Very interesting, now lets leave the poor man alone. Unfortunately, this probably will only be the start of his troubles. He sounds like he's on the Autism/Asperger spectrum. I feel horribly sorry for him because he may not be able to take the attention. This is sad, I wish the reporter hadn't given out so much personal information!

Update 2014.03.07
I have learned about BlackCoin and DarkCoin. But it seems that both of them mining a bit too fast. I am a bit afraid on this.
Could you mean by this? Darkcoin is one of the few coins with genuine innovation, here is an explanation for how it works: http://razorsforex.blogspot.co.uk/2014/02/darkcoin-anonymous-cryptocurrency.htmlIt deserves a place on BTC38 not only because it is popular and high volume trade (see it's high trade volume on cryptsy) but also because there is real development going on there. There's no problem with the Darkcoin mining rate. It has a solid supporter base and has kept a relatively stable price compared to many other coins. Also an announcement about Darkcoin beta testing phrase made it to the 'hot' section in r/bitcoin: http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/1zde2w/darksend_beta_is_live_now_drk_darkcoin_the_worlds/This demonstrates a high level of acceptance of darkcoin's usefulness by bitcoiners, indicating it is a respectable coin and worth adding. I'm sure Darkcoin will be one of the highest volume coins traded on btc38. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) Edit: Also Darkcoin is DRK, could you please correct this in the poll. +1

Hey I'm seeing a bit of talk about marketing right now and want to share an idea about groups of people with medium to large followings who are actively looking for as many ways to make money as possible. This also has the added benefit of being low-key as well, and it doesn't look like many people have gone down this avenue yet.
Sites like twitch.tv are full of content creators that have tens of thousands of viewers of people who literally play games all day (quite a few do this as a full time job and stream for over 8 hours a day) and survive on donations alone. Many of the streamers are being rejected for Amazon partnerships because they "don't generate enough profit". I've heard that quoted many times. I feel like getting these people to accept donations in crypto would be a fantastic opportunity to take advantage of.
Currently, people have the option of donating to them directly through paypal, or subscribing to them through the website for 4.99 USD. While I'm not saying that the subscription should be replaced, I think donations in crypto would be well received by both the site as well as the streamer.
The value in this is that even for as little a donation of $2 (many take less), the person's name is generally read out loud along with a message that is sent to the streamer. Usually they also mention how much was donated as well, and the donation system is set up to display the currency donated, nickname of the donator, and their message right on the viewers screen. We're talking about hundreds of donations an hour, all being read out loud, and seen by everyone watching these people play games. Imagine if everyone viewing the stream saw that the donation was in Bitcoin, or Darkcoin . . that would be almost free marketing compared to alternatives.
I'm not saying actively market in the message you can send these people, more that you could get the amount donated to show up as Bitcoin or Darkcoin donated rather than USD.
Some streamers already post crypto addresses, but usually fail to mention the donation when given. If someone could work out a payment system similar to the one they already use so that the donation can pop up automatically, and work with these people to start announcing crypto donations the same way they already mention fiat donations there could be tremendous value in that. Another easy 100-200k people and more on twitch alone.
That is a very good idea!

@eduffield
my betawallet doesn't work form me, may i contact you to set up it correctly?
I'm going to push up v3 of beta here in a little while. I'll help you out then. When you do, let us know what's updated, what's changed, etc... ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) Please ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

Oh, and English version, that's really cool! Like the above people, I'd love to see DRK / Darkcoin on your exchange. It's not at all a normal alt coin, it's a serious coin, with decentralized obfuscation of transactions from the wallet, not a centralized service. Thanks!
|
|

I'm wondering, how is our IP address recorded or found in coin transactions? I mean, is it in the blockchain somewhere? How is that information traced? Also, what is a node anyway? Did the developer have to purchase IP addresses from somewhere? Just thought I'd ask ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) The wiki is flippin confusing for me! LOL

Note that both of these have large effects on the price of any coin that goes on them because they enable direct CNY trading (CNY = Chinese Yuan). If you look at the transaction volume of DOGE and VTC, about 20% if it comes from DOGE/CNY and VTC/CNY trades rather than BTC pairs. We *need* a Chinese webpage explaining what DRK does and a Chinese wallet translation to help these new DRK users. Any speakers out there? Also, VOTE. Agreed, we could put together a bounty for a Chinese Darkcoin website? Genius thought, honestly. ![Cool](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cool.gif) Voted - everyone else needs to vote if you haven't....The Chinese would love the anonymity as they need it more than most. +1 for wallet translation ASAP as well. What we need is someone to put up a Darkcoin crowd-funding site so we can organise bounties for various things, one of which would be this chinese translation/website. A Darkcoin version of this would be ideal: http://vertcoinmarket.com/How about a Chinese Wiki page?

So my bitcoins cleared coinbase this morning, and I bought some darkcoin, then withdrew it right away, but the withdrawl is still pending after almost 11 hours. I look this up on google and it seems this happens all the time! Some people don't get their coin for days!
Is there anything I can do to get them to unblock my withdrawal? I've written them twice. This isn't normal for an exchange, is it?
it shouldnt take that long They finally wrote back, all is good now

Ok, I had to replace my DarkCoin folder in appdata, and that one didn't have the node, ugh, I'm so tired I can't think, LOL
I finally, FINALLY got darksend to work for me!!! Yaaaay!
Sent from Windows 7, arrived in Ubuntu wallet all at once, since all three transactions were from me, LOL. Not enough traffic to combine a pool, and I didn't want to wait ;p
Thank you shojayxt , I thought it was there, but with the switching things about, I lost it, LOL
Glad I could help. I made several successful transactions using DarkSend between addresses. The latest beta resolved the issues that were problematic for several users including myself. There is still work to do but i have been very impressed by the responsiveness of the developer "eduffield" to address any issue brought to his attention. Does this guy even sleep? Maybe he doesn't? Ah, to be young again! ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif) Now, I have to nap all the time to keep going LOL

Appreciate those posts eduffield.
Have you by chance expounded upon the "encrypted transaction network", or at least gave a brief outline/framework somewhere? I'm curious what your vision is for this. I think I've read every post in this thread but I may have missed it.
the users part to setup. Implementation #1: Building in something like tor to use an existing network to secure communication between the nodes and yourself. The problem is this causes everything to slow down substantially. Implementation #2: Turn the Darkcoin network into a proxy network and pick a node to securely relay through. This could even I'm not dead set on how I want to implement this yet, and have a few separate ideas. Before implementation: proxies have always been supported, which would do the same thing. They just require a bit more work on have N hops before reaching an exit node and would only work for internal system messages. Implementation #3: Unencrypted relaying using a "Pass this message on to 1 node (and tell them to do the same) you're connected to or if random number > X broadcast", so the message would hop multiple times before it was actually broadcasted by the exit node. You would never know who the original client was because N hops would be random. Implementation #4+? I'm open to other ideas. I don't know if he still plans on doing any of this. He used to have it listed on the first post as a feature that would be implemented sometime in the future. Last I heard he was thinking of implementing a combination of these ideas.

How come it runs 30% cooler?
I think it has something to do with all the algorithms, they're not somehow speed - able? I really don't know, but it's the side effect of the algos I'm pretty sure

well, I read through and got caught up, but I didn't see any new nodes given out for the beta. Are there any? I got my beta to run again, but can't send, says something wrong with node... I'll try redoing my config again, LOL.

It may have been mentioned already but how about getting the faucet up and running. There's a link to it on the website and it would seem more professional if it were working. I could probably donate a few coins and the higher the price gets, the lower the number of coins I would be willing to give - I imagine it's the same for many people.
I have no idea what a faucet is, what does it do? Gives away free coins with a restriction that you can only use it once per day or some other time interval. Refilled by donations from richer people. The idea is to disperse the coin more widely to promote use. Oh, ok, thank you! So instead of mining my 1 coin a day, I could have been hitting a button for it! LOL Nah, I'm being mean, but with most of the people on these threads, I wouldn't doubt the coins taken are sold immediately at cryptsy! I'll go see how to donate ![Tongue](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/tongue.gif)

http://www.forbes.com/sites/andygreenberg/2014/03/05/most-popular-bitcoin-apps-soon-to-run-on-tor-anonymity-network/Bitcoin core developer Mike Hearn says that an upcoming version of bitcoinj, the software that powers many of the most popular Bitcoin apps like Multibit, Hive, and Android Wallet, will route all connections to the Bitcoin network over Tor’s anonymity network. When users of those apps buy or sell Bitcoins, their transactions will be sent through Tor’s system of three encrypted hops through computers around the world before they reach another Bitcoin node. @eduffield , can you comment on this and what it means for darkcoin? that is still a centralized solution. You must trust the tor network. If the network is compromised, how would you ever know? It was designed for the US government so obviously they'd know the ins and out of the system. I have nothing to hide, especially from the government, but I don't trust them with any of my personal information! Who knows, some day I might have reason to need privacy, anything the government gathers on me could be exposed in a moment. But I'm nobody, LOL, so just keeping the network well obfuscated and decentralized makes me happy, so to each his own??
