How can a person get coins if there is no mining? Who gives them away? How are they created? The inflation is capped at 2% per year. It will only be used to fund projects that increase the value of Skycoin. [...] So if used correctly, the inflation will cause deflation, not inflation in the Skycoin price.
- I start with the belief that any kind of inflation will eventually turn into a tax. - It might be true that, in the beginning, projects funded with the inflation tax will help skycoin to increase its market cap (still not convinced about this...). But in the longer run, when the market cap is already at its maximum, there won't be space for growth anymore: you simply cannot grow forever! There is a limit to growth. At that point we'll have a forced freaking 2% tax. Maybe only 0.01% will be needed to polish skycoin at that point, however we'll be wasting 2%. This will give rise to a new elite of people working at skycoin with money from tax payers. They'll be the new central bank and government. A free market with competition and 0 taxes is better than this inflation tax. This.

I'm sorry for asking this again - but I have been stuck at 22962 for hours. I copied the files from the nxtiles.zip but nothing is moving.
I would recommend you don't do this - a decentralized system does not need a centralized blockchain - just stop your client then delete your *.nxt files (and perhaps *.nxt.bak also) and start it again. It will take a while to update but it should be on the correct chain. Thanks!

Can you post the link with the latest and good NXTFiles please?
|
|

I'm still missing several transactions, are those gone forever?
Me to, i transferred some NXT to some other account and there is zero there, BUT...the blocks are stuck at 22962 so that might be it. 0.4.2

Which is the latest client and server we should use now? Links?

Is there a danger that NXT coins get lost on some fork (forever?). Or they are easily transferred to a different fork? I'm asking because yesterday i transferred some of my friends NXTs to his account, and he used 0.4.2. I still have mine NXTs on DGEX.
I'm sure some other noob, besides me, is also interested in this.

this file doesnt have all .nxt files. should we delete all our curren .nxt files in our existing nxt folder before copying the 3 files in this new nxtfiles.zip file to our existing nxt folder? Overwriting does the same thing as first deleting these 3 files and copying new ones. Ergo - just overwrite. You don't actually need these 3 files from "nxtfiles.zip". You need the client (0.4.2) from the first page. false statement - if you just copy those new files, the old ones that dont have updates stay where they are. I remember in the past that CfB would tell us to not do this - to keep all .nxt files synced when you write them. But he didnt give any guidance here one deleting the old ones am I on ann invalid chains? my last block I see is 22425 at 11712% and Im forging quite a few blocks in a shorrt period of time Did you even read fully what I said? If you copy the new files where there are none (because you deleted them, you will have the new files). I said the same thing as you did, rephrased. If you overwrite over the old one with the same name.ext, you will have the new file. no you didnt fully read my question should I delete the existing files that do not have updates in the new .nxtfiles.zip file? if we dont delete them then we end up running older version of some .nxt files with newer version of some of the other .nxt files. This was a nono in the past, but we werent given any direction of deleting anything. Its just odd that there are only 3 files in that nxtfiles.zip You can overwrite only these 3 files and it will be updated.

Please excuse my ignorance, but how does NXT works? I reading this thread but there's over 250 pages. From what I understand its not a "traditionnal" coin like BitCoin.
I've setup the client and I'm currently updating my blocks (currently at 22408).
How do we see the performance? Is there a "difficulty" ? What is the target?
I'm really curious for that new currency and the website is down.
Did you read page 1?

Still stuck on: 22292 2159498187382012684 22/12/2013 18:05:06
for more than an hour. Client 0.4.2
How again is this refreshed(restarted/updated?) to the most recent block?

Nxt price is increasing, so tx fee will be a little expensive. It seems that Nxt will place 2~3 digits very soon, and tx fee may be 1 cent.
So those who buy alias name will lose definitely. Several days later, I can buy a name 1 cent. If you got a good name today at price 1 Nxt, that is 100 times expensive than 1 cent. Of course, it is okay because you got a good name, but it's not so good if you took more than 10 or 100 Nxt to get a name today.
Some guys will buy an alias for 0.0000001 NXT in future. So even ur 1 cent is too expensive. And on the other hand someone might buy your alias for "2NXT", double your price.
