Ha! Well that was a nice unexpected xmas gift! I just had a payment show up in my electrum wallet totally out of the blue. I was like, wtf?? Who sent me this?? On further investigation, it turns out it was my final payment from Nicehash for repayment of the hack 3 years ago!! Wow, I'd written that off months ago! Thanx guys!
and they hodled so long that it was sent at an alltime high ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif)

@exstasie. Did you read the article? I would argue that it is not FUD because it is not based on lying. It was only a speculation that it might cause a big short similar to the 2007 financial crisis because there are people behind this economy who do very questionable things to pump the market. See the difference? This story behind Tether might become a movie of one of the greatest financial schemes in history.
I read the article and found the claim that tether is the largest of the stable coins along with it being About 20 billion in value as fairly reassuring. what do we have three or four major stable coins biggest is 20 billion so pretend 20 19 18 17 74 billion for all stable coins. and btc is worth 23k x 18.5 = over 400 billion so if tether at 20 billion fully truly crashes and burns 🥵 then other top stables coins could grow along with btc. you could simply have value shift from tether to the other coins. I think if two or three stable coins all fail in a few weeks we would have an issue. but everyone has been talking bad about tether a long time. so it think the fear if realized may just make a it is about time.

* Chart Legend/Explanation * In the USD/BTC column, there is nearly a $2,400 gap between 2nd and 3rd place. I am NOT suggesting that such gap has to be filled in order to have higher numbers pushing those whimpy $20ks and $21ks down the chart... but it remains a pretty interesting phenomenon to see. As long as the sidewinder keeps behaving. we can do this on and on and on. Please note: this was take directly from bing search "sidewinder"

Phil, are you still hashing on ViaBTC or did you switch back to NiceHash? I'm curious if NiceHash is more stable than it was a few weeks back.
Just switched 4 pieces to nicehash I will report back with results in a few days.

What a community.... making ART-pieces and sending them to the other side of the world
This truly only happens between BITCOIN-minded peeps !!!
I have a very nice piece of polished stainless steel> I wonder if he could do something with it. I simply can't do the etchings he did.

Thanks Phil! I appreciate the suggestions and the merit! it's pretty frustrating to be forced to start with a fresh account, but all things considered, this forum was probably one of the least damageable as far as hacked accounts go. btw... those MSI 470's you sold me back in the day are still running solidly! Although only for a few more days since that's the rig i am converting to 5600XT, but they more than earned their keep :-)
Just keep posting and you will soon lose newbie.

So what you are saying is it could go either way?
I'm bullish, but yes. EDIT: Still, a triangle. Volume low. If nobody takes this opportunity, a little dip is absolutely within valid options. Trusty magic 8 ball says a small dip is imminent followed by sideways action for a few days. yep plenty of sidewinder action

ETH
$750, 1 x 3080 = 240w, 100 mhs $850, 2 x 3060ti = 270w, 124 mhs
I think they are pretty even, i guess in the end is going to be what you prefer.
Or which one you can actually find and buy (right now) pricing and availability are the key at this moment. Very hard to find anything at a decent price. I did get a PowerColor 5700xt for 389. which is a bargain it is now listed for 590

Question for Phil or others mining ETH with 5600XT's on SMOS...
What settings are your using for non-BIOS-modded cards?
For my 5700XT rig, I am using the following:
- Core MHz: 1300 - Memory MHz: 900 - Memory UV (MVDD): 1300 - Memory UV (MVDDCI): 800 - Aggressive undervolt: On - Power Stage: 5
Is this config also recommended for 5600XT? Or, should i tweak a few of these parameters?
(btw, my old username was GabryRox and i had a good history on these threads. but that acct was hacked a few months back so i had to create this new acct)
Thanks in advance for any recommendations!
Lets hope it is you gabryrox gave you a merit. try Core MHZ: 1300 Memory MHZ: 880 Core Undervolt: 800 Memory UV MVDD blank Memory UV MVDDCI blank aggressive under clock 4 or 5 for power stage temp 70c fans 60 below are the general ranges for a 5600 or 5600xt CORE CAN BE 950-1450 MEMORY can be 800- 940 core under volt can be 750-850 power stage 3-6 temp 60-70 fans 50-75

Oh I just unlocked the wallet and sent them all my btc.
Not!
On a more serious note 📝 we are still waiting on the first s19pro we ordered.
Why should we buy more?
even though I am down some hash 1.25+.5=1.75 ph vs the 2.0 we had.
it earns more than it has in a while.
I also grabbed a lot of gpu hash and if I am picky I can get it cheap with good warranty.
I even have a return window it the gpu phase crashes I have until Jan31 to return gear.
I wont be buying any gear from bitmain for a long time.

So I don't have a hardware wallet yet, only the coinbase wallet app on my phone, which nothing in it yet. I wanted to move my pennies from coinbase website to the coinbase wallet app, and it costs a fee to do so. Do you also pay somebody a fee if you move coins from your "frequent use" hardware wallet to your "rarely use" hardware wallet? I'm wanting to draw up a best practices document for myself, and there's been a lot of detailed information in this thread which I appreciate. Since my plan is to hodl very long term everything I possibly can, would I want to offload everything I plan to bank for years onto one (or more than one as has been suggested) hardware wallet and keep it locked in my safe? Pull it out once every few months to dump from my active hardware wallet to the "vault" hardware wallet? If I'm talking about having multiple hardware wallets over time, does it still make sense to keep the coins on separate wallets if they are all just in a stack in the safe together in one place? Or if they are all in on place does it makes sense to just keep it all on one device?
If my home burns down and the safe doesn't protect them, what recourse do I have?
If I put them in a bank safe deposit box like Phil suggests, same question - if the bank burns down, or is robbed completely... vault and everything... what recourse do I have? As I think I understand it, the hardware wallets are just paperweights without the seed list. But if one is lost or destroyed, and i still have the seed list, can it be recovered in any way?
As I am planning to invest and to mine, both as part of my retirement plan in 20 years, I really want to make sure I set myself up right from the beginning to do this as best as possible.
I'm going to read up on "air gapped" computers today, that's a term I'm unfamiliar with. I think have a sense of it's context, but I want to understand it better.
there are hard metal seed savers. let me find a link

So, we seem to be stuck on 23000, that's probably good, we need some rest after that steady rise from 19500.
Now time for staying here around $23000 for some long time like we have in $19500 because this could be good Christmas gift for all bitcoiners. Sideways we go just waiting for the next strike. Please note: this was take directly from bing search "sidewinder"

This is the part where your mining proceeds will build you more rigs if you are not maxed out yet hehe
1eth = 1gpu .. Now what do you want? 1eth = a 6800xt a 6900xt a 3080 or a 3090?
Just like the old days when 1btc = 1gpu....sad to say LOL.
I ordered a power color 5700 xt for 409 usd with tax included. it came yesterday. 50th for 409 and it is mining as i type. I am just at 1900mh not that bad.

he may be a i am clocking the gear as high as i can . why not i have a warranty . he and any gpu card miner that does that is doing me a favor. I under clock 🕰 have under 3% failure rate. I am still mining all 1080tis I had about 45 of them. 1 failed dont know why got an rma still working. 2 had bad fans replaced them. all others still work as I ran them at low watts. just sold a few of the blower cards. most of my instance rmas were asus dual cards. they just would not post from the getgo on four different rigs.

23k is good for me. I prefer we play sidewinder for 15-20 days.
