1201  Economy / Gambling / Re: MEGA:PARI | Gambling&Betting | REVIEW CAMPAIGN ON 💸💸💸 on: June 08, 2023, 03:46:36 PM
Does anyone know how to get around this problem?

Thanks

Does the problem only occur on the registration page or does it affect the entire site?
You can try accessing the registration directly using this URL: https://megapari.com/registration.

Anyway, I didn't notice any errors, it's possible that the issue has already been resolved. Also, since you're using Linux, it's possible that the certificate issue only impact Linux machines.

But be careful with this site. It appears that they are affiliated with the 1xBET parent company, which has a bit of a reputation in the gambling community for being involved in some pretty shady practices and selective scamming. If you ever face any issues and the casino decides to confiscate your funds, don't expect much help or an explanation from their customer support or security department. So, be cautious if you decide to engage with them.

P.S. I am paranoid and dont save imporand pages to bookmarks, as I am scared that someone will replace it with fake page Cheesy

Well, if someone gains remote access to your computer without your knowledge, anything is possible, including changing your local DNS settings that can lead you to a phishing scam without you even realizing it. However, statistically speaking, the likelihood of this happening is much lower compared to the risks associated with clicking on links in email messages or performing Google searches that lead to phishing site. Typing the exact URL into the browser's address bar is considered the safest way to access websites, although it can be time-consuming for many users.
1203  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: My worries with ledger on: June 08, 2023, 08:06:16 AM
I feel paranoid.

Paranoia can cloud your judgment. It's good to be cautious, though.

What will be your suggestions?

There is no direct threat to your Ledger Nano S at this time. Nevertheless, if you feel uneasy or don't feel safe with your current storage solution, it's always a good idea to explore other options.

According to what I read, you are safe if you do not update the firmware, but after several months you will reach a point where you have to update the firmware, and then you can fear, until that thing happens, start thinking about a suitable alternative instead of worrying.

If he keeps using the Ledger Nano with Electrum software, he won't need to upgrade the firmware unless he chooses to do so. Firmware updates are exclusively carried out via Ledger Live.
1204  Economy / Reputation / Re: Stake flags for ponzi schemes here on: June 07, 2023, 07:18:06 PM
I believe that he will ultimately do what is right and consider removing the negative trust.

Dear FatFork, I am sorry to say that, but I am doing it for you to not get disappointed later: he will never do it.

Well, maybe you have a point there. It wouldn't be the first time I've put my faith in people and ended up feeling let down, and I have a sneaky suspicion it won't be the last either... Wink

Nevertheless, I must admit, even though he can be stubborn at times, I do believe his heart is generally in the right place (well, most of the time, at least). But hey, we all have our stubborn moments, right?
1205  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Recovery - Send your (encrypted) recovery phrase to 3rd parties entities on: June 07, 2023, 06:13:41 PM
They state that the seed phrase undergoes encryption and is divided into three shreds. These shreds are then directly sent to the three custodians from the Ledger device itself. When a recovery is requested, these encrypted parts are sent back to the new or old hardware device and decrypted back in the recovery seed. Nowhere does it mention that the shreds must pass through any Ledger server for encryption or decryption during recovery.
This means all shreds pass through your computer, and through Ledger Live. If Ledger Live gets compromised, your seed can get compromised.

I agree. I was trying to explain to tenant48 that his idea about each Ledger device having a unique key pair doesn't hold up because it would render the decryption of shreds on a new device impossible. It just doesn't make logical sense in that context.

The whole point of a hardware wallet used to be that your security doesn't depend on the security of the computer you're using.

Absolutely! The whole idea behind a hardware wallet is to eliminate as many potential attack points as you can, not to introduce new ones, no matter how insignificant they might seem. Safety first, no compromises!

1207  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: There are many advantages to the relationship between gambling and Bitcoin. on: June 07, 2023, 01:28:44 PM
Gambling platforms or casinos don't really need your personal information to track your gambling habits since you already gamble with them, and if you are talking about your activities outside their own platform, that is not an option available to them at all. They can't track your habits or activities only by using your personal information unless they have links to every single casino platform that you use out there.

Hmm, I'm not sure if I should share this secret, but let's just say that you're not entirely correct. Each platform typically operates independently and has its own systems and databases. However, there are indeed scenarios where casinos have the ability to track your gambling activities across multiple platforms, particularly in the case of sportsbooks. If you're curious, you can do some research on your own to dig deeper into this.
1208  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: would you play more on casino when your country plans to ban BTC? on: June 07, 2023, 01:05:34 PM
I don't see how one has to do with the other. If gambling is legal and something I enjoy, I will continue to play regardless of my country's stance on the Bitcoin cryptocurrency. The regulations surrounding Bitcoin and the legality of gambling are separate matters. As long as the casino permits players from my country and there are no specific restrictions, I can engage in gambling activities without any hindrance.

In that case, the main change would be the method I use to exchange cryptocurrency for my local fiat currency. If my country has restrictions or regulations on the use of Bitcoin, it will surely affect the availability of cryptocurrency exchanges or the ease of converting Bitcoin into my local currency. So I'll probably have to look into alternative exchange methods.
1209  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Recovery - Send your (encrypted) recovery phrase to 3rd parties entities on: June 07, 2023, 10:39:38 AM
Theoretically, hackers can make a patch for Ledger Live to intercept the encrypted Seed, which is divided into 3 parts. Of course, without the decryption key stored on the Ledger, they can't do anything.
How can the encryption key be stored on your Ledger device, if you can recover your crypto on any other Ledger HW of your choosing? The other devices can't hold your encryption key. The original hardware device maybe, but it looks like Ledger gets a copy of it. How else do you explain recovering crypto on Ledger #2 if Ledger #1 that encrypted the shards is no longer working/in your possession? Either Ledger has the keys or the encryption key is also somehow shared among all custodians.

Each Ledger has a security chip that can have a unique private and public key. All Ledger needs is to get your seed from two sources, decrypt it at home, then read the unique public key from your new Ledger and re-encrypt the seed individually for your instance. I don't see any difficulties here.

But that's not how it's supposed to work, according to Ledger. Additionally, the process you described would imply that Ledger stores all private encryption keys from every device they have ever produced on their servers, which would create a single point of failure. It wouldn't make sense to keep such a system in place, and the entire process of splitting the recovery seed into shreds and distributing them to three different custodians wouldn't make sense in that case.
1210  Other / Meta / Re: User recruitment system for the Bounty system. on: June 06, 2023, 06:45:19 PM
But I have such a question/problem; Is there a tool or system other than manually checking whether the people who write comments are doing the tasks I give? Because when it comes to distributing the rewards, there is a serious labor force. In 2023, doing such a job manually feels a bit like manual labor.[/b]

Thanks in advance for your answers and solutions BTC

It depends on the specific context and requirements of the task you have in mind. There are indeed tools and systems available that can assist with verifying whether people who write comments are completing the assigned tasks. These tools can automate certain aspects of the process, reducing the need for manual labor. As he already mentioned, LoyceV provides a reputable service for signature campaign managers that can help track and evaluate user contributions, while ninjastic.space offers API endpoints that can be used with a little bit of programming knowledge to streamline the verification process. But it really depends on what you want to automate and the specific needs you have. While there are tools available, you have to understand that not everything can be fully automated. For example, tasks like evaluating the quality of posts will likely require manual intervention. So, if you could provide more details about what you specifically want to automate?
1211  Economy / Gambling / Re: THNDR Play Games to Earn Bitcoin on: June 06, 2023, 02:30:44 PM
Yep, you'll need to download each game individually from the App Store. Also, you'll need to have a Lightning wallet on your device if you want to withdraw sats. Just remember, the rewards you earn will start to decay after a few days, so make sure to withdraw them to your wallet regularly.
Did you find some Lightning wallet that works?

I decided to give Wallet of Satoshi a try to withdraw sats from these games, and I can verify that it does indeed work. However, personally, I find the wallet to be too simplistic for my liking. I might explore other alternatives in the future that better suit my preferences.
1212  Other / Off-topic / Re: A post about telegram scams on: June 06, 2023, 02:17:04 PM
To correct something here, 1xbet is not a known scam here, I can't speak for everyone in their personal encounter with the but here its 1xbit that is notorious for scam, the fact that they took up the name 1xbit which is very alike with 1xbet is already a red flag.

TBH, I am still not certain about the relationship between  1xbit and 1xbet here in the forum. 1xbet seems to be genuine site unlike scam 1xbit. I could be wrong also. Why I seem to be confused is because I have seen many celebrities use their channels to promote and advertise 1xbet. Could it be that the celebrities are not aware of their scam activities if they really scam.

The connection between 1xbit and 1xbet, along with several other brands, goes beyond mere speculation and has been extensively documented. Multiple reliable sources and discussions in many gambling communities confirm that both platforms share the same parent company and are managed by the same owners. If you're interested in verifying this information, you can easily find supporting evidence with a simple search.

When it comes to celebrities promoting and advertising 1xbet, it doesn't automatically mean the company is legit. We've seen plenty of times where celebrity endorsements have been questioned or caused concerns. It is best to approach these endorsements with a critical eye. But let's not overlook the fact that gambling regulators from various jurisdictions have actually banned 1xbet. So, when it comes to forming an opinion, considering both celebrity endorsements and regulatory actions, I'd say the regulators provide a more solid foundation and hold more "serious street cred." Wink These regulators, operating worldwide, have imposed restrictions and bans on 1xbet due to reasons like non-compliance with regulations or unethical practices. This is likely the reason why they created the 1xbit brand, which operates without any license and separately from their main brand, so that they can avoid the scrutiny that comes with operating within established regulatory frameworks.
1213  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: 63$ Loan defaulted by [Rohan Kotkar] on: June 06, 2023, 12:12:09 PM
I often send money from Noones from my trading profit to that wallet and then I lend out money to make more profit, but instead of making more profit I ended up losing the profit becasue I trusted a scammer.  Cry
Or if I get some winnings in Stake I sometimes also send money there.

Again thanks for the information and this will be changed for future loans  Smiley

You can still do this, even if you use different addresses every time. There's absolutely no need to use the same address for  "a lot of stuff", as your wallet can generate an endless number of addresses at no cost whatsoever. And even if your funds are spread out across multiple wallet addresses, you can still consolidate and spend them in a single transaction by combining multiple inputs.
1214  Economy / Reputation / Re: Stake flags for ponzi schemes here on: June 06, 2023, 11:53:04 AM
I must admit that I wasn't aware of this case before, as I'm not a regular on the Lending board. However, after reviewing the evidence presented, I couldn't find enough convincing proof to support the claim that these are alt accounts of the same user. Therefore, I don't believe that the flag against these users is justified. In my opinion, it's important to give users the benefit of the doubt unless there is substantial proof indicating otherwise. False accusations can harm individuals and their reputation, so it's crucial to exercise caution when making judgments.

While I opposed the flags, I don't want to lose trust in Timelord2067 just yet. I truly appreciate his dedication to the forum and his efforts in combating fraudulent activities, and I believe that he will ultimately do what is right and consider removing the negative trust.
1215  Economy / Gambling / Re: THNDR Play Games to Earn Bitcoin on: June 05, 2023, 08:58:36 PM
But there is one thing that makes me a little confused and I have to ask about the games available on the THNDR web, question: I see all the games below the picture there is an App store, does one game one App store have to be downloaded or one App store downloaded all the games are already available.

Yep, you'll need to download each game individually from the App Store. Also, you'll need to have a Lightning wallet on your device if you want to withdraw sats. Just remember, the rewards you earn will start to decay after a few days, so make sure to withdraw them to your wallet regularly.
1216  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Best open source hardware wallets for BTC? on: June 05, 2023, 04:46:27 PM
Certainly, the government will not stop with Ledger, they will continue to attack other hardware wallet companies is inevitable. I understand the solution you are suggesting. But how and how can we assemble a hardware wallet for ourselves? How is it that an ordinary person like me, who knows nothing about hardware engineering or basic assembly techniques, can do it on my own?

I am also struggling to find another solution because I know that it is only a matter of time before hardware wallets are controlled by the government. I am also considering using a separate computer or smartphone with the Electrum wallet installed and dedicated to storage only. I don't know if it is more secure than a hardware wallet?

There are hardware wallets that are designed to be completely air-gapped and employ technology which eliminates any possibility of online connectivity. Transactions are signed exclusively through SD cards or QR code scanning, leaving no room for private keys or seed phrases to be exposed. With these security measures in place, governments have no means to compromise the security of your assets stored within such wallets. Oh, and don't forget to ensure that the wallet software is open source, thoroughly tested, and verified, and I think you're pretty safe.
1217  Other / Meta / Re: [BAN APPEAL] UID: 1035888 on: June 05, 2023, 11:33:56 AM
I sent an appeal via email last 2019 but there is no response. I also sent a follow up to know if they are working on my ban appeal but still no response. I still send ban appeals while borrowing accounts but there is really no response. You didnt ask if i appeal before but this was my first time appealing thru posting on meta.

I knew before that the proper appeal was via email and not thru posting on meta back then. I saw ban appeals on meta but I didnt like to address my issue publicly before because people are just shaming the defendant and most of their bans are not getting removed.

Your account was banned about four years ago, during a wave of permanent bans primarily related to plagiarism. Once banned, you cannot use any other accounts on the forum except for one to create a ban appeal thread in the meta section. Creating additional posts in other threads with other accounts is also a bannable offense.

Regarding your claim of being banned for excessive bumping of Solarex_ICO, it is incorrect. Upon reviewing your post history, I found at least two clear cases of copy-paste plagiarism, which you seem to have forgotten.

An example:
According to the Ridge Times, the  Southern part of Africa is facing various forms of electricity theft resulting in an average loss of up to R20 billion ($1.5 billion) per annum. The local publication states that bypassing of electric meters and consumers, mainly in informal settlements, illegally connecting themselves to the national grid are the two types of electricity theft most common in this part of Africa.
<cut>

Source: https://www.smart-energy.com/features-analysis/electricity-theft-south-africa/

Instances of copy-paste plagiarism like yours usually led to permanent bans. And, appealing such bans rarely resulted in them being lifted. What complicates your case even further is the fact that you resorted to "borrowing" other people's accounts to continue posting on the forum after your main account was banned. People have also discovered more of the alt accounts you've used in the past, which doesn't look good for you. Even though you deny association with some of the mentioned accounts, especially the ones that are already banned, the evidence suggests otherwise.

For example, you claim you don't know why BTCedgar (alt of btsjimin and btsjungkook) used your BTC address, but the timestamps of these posts clearly show that you copied his message, not the other way around.

Sir, I put my eth address but I want bitcoin as payment.
Bitcoin address: 36FyRqBPxZDjeJsFLsYubVrqbnexxXVMh7 of btsjungkook
Eth Address 0x9E191e57030e1bBaE50Eb164b835b00BA6308942 of btsjungkook

Sir, I put my eth address but I want bitcoin as payment.
Bitcoin address: 36FyRqBPxZDjeJsFLsYubVrqbnexxXVMh7

You two are the only ones on the forum who have ever used that specific phrase: "Sir, I put my eth address but I want bitcoin as payment.", and his message came first. So, even if it were true that he used your address, for some inexplicable reason, it is highly unlikely that you wouldn't have noticed it since you copied his message.

Besides, your account barlo357 and btsjungkook (alt of BTCedgar) were created on the same day, which makes this kind of coincidence even less likely.

Considering all the factors at hand, as much as I would like to give you the benefit of the doubt, it appears that your case for appeal is quite weak. Sorry.

Hello friends. I accessed my bitcoin core.dat wallet while searching for my old wallets. but I can't remember my password...

If you bought those wallet files from someone and actually paid for them, you totally got scammed. Those things are straight-up fake.
1219  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Can't spend my bitcoins in mobile bitcoin wallet. on: June 02, 2023, 08:14:18 PM
I use bitcoin for donations (I'd use it for purchases too if I could find shops accepting it) and after a big sum received they will transfer the money, so every dollar counts! So  both of you recommend Litecoin, I will still use bitcoin because I want to support the Bitcoin ecosystem but it's a thing to consider, thanks!

I don't have anything against using Bitcoin for everyday transactions since that's its intended purpose. Personally, I rely on it for some of my regular payments. However, I make an effort to choose moments when the network congestion is low to avoid high fees. As you said, every bit counts, particularly when it comes to donations. And, as you experienced yourself, Bitcoin may not be the most ideal solution for small transactions. Unless, of course, you consider switching to Lightning Network transactions.
1220  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Would you use a VPN on a casino, even if it is not allowed in their ToS? on: June 02, 2023, 07:59:30 PM
I can understand the desire for using VPN to bypass restrictions, but I don't believe it's a good idea in the long run and using a VPN against the site's Terms of Service is a risky move. If the casino blocks your account and confiscates your balance, you have no grounds for argument. If a casino explicitly forbids VPN usage, it's generally best to respect their policies to avoid potential repercussions and it's better to focus on finding reputable platforms that provide a hassle-free gambling experience without the need for VPNs.
