I will buy right after at low price.
What do you think will happend after the fork?

Sorry for my grammer.
Thank you

If most btc holders think like you and decide to sell all their btc after the fork then most probably the price will drop fast. But I doubt it to happen because lots of investors here are hodlers. Besides, after the BCH fork last August, instead of dropping the price surged and reached an ath. And if you want to sell your coins after the fork it is all up to you. Just remember that never sell just to cut off losses and never panic if the price will dip after the fork.
133  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin does not fall, it just takes momentun on: November 07, 2017, 05:35:38 AM
There is a saying in my country about our currency always decreasing against dollar: "The dollar does not fall, it just takes momentum".

I think this is quite true for bitcoin at this moment, and that is why nobody is worried about bitcoin $500 correction!

Yes you are right. There's nothing to get worried of even if btc falls back 500 or 1K it is nothing. Minor corrections from time to time is normal with btc especially if the increase in a week is very drastic. If you can still remember the month of September where btc had a major setback and most investors didn't even flinched because we know that btc will bounce back in no time.
134  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Combating Money Laundering, Terrorist Financing, and Counterfeiting Act of 2017 on: November 06, 2017, 06:59:57 PM
Not sure how it will work or whether it will really work for that matter. And how are they going to detect the presence of digital currencies at border crossings? What if a criminal who is guilty of money laundering just waltz in without any devices with him or uses a clean one. We know they can easily access their wallets from an internet cafe or they can simply purchase gadgets once they're in. As much as we'd like to put an end to money laundering especially those that uses btc in their transactions, it will be hard to do so.
135  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Use Social Media for Bitcoin on: November 06, 2017, 05:54:06 PM
So recently I was using this app called Instagram (in case some of you never heard of it) and I posted some pictures & videos related to Bitcoin on my Instagram Stories (Like that day when the price goes insanely high and keep going til now). Then 2 days ago some of my friends suddenly asked me about what Bitcoin is & how could the price goes up like that. And I was surprisingly glad to know that I've influenced some people to get to know Bitcoin. And then I introduced them to Bitcoin and answer their questions about it, there were 3 people asking about Bitcoin that day just because of this 1 post.

I mean why don't we just use this power of social media to make people aware about this Cryptocurrency, well I know that there are already some people doing this (like those YouTube channels).
But what I'm talking about here is to us to post something about Bitcoin on our social media, you can just at least post something like your first transaction with Bitcoin and share your story on your Facebook or take the picture of your book that you just bought from the internet using your Bitcoin and then post it on your Twitter.

Don't be afraid to share your experience, you won't get hurt by doing it!(at least not now)

It's amazing to find out how powerful these social media apps are and how it helped the cryptoworld spread like a virus. If you search bitcoin in facebook you'll see lots of pages with thousands of members from different parts of the world. It's really amazing but sometimes alarming because there are some who ard taking advantage of the newbies who know nothing about btc. Some where persuaded to invest in hyip sites that eventually are gone together with people's btc in just a few days. Though social media sites are a good platform in promoting btc and alts, it's not entirely safe and people should listen to the people they trust with enough knowledge so that they can be guided accordingly.
136  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin price Worth $7500 on: November 06, 2017, 05:35:21 PM
Bitcoin Price Will Have ‘No Difficulty’ Hitting $10,000,
After Bitcoin hit $7,000 and stayed above it Monday, the virtual currency’s most famous fans are confident $10,000 will involve little effort.
Will the bitcoin price reach $10k by the end of the year, then what about the altco price??

Well, 10k is no joke and quite an intimidating price. There's a possibility that it will reach that price but in a span of less that 2 months there's a lot that can happen. And let's not forget that the fork is one factor that contributed wiyh the recent ATH. Who knows if others will sell their btc after getting their B2X. That can really result to a dip though there's no way to tell on what scale will it be. But all the more, btc will definitely 10k I'm just not certain if we can do it before the year ends. Let's hope so.
137  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Simple (and possibly stupid) Question on: November 05, 2017, 03:57:45 PM
I am new to Bitcoin but I’ve been doing a bunch of research and learning. VERY interesting stuff! I invested a small amount a few months ago and I’ve seen my investment triple. I’m cautious but I’m all in and plan to slowly add to my wallet.

One thing confuses me. Who and what actually sets the current price? I understand how things like China taking a negative stand on bitcoin can drive the price down, but don’t understand the very basics of  how the price actually moves. Is it a function of how many people own it at any given time, so as people buy and sell,  the price of a coin increases and decreases?

Thanks in advance for your info!

If you took economics class it's basically that. Demand and supply is what sets the price and also some factors such as reputation, etc. If you're familiar with stock exchange or forex those are the same in btc. As more and more people are aware of it the higher the chances are that more investors will try btc. And because not all people are willing to sell their shares which adds up to the scarcity, the price will surge as the demands are higher and the supply is lower.
138  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: is it possible? on: November 05, 2017, 03:40:00 PM
Can bitcoin be the world's currency?

I believe so. Actually if you haven't noticed yet, btc can be considered a world's currency already. Wherever you are in the world it can be accepted by people who knows it and is also investing/trading in it. If you have bitcoins there's no need to worry wherever you go especially in a place that it is widely accepted. You don't have to go to a money exchange if you are in a different country that only accepts their own currency. It's only a matter of time for it to be officially considered as world's currency. But don't be confused here. My statements are solely for btc acceptance globally and not to replace any currency because that will really take too long to happen.
139  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If strong countries in the world decide to stop this market. Can they do it? on: November 05, 2017, 02:17:16 PM
The only thing they can do is to hinder the exchanges in their own country which won't really hurt btc at all. Simply because they cannot influence everyone and there will always be other countries who will support btc and the whole cryptocurrency world. They cannot stop bitcoin as well as the people who are patronizing it. Seeing its potential, people will not just dump their coins just because of some petty power play pulled out by group of people who are afraid to lose a lot from income taxes.
140  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is holding bitcoin Greedy? on: November 05, 2017, 10:55:37 AM
Most people now with the rise of bitcoin value, just want to hold bitcoin for as long as they can so that they can maximize their worth. But isn't it a little too greedy to just keep holding bitcoin?
We've all read that story in the school with the moral "Greed is a Curse".
So what if too much greed in bitcoin may backfire? What if, the hodlers end up with nothing?

Holding bitcoins isn't necessarily considered as a greedy act. It just so happens that people see it as a good investment of their money. For me, I can consider an act of greed is when something is being distributed for everyone as free and someone wants it all or more than what others are getting. Or when someone, for example a politician, who will use the tax money for his personal usage.
