Wie gesagt das entstand Alles meinen persönlichen Internetrecherchen und meinen logischen Schlüssen daraus:). Aber ich denke mal die betreffenden Post füllen sich die Tage noch mit Fakts, Pros und Contra zu diesen ganzen Theorien:).
Erstmal vielen Dank für deine Recherchen und dass du die Ergebnisse hier mit uns teilst. Also dass mit den bei Bitcoin fehlenden Garantien und der daraus sich ergebenden Tatsache, dass der Geldwerte Vorteil erst entsteht und bewertet werden muss, sobald ein Einkauf getätigt wird, wäre für mich als miner natürlich sehr zu begrüssen. Mal gespannt ob noch andere Sichweisen / Meinungen auftauchen. Habe auch schon überlegt, mal einen "Experten" zu befragen, nen Professor für Steuer- und Finanzrecht oder so. Vielleicht gibt es ja einen, der Bitcoins interessant findet und er könnte ne Master-Thesis oder so zum Thema bei seinen Studis anregen. |

I got a feeling that Italy's coast lines can explain 99% of the world markets (stock/currency/commodity/whatever) movements, it all depends on how you move the map  That was kind of my point. If you have many different patterns to match to some data, then multiple ones will match and you'll have no real assertion about the future. Also you have some additional possibilities that "change" the observed pattern: using different scales (log, linear,...), using different window (go to past 10 day, 2 months),... I'm rather suspicious about these technical analysis tools. I also think the mtgox market is way to small, young and unexperienced to be analysed in this way. Also bitcoin is not something we've seen before. It's very interesting nevertheless and I'm watching S3052's analysis regularly (and am also donating  . I'm just saying: we should take it with a grain of salt. |

I'm seeing a slight problem for MagilTux to solve the "keep client depth tables in sync" problem, I hadn't thought about: (Firstly, wether a client gets the initial depth data through the "classic API" or through an initial burst of depth-change messages doesn't make a difference for my thinking here.) Problem is: the depth data a client receives initially is chopped off at the ends at a certain distance to the current last trade value. Now whenever a trade happens, this window moves and some trades exit the window on the one end while others become "visible" on the other end. There's 2 ways (at least) to solve this: - Screw that window completely, give the complete depth data to clients
- On trade, determine entering/leaving orders and send them as new/cancelled over the channel
I'd go for the first option in combination with initially bursting change-messages instead of using the "classic API" to initially fill client depth table. |

Ein Gewerbe oder die Freiberuflichkeit anmelden brauch man nur wenn man eine Tätigkeit aufnimmt mit der man Gewinne erzielen möchte.
Ob du etwas gewerblich oder nicht machst, spielt hier glaube ich keine so große Rolle. Oder anders gesagt: etwas "privat" zu machen, rettet dich nicht vor der EkSt, wie du unten ja selbst ausführst. Nun für Dich als BitCoin-Miner gilt erst einmal der Fakt das Du etwas mit Deinem Rechner herstellst. Egal ob Software, Grafiken oder BitCoins. Alle drei Sachen kann man verkaufen muss man aber nicht.
Ich stelle fest, dass BitCoins für dich Sachen sind... für mich sind sie eher ein Rohstoff (ähnlich wie Gold, oder z.Z dem Wert nach eher Kohle). Keine Ahnung, ob das bei der steuerlichen behandlung einen unterschied macht.
Sprich, meiner bescheidenen Meinung nach, müßtest Du, um 100% auf der sicheren Seite zu sein, diese BitCoins in andere Dienstleistungen und Waren eintauschen. Sprich rein steuerrechtlich machst Du einen Tauschhandel.
Ich persönlich handle das so. Solange ich diesen Tauschhandelkreislauf einhalte, fühle ich mich auf der sicheren Seite, denn jede Dienstleistung und Ware im Tauschhandel könnte man ja auch wieder in Euros umtauschen.
Sei Dir mal nicht zu sicher. Denn wie du selbst sagst: "könnte man ja auch wieder in Euros umtauschen". Ein Mitarbeiter, welcher von Daimler z.B. ein Auto billiger bekommt, muss diesen sog. "Geldwerten Vorteil" auch versteuren. Ich quote mal einen Artikel aus 2008 zu Linden Dollars: Die Frage, wann die Einkünfte steuerbar sind, ist nicht leicht zu beantworten. Man wird wohl argumentieren können, dass man spätestens zum Zeitpunkt der Steuererklärung eine Bewertung - ähnlich wie bei Sachwerten - wird vornehmen müssen, wobei dann eine "Berechnung" gemacht werden muss, die sich an dem Tageskurs der Linen-Dollar orientieren wird. Andererseits könnte man von Seiten der Finanzbehörden aber auch argumentieren, dass man einen geldwerten Vorteil dadurch hat, dass man seine erzielten Gewinne sogleich wieder umsetzt, sich etwa in Second Life davon etwas für Privatzwecke kauft. Ich erziele also die Einnahme dadurch, dass ich reales Geld erspart habe. Ansonsten hätte ich ja erst eigenes Geld in Linden-Dollar tauschen müssen, um mein Privatleben in Second Life finanzieren zu können.
BitCoins sind somit meine Meinung nach eine Ware und wird es immer bleiben. Das BitCoins einmal regulär auf den Devisenmärkten als eigenständige Währung gehandelt wird ist genauso unwahrscheinlich wie bei den anderen elektronischen Währungen.
Tja, falls oben gequotetes auf bitcoins so angewendet werden sollte, ist es egal, ob Bitcoin eine Währung ist oder nicht. Du hast nen Geldwerten Vorteil, den Du bei deiner EkSt-Erklärung angeben und Steuer drauf zahlen musst. Also Du stelltst etwas mit Deinem Computer her und hast eine Ware. Verkaufst Du diese Ware musst Du Deinen Gewinn auch angeben, wenn Du diese Ware für Euros verkaufst.
Sämtlichen Umtausch der BitCoins in Euro müßtest Du also in Deiner Steuererklärung angeben.
Wäre schön, wenn ich das erst, wie Du behauptest, bei Veräusserung tun müßte. Könnte aber sein, dass das FA es so wie oben auslegt und von uns verlangt, die Ware zu bewerten und auf diesen Wert Steuer zu zahlen (Geldwerter Vorteil) Ich sage mal: gut, daß das Finanzamt nicht weiss, wieviel dieser Ware sich in unserem Besitz befindet . Aber es wäre schon schön, das mal geklärt zu haben. Steuerhinterziehung ist ja kein Kavaliersdelikt. Aber frage bitte hierzu direkt einmal einen Steuerberater Deiner Wahl, der kann Dir sicherlich besser weiterhelfen. Ich kann wirklich nur meine gesamte Lebenserfahrung:) anbieten.
Jo, da werd ich wohl meine Steuerberaterin zum Essen einladen müssen und ihr erstmal bitcoin erklären, das wird lustig. Wie gesagt erst wenn der Tauschhandelkreislauf durchbrochen wird, wird es meiner Meinung nach steuerrechtlich relevant.
Wie gesagt, es könnte passieren, dass es schon vorher relevant ist. Wohl derzeit noch Auslegungssache... und leider sitzt das FA am längeren Hebel bei solchen Sachen. Ich befürchte, wenn einer in der Finanzdirektion sieht, dass hier 50 millionen USD an Wert geschöpft wurden, dann wird das bearbeitet werden  . |

These problems are really not acceptable: we can't have the client side depth data out of sync or even worse stuff happening (missing data?) I'm here to help with testing. |

Es wäre nett zu wissen wie das Finanzamt zu Bitcoins steht, bzw. wie Bitcoins im deutschen Steuerrecht behandelt werden.
Wenn Bitcoin als Währung betrachtet wird und man sich gegen EUR bitcoins gekauft hat, dann wird bestimmt Kapitalertragssteuer fällig wenn man die Gewinne "realisiert", richtig?
Allerdings, wenn Bitcoin eine Währung sein sollte, was ist dann mining? Herstellung von Geldnoten?
Bitcoin als Rohstoff: Wenn ich eine "Bergbauoperation" gestartet habe, und diese Bitcoins (Rohstoff) abwirft, dann muss sicherlich nach Veräusserung der Erlös als Gewinn versteuert werden (EkSt), nicht wahr?
Muss ich dann beim Verkauf der Bitcoins etwa Märchensteuer abführen?
Bleibt in beiden Fällen die Frage: was ist mit Bitcoins, welche ich nicht veräussere sondern beispielsweise gegen Waren eintausche oder einfach behalte? Muss ich die in den Büchern führen und in EUR bewerten?
Ich denke, sich in einem reinen Bitcoin-Kreislauf zu bewegen ist momentan die beste Lösung, allerdings bewegt man sich bei völligem verschweigen seines Bitcoin-Bestandes meiner Meinung nach evtl. in einer rechtlichen Grauzone? Ausserdem möchte man ja evtl. mal ein paar Euros haben. Wenn das Finanzamt dann auf dem Konto ne Überweisung von einer dubiosen finnischen Firma sieht, dann werden die garantiert nachfragen, ob das wohl ein Gewinn sein könnte.
Hat hier jemand Ahnung? Kennt jemand nen Steuerberater oder sonst jemanden der sich auskennt und das evtl. beurteilen könnte?

I had the impression someone was working on the client, albeit slowly. The problem seems to be the blockchain and RAM usage.
I'm not sure a full-fledged node is even the goal here, is it? I'll pledge 400 make that 800, and would even pay if it's just a nice Android/iPhone web app BUT it must be runnable on one's own server, not linked to its own service.
"runnable on one's own server" sounds to me like it's simply a rpc client, no? Can the pledgers please clear this up? |

How do you do withdrawals on a closed site anyway ? pffff. I read the google translation of the referenced forum post. Obviously btcex closed the exchange because some user threatens to drag him to court in Serbia for not receiving a withdrawal. Why that makes closing the exchange necessary is beyond me, I suspect other reasons. |

Actually the negative values are cancelled orders. Of course. So to keep my copy of the "order book" synced, I add that negative value at the given price and should get 0, or (if some other order at the same price still exitsts) some positive value, but never a negative value, which happens to me. |

ok, I'm receiving messages, nice Now I want to update the market depth info, which I'm initially getting through http://mtgox.com/code/data/getDepth.php. so I'm listening on channel "24e67e0d-1cad-4cc0-9e7a-f8523ef460fe" for messages that have op="private", and am getting depth updates like this: {u'volume': -10, u'price': 5.4000000000000004, u'type': 2}
It seems, though, that I'm doing something wrong: I'm getting negative volumes in my depth data after a while. Above message is an example of a message that caused this... I didn't have an entry for price "5.4000" (I'm using 4 decimal places for the index in my depth "dictionary", but that should do no harm, right), so the result is a new entry with negative volume. Another point I'm unclear on: How can I possibly ensure that the timepoint of my request of the initial depth table and the starting timepoint of the websocket depth change messages match? EDIT: Also, I agree with jed that being able to get the current depth table (as well as trade table, and my own full order list) through the websocket instead of the old API would be an eventual nice-to-have.
If my problem actually stems from the two timepoints (initial depth request, start of depth updates) not being equal, I would consider this to be not a nice-to-have but a must-have. You could maybe simply (from client point of view) send the complete depth table as a burst of updates after websocket connect? |

A bit off-topic, sorry, but:
I had to add a note to myself: CLEAN YOUR RIG AFTER EACH DIFFICULTY CHANGE.
Today, my steady goody going mining machine crashed .. I analyzed an increased heat. I could not believe that in my clean (*grin*) living room there is soo much dust. All collected on the air fan filters (do you install them, right?).
Everything went fine again when I cleaned them up. The noise of box went down, too.
So, from now, each 2160 block I will clean them. I promise.
Hm, my miner is running outside on my balkony inside a wooden box (of course with air-in/outtakes). I had to take it out last week to flash the BIOS and checked the case and fans for dust => none. I also use no fan filters. Pretty weird I don't have dust-related problems.. was expecting this. Maybe the outside air is actually less dusty than inside air. |
